Gshems: make people no cut cost on wires. Wires and breakers are major cause of these fires. An installer once used a 1.5mm wire for my inverter connection. Once day I went there as a curious person and I saw that the wires are burning already. The insulation was already burnt. I upgraded everything to 2.5mm. Did the wires become cool after the upgrade? |

osayuwamwen: It doesn't show on the inverter, even when I leave the inverter screen on the interface were the pump load in kilowatt will show before switching on the pump the only tin that shows is the Amt the pump is pulling currently which is 1.9kw sometimes it fluctuate BTW 1.9kw and 1.8kw Alright boss. Maybe that is the type of thing watt meters are built for. |

cj1080: I moved into an area that had light problems in Lagos Called Ijegun
This started my journey into inverter and then solar upgrades
As I moved in here in 2023 and saw the state of the phcn here, I needed something that I and my family could use at night, as against running generators through out the night.
having bought 2 batteries (1 55am lithium ion in 2023 and a 100am Lithium ion in 2024)
The 55am battery came with a 1000watt modified sine wave inverter,
It kept 2 DC rechargable fans running for 4 hours when fully charged, with the inverter making noise so loud.
When the 105am battery came with a 2000watt modified sine wave inverters and each came with lithium ion battery charger.
I felt that would at least carry the TV as extra, still increase the fan use by about 2 extra hours.
Then in February 2025 our transform which only provided low light blew(how that happened I do not know), phcn came to inspect then later came to carry it.
It's March 2026, still no hope for it yet, and through out the time I ran a 6kva generator to charge my batteries every evening, that became too expensive, so i got a tiger Gen and modified it to be able to charge one battery at a time for 3 hours a day(if you have ever had to run generators during the night 9pm-12pm everyday for 10months, you will understand the expense and maintainance cost, which far out weighed the cost of getting a fully solar option)
Which is what I decided to do in December, took an upfront reached out
Got someone who decided it's best to save cost by using my batteries and just getting an new sine wave inverter (euronet 1.25kv) and panel(went with 6 200wat tiny panels)
Since installation, I have literally abandoned my my street discussions about the transform, as if it does come, it's ok, if it comes it's ok.
My wife gets to finally use the fridge for 12 hours a day, with watch the TV . For me the big one was I could finally get to use the washing machine during the day(although I technically have to wait for sun to be at its peak and switch off every other thing in the house).
This been 3 months, and I have more than 22 hours of light (switch off the inverter for 3 hours a day during the evening)
Now I am looking to upgrade the inverter and add another battery.
Any recommendations would be appreciated
My setup
Are your batteries lithium? |

bassdow: what's model of this inverter. Reason I asked is that error 8 mostly mans the Voltage from DC source is very high. 8pcs of 620w solar panels, hopefully were all not connected in series BUT we need know the model of this haisic inverter or you share picture of the sticker on the inverter's body especially the MAX PV input.
Most times, people only do simple maths on solar panels not considering other variables.
Also rushing to change a blown fuse or breaker, without trying to figure out the primary cause is wrong.
We need first be sure issue isn't from solar panels, before considering other variables. Also help confirm if you completely off NEPA / Gen.
I am also sure that inverter isn't grounded. Please how can I ground an inverter? I need explanation please. Thanks in advance. |

osayuwamwen: It doesn't take long if u made payment once, it is only when you are doing pay small small, and you spread your Payment to like 12months so u will have to wait for like 6months which is half of your payment time frame before your item will be delivered to you then you can now pay the remaining half within the remaining times, I bought 4 of my jinko 535watt bificial panel at fouani when I went back a month later to buy the remaining 3 they were already at of stock so I later bought the remaining 3 from cdcare, with 2 month installment plan as am talking to you am still owing then money for 1 panel but all the panels are here with me am installing them 2moro, cdcare is safe them go parkage your panel well with wood to avoid dent or scratch ) Between the price you got on Fouani and CDCare, which is cheaper? |

bassdow: you obviously don't know meaning of / I am not here to banter words with you. You always add tubular to your suggestions here. A new Tubular in 2026 is a bad investment, yet you always suggest used. Advice them to go for lithium that their money can afford because going the used tubular route will be spending twice on the long run. No offence meant, just my observation. |

Marykhay: Charging voltage is set at 14.6V. And it beeps everyday on the inverter whenever it’s full. However, it just doesn’t last up to 700Wh.
As for the balancer, can you kindly post a picture of your recommendation? This a cheap one, but its ok for the size of your battery pack.
|
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adimx(m): 2:18pm On Feb 14 |
Maybe your Charging voltage is likely not giving a full charge. Marykhay: Chief thank you. Though I just confirmed earlier this morning that the imbalance in the system is not significant:
Battery 0 -> Battery 1 = 3.18V
Battery 1 -> Battery 2 = 3.18V
Battery 2 -> Battery 3= 3.18V
Battery 3 -> Battery 4 = 3.2V
So the problem is why is a 768Wh system not up to 400Wh from my capacity test? Are they fake cells? Or is there some other problem that I don’t know? You still need it cos the batteries at some point will no longer be balanced. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adimx(m): 12:46pm On Feb 14 |
Marykhay: Thanks for this. Pls I asked about balancing the cells. If I, first of all, connect all of them in parallel for balancing, how long will it take for the 12cells to balance? Just get an external 2amps active balancer and add to the battery pack. |

bassdow: Those spending over 1.5 million naira buying things brand new, ought not be buying like they're buying used item hence limited. A lot of times sef, we end up overSizng our battery bank. Once again, 48v 200Ah is better than 24v 400Ah. Feel free to argue but I'm off to bed. Should be back by say 3am or so in case anyOne is interested in increasing the number of pages of this thread.
Sometimes person need deStress but at this time, my eye lids are falling in love with each other so let me let nature play it's role This was not your initial submission na. You were trying to say that 48v 4kwh battery is better than 24v 8kwh battery. Based on your present take, it is true because the two have same capacity/power, but 48v battery is more efficient on the bases of lesser current draw on same load thereby keeping the 48v battery temperature lower and extended lifespan than 24v battery. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adimx(m): 9:24am On Jan 30 |
bassdow: this go still confuse a lot of us including experts amongst us. Just give them this
48v 4kwh is better than 24v 8kwh
Ah = (kWh * 1000) \ V
using above formular 48v 4kwh gives 83.3Ah WHILE for 24v 8kwh it's 333Ah. Also the 48V comes with lots of better advantages than 24v. The only one better than 48V is something higher than 48V e.g 96v or even 50v if you see am.
All na marketing, advertising a product as 24v 8kwh appears much more appealing than 24v 333Ah and when the likes of us talk, those wey don position demSelves to benefit go begin itch for brain.
We don talk am plenty times, the higher the voltage, the more efficinet the conversion is. anyOne who's played with the likes of LM7805, MT3608, etc can't easily miss not knowing the above directly or indirectly. Guy! I deh get anger issue oh! Just because you want to make the guy feel stup1d with his LFP 12.8v battery purchase you are dishing out half baked calculations? Who d4k was your physics teacher? |

Abeg na newbie I be for this thing 800k setup cannot carry all the load you mentioned for 24hrs. Assuming the loads are rated as follows; 2laptops = 88watts 2phones = 10watts 1router = 10watts fan = 90watts Tv = 100watts Total wattage = 298watts You need about 5kwh battery to run all the above load from 6pm till the next morning. Only the battery will take the 800k that you have. |
