I want to make a big shout out to God and also to everyone on this thread who has in one way or the other contributed to the success of people on this forum....my visa was granted this morning May 22nd on my first trial. Here is a brief stats about my educational background.
GRE 312, TOEFL 99, CGPA 3.52/5 (was never a serious student only read to pass exams nothing else, became serious minded during my NYSC after i was mentored by a man i aspired to be like. Graduated in 2012 joined one of the biggest oil and gas servicing/construction company in the world in 2016). I got a fully funded phd program in chemical engineering without any assistance despite been discouraged by friends about my low cgpa and no little research background.

VO: So why NMSU?

ME: Because of my interest in working with Prof. Hongmei on her research project

VO: Whats the title of her research?

Me: Modelling and simulation of multiphase fluid flow in porous media using computational fluid dynamics

VO: How many schools did you apply to?

Me: 7 ( I really did apply to all 7 schools, one acceptance, 4 denials, 2 waitlist)

VO: What is your dissertation topic?

Me: I don't know yet but i will be working with prof. Hongmei on her research.

VO: Why did you choose NMSU?

Me: Because of my interest in prof. Hongmei's research and because it is related to my current job in Nigeria

VO: Where do you work?

ME:XXXXXXXX Nigeria Limited

VO: What do you do there?

ME: I work as a research and process development engineer

Then he nodded and said congratulations, I'm going to approve your visa for studying in the USA, Pick up your passport in this location after three business days, and I said thank you and ran out with a smile. It can only be GOD... I prayed just like I did on other days, I did not fast though, I gave alms, but mostly to broke and poor relatives (charity i believe begins at home), I fulfilled every promise i made to GOD.

P.S: Not a single document was requested.

congratulations on ur visa bro but you can do people a lot more Favour by telling the name of the school. it will give them an oppurtunity to shortlist the schools when searching. congrats once again. sorry i didnt see u had included that

I have a BSC in maths education and I have been admitted to study Ms mathematics. My aim of studying is to become a lecturer and consultant in the field of analysis ( Complex and Data analysis). Will it be a very strong point to tell the VO that I aspire to be a lecturer and that is why I am studying further? Or I should just base my point on just analysis? Pls critique and feed back. Thanks...

bro honesty is key in all we do. if u are confident enough to know what u want for ursef. then u can convince any VO u know what u want. put God first and then say the truth. if its meant to be, nothing will stop u

i want to find schools that give funding for phd in chemistry. i am currently doing my masters. undergraduate degree 4.54/5.0 and masters currently 3.66/4.0 with a semester of coursework left (hopefully 3.8/4.0) . toefl 97/120 which would have expired by the time i. apply and GRE 301 (qua 157 and ver 144). which was okay for when i applied for msc. i really want specific schools for phd in chemistry. thanks all good evening guys,

for those saying independence was dull. please check where u at, I was at Ikeja yesterday and was surprised when I saw people rocking green and white. let's not forget economic issues are globally now, u can ask relatives who live in oil dependent nations for proof, our own problem is just further compounded by both our leaders and we citizens too. Nigeria will not change anytime soon. am not being pessimistic but how can a nation thrive when the citizens hate each other and every tribe is always claiming unnecessary superiority. our selfish and self centered perception as individuals is what our leaders have too. so tell me how can we improve in this deluded state?

He doesn't hv money to celebrate independence? that's nice, but he had money to waste on religious nonsense that won't yeild anything by subsidizing dollar at #190 for mecca and Israel pilgrimage. until d so called leaders are held accountable by us. until d masses understand that none of these people hv their interest at heart, until we stop fighting each other and face the real problem of the country which are selfish and self centered leaders, we won't move forward as a nation. these same cycle of people hv been milking d nation dry since 1960 yet all we do is fight one another, allowing them exploit d nation more and more. we see youths killing each in the name of APC and PDP yet these people take home millions daily while they can't pay workers #18000 minimum wage. I pity this generation of young people.

I really appreciate ur wonderful approach to this issue, we still have people who till tomorrow continue to think Nigeria's problem has tribalistic roots. but the truth is that it doesnt.we have had leaders from all the tribes and all we have is the same endpoint. people sud realise that our destinies is in our hands, until we throw away all religious and tribalistic sentiments and give these corrupt politicians nothing to further separate us. Nigeria wud continue to be where it is.

Ehen I say Mk I drop this here no b say I too know but I don read every single page on this thread from beginning till today so na from other people experience I dey write. Those wey don go before say if u they come ( student) Mk u no forget to get:
1-stationaries: books, pens,pencils,erazers, ruler..as they sort of expensive as of then I don't know about now but just carry incase, so u don't spend unnecessary money.
2-some food stuffs: yam, garri, noodles,and ohers not food things that can Mk others uncomfortable lyk fufu( if u going to stay in a dorm) this will save you money while you start adapting to their type of food
3- tooth brush, roll on, slippers( both bathroom n waka waka own) inshort your toiletries.
4-warm clothes as we will be landing into the cold part of the year. Plus some nice clothes too so u don't spend money buying clothes there except if need be.
5- ATM cards( master card) have more than 1 if possible to enable you HV more withdrawal chances. Plus go ask your bank their charge rates for using ATM abroad. gtb own na 459 or so but u fit go check still. Note there are limits to numbers of withdrawal u gonna do so be wise.
6-shine your eyes wella ooh, people dey wey go want cheat you, starting from the airport so be careful n wise
7- wetin I want talk again: ehen abeg oo Mk person no go their they form jagaban, rich nigga, sexy mama n all even if you get the money. Abeg Mk we bend down read so we go Mk ourselves and parents proud.
8- zero your mind say job dey aldo u might be lucky enuf to get something doing that won't chop into your academics except if you wanna startup small sumthing wet go dey fetch u small money to keep up
9- abeg Mk we all behave ourselves na beg I dey beg, no go dey fight, or do one thing or the other that will bring you a bad name
10- most importantly hold your God tight. Coz na baba God dey see person thru in this life.

Plus take your mid term seriously I hear say an 30% abi 40% of your final exam so if you HV a poor grade in mid term chances to get high grades would be low. 50% na D, 100-95% na A so u see, just take your studies

good day @wip7 nice work done here. I was admitted into near east uni with 50%scholarship for msc in civil eng.I would like to know if the1400euros(3courses) on the provisional admission letter is part of the tuition.

@pascal2young please when did u apply to near east uni, cos I applied there too for over four weeks and I never get reply and secondly did u apply thru an agent

@mr wip7 I have to admit u are doing a great job,I actually joined nairaland today becos of this thread, please I want to know if It is possible to apply for this fall, msc chemistry at EMU. what do I need to send cos I just kinda browsed thru some pages of this thread and i see people saying its faster if application is done with ur help. I could have gotten ur email but I don't know how to check "signatures" like u directed peeps who asked . i had applied for Near East university online and its exactly four weeks today and I haven't heard from them. the last I heard was that they had a lot of applications this time around which made the process slow. I don't want to take chances which is why I am asking if fall admission for masters is possible and which documents will I send and the email to send them to. my email is adey2014@yahoo.com. thanks in anticipation
