PoliticsRe: 2019: NOT JUST ABOUT THE NEXT ELECTION BUT THE NEXT GENERATION- Prince Olatunji by Adaezeigbolo(f): 9:09pm On Jan 20, 2019
[quote author=iwayumeh post=74941998]NOT JUST ABOUT There has to be a name for this disease. Okada Passenger syndrome (OPS) I will call it, the mentality that makes a passenger take side with the cyclist and lay all the blame on the motorists, even if the cyclist is riding against the traffic or riding dangerously to the detriment of passenger. OPS makes one to support an electoral candidate against all logic, despite the glaring negative signs. Ordinarily, the person suffering from OPS is a good person, intelligent, a professional and very reasonable and successful too, but once he mounts the Okada of his political party or candidate, all the intelligence is locked away or suspended, from then onwards, the cyclist is right and the motorist is wrong.
OPS makes it difficult to have a healthy conversation on politics. Reasonable political discussion is now an oxymoron, they hardly exist together anymore. Example: Candidate A did not appear for debate, candidate B did not appear either, OPS makes the supporters of Candidate A to lambast candidate B for refusing to turn up for the debate.
Because of OPS, we are now told that what matters before no longer matters now; Subsidy is no longer an issue, killing by herdsmen and Boko Haram is now considered a minor infraction, the poor state of our economy should be a casualty of the fight against corruption. Thanks to OPS the ability to travel to USA is now a criteria for being a president of Nigeria. The poorer the candidate claims to be, the more his integrity rating rises, the more qualified he is to lead Nigeria.
If not for OPS, Osinbajo, Peter Obi, Fela Durotoye, Kingsley Moghalu, Oby Ezekwesili should have been the front runners in this election.

I don't know of any cure for OPS, but I know for sure that the Okada and the passenger will get to their destination in peace or in pieces. If the passenger is lucky, his limbs will be intact when he gets the chance to ask himself "What were we thinking"
