We won't receive you in APGA - Uche Onyeaguocha warns Governor Rochas Okorocha.

In a bid to save his political career and future, the Governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha has made moves to join the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA Political Party. Rochas Okorocha made this move having lost out in the just concluded All Progressives Congress APC Ward Election held in Imo State where he failed to install his loyalists in various key positions in order to preserve his political dynasty.
Of great importance to the serving Governor is the enthronement of his son-in-law Uche Nwosu as the next Governor of Imo State.

Information coming in from APGA has it that Governor Okorocha offered the party the sum of 3 Billion Naira which APGA rejected. A press release by one of the governorship aspirants Uche Onyeagocha reads:

Hon Uche Onyeaguocha, a frontline APGA governorship aspirant in the state has condemned in strong terms the clandestine moves by Governor Ethelbert Okorocha to join APGA. Hon Onyeagucha also applauded the leadership of the party for rejecting his 3billion naira offer. Consequently, we are aware that since last week now, Governor Okorocha who was humiliated in the ward Congresses of his party by the allied forces of APC coalition in the state has been making surreptitious moves through the leadership of the party to defect to APGA to enable him perpetuate his third term agenda. We have stated this severally that Governor Okorocha is in self succeeding mission to rule the state to perpetuity to enable him to continue to loot the state dry. Now, we have been vindicated.

This battle-for-survival and last minute scheming of Governor Okorocha to join APGA has indeed confirmed the level of his desperation towards making his son-inlaw the next Governor of the state. This is a man who rose to political limelight as governor of the state through the platform of APGA and later dump the party for his egocentric interest. Today, Governor Okorocha is approaching the same party he dumped and had on several occasions described as a social club and NGO that has no capacity to win elections. Also, it was the same Governor Okorocha who had on several occasions admonished Imolites not to identify with any party that is not at the center. Today, he is turning back negotiating to join the same party he said has no capacity of winning elections. Such a chameleonic lifestyle is highly repulsive.

Yes, we understand his present predicament as a confused politician who is now in a crossroad of his end-time adventurous voyage, but we can only sympathize with him on his journey to early political retirement.No political party will ever admit Governor Okorocha because his presence will bring a colossal failure to the party. Before contemplating joining APGA, he should first apologize to Imolites for the atrocities he has committed against the people of the state.Finally, we sincerely advice him to remain in his party APC and continue to search for the missing Result Sheet, Who knows, he may find the Result sheet and bounces back as a political Maradona he claims he is.
This is our candid advice.

Saliu Ladayo, a 24-year-old boy has stabbed his girlfriend to death in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Ladayo stabbed Confidence Nwamaka, a 19-year-old college student, on Tuesday evening after a minor disagreement.

Reporter247 gathered that the incident happened at Falodun Street, Off Oshinle Quarters, Akure.

According to a source who witnessed the brutal incident, the two lovers had been dating for a long period but had always been at loggerheads.

He said the late Nwamaka, who was writing the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) until her death, had always been having trust issues with her boyfriend.

“Ladayo and Nwamaka were inside the house when suddenly an argument ensued and which led to a heavy fight,” he said.

“Before we knew what was happening, the boy had stabbed the young girl and by the time we rushed her to hospital she had already given up.

“It was later the boy told us that the girl was accusing and cursing him for dating other girls, which made him to stab her".

Femi Joseph, Spokesman of Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the case of the death of the student on Wednesday, disclosing that the case was reported to the police by some neighbours in the area.

He stated that the culprit was immediately arrested and had been cooling his head at the Police headquarters in Akure.

“The boy has confessed to us that he stabbed his girlfriend because she always accused him wrongly of double-dating, and cursed him,” Joseph said.


“It was out of that annoyance that he brought out a knife from the house and stabbed her in the stomach. We shall continue with our investigation and charge him to court to face the law.”

Reporter247 learnt that the parents of the girl have asked the police to do a thorough investigation and ensure the killer boy is prosecuted.

Minister of State for Education Prof Anthony Anwuka last week proposed a one-year post-graduation training to be offered in some specialized institutions in order to make Nigerian graduates employable.
He spoke at a retreat organized by the National Universities Commission [NUC] for members of Governing Councils of federal universities.
The retreat, which took place in Abuja, had the theme "Elements of Statutory Governance, Procurement and Financial Accounting in Nigerian Universities." Anwuka said many university graduates were not good enough to be employed by industries.

