Politicians are now grouping and regrouping ahead of the 2019 general elections. Make no mistake about it, they are doing all these for their selfish interest. As usual, they will use you and dump you once the elections are over. The time is drawing close for Nigerians to stand up to save our Country. It is the duty of citizens, in the face of tyranny, bad governance and corrupt leaders to resist. We must learn from the great movements of history, following in the footsteps of those who walked for freedom. Martin Luther King, Mahatma Ghandi and Nelson Mandela have set the example of the citizen’s right to disobey a fraudulent, unelected and dictatorial government who is blind to the suffering of the people. We must do away with the old brigade. |
To the Urhobos, both those occupying Delta Central and in diaspora, December 21st, 2015 was and remain a symbolic date. A day one could aptly described as a "DAY OF LIBERATION" for the Urhobos. A day the lifting hands of God visited the Urhobos through the instrumentality of the law court as the Court of Appeal sitting in Benin City, Edo State, nullified the election of the then senator representing Delta Central senatorial district in the Senate, Senator Ighoyota Amori. It was a protracted struggle for power and legal battle which lasted for 7 months until the Court of Appeal in their wisdom unanimously affirmed OBAISI OVIE OMO-AGEGE as the true winner of the March 28, 2015 Delta Central Senatorial Destrict election. Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege with this affirmation by the law court and its aftermath, remains one of the most embattled legislator with different ferocious opposition mostly from the camp of those perceived to be injured by the Appeal Court judgement of December 21st, 2015. They will simply not give up even though the senator representing Delta Central in the floor of the 8th Senate has distinguished himself. Within and without, Omo-Agege has been brutally opposed for his dareful spirit and standing by what he believes. But, in spite of these, Omo-Agege has continually come under the hammer of arc-political enemies who are unmindful of his legislative accomplishment, however, that has not made the Obaisi of Urhoboland to lost his focus. Rather, his touch as a representative of the 4th (arguable) ethnic nationality on the floor of the 8th Senate remain visible in the key of a legislature. Conscious of the burning desire for rapid development across all communities in Urhoboland, Omo-Agege has embark on constituency projects in fulfilment of his election campaign promises. I weep for Nigerians especially our dear youths. Was it not same people who congregated in the name of forming a political party to right the wrongs PDP in their days ploughed Nigeria into? Was Atiku not part, Melaye? the who and who you now applauds for a job well done was in the APC that has failed today. Or, is the APC a ghost? No wonder the chines proverb said, fool us once, shame on you, fool us twice, shame on us. |
The essence of politics is to develop our communities. However, anything short of this reasoning is political self-serving.
