I don't think so,it is carrot and stick approach.
Carrot? Is it that you don't understand issues? What is the carrot and stick in begging them to come back when they broke away? Tinubu bleeped up badly.
When he was advised to relax the sanctions then, he was doing stronghead. Now that they are holding the short end of the stick, he's lifting sanctions.
Those three countries are holding the upper hand presently in terms of negotiations and Ecowas can't start preaching any commitment to democracy to them anymore.
APC has failed in the most routine tasks once again

Pandering that is a value based subjective opinion
What does that mean exactly
You are mixing so many things up
What is your point in summary?
You don't like Tinubu?
Is there any point to this conversation?
The point is that you're making wrong claims to defend govt.
If you want to take a position at least get your facts right before you do so.
Your countering the opinion of others based on wrong facts

I am expressing my opinion if the government does something I agree or disagree with I will express my opinion. I am not an enemy of the government. I already told you I cannot speak for the government. It is reasonable to expect some increase in allocation as a result of subsidy removal but like I said there are other variables Naira has devalued by more than 100% so that is significant as well as increase in oil output
This emotional outbursts of yours does not move me
I do not not speak for the government. You cannot intimidate me from.speaking my mind.
If you disagree do so courteously or fucckk off. Your mouth no big pass anybody own
You already said you don't speak for govt. So you should leave the talking for those who do.
The subsidy removal has brought more revenue to govt. This means subsidy payments was not based on borrowing as you claimed.
Rest!!

There is no pleasing people. If he doesn't travel, they will complain.

Visits like this are status dependent. Which means heads of states meet heads of state, VP's meet VP and ministers meet ministers. If Tinubu is going it means he is meeting with the top man.
Such visits are usually planned over many months and usually the ministers and civilian servants have met many times and prepared the ground work. When HoS travel they are going to sign documents or make an agreement public. They are not going there to discuss EXCEPT the meeting is a sidelines meeting of a larger meeting eg UN or COPA.

So expect a major announcement at this meeting.
A meeting the was rejected or which one

That is why we should not put ourselves in a position where we have to borrow from them
You sell your soul in the process
Nigeria has not said anything significant about the Ukraine war or Gaza and was even threatening Niger with military action
The other day an announcement was made that British lawyers will practice in Nigeria
See how Chinese are flooding our country

So when you borrow anyhow you lose sovereignty
When last did Nigeria borrow from IMF? Has Tinubu borrowed from them?
Tinubu was pandering to the West in his policies
It had nothing to do with loans
Why didn't Buhari remove subsidy or declare war on B.Faso? Why did he ban twitter? He even borrowed from IMF!!

I am not here to speak for government
Even without subsidy removal I would expect allocation to in tease by more than that based on exchange rate
So the variables that affect allocation would include subsidy, exchange rate and oil revenue which government also claims has increased based on theft reduction.
All this back and forth nitpicking is unproductive. We can do this this Christmas if we are both jobless but I am not.
You're not here to speak for govt but you're defending govt actions. Maybe you should leave that to those paid to do it and face your job.
The FG said allocation increased due to subsidy removal.
It already negates your claim. So either you know more than govt or you're just making baseless claims

He is bitter that he was not picked for VP
Obi said he would remove subsidy on day one

Atiku said he would remove it within his first hundred days
They campaigned on that Issue
Nigerians knew Tinubu would do it and still voted him.
The consequences are painful but no one has told us a credible alternative
The botomline is even if there was no will to remove it there was no choice because Nigeria has reached the pont of borrowing from IMF and IMF simply will not lend money for subsidy. So blaming Tinubu or any other president is futile it is either the subsidy goes or the government shuts down and stops paying salaries and defaults on loan repayments.
When nearly 100% of revenues is going on debt servicing how does government continue that?
When did you send him sit down and he told you how he is bitter he wasn't picked for VP?
For your info, if it's all about that, someone like him will easily get a good post or at least contracts from Tinubu before you can get a mudu of corn from same Tinubu.
A lot of you just project yourself on others

Stop saying the subsidy money
There is no subsidy money
They were borrowing to pay subsidy and they could not find anyone foolish enough to continue lending them
They started owing NNPC which would have gone bankrupt
They are still own g NNPC since 2022 and did not pay one kobo last year
So all this

The subsidy money
that you people keep saying Upandan

Wake up there is nothing like that

Buhari even sold crude oil in advance up till later this year and spent the money
The country is broke
Nothing like
The subsidy money
But same govt claimed allocation to govs has increased by 60% by virtue of subsidy removal so what exactly are you on about

That's very statesmanlike.