The minister partly blamed the un-employability of graduates on the failure of the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme [SIWES] in Nigerian universities. He said SIWES is not playing its role in bridging the gap between universities and industries. the proposed one-year re-schooling, Anwuka said, would serve as a training ground for graduates to be well equipped with the rudiments of the course studied in the university.

The SIWES programme, which was introduced in Nigerian universities, provides for undergraduates in all science and applied courses to go for industrial attachment in industries and companies relevant to their courses of study.

The Lagos State government on Monday shutdown another illegal orphanage home, Pro Labore Der (Labour for God) in Badagry Area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria and rescued 24 children.
Officials of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development stormed the orphanage home at Gbetewo Village in Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Badagry and shut it for operating without approval.



The existence of the illegal home came to the notice of the Research Department of Ministry through a distress call which detailed the activities of the home to enforcement officers of the government who swung into action to carry out the rescue operation.

While the operator of the home absconded at the arrival of government rescue team, children rescued during the operation were between the ages of four months and a pregnant 17-year old girl.

Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Agboola Dabiri said the state was not going back on its words to make all illegal homes non-existence, stating that the children’s right was a priority to be protected.

Dabiri expressed grievances at uncertainty surrounding the general well-being of children in illegal homes, reiterating that unregistered homes had been given an ultimatum to register under government, as failure to comply meant automatic closure and charging operators to court.

“For no reason should children be deprived of their rights. Adequate care, feeding, shelter, clothing, and healthcare is their right. We are not against adoption, but patronage of an illegal orphanage is a crime,” he warned.

He debunked believes that churches and mosques were eligible to register homes, saying religious organizations had no right to certify and authorize the operation of homes in the State.

“It is fine for churches, mosques to own orphanage homes. We are not against that, but they do not have the right to give licenses or authorize the operation of a home. Only the Ministry has the mandate of regulating and authorizing operation of homes. No rest for illegal homes, nobody should hide behind religious organizations,” he said.

The Commissioner urged landlords in the State not to accommodate anyone seeking shelter in their houses but must be aware of activities of their tenants to avoid harboring criminals.


While commending the traditional chief of Gbetewo, Gabriel Babatunde Mehoto who was instrumental in the rescue, Dabiri called on members of the public to support the government in its course to achieve a better and safer society.

Twenty of the children are currently under rehabilitation in government homes across the state, three physically challenged with down syndrome is in the hospital, while one is seriously ill in the hospital.

multinational companies operating in the country," it said. "It is obvious that the current government of the country lacks political will to proffer sanctions on defaulting oil companies in the country."

While lamenting the continued degradation of their environment, the statement, signed by President of the organisation, Austin Azobo, said peace would continue to elude the country until the region gets its due.

"We make bold to say that peace will elude Nigeria except Niger Delta is given her due place in the country," read the statement. "It is equally appalling that the Muhammadu Buhari government cannot enforce the compliance of its directive given to oil multinational companies to relocate their operational headquarters to the Niger Delta region."

It further gave a directive to IOCs to vacate the region if they cannot obey the demand, saying: “Our attention has been drawn to the gross failure of oil multinational companies operating in Niger Delta to return their operational headquarters to the region despite several directives from the Federal government of Nigeria.

“It is our warning that oil multinational companies refusing to relocate their operational headquarters to the Niger Delta should quit or vacate the region. It is provocative and absurd for oil companies operating in the region to undermine the clarion calls of stakeholders to relocate back to the region.

“It is imperative to note that our environment is being polluted and degraded day in and out. Our ecology system has been damaged. We inhale hydrocarbon particles and emissions emanating from gas flaring, uncompleted combustion and other oil activities, but no justice is done to ameliorate it.

"It is sad that Nigeria is governed by oil companies. It is a pity that Nigeria has turned a lawless state where oil companies dictate laws that should govern the country and how it should operate. We are disappointed at the government’s failure to compel these companies to do the needful."

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige has said that contrary to the voting pattern in 2015 where Anambra voters favoured the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, with their votes, 2019 would see a clear departure from such practice.


Ngige said the 2019 presidential election would see Anambra people voting massively for President Muhammadu Buhari.

The minister, who was addressing the newly elected local government executives of the party at Ojoto, Idemili South local government area of the state, urged them to get down to work to ensure that Buhari garners over 70 per cent of votes cast in the state.


