You cannot convert when you are there. Apply for the specific visa you need. 3-6months holiday is actually too long. You might have issues during renewal. So plan carefully.

The way he answered made me almost pulled down my post as I really wasn't thinking of going anywhere illegally.
I currently study outside of Nigeria and have been to 2 other countries without overstaying so I don't know why the outburst

Best advice; consider a migrant visa somewhere else eg Canada, Australia. You have a US visit visa in the bag already.

But you don't know my intentions, I feel you have a general view of questions thinking the person wants to japa.

Let me clarify my question more.. Sometime ago some people with this visa class get admission into school and apply for visa either from there or within. But for some years now I read that it's been more difficult.

I was just looking for information (particularly those living in US) that.. Oh since you are a nursing student you can write nclex before coming or take some exams.. Or when you get to US look for agents and go back home to reapply or any insider information kind of thing.

Like I said before I won't spoil my reputation by overstaying my visit as I can always visit numerous times I want.

My question was there an avenue to change status which could be in there if possible or back home.
I just want information on what to do now and how to go about.
If it's something I need to plan for while still in the country or go out to work it out.

I am not part of any evil anything I will never overstay in any country I know too well it's implications am not a first time traveler.

I have want clarity about something, I recently just got my B1/B2 visa with 5 year validity for a conference but won't be able to go to the conference as it's too close and clashes with lectures.
I would be rounding up my studies this year as a nursing student, so traveling with the visa may likely be next year.
I want to know from the gurus here how to make best use of the visa while there, if there is an avenue to get my visa changed to one that permits me to stay and work otherwise planning to spend 3-6months and not overstay.

First, are you planning to relocate to Canada to start nursing school afresh? That takes 4 years nursing school + 1 year in pre-requisite classes( If you do not meet the basic high school requirements)

I need to know if your Bachelors degree is close to any field in the healthcare sector.
If it is slightly related to healthcare, there is another choice for you, You can apply to a community college and work towards Licensed practical nursing (LPN) that takes just two years after which, you would take the NCLEX-PN(You must pass this licensure exam before you can work as a nurse)
I will advise you start trying some free NCLEX test questions online just to have an idea of what nursing school entails In Canada.

About Scholarships, i will tell you one truth, you cannot fully rely on scholarship (that is if you even qualify) + You can only work 20 hours a week as an international student. All the money you would make would probably cater for feeding, transportation, textbooks and accommodation . You will definitely need support for that tuition.
Besides your clinical placements are not paid!

Nursing school is extremely competitive and difficult to get into as an international student? Your GPA must be 4.0/4.3, nothing less, remember you are trying to get in with domestic students as well. All your Nigerian transcripts from secondary school to university would be required to measure your overall GPA and the type courses you have taken.
If all this seems difficult to follow through for now, you can start your Nursing journey in Nigeria and start practicing the NCLEX questions, it will even be easier to transfer to a Nursing school in Canada once you have some credit hours in nursing related courses.

Thank you for this info, I need your advice about credit transfer to Canada.
i am currently in my 1st year in a university in South Africa studying Nursing(B.Sc.), I am planning a transfer this year after the completion of the 2nd semester this is because the students do go on strike at least 2/3 times in a year.

what are my chances? someone once told me the chances is slim because they usually don't accept international student which you also stated in your post.. because i am thinking of starting afresh if getting
fresh admission is better.
