Since its debut on December 15, 2023, 'A Tribe Called Judah' has been setting unprecedented records in the Nigerian film industry.

It not only had the biggest opening weekend in Nollywood but also became the highest-grossing film directed by a woman and the highest-grossing Nollywood film ever, reaching the N1 billion mark domestically in just three weeks.

SportsWinners Of The Africa Cup Of Nations From 1957 To 2021 by AfricaFactsZone(op): 3:43pm On Jan 05, 2024
The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the premier international men’s football tournament in Africa, has seen Egypt and Cameroon emerge as dominant forces over the years.

Egypt, the inaugural champions, has won the title seven times, while Cameroon has clinched it five times. Senegal, the current champions, achieved their first victory in the 2021 edition (held in 2022) by defeating Egypt in the final.

Initiated in 1957 with just three teams, AFCON has expanded significantly, featuring 24 teams in the main draw and 52 in the qualifiers.

The tournament is organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and has been held 33 times, with 14 different countries having won the championship.

Egypt marked their dominance early, winning the first AFCON in 1957 by defeating Ethiopia. The tournament initially had irregular intervals but became a biennial event from 1968.

The number of participating teams increased over time, from eight in 1968 to twelve in 1992 and sixteen in 1996. The latest editions in 2019 and 2021 saw 24 teams compete.

The scheduling of AFCON was adjusted in 2013 to avoid conflicting with the FIFA World Cup, moving to odd-numbered years.

The tournament has showcased world-class talents like Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast), Sadio Mane (Senegal), and Mohamed Salah (Egypt), with Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’o holding the record for the most goals in AFCON history.

Egypt’s success in the tournament includes a remarkable hat-trick of wins from 2006 to 2010, while Cameroon has also had notable achievements with five titles and several podium finishes.

Senegal’s recent victory in 2021 marked a significant milestone as their first win in the history of the competition.

Foreign AffairsIsrael Gaza War: Why Africa Is Divided Over Israel And Palestine War by AfricaFactsZone(op): 3:39pm On Oct 10, 2023
Israel-Hamas war: Why Africa is so deeply divided over Israel and Palestine: In January this year, Mandla Mandela took a bold stance when he called for the freedom of #Palestine and #WesternSahara at the opening ceremony of the under-17 African Nations Championship in #Algeria.

Speaking at the newly built Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers, Mandla was met with contempt from #Morocco, which controls about 80% of Western Sahara and has pushed for its authority over the territory to be officially recognised.

The #PolisarioFront, backed by Algeria, controls the remaining 20% as the #SahrawiArabDemocraticRepublic (Western Sahara), which is recognised by the #AfricanUnion as a FULL member.

Morocco happens to be one of the African countries that support Israel in one of the world’s longest-continuing wars, the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

In recent history, Morocco’s claim to Western Sahara was recognised by the #US in 2020 under then-president Donald Trump.

The US’ support was a trade-off for Morocco’s recognition of #Israel.

That means Algeria and Morocco are on different sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In a statement in response to the recent attacks, Algeria condemned the “brutal Israeli attack on #Gaza“, which resulted in “innocent sons and daughters of the Palestinian people who fell as martyrs under the persistence of Israeli occupation”.

For its part, #Tunisia said: “It is the right of the Palestinians to take back all Palestinian land.”

#AfricanUnionCommission chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat at the weekend found himself in a tight spot when he issued a statement that the #AU “calls on the international community, and the major #world powers in particular, to assume their responsibilities to impose #peace and guarantee the rights of the two peoples” in Israel and Palestine.

Why Africa is divided over the Israel-Palestine issue
Before the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) was renamed the African Union in 2002, Israel enjoyed observer status in the continental bloc.

That meant Israel, along with about 90 external #partners of the #OAU, had access to some of the continental bloc’s documents and sessions, provided they supported the bloc’s work.

The Confederation of African Football on Wednesday awarded Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania the hosting rights for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

As expected, Morocco won the rights to host the 2025 edition of the Cup of Nations after Nigeria and Algeria withdrew their bids.

