There are a few distinct differences between vegetarian and raw food diets. Basically, a vegetarian is someone who is committed to not eat meat, fish, poultry or any animal products, but only consumes vegetables, pasta, and rice. On the other hand, a raw foodist is a vegetarian, but one who eats unprocessed, uncooked, organic, whole foods, like fruits, vegetables, nuts seeds, legumes, dried fruits, seaweeds, etc. It denotes a diet that is at least 75% uncooked! Raw foodist cooks very little and definitely doesn’t cook or process fruits and vegetables. Raw foodist simply eats them raw. Raw foodist, vegans and frutarians are some of the different categories of vegetarians. Yes, raw foodist is a category of vegetarianism as mentioned earlier. However, to be a raw food purist, you should eat raw vegetables like raw broccoli, not steamed. To a vegetarian, who doesn’t eat meat or fish or any animal products, steamed vegetables are just as good, though every person would concur that steaming can take out nutrients from foods and turn them into less nutritious. A vegetarian might consume dairy or egg products but a vegan will not consume any animal products at all. The raw foodist then is a vegan who consumes only uncooked, unprocessed raw foods. Enzymes are the life force of a food and that every food has its own perfect combination as believed by raw food diet advocates. These enzymes help us digest foods completely, without relying on our body to produce its own cocktail of digestive enzymes. The cooking process is thought to destroy food enzymes. It can take so much of the basic nutritional value away. Other than that, cooked foods not only take any longer to digest, but they also let the partially digested fats, proteins and carbohydrates to block our gut and arteries. Below are some health benefits cited by the raw diet followers: • Improved digestion • Increased energy levels • Reduced risk of heart diseased • Improved appearance of skin • Weight loss visit dietfocusline.com For more information about vegetarian, raw food diets and lot on dieting |

Let’s face it, if you’re going to bother changing your diet at all, there’s got to be a reason for doing it. I would bet you want to improve your health and energy, right? But why take years to get those results, when you can get them in months or even weeks? Here are some of the things that I’ve found can help you get faster results from your raw food diet. Incorporate Fitness: Until you reach the point where your body fat is at an optimal level and your fitness “above average”, you probably won’t get all the results you’re looking for even with an ideal diet. NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE NUMBER OF EGGS YOU EATS IN A WEEK Except for people who are vulnerable to high cholesterol level, which is linked to increased risk of coronary heart disease, health experts say there is no need to worry about the number of eggs an individual eats in a week. According to these experts the cholesterol found in egg is not only small, but with a clinically insignificant effect on blood cholesterol. Juliet Gray, a public health nutritionist, carried out the research and was co authored by Bruce Griffin, a professor of nutritional metabolism. University of surrey, United Kingdom. They posit that other factors such as smoking, lack of exercise, and being overweight are linked to high levels of cholesterol with fat from food being the main culprit and not cholesterol found in egg. But Gray and Griffin are not alone in their finding. British Heart Foundation, BHF, has equally revised its in early advice on the number o eggs that an individual can eat in a week. Victoria Taylor, a dietician at BHF, says the foundation recommends egg as part of balanced diet, “If you need to reduce your blood cholesterol level, it is more important that you down on the amount of saturated fat in your diet from foods like fatty meat, full fat dairy products, cakes biscuits and pastries,” Taylor said www.dietfousline.com for more articles |
