Please guys I need your advice,I'm currently outside the country and I've been using my stanbic debit card for withdrawals and pos purchases,I recently signed an indemnity form with stanbic,to allow them to honour any instruction I give concerning my account(transfers and all that),I do not receive email alerts but I check my balance (in naira) at atms regularly esp before and after I make any withdrawal or pos purchase...my account balance was about 22,000+ when I made a purchase of not more than 4 dollars which at most I expected nothing more than 1500 naira to be deducted from my account but instead I checked my account balance and it was 17000+..this happened on Tuesday,I decided to ignore cause I was still not sure what happened, same day in the evening I made a purchase on pos of about 3 dollars,I checked my account balance on Wednesday morning and it was 16000+,now I didn't make any purchases or withdrawals since then, but this morning I just decided to check my balance at the atm and it was short by 2000 naira! Please I need your opinions on this matter, what can i do about this? |

LAGOS Feb 19 (Reuters) - Nigeria's overnight interbank lending rate dropped to an average of 1 percent on Friday from around 4.5 percent on Thursday as the market anticipated refunds of cash deposited by commercial lenders for foreign exchange purchases. Traders said liquidity dropped sharply in the week and the cost of borrowing climbed after commercial lenders moved cash to their naira accounts with the central bank to enable them to take part in the weekly forex intervention on Thursday. On Tuesday, banks deposited about 700 billion naira ($3.5 billion) to back their planned forex purchases, draining liquidity in the banking system and pushing the lending rate above 4 percent. "The cost of funds dropped today (Friday) based on expectation that the central bank will refund a portion of cash deposited for forex intervention before the close of business," one dealer said. The central bank usually intervenes once a week in the official interbank foreign exchange market to provide dollars for eligible importers, while it requires commercial lenders to fund its naira account 48 hours ahead of the intervention. Traders said they were expecting around 450 billion-500 billion naira in refunds from the central bank, raising the level of cash credits in favour of commercial lenders and helping to hold down interbank lending. The total commercial lenders' credit balance with the central bank stood at 376 billion naira at the start of trading on Friday, but is set to rise by Monday to reflect the refunds. The secured Open Buy Back (OBB) traded at 0.5 percent on Friday, against 4 percent the previous day. The interbank rate reflects the level of naira cash liquidity in the banking system. Anybody with dollars for sale in US or Europe? |
If the government wants to stop Nigerian students from going abroad to study, they should scrap JAMB and create better admission opportunities and processes here, why cause JAMB is more of a business than an admission body,if they want the ones overseas to come back and school here in Nigeria, then they should order Universities to startup functional transfer programs so the ones overseas can easily continue from whatever level they stopped over there. Saying they should stop wasting there time crying and come back to Nigeria just like that is not fair, especially to the average families who are doing there best to train there ward abroad so he or she studies the discipline he wants probably because here in Nigeria they either deny your admission or change your course. So let's be open minded before we start abusing them. |
