Anambra beauty queen, Chidinma Okeke has been nominated for Outstanding Youth of the Year award in Anambra. Miss Chidinma made the nominee list in the Anambra Exclusive Youth Choice Awards, even after the social media buzz and controversies which were generated by a sextape allegedly showing her and her female friend (who is also her PA) engaging in lesbianism surfaced on the internet days ago.

Days after the sextape in question popped up online, Itxlexie Media contacted the event organisers to inquire if she was still a nominee, of which they confirmed that she is still a nominee for the award.

Meantime as controversies continued to trail the appearance of the video clip, the beauty queen has issued a statement to state categorically that she was not the one in the video, accusing hoodlums of attempting to mar her image. She also noted that she had " referred the matter to my lawyer for possible prosecution of the culprits and civil claim".As the video continues to circulate on social media and receive massive increase in number of downloads, no update has been received on the saga.

PoliticsU.S. Pledges To Repatriate Nigeria’s Stolen Funds by adaimo(op): 2:14am On Oct 19, 2016

THE United States (U.S.) will assist Nigeria to repatriate its fund stashed abroad by corrupt public office holders and politicians, its Special Representative to Muslim communities Shaarik Zafar said yesterday.

Zafar, who spoke in an interactive session with reporters in Kano, explained that the U.S. was committed to fast-tracking the process of bringing back the stolen money.

According to him, “before the stolen money could be brought back to Nigeria, certain legal procedures needed to be followed and that is what the U.S. is facilitating.’’

Zafar was optimistic that the fight against corruption in Nigeria would succeed.

He was in the city for an inaugural workshop on anti-corruption tool for religious leaders.

The workshop was organised by Zafar’s Office under the U.S. Department of State.

He said if corruption could be effectively tackled, the country would witness socio-economic growth.

“I am optimistic that if corruption can be tackled, the trend is positive for Nigeria based on the commitment,’’ Zafar said.

According to him, the U.S. was committed toward assisting Nigeria in the fight against corruption.

He added: “Nigeria’s success is America’s success; hence our decision to work with government, civil society organisations and religious groups on areas to prevent corruption.”

The U.S. envoy said the workshop would address how religious communities could work together to combat corruption, promote accountability and encourage transparency.

“I have a global mandate. So, I will encourage a continued focus by religious leaders on the critical challenge of combating corruption. This is not only because of their moral voice. Critically, religious leaders speak a common language with their communities.

“They also have incomparable access, unique networks and level of respect that can help in this common battle against corruption and to promote accountability,” Zafar stated.

•Govt consoles with victims’ families

Four people, including a mother and her two children, were killed yesterday when an articulated vehicle lost control at Ojaoba, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, and ran into them. Four people were also injured.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred at 7.45 am, adding that the truck, registered as AGL883XQ, swerved to the other side, colliding with parked cars and tricycles picking up passengers.

The truck driver, according to reports, came to Beere to offload cement, and later faced Oja’ba towards Molete when its brake failed.

It ran into vehicles and tricycles parked beside the road, scampering passersby, and as it approached Isale Ijebu, Kobomoje, the driver swerved to the other side and hit a shop.

The truck blocked the road, leading to a gridlock, obstructing vehicles from Molete to Beere.

An eyewitness, Alhaja Aminat Bioku, said: “It was like a movie scene. The driver lost control of the vehicle, probably due to brake failure. The truck hit a woman and her two children, they died on the spot. It also hit four tricycles; one of the tricycles got burnt, leaving occupants injured.

“I also saw an expectant mother being brought out from under the truck, but she was not dead. We just need to be grateful to God that this accident happened in the morning.

“If it had been during the peak period like the afternoon when there are many traders around, it would have been something else.

“We thank God for everything and we pray that God in his infinite mercy and wisdom grant the dead eternal rest and console their families.”

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Sector Commander, Yusuf Salami, said one male child, one female child as well as a man and woman were killed.

