Business / Re: Lotsize Koncept - What Is Happening? by Adema: 9:02pm On Jun 12, 2011
Hello,

I saw the advert too about lotsize , but i decided to check up severally. I notice something was wrong about them, i couldn't get the Nigerian contact for a personal meeting.
A week after that, i check on their website and was told it has been shut down , because they couldn't pay or so. Well from my point of view, it's either they were fraud, or since it's forex they made huge losses and had to pack it up.

Sorry about your funds anyway. Hope you can trace them somehow.
Business / Re: Transport And Haulage Business by Adema: 1:21am On Jun 06, 2011
Hello All,

It's quite interesting reading a lot of post, comments and contributions on haulage business.I must confess, it's quite interesting, as it is different strokes for different folks.
While many get it right, many others don't and this are for different reasons.

Interestingly, i have passed through the 2 stages, not getting it right (duped ,defrauded,and making loses) to getting it right (Making profit). Even though its not the best yet, but it's getting better.

I also happen to have tried to help a few people start up in the business, sharing my experience , which are the basic truth, but because they did not pay for all the information given, they don't value it and so discard it, yet they go ahead and get their fingers burnt.

True, haulage business is very lucrative, but please a lot of attention needs to be paid on details that many overlook, due to the high projected returns they are offered or in most cases they think they can get back.

Please when coming into haulage , don't work or calculate based on a best case scenario , do a worst case scenario. Factor in a lot of hiccups that may arise,with this you can weather the storm, which is always temporary and start enjoying the returns of the business, especially with God on your side.

Furthermore, in this business experience count, i had to learn the hard way, but thank God am out of it. Also one major factor truck owner\s run into problem is because of greed, and reason why many managers or so run into problem is lack of integrity .
This ought not to be so, both can sit down and carefully analyze the market , check the dynamics and draw out a win-win agreement.

I have cases of people who work in offices and want to enter into this business, please before you do, check very well, there are quite a lot of issues involved, it's not just about buying the truck alone, giving out and expecting to be paid 500 or 600k a month ( this was what someone was asking from me, he eventually went on his own and has not made 50% of what he asked for in the last 3 months he started). Am not saying this to deride him , what am getting at is that there are other issues, questions that will impart on the performance of the business, and it's capacity to bring the returns expected of it.

For example;
* What about the condition of the truck and serviceability?
*The after sales servicing of the truck, Mechanical's , e.t.c
*Availability of paying, profitable jobs ( Not all Haulage Jobs pay well)
*What about the driver and his competence in handling the truck, which in turn will affect the returns .
* Others

All these i want to highlight and discuss in detail with people who want to start haulage biz.

Hope this small piece will get us thinking in the right direction and help us make informed decision in starting and running the business successfully and profitably .

I have a haulage contract running now, if you want to be a part, with either a sided ,a half-sided or bucket, all that can lift 30 tons, reach me on 07033846184,08022037587. Flat-beds can also reach me , we have different arrangement for them

To your success and profitability.

Business / Re: Advice Needed On Dump Truck Biz, Am About To Be Ruined: by Adema: 11:44pm On Oct 15, 2010
Hello, i feel for you, i am in haulage business about 2 years now, and i can really feel you. I went through thesame issues too, I trusted the judgement of my friends who were talking about it. apparently they were just talking, and you know talk is cheap.
If you don't mind lets talk one on one, and i can give you some tips.
Meanwhile, how many tons can the dump truck carry, and where is it parked now? Do you have a driver and a regular mechanic for it.

That's all for now,my e-mail is aeolajitan@yahoo.com and my number is 07033846184.

DOW:

kinharold and adema, I have 2 mack tipper already working on Lagos around ajah side, let me me know if can manage these for me. How much do you pay monthly?. If your offer is good, i will introduce u to my partner with 6 mack tipper.

Can your trucks go outside Lagos, and what tonnage is the carrier ? This will help in determining how much we pay.Thanks

@stagger:
You are not paying attention.
I wasn't trying to scare anybody, I was only flashing light on things new business owners tend to forget or ignore.

90% of new businesses fail within the first 2 years and you wonder why.

Yes, the roads in Nigeria are very bad and I think it is extremely important for a new Haulage business owner to pay attention to these things.
Many on this site indicated that the key to a successful Haulage business in Nigeria is the driver. And I totally disagree.
There are 4 keys:
1.  Great Driver
2.  Great Mecho
3.  Direct or easy access to parts (to repair the truck as needed).
4. A lion heart to deal with ups and downs

If u think this statement is scary, then I'm afraid to say you're heading toward Failure Blvd.

I seem to agree with Stagger on the points raise, and i want to submit that other businesses in Nigeria also have their issues, the risk involved,and critical factors for success.
The issue is to look at all the factors /keys listed and prepare to work in getting them. Generally you need a lion heart to do business in Nigeria, which you have to develop personally, or else you are out!
One of my truck once developed a fault at Kaduna on its way to Kano, thank God i have dedicated drivers, stand by Mechanics and an operational manager,who sees to vehicle recovery.
It took us time but it was fixed and the goods were delivered. Such things happen once in a long while ,thats why its best to go for Sound and durable trucks. You will save yourself the agony of repeated visits or calls to Mechanic.

Business / Re: Which Bank Is The Most Customer Friendly In Nigeria? by Adema: 11:52pm On Jul 25, 2009
The truth is that GTb stands out on this topic. I use Intecontinental, bank Phb, skye bank, and the difference is clear. Its not about how much you have with them, i believe its the bank's culture. I once had a brush with a Gtb staff sometimes ago, she had to call me later in the day to apologise for the incident, i was amazed, and became glued to them.