Morocco hosted the Cup of Nations last in 1988 and had won the bid for the 2015 edition before CAF stripped them of the hosting rights. The North Africans had asked for the Afcon to be postponed because of the Ebola virus.

SportsVictor Osimhen History, Goals & Record by AfricaFactsZone(op): 3:01pm On May 11, 2023
The Nigerian international Victor Osimhen is regarded as one of the game’s top young attackers, but how many goals has he really scored so far?

Victor Osimhen, a star for Napoli, has been making news for all the right reasons lately, and his outstanding displays for the Serie A team have attracted interest around Europe.

In fact, Europe’s wealthiest clubs have taken note of his impressive goal-scoring statistics, with teams like Manchester United, Bayern, and Chelsea all showing interest in hiring him in the near future.

The Nigerian international, who has similarities with his childhood hero Didier Drogba, has emerged this season as one of Europe’s most lethal marksmen.

With physical strength to match his quickness and presence, Osimhen’s game exhibits the same degree of violence and destruction.

Osimhen’s style of play exhibits the strength and poise of Drogba, and his prolific record attests to his innate talent to score goals.

Victor Osimhen breaking Samuel Eto’o’s Record in Serie A

According to ESPN, Osimhen’s strike broke the record for the most goals scored by an African player in the Italian top division in a single season, which had been held by the illustrious Samuel Eto’o, as well as making him the top scorer in Serie A.

The legendary Cameroonian scored 21 goals for Inter Milan in the 2010–11 campaign, but they were unable to defend the championship they had won under Jose Mourinho because they allowed AC Milan, a local rival, to beat them to the finish line.

Osimhen matches George Weah

According to CBS Sports, Osimhen has now tied Liberian icon George Weah for the most goals scored by an African player in the Italian league with his 46th goal.

The 1995 Ballon d’Or winner spent five years in Milan and made the accomplishment in 114 games, whilst the Nigerian striker did so in just 78 games during his first season.

PoliticsBackground Study Of The National Youth Service Corps Around The World by AfricaFactsZone(op): 9:45am On Feb 22, 2023
History of the National Youth Service Corps

Early in the 20th century, national youth service corps programs were first introduced in the United States. It may be dated back to a speech made at Stanford University by philosopher William James.

He said that "conscription of the whole youth population should labor on the harshest professions, from fishing fleets and coal and iron mines" (A Study of Promising Models in International Development Strategies 2011).

This lecture brought awareness to a fresh approach to youth development. Franklin Roosevelt, the president of the United States at the time, answered William James's call to action by establishing a program in 1933 that encouraged young people to contribute to nation-building during the Great Depression.

The program's official name was Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). It can be claimed that this program was successful while it was in place since it allowed America to build magnificent structures and open up employment possibilities.

International National Youth Service Corps

There are national youth service corps in many places, and they were established for various purposes. In different places of the world, it goes by many names.

In France, it is commonly referred to as civic service. "Civic service is a voluntary commitment on a general interest mission, which lasts for a period of 6 to 12 months, of 8 months on average, at the rate of at least 24 hours a week," according to a description from the French Ministry of Culture (French Ministry of Culture 2021).

It is known as Servicio Social in Mexico. It was founded in 1936 to rebuild the nation following the Mexican Revolution.

The program was targeted at college freshmen and aims to develop politically, economically, and culturally aware citizens.

During this time of service, physicians are sent from urban to rural regions in an effort to narrow the wealth gap between the middle class and the peasantry.

It was formed in Kenya in 1964, one year after the nation gained independence. Defense is given more attention.

At the time of its founding, Kenya was experiencing instability, making it crucial for the nation to involve the youth in beneficial programs.

It was created to impart a culture of nation-building and rebuilding while simultaneously providing young Kenyan men and women with training in a variety of practical skills (Were 2019).

In order to promote a deeper sense of national solidarity and duty among all segments of Ghanaian society, a national youth service program was formed in Ghana in 1976 by military directive 208.