He said the injured had been taken to University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Salami added that the bodies had been deposited at the New Adeoyo Hospital.

Police spokesman Adekunle Ajisebutu said the driver was arrested.

He also said the vehicles involved in the accident had been evacuated by the Vehicle Inspection Officers.

Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism Toye Arulogun condoled with the families, saying the loss of lives was unfortunate, sad and regrettable.

According to him, such deaths were needless and avoidable only if people desist from street trading, keep vehicles in good condition and abide by traffic laws.

He said: “This accident is one too many, you can see the number of casualties and the victims, ranging from traders, passersby, tricyclists among others. We condole with their families.

“We pray to God to uphold the families they left behind and we are using this medium to call on the people to see the government’s frequent campaign against street trading as a call to end this kind of bloodbath.

“We will always sensitise the people about the dangers of street trading.”

CrimeWoman Offered Us N500,000 To Kill Her Husband, Says Suspect by adaimo(op): 1:40am On Oct 19, 2016
https://breakingbrown.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/crime.png

A plumber, Bright Ikechukwu has narrated how a 41-year-old woman, Mrs. Chika Orji contracted them to kill her estranged husband.

Ikechukwu who came to Lagos from Delta state for the job, said they were offered drinks and Kola nuts and promised N500,000 to kill the man.

The suspect who was arrested while trying to steal from the apartment, said they (he and two others) went to the man’s house at Jakande Estate, Ajah, on four occasions but didn’t succeed in stabbing him as they planned to do.

He said: “I live in Ogwushi -Ukwu, Delta state. My friend, Ekene, called me on the phone to inform me that he has a job for me. This was three weeks ago. I hurriedly came to Lagos and stayed with him in Ajah, I met another of his friend, Samuel. He told us that Madam Chika promised him N500,000 to kill her husband. Thereafter, he told Samuel to take me to Mr Orji’s house, so as to be able to identify the target.

“We went there and hid inside a tricycle, waiting for Mr. orji, whom we were told always opened his gate himself whenever he returned home. But on that day, it was his daughter that opened the gate. We went back the next day, it was his daughter that opened the gate again.

“By the time we went the third day, it was Mr. Orji that opened the gate himself. The plan was to rush to him and stab him eight times in the chest, rib and neck. But Samuel, who was supposed to stab him went to buy cigarette and by the time he came back, our target had gone inside and shut the gate.

“Out of frustration, I went back home and told Ekene to give me my own share of the money that I was going home. But he said that madam Chika would only pay after the deed was done.

“I decided to go into Mr. Orji’s apartment to steal instead, in order to get some money to go back to Delta state. But as I was trying to jump through the fence, somebody raised alarm and I was arrested by vigilantes. I was tied with a wire and beaten without mercy. I had to open up when they almost killed me.”

However, the woman denied the allegation, claiming she only asked them to beat him up for denying her access to their children and selling their property without giving her share of the money.

She said: “We got married 14 years ago and have three daughters and a son. All of a sudden, my husband suddenly became a wife beater. He would beat me and leave me with swollen face. He threatened to kill me. It continued until three years ago, when he finally chased me out of the house and denied me access to my children.

“I made several efforts to get my children back, part of which was to report him to human rights offices for settlement but he did not honour any of the invitations. Both families have made attempts to settle us but he would not listen.

“He was served with a court warrant over the issue but he also refused to show up. Along the line, he sold the house we both built, for N85 million but never gave me any dime. He also stopped my children from visiting me and any attempt to see them always resulted in beating.

“Out of frustration, I told Ekene, our carpenter, to beat him up, so as to teach him a lesson. I did not hire anyone to kill him. I am a frustrated woman and I am sorry for everything.”

PoliticsOkorocha Alleges Fraud In NDDC Projects In Imo by adaimo(op): 7:43am On Mar 01, 2016
By Chinonso Alozie Owerri

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has alleged that the 272 projects the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, claimed it had executed in the state, could not be found.

