Ossai Ovie Success, the Special Assistant on Media to Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has taken to his official Facebook page to lament over the misbehavior of Nigerian Singer, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as “Portable” in a viral video which surfaced online recently. In the Facebook post, Mr Ossai described the Zazu crooner as one who have the zeal for defeating poverty but needs to be taken care of before he gets damaged all in the name of being famous. Mr Ossai wrote:"This young man needs to be taken care of before he get himself damaged all in the name of fame. Someone close to him should as a matter of urgency take Portable to alcohol and drug rehabilitation centre. Don’t say his character is what is giving him fame because this is how some persons started having kidney problems or musical career started dying while people were busy hailing them. I am concerned about his well being. He needs urgent attention”.

The video of a talented female drummer, Kolawole Deborah gained attractions on the internet recently. Through her impressive drumming skills, she has proven the popular saying “What a man can do, a woman can do better”. Kolawole Deborah Olubunmi is a Nigerian female drummer, entrepreneur, writer and drum coach born on 30th September in Ikorodu, Lagos state. She hails from Ekiti State and is known by her stage name “Debbysticks”. She holds the position as the second child of the family. She is the founder of Debbysticks Koncepts. She completed her primary and secondary education in 2005 and 2011 respectively. She graduated from Ekiti State University in 2017 with a Bachelor degree in Linguistics. She discovered her drumming skills at an early age of five (5) during her primary school days and has developed great interest in it till today. To build her skills, she has followed the footsteps of various Nigerian professional drummers and Segun Shaba who is her role model. In a recent interview with her, she described playing drums as her hobby and a source of motivation because she loves doing it every time. Though there were feelings of low self esteem and discouragement when compared to her male counterparts, she never gave up on her dreams. She stated that her vision was to influence as many lives as possible most especially the female gender so that everyone can live a fulfilled life irrespective of gender. She is a member of different musical bands which includes: OHMO Band and Bunmioye Music. She is currently running a drums tour at various churches in Lagos as an avenue to appreciate God’s Faithfulness. She was recently invited to TVC for an interview on the popular Wake Up Nigeria show anchored by the television station.

The results of the 2022 JAMB UTME examinations has been released and candidates have started knowing their stand as regards gaining admission into any tertiary institution in Nigeria. The main purpose of writing this article is to enlighten candidates who might have chosen or want to change to UNILAG as their choice institution. Every year, the University of Lagos always come out with large number of aspirants jostling for limited number of admission slots and to withstand this competition, it is necessary for candidates to do everything possible in order to be among those that will finally be granted admission. The general cutoff mark for the institition is 200 meaning if you have a JAMB score of 200 and above, you can apply for the school's post UTME exercise. Though the general cutoff mark is 200, but it varies across various course of study. For example, a student aspiring to study Medicine and Surgery, must have a JAMB score of 300+ to stand a chance of being admitted as a JAMB score of 200 will not be enough for that course. Apart from the general cut off mark, the institution gives admission based on departmental cut off mark. Each departments or course of study had its own cut off mark which is calculated based on your JAMB score, O'level Result and Post UTME score. The JAMB score takes 50%, the O'level Result takes 20% and Post UTME result takes 30% all making up a total of 100%. The 50% mark allocated to your JAMB result is calculated by dividing your JAMB score by 8 The 20% mark allocated to O'level Result is calculated by taking five (5) compulsory subjects that are requirements for your course of study including Mathematics and English Language. The 30% mark makes up your Post UTME examination. POST UTME EXAMINATION The Post UTME examination consists of a total of 40 questions to be taken from Mathematics, English Language and General Paper. The examination duration is thirty (30) minutes. The General Paper consists of questions pertaining to the institution, current affairs (Nigeria and Foreign), science, arts and other fields. It is advisable to get a Past question that will help you get familiar with Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS) and format of the Post UTME examination. Message the number on the flyer to get one.
