Businessman and socialite, Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, kept to his promise as he has offered a letter of scholarship to Jeremiah Ekumah.

Earlier last week, Ekuma, a young hawker, was caught on camera in the Ajah area of Lagos, giving money to persons who were being transported to prison in a Nigerian Correctional Service van.

Obi Cubana, who chairs the Cubana Group, last Saturday, in an interview with media personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, made known his intention to sponsor the young boy’s tertiary education in any institution of his choice.

Keeping to his promise, Obi Cubana on Saturday (today) shared pictures of the young lad who received his letter of scholarship from the Cubana Group.

Obi Cubana, on his Instagram page, also revealed that one Mr & Mrs Afuah, based in Canada, has placed Ekuma on a N100,000 monthly salary till he finished his education.

The post read, “And God has remembered Jerry!! @jerryluck_ God used Rocky @rockyemmyphotography to make that video! And God used @daddyfreeze to connect me and Jerry!


“He has collected his letter of scholarship from Cubana Group! Thank God for His uncommon Grace! Mr & Mrs Afuah @iam_hymans who are based in Canada, we ran into ourselves last night at Cubana Lagos, and he introduced himself and said he wanted to reach out to Jerry.

“We all met this afternoon here in lagos. He has promised Jerry (and started paying immediately) a salary of 100k monthly from today till he is done with school!

“God has really remembered Jerry! Do Good, be nice, be generous! God will definitely remember you someday.”

Working as motorcycle repairer inspired me to be well educated — Actor, Muyideen Oladapo

Actor, Muyideen Oladapo, aka Lala, pleasantly surprised many during the week when pictures of his convocation in the University of Lagos surfaced on social media. The actor had bagged a Master’s degree in Theatre Arts.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, Lala stated that he had always had the passion to be well educated since childhood.

He said, “From a tender age, it has always been my passion to be educated. My parents never had the opportunity to send my siblings to school but they ensured that we acquired skills to put food on our table. But I was not happy, especially when I saw my mates passing by the workshop where I learnt how to repair motorcycle. But at some point, I became resolute to go back to school, not minding that I had to start from enrolling for the secondary school certificate examination.

My success at that after two trials spurred me to take the Universities Matriculation Examination. I was eventually admitted into the Obafemi Awolowo University, where I bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Dramatic Arts in 2015. After that, I became determined to go for my second degree and I am delighted that dream has come to pass.”

On how he felt sitting in class with younger students, the actor admitted that it was tough. He said, “The process was tough because it was not easy for me. I initially wanted to enroll for the Master’s degree in 2018 but I did not pass the entrance examination. However, I was not discouraged, and I put in for it again in 2019. As God would have it, I passed the entrance examination and the rest is history. I have never been discouraged, even when I returned to secondary school as an adult.

“I was happy to mingle with my classmates. I was delighted when I realised I was classmates with Gboyega Akosile, the media aide to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; a veteran actor, Hilda Dokubo, and some other notable personalities.”

The actor also stated that he believed that his new achievement would open more doors for him in his career. He said, “I thank God for the grace to raise my brand from a mere lout people think I am because of the roles I portrayed in movies. There is more to me now.”

Sparing some advice for other colleagues who may want to get degrees but are feeling discouraged, Lala said, “I know my story will be a great inspiration to others. I have seen the signs. Mind you, I am not flexing muscles about this because I see it as a rare privilege. I want to urge everyone, both young and old, especially those who have passion for academics to ignore shame and mockery, and go for their goals.”


Lesson: Indeed it's never too late sometimes when we think it is.

Popular Aphrodisiac seller, Hauwa Saidu, professionally known as Jaruma, has confirmed that she was arrested by the Nigerian Police.

In a video she shared on her verified Instagram page in the early hours of Saturday, the businesswoman spoke from detention, and boasted about being the next Nigerian President.

It was rumoured that the sex therapist was arrested on Friday and a viral picture which was claimed to be taken in a police station circulated around social media.

Confirming her arrest, the Instagram sensation made a two-minute video where she noted that people were making jest of her because of her arrest.

She further revealed that she was arrested because she paid N10 million to someone and the person didn’t do the job she paid for.

Towards the end of the video, Jaruma noted that her experience was only a pattern through which she’d become the next President of Nigeria.

According to her, former President Olusegun Obasanjo was in prison before becoming president.

She also said that the current President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) was also in prison before he became president.

In the video, Jaruma said, “The only thing I have to say about this is that President Obasanjo was in prison. He came out of prison and he became president.

“President Buhari was in prison and he came out of prison and became president.

“For this, you know who your next president of Nigeria is going to be. Your girl, Jaruma. It’s a pattern and that has been the cause. This must happen to you and then you become president in Nigeria.”

She captioned the video, “Jaruma live broadcast from Ningi Village Prison. It’s only two minutes. Please endeavor to watch till the end.

Born in Miami, FL to Babalawo and priest of Osun, Olomide Ogunlano and the late great jazz singing Queen and priestess of Yemonja, Yeye Omialadora Ajamu, Oba Tayese is apart of the 2nd generation of Yoruba priests whose family has traced their lineage, customs and traditions back to south-western Nigeria. The eighth born to nine children, Oba was born into a large family of spiritual priests, musicians and performers. The Oba's parents were influential in the Yoruba cultural and restoration movement of the 70's, which, along with world-renowned priest Chief Adenibi Ajamu (who so happens to be HSH' uncle), helped to establish Oyotunji African Village in Beaufort, SC; the only recognized African village in the US, sovereign to the US.

At the tender age of 8 years old, Oba Tayese was initiated into the mysteries of Obatala at Ilesa Ire Yoruba temple by his Godmother Oyabi Wangara and Godfather Odedeji; his Oriste was Baba SangoDeji Alafia. Given the name 'Odun Obatala', loosely translated as the return of Obatala in the flesh. At the age of 13 he was initiated into Egbe Egungun also that same year he completed his Right of passage for the Men’s Society and joined Egbe Akinkanju in Oyotunji African Village.

His parents felt that it was time for him to further his studies in the Ifa Yoruba tradition and sent him to live with his Uncle Chief Adenibi Ajamu In Oyotunji. There is where Oba’s knowledge was enhanced in the tradition.

With over nearly 25 years of extensive priesthood training, he is honored to follow in the footsteps of his parents and Uncle, The Oba continues the family tradition spreading Yoruba culture to its descendants in the diaspora.

After Losing his first Love and wife, Pastor Bimbo Odukoya to the never to be forgotten ill-fated Sosoliso plane Crash in 2005, Nigeria Pastor, Taiwo Odukoya has lost his second wife to yet another unfortunate untimely death in the hands of the dreaded cancer.



She is Nomthi Rosemary Odukoya, and until her death, the wife of the founder of the Fountain of Life Bible Church, Taiwo Odukoya.

Married to Pastor Taiwo Odukoya in January 2010, the South African former Miss Rosemary Simangele Zulu died at 46.

The pastor announced the passing away of his beautiful South African wife hours ago on his Social Media Account.