Okorocha stated this in Owerri, while receiving the Managing Director of the, NDDC, Mrs. Ibim Sememitari. Rochas Okorocha The governor argued that those projects could only exist on paper, adding that he was shocked to hear that 272 projects had been done in Imo by the NDDC. He said:

“I am shocked to hear that the NDDC has over 272 projects in the state on which billions of naira were also said to have been spent. I would like to have the list of the projects, the contractors handling them and where they are sited, because Imo people would also be shocked to hear this. Let us know the projects, their sites and the amounts paid on each of them.

“The truth is that these projects could exist only on papers because the popular impression here is that the NDDC abandoned the state and her people, while releasing money meant for projects in the state to some PDP elements from the state in Abuja who shared the money with the contractors.” The governor further explained that, “the NDDC isolated the state government.

At times, these wicked people behind all these fraud would ensure that both NDDC and Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs would award different contracts on one particular project and at the end of the day, the job won’t be done.

At times too, they would put NDDC sign board on state government project. So many funny things.” According to him, “NDDC should not be partisan. People from the NDDC states should be provided with services required, despite their political affiliations. Frankly speaking, the state has not benefited or felt the impact of the NDDC because no visible project has been put on ground for years.

At a point, I thought about pulling the state out of the NDDC and demand that the money meant for the state be remitted to her directly. “The NDDC has remained a nightmare to Imo people.

With the new MD, the state can now partner NDDC with the hope that things would begin to work out fine. And in the commission’s budget, the management should look at the areas of power and rail lines linking the NDDC states.

The commission should not be constructing boreholes, renovation of schools and health centres. Let there be light at the NDDC now.

” Responding, the Managing Director of NDDC, Mrs. Ibim Sememitari said that she was in the state on official visit to acquaint the government on the commission’s activities, adding that the NDDC was ready to collaborate with the state government in the areas of their needs.

PoliticsBuhari Never Promised N5,000 Stipend To Unemployed Graduates— Presidency by adaimo(op): 11:50pm On Feb 29, 2016

By Levinus Nwabughiogu ABUJA

The presidency has said that president Muhammadu Buhari never at any point during his 2015 presidential campaign made a promise of paying N5, 000 monthly stipend to the unemployed graduates in the country.

It however stated that there was a provision of half a trillion Naira in the 2016 budget which was mapped out to execute six social safety net programmes. According to the presidency, one of the programmes was a conditional cash transfer where the federal government would pay N5,000 monthly to the vulnerable and extremely poor Nigerians. our5kGiving clarification to the matter which had become controversial following president Buhari’s reversal of the promise, the media aide to the Vice President, Mr. Laolu Akande who spoke to State House Correspondents in Abuja on Monday, stated that the payment of N5, 000 to the less privileged contained in the budget would be implemented.

Akande also stated that about of 500,000 graduates who would be integrated into the teaching system would be paid N5, 000 token while on training. His words: “The budget for 2016 which has been submitted to the National Assembly has made an allocation of half a trillion naira, the first time in the history of this country’s budget where you have that huge chunk of money allocated for social investment. There are six social safety net programmes. One of them is the conditional cash transfer where government is going to pay N5, 000 monthly to the vulnerable and extremely poor Nigerians.

That promise stands. “The President never promised to pay unemployed graduates N5, 000; the President never made that promise and the government never made that claim that it will pay N5, 000 to unemployed graduates. The programme for unemployed graduates is the direct creation of half a million teaching jobs so that they will be trained; 500, 000 unemployed graduates will be trained to teach and they will be deployed to teach, while they are looking for their career paths or jobs.

That still stands! “In addition to that, there is also a scheme to train 370, 000 non-graduate youth for skill acquisition and vocational training. During the time of that training, they will also be paid. “So the President did not say that he would be giving unemployed graduates N5, 000. The N5, 000 monthly stipends which is already in the budget is for the vulnerable Nigerians and the extremely poor. Once the budget is okay , one million extremely poor Nigerians will receive N5, 000 monthly.”
