Looking4Trouble:I am a dedicated member of the APC and a strong supporter of Tinubu, sir. The future of this country seems uncertain when you consider the impact social media is having on the youth. Please reflect on this, sir. |
In recent years, the practice of selling cash for withdrawals has become a common trend in Nigeria, especially during periods of cash scarcity like we witnessed with the naira redesign policy in 2023. POS agents now charge exorbitant fees for cash withdrawals, with charges reaching as high as ₦1,000 for ₦5,000 during crises. This practice, while seemingly helpful, raises major concerns: Erosion of Purchasing Power :High fees reduce consumers’ disposable income. Inflationary Pressures :Businesses pass increased costs to consumers, driving inflation. Widening Inequality : Low-income earners and rural dwellers bear the brunt of this exploitation. Distrust in Banking : Many Nigerians now rely on POS agents over banks, undermining financial inclusion. Why is this happening? - Limited ATMs and inefficiencies in the banking sector. - Cash scarcity caused by poor policy execution. - Weak regulation of POS operators. The government must act to: Cap POS Fees : Introduce and enforce regulations to stop extortionate charges. Strengthen Banking Infrastructure : Ensure ATMs and banks are accessible to all Nigerians. Promote Cashless Policies : Educate citizens on electronic payment options while improving network reliability. Improve Financial Inclusion : Work with fintechs to provide affordable, accessible financial services. Fellow Nigerians, do you think the government is doing enough? What’s your take on this growing menace? Share your thoughts below!

It would have been better to ban it in Nigeria, along with other social media platforms, to help our children focus on their studies. Social media is having a detrimental effect on our youth. We may not always notice it, but when you take a closer look, you'll understand. |
Nigeria is the only country in the world where cash is sold. Peter Obi try for this one. |