He expressed optimism that President Muhammadu Buhari will be re-elected in the 2019 general elections.

The minister, who hails from the area, said Buhari has done so well to merit re-election.

He said, “I stand before you today to say Mr President has done so well in all ramifications. He will be returned by Nigerians in 2019 in a landslide victory.”


Ngige said the APC would contest all elective positions in the general elections.

He hailed the party for what he called smooth and peaceful local government congresses held in the 21 LGAs of the state on Saturday.

He said contrary to what the “prophets of doom” had expected, the APC in the state had a hitch-free local government congresses.

Also speaking, National treasurer of the APC, Chief George Moghalu commended the party for the peaceful conduct of the LGA congresses in the state.

He said, “I’m very optimistic the same good conduct will be witnessed during the state congresses”.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has stated that it would attack Ohanaeze Ndigbo during its summit billed to hold in Awka, the Anambra capital, on May 21.

The group said no amount of security mobilised to the venue would stop it from carrying out its threat.


A statement issued by the IPOB media and publicity secretary, Mr. Emma Powerful and made available to DAILY POST in Awka, stated that Nwodo and his leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo would be held responsible for whatever damage that accrues from the proposed summit.

IPOB had months back warned Ohanaeze Ndigbo to desist from holding any summit that would discuss restructuring of Nigeria anywhere in Igbo land as doing so would incur its wrath.

The group said its interest was rather a summit to discuss a referendum for Biafra, than a summit on restructuring.

The press release described the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo as traitors who allegedly want to celebrate their betrayal of Biafra’s freedom using the summit as cover.

“IPOB had since warned Nnia Nwodo and his collaborators in Ohanaeze not to bring their one Nigeria summit to the heartland of Biafra but they remain adamant. The only way this summit can hold is unless the heaven falls on the 21st of May.

“It seems Nnia Nwodo and his Ohanaeze Ndigbo don’t understand the language of liberty, we shall meet them head-on in Awka on the 21st at Ekwueme Square. They better bring enough squadron of their Fulani soldier friends as always to provide them protection and kill us all because the summit will not hold.

“We are urging all IPOB families to mobilize to storm not just Ekwueme Square but to saturate the whole of Anambra State and Awka from all directions on the 21st of May, 2018. Awka will be occupied from midnight of the 20th of May to 5pm on the 21st.

“We look forward to meeting Nnia Nwodo and his Fulani soldiers in Awka on the 21st of May 2018. They better come prepared,” the statement read.

The Federal Government on Friday said 7. 6 million children are being fed daily under the National Home Grown School Feeding Program, (NHGSFP).

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during a visit to Alagbaka Estate Primary School in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Friday.

Prof. Osinbajo was in the state for a two-day visit for the launch of the Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs) clinic.

Prof. Osinbajo who taught the pupils and also partake in the meal alongside Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State noted that the purpose of the home grown feeding program was to ensure that children are fed with a good everyday.

He explained that the meal will also improve the children's health, boost farming and create job opportunity for Nigerians.

Responding, Grace Ekpemogu, Headmistress of Alagbaka Estate Primary School, Akure said increase in the number of pupils benefiting from the home grown feeding program will go a long way in repositioning the education sector especially at the primary school level.

The Vice President also interacted with volunteers in the N-power program during the visit.

While speaking with the volunteers, the Vice President disclosed that another 300, 000 youths would be engaged in addition to the existing 200,000 graduates.
The Vice President revealed the new set of volunteers would teach pupils in public primary schools.

"I have seen firsthand what the N-Power teachers were doing in the classroom, teaching using tablets. I was able to see it for myself and also use it in teaching the pupils.

"As you know, in the program, each of the teachers have a tablet which contains materials for teaching and I wanted to see in particular how they used the tablets and the materials.

"I think it's a very revolutionary thing. First of all these young men and women who have volunteered under the program.

"And also the fact that we have been able to put all our teaching materials on a tablet which can be easily used by the teachers", Prof. Osinbajo added.

Speaking at the event, Governor Akeredolu commended the Federal Government for their efforts in bringing both programes to the state.

He attributed the success of both programmes to the positive relationship between the state and federal government.

"It is rather unfortunate that we are just joining. Our caterers in the NHGSFP are being paid monthly which has improved the economy of the state.

"The food that I and the vice president can eat means that it's a sumptuous meal that is being prepared for the pupils.