Its early focus was just on high school graduates but eventually expanded to include graduates of universities and other academic institutions. The program's length was cut from two years to one year.

Nigeria's National Youth Service Corps

Any Nigerian citizen who has successfully finished a first-degree course at any Nigerian university is required to serve in the National Youth Service under the terms of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Decree No. 24 of 1973.

After the Nigerian Civil War, the NYSC program was established in an effort to rebuild, bring people together, and revitalize the nation.

The National Youth Service Corps Directorate's policy is to send graduates to serve in countries other than their own home countries.

Married women who have children and can provide proof with a birth certificate of their children are the only group of married women who are exempt from this regulation.

For corps members who had reached the age of thirty, however, the exemption based on age was reinstated with effect from the 1984–1985 service year.

PoliticsHow Pele Ended A War In Africa by AfricaFactsZone(op): 6:53pm On Dec 31, 2022
Nigeria experienced civil war from July 1967 until January 1970.
Pele, the G.O.A.T., appeared to have the power to halt the conflict.

According to legend, the Nigerian civil war was temporarily interrupted in 1969 by the legendary Brazilian footballer Pele and his team, Santos, when Nigeria and Biafra agreed to set their differences aside so that Santos might play in the nation.

But did this actually occur?
And why did the best player in the world come to Nigeria in the first place?
In this article, I examine the past to uncover the true tale of Pele in Nigeria.

The Match in Lagos with Pele

In January 1969, the Brazilian team Santos set off on a lucrative football tour of Africa.
Exhibition games were scheduled to take place in Algeria, Ghana, The Congo, Nigeria, and Mozambique.

The tour's main attraction was Pele, the finest football player in the world at the time and a player for Santos.
He had previously won two world championships and would lead Brazil to their most illustrious triumph in Mexico the following year.

He attracted large audiences, which allowed Santos to demand huge appearance fees for their exhibition games.
Fans were prepared to pay to watch him play against their clubs because they wanted to see him perform.

2) African migrant workers and refugees;

3) Black Bedouin;

4) African-American “Black Hebrews,” who call themselves the African Hebrew Israelites.

Each group is made up of a different ethnic, religious, and social group, and they don’t talk to each other much. These groups, which are mostly black in a mostly white but multi-ethnic country, show how complicated and multi-faceted Israeli society is.

They professed to have had some significant awareness of the presence of these mermaid-like divinities for over 4000 years. Additionally as per Dogon folklore, the old home of these (initially rough) reptilian (half-lady/half-men/fish) pantheon of water spirits is accepted to be the dark and celebrated star framework in the belt of Orion known as Sirius (or Sopdet, Sothis), all the more prominently known as the “Canine Star” of Isis.

PoliticsThe 42 Laws Of Maat In Kemet' (the Original 10 Commandments Of The Bible) by AfricaFactsZone(op): 9:52am On Sep 10, 2022
Kemet is the name given to the country currently known as Egypt today. The surviving artifacts of the Kemet kings and copyists prove that Kemet law and order was "Maat" also known as the 42 Laws of Maat.

The Goddess Maat as the Cosmological Origin of Kemet Rule of Law

Maat or Maʽat refers to the antiquated Egyptian ideas of truth, balance, order, harmony, regulation, ethical quality/morality, and justice.

The basic law of the universe. The Egyptians accepted strongly that each individual was answerable for their own life and that life ought to be lived in light of others and the earth in mind.

Similarly as the divine beings cared on mankind, so should people care for one another and the earth which they had been given.

This way of thinking is apparent in each part of Egyptian culture from the manner in which they built their urban areas to the balance including their temples and monuments.

If one lived agreeably in the desire of the divine beings, one was living as one with the idea of ma'at and the goddess who typified that idea.

One was allowed and free to live however one wanted and completely ignore the principle of ma’at, but eventually one would face the trial which awaited everyone: judgment in the Hall of Truth (also known as The Hall of Two Truths) in the afterlife.
