The Argentine has now scored nine goals against the Gunners as his fine finish rounded off a 3-1 win at Camp Nou on Wednesday evening. Another game and another record set by Lionel Messi - this time at the expense of Arsenal. The Argentine capped off a 3-1 victory on Wednesday evening with a stunning scooped finish from close range, although the goal of the night was Luis Suarez’s sublime effort to put Barcelona 2-1 up. But Messi’s goal was his ninth against Arsenal in the Champions League - and no other player in the competition’s history has scored more against a single opponent. Cc: lalasticala Source: Goal.com |

The Dutch coach is satisfied with the Red Devils' 2015 but
admits their recent dismal run has been a "big blow"
Louis van Gaal feels 2015 has been a good year for
Manchester United if you leave their disappointing form in
December out of the equation. United finished fourth in the table last term to return to the Champions League, while they sat first in the Premier League come November. They have since gone on an eight-match winless streak in all competitions, but Van Gaal prefers to look at the overall positives of the past 12 months. "We have fulfilled the wish and our aim in the first season that ended halfway through 2015," the Dutchman said at a news conference. "After that we have managed to give balance to the team and that resulted in October and November in us being first in the Premier League. "Then we crashed out of the Champions League and that was a big blow, and we are still in that period. "But when you don't assess December, it has been a very good year." United had to settle for a scoreless draw against Chelsea in their last outing despite dominating for the majority of the game and Van Gaal feels they have often been the better side this campaign. "We've had many games like the one versus Chelsea," he added. "The way we've played this season, we're more or less always the dominant team. "The way we played against Chelsea, under that pressure and in the style we want to play, was fantastic." Van Gaal has received his fair share of criticism in recent weeks, but he still had words of praise for the club's fans for the way they have supported the team. "I have had bad periods at all my clubs and I have to say the best fans are here at Manchester United, because in such a difficult period they were applauding about the performance of the players and that's fantastic," the United boss concluded. cc: lalasticala

MTN Nigeria has said it did not expect any service disruption
on its network as deadline for payment of N1.04 trillion fine,
later reduced to N780 billion by the Nigerian
Communications Commission, NCC, expired yesterday. The fine, which according to NCC, was against the inability of MTN to disconnect about 5.1 million subscribers allegedly not properly registered on its network in August and September 2015, was meant to be paid on or before December 31, 2015. However, the Commission, also yesterday, said it would take fresh decision Monday, after confirming that MTN did not pay the N780 billion fine before the close of work on deadline day, December 31, 2015. A reliable source at the Commission, said: “I can confirm to you that MTN did not pay the fine before close of work today (yesterday) and so the Commission will take a fresh decision on the issue Monday. “The telecom operator actually went to court to challenge the fine and the Federal Government has also lined up very respectable lawyers, who also counter-sued the company. “Both cases did not invalidate the fine, which means that MTN should have honoured the payment deadline. But having not done so, we are going to come up with a new decision on the fine by Monday.” Reacting, MTN Nigeria’s External Relations Manager, Mr. Funso Aina said that “when a case is in court, there is a limit to the comments that could be made, suffice it to say that based on the lis pendens rule (pending legal action) all parties are enjoined to restrain from taking further action until the matter is finally determined. “Notwithstanding the lawsuit, we will continue to engage with the Nigerian Authorities to try and ensure an amicable resolution in the best interests of the company, its stakeholders and the Nigerian authorities. We urge our customers not to panic as we do not envisage any disruption to our operations.” Source: Vanguard cc: lalasticala, ishilove

President Muhammadu Buhari, in an interview he granted the
Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation has
accused the past administration led by Goodluck Jonathan of
provoking soldiers to go into mutiny for sending them to
battlefields without arms and ammunition. The President said; “We investigated and discovered how funds that were pencilled down for arms procurement were diverted and shared by government officials who served the last administration. “The government at that time sent the soldiers to the battlefield without arms and ammunition to prosecute the war. That was what led some of them to mutiny. They were arrested and detained because of this.” Speaking on the December deadline given to the Nigerian Army to win the war against Boko Haram, Buhari said; “If people are going to be fair to us, they themselves know that the Army is winning the war. You can no longer find any huge number of Boko Haram members in Adamawa and Yobe; only may be, in about three local governments of Borno in the area around our borders with Chad Republic. They are no longer in position to threaten the country, so we have won,” he added. He also spoke about the arrest and ongoing prosecution of arms scandal suspects. Buhari said the government would use documents that were already in its possession to prove to the courts that the suspects stole and their ill-gotten wealth would be confiscated and they would be jailed.

This kind thing nawao! A prophet with spiritual powers
should mind the way he use it, to avoid such.. A Celestial Church pastor, Prophet Samson Olorunisola (alias Orun mi si), who is the Shepherd in charge of Jehovah Lass Parish, Powerline, Peace Estate, Ajasa-Command, Lagos, is currently cooling his heels at Panti police command for allegedly murdering a male member of his church. Prophet Samson was said to have hit the deceased, identified as Kehinde on the head with a diabolic ring. Immediately the Prophet saw the gravity of his offence, he absconded but was arrested by police. The unfortunate incident took place on the night of Tuesday, December 8, 2015, after the Prophet accused Kehinde of trying to have carnal knowledge of his four-year old daughter. He claimed that it was the anger and effort to save his daughter that prompted him to hit the deceased with the crucifix. Before he eventually died, Kehinde who was receiving treatment at a Lagos private hospital, claimed that his pastor actually hit him with a charm (ring). But the Prophet is claiming that he used one of the big crucifixes in the church on his victim. Taiwo, the twin brother of the deceased, who resides abroad, is said to have vowed that justice must be done on the case. He has been communicating with other family members in Nigeria to ensure that the killer of his twin does not go unpunished. Hmmm…gbese re o! Lalasticala |
The Dutchman saw his side beaten 2-0 by Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium and, with his future the subject of hot debate, gestures to supporters on his way off the pitch. Is this the end of the road for Louis van Gaal? The Manchester United manager is understood to be on the brink of losing his job after his side suffered their fourth consecutive Premier League defeat, losing 2-0 to Stoke City on Boxing Day. The Dutchman has been adamant that he is the man to turn around the Red Devils’ fortunes but frustration among supporters continues to grow and some bookmakers are already paying out on him being the next top-flight boss to lose his job. As he walked off the pitch at the end of United’s loss to the Potters, TV cameras caught Van Gaal taking a moment to wave to his side’s traveling supporters – was it a wave goodbye or an acknowledgement of a poor performance? |