"What we need to do is to ensure that we get more school pupils registered. The Federal Government is ready to feed them also," the governor added.

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to the country following his official visit to the United States.

The President arrived in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday night, days after he left the country to meet with the U.S. President, Donald Trump.


Earlier, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, had announced on Twitter that President Buhari would be back in the country later in the day.

The President’s arrival was, however, delayed due to “a technical stopover” he had in London on his way back to Nigeria.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, had told newsmen that the President travelled in a smaller aircraft.

He explained that the flight crew travelling with President Buhari decided to break the long journey to refuel and do the routine checks, adding that the procedure was normal.

Jibrin Ndace, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sani Bello of Niger State, has claimed that his principal has been living in a ‘boys’ quarters-like’ apartment since 2015.

He said the development was due to the dilapidated state of the official quarters he inherited from his predecessor .


Ndace said on Thursday when the Coalition for President Muhammadu Buhari and Abubakar Sani Bello paid him a courtesy visit at the press gallery, Minna.

Though, he did not disclose the location of the apartment where Bello currently lives, he, however, said that the boys’ quarters-like apartment which is a guest house is not too far from the Government House.

According to him, “The governor is a down-to-earth man who has been living in a boys’ quarters-like apartment since he assumed office in 2015.

“When he came on board, we met the Government House abandoned, with dilapidated structures.


“The Governor’s Lodge renovation project, which was ongoing for years, was abandoned by the previous government of Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu; but it is now being renovated and the governor is almost completing it.”

Ndace also added that the parameter fencing of the Government House was so porous that “even goats jump over because it is so short, not to talk about people.”

The Secretary of the All Progressive Congress in Rivers State, Emeka Beke and four others on Thursday survived a ghastly accident in Port Harcourt.

Beke was driving to his office along Forces Avenue, Old GRA in a black Toyata SUV with five persons on board when a tree along the road side fell on the moving vehicle and crushed the car.


This came just few days to the party Ward Congress, which is shrouded in controversy.

Beke and others were rushed to a private hospital for medical attention after they sustained various degrees of injuries.

The APC Secretary, while speaking with newsmen from his hospital bed, said, “I don’t know how I survived. What happened was unbelievable and unexpected. I don’t know what to say. I am still very shocked and surprised.”

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N10.7billion for the establishment of 10 new rice mills.

This was disclosed yesterday by the Ministers of State for Agriculture, Heineken Lokpobiri after the Council’s meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.


Lokpobiri said that the Council approved the 10 rice mills with the capacity to produce 100 tonnes per day, and the mills would be managed by private rice millers.

“Today the Federal Executive Council approved the establishment of 10 very large rice mills to enhance the milling capacity of rice value chain in the country.

“Few years ago it was reported that this country needs a minimum of 100 large rice mills. As of today we have about 21 but Federal Government in its wisdom decided that today we should approve the establishment of 10 at the total cost of N10.7billion.

“These would be given to the sector to manage which they will be pay back within a given timeframe as it would be agreed between the Bank of Agriculture and the Rice Millers,’’ he said.


According to the minister, the mills will be located in Kebbi, Zamfara, Benue, Kogi, Bayelsa, Anambra, Kaduna, Ogun, Niger and Bauchi states.

Super Eagles’ manager, Gernot Rohr, has given reasons he will not marry a Nigerian woman.

Just like former Nigerian manager, Clemens Westerhof got hooked to a Zimbabwean lady during his sojourn in Africa, Rohr, when asked in an interview with the Sun if he would consider marrying a Nigerian lady, said it would be difficult.


He cited cultural background and language difference as main reasons he won’t marry a Nigerian.

Rohr, a Franco-German replaced former Nigerian international, Sunday Oliseh as Super Eagles coach.

Asked if he would likely take a second wife in Nigeria just as Clemens Westerhof did in Africa, he said, “My president (Amaju Pinnick) joked about it recently.

“He said he was going to hand me a Nigerian woman and we all laughed about it.


“To be sincere, Nigerian ladies are very beautiful and tempting but it is going to be very difficult to marry one. Language and cultural background will be a serious barrier.”

A spokesperson to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Reno Omokri,has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari has been rejected by followers of Satan.

Mr. Omokri made the claim on his Twitter handle. He was reacting to the description of President Buhari as ignorant by the US-based Church of Satan, following the murder of two Catholic priests and 15 of their parishioners in Mbalom, Benue State, on Tuesday. The Presidency had described repeated attacks by herdsmen around the country as satanic, an action that angered the Church of Satan.

Responding in a coarse tweet, the Church of Satan said: "President Buhari is ignorant. Infighting between two different Abrahamic religions is just that-theists killing theists. It has nothing to do with us or Satanism, a life-cherishing atheistic religion. Shame on the media for furthering this superstitious nonsense."

Sequel to the dismissal of the President by the Church of Satan was a call on him by the Catholic Bishops'Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) to resign from office. The call was made in a statement jointly signed by Most Reverend Augustine Akubeze, Archbishop of Benin and CBCN President, and Most Reverend Camillus Umoh, Archbishop of Ikot-Ekpene and CBCN Secretary. The CBCN based its call of the failure of the President to arrest the country's descent into anarchy. The Bishops urged the President to take the path of honour by “stepping aside to save the nation from total collapse”.

On Friday, Mr. Omokri, on his Twitter handle wrote: “Within 24 hours, the Catholic Church rejected Buhari and the Church of Satan followed suit. The World Bank on Wednesday said Sub-Saharan Africa’s growth is projected to reach 3.1 percent in 2018, and to average 3.6 percent in 2019–20.

This is contained in Africa’s Pulse, a bi-annual analysis of the state of African economies conducted by institution.


The report noted that the moderate pace of economic expansion reflects the gradual pick-up in growth in the region’s three largest economies, Nigeria, Angola and South Africa.

The growth forecasts are premised on expectations that oil and metals prices will remain stable, and that governments in the region will implement reforms to address macroeconomic imbalances and boost investment.

“Growth has rebounded in Sub-Saharan Africa, but not fast enough. We are still far from pre-crisis growth levels,” said Albert G. Zeufack, World Bank Chief Economist for the Africa Region.

“African Governments must speed up and deepen macroeconomic and structural reforms to achieve high and sustained levels of growth.”


Punam Chuhan-Pole, World Bank Lead Economist and the author of the report, said “For many African countries, the economic recovery is vulnerable to fluctuations in commodity prices and production”.

“This underscores the need for countries to build resilience by pushing diversification strategies to the top of the policy agenda.”

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Nkeiruka Ngwu, female, 36 years old of 47 Ogundana Street, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, a mother of four children, for physically abusing her ten- year -old househelp by name Chioma Samuel whom she brought to Lagos from Umuoju, Ngwu in Abia State sometime in January 2018 after the death of the girl's father.

A statement by the command's spokesperson, SP Chike Oti, says Nkeiruka Ngwu has made life a living hell for the child. Chioma has been mentally and physically abused with many injury marks to show for it. Her latest tale of woes was recorded on Wednesday 7th of March, 2018 when the suspect allegedly used a well heated clothes iron to cause grievous injury on the victim's hands and legs. She also poured hot water on her which scalded her skin.

However, on Thursday 8 March, 2018, Nkeiru's cup of iniquity got filled when she brought her children to a private school located somewhere in Ikeja, unfortunately for her, the prying eyes of other mothers who came to the same school to drop off their kids, noticed the gaping wounds on the upper and lower limbs of the victim who accompanied the suspect to the school. After questioning the girl, they waited for her Madam who had gone to drop her kids in their different classrooms. When she finished and was about to drive off, she was confronted by these women who nearly mobbed her. They were calmed by some teachers who heard their voices. The women told the suspect to take the girl to a hospital or else they would petition the Commissioner of Police Lagos State whom Lagosians have come to know as one who takes strong stance against such crimes and other related crimes against children, women and vulnerable persons in the society.

In spite of their warning to report her to the authorities, Mrs Nkeiruka Ngwu like the proverbial dog that wouldn't hearken to its master's clarion call when death is lurking around the corner, stubbornly came to the school on Friday 9th March, 2018, accompanied by the child victim whose wounds were manifestly untreated.

On seeing that their warnings were taken for granted, the women made good their promise to call the attention of the Commissioner of Police,Lagos State to the matter. The CP immediately ordered the arrest of the woman and directed the Gender Section of the Command to take the child-victim to police hospital for proper treatment. They are to ensure that the girl is fed very well until the Social Welfare Department of the Lagos State Government come for the girl .

Investigation into the case is in progress meanwhile the adult offender would have her day in the court of law on Monday 12th March, 2018.