NOTE: The decision to suspend Niger was a joint ECOWAS decision taken by ALL the Presidents and NOT an individual decision taken by the Nigerian President. This is to correct the misinformation of the poster above me and his dishonest ilk.

In the final analysis, negotiation skills have to kick in whenever there are crises situations around the world. Emotional intelligence is key in every human interaction for sustainable development. The military must be encouraged to return to democracy at the shortest possible time with sanctions lifted gradually to enable full integration into ECOWAS into light of several capital projects such as the international gas export pipeline project passing through Niger Republic to Algeria via Nigeria which will have huge economic significance in West Africa for gas exports to Europe.

There's still a 50/50 chance those 3 countries of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso would still go ahead with the plan for their own confederate state or union. If they do go ahead then they'll have to go through some birth pangs. Just like Senegal and Gambia that fused to form Senegambia but later broke up again to become independent of each other.

Singapore and Malaysia also fused into one union in the 1960s but later went their separate ways with Singapore majorly being the better for it under the guidance and leadership of the late Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew who took that city-state from a developing nation of about 3 major ethnicities of Chinese (over 80 percent), Malays, and Indians, to a world-class, technologically and economically advanced nation.

Is he no longer the chairperson of ECOWAS? The Jagaban? Haba

Ah!!
So it is actually the ministry of foreign affairs that goes about shopping for travels for our President at taxpayer's expense. This is beyond disgusting.

And to see a rejection of an offer of visitation from our govt shows how such travel shopping is viewed by more serious countries.

Nigeria needs to wake up. The world is leaving us behind.

And why offer to visit a country you have no trade relations with if not that you're just going on a jamboree?

The ENEMIES of Nigeria and Nigerians, who are responsible for our economic woes are:

1. Bank Chief Executives / Chairmen of Banks (round tripping and arbitrage).

2. Bank Managers (round tripping and arbitrage).

3. Governors (present and past) large deposit of Security Votes converted to dollar. Imagine dollars that would be in the house of Akpabio or Wike for instance. All past and present Govs are guilty of this.

4. Senators ( present and past) kick back from oversight function in dollars.

5. Reps members (present and past) kick back from oversight function in dollars.

6. Ministers (present and past) bcoz they take bribe from contractors in dollars.

7. Political actors / Politicians. They're are thieves and Nigerians should stop hailing them.

***Those 1-7 above stock dollars at home and convert it to Naira when election comes***

8. DG/CEOs (present and past) collect bribe on contract inflation in dollars, then settle Minister in dollars to avoid removal or being replaced.

9. Contractors. They go straight to Zone 4 Wuse Abuja regularly to convert Naira to dollars. They're like agents or tools in the hands of political appointees.

The above are the enemies of Nigeria and Nigerians. They're the people responsible for the state of Naira today.

Over $35b are in the hands of the above listed enemies. That amount is enough to save Naira and Nigeria economy from further drifting.

Let no Gov, Minister, Senator, or Reps members deliver one paper presentation to point accusing fingers or blame anyone. They're the problem, they're the enemies of Nigeria.

Recently I watched Tony on TV talking about the economy and I laughed. I laughed bcoz his audience were clapping.

I wish they knew the damages and the pain he had caused this nation.

They're billionaires without factories. Companies they're expected to fund are closing shop while the banks are making huge profits. How?
This is rich coming from you.
Who is Tony by the way

Fasua is an economist, while Cardoso, as former chairman of a defunct commercial bank would have experienced the rough tides of the business, against which he could not thrive

https://thenationonlineng.net/cardoso-tope-fasua-and-national-economic-recovery/

The nation newspaper needs to rejig its pool of columnists. I don't think I've read a more poorly written article.
Devoid of research and indepth analysis.
The writer summarily reduced banks to thrift collecting without bothering to find out what exactly is the role of a bank in an economy.
The writer adopted the posture that the problems that bedevil the economy stems primarily from the banks.
However, he did not identify the problems nor the solutions and how they can be applied. Instead he singled out two personalities as solutions to the banks' induced problems. I've never seen such level of convoluted reasoning!
Worst still, he reminded everyone that one of the two persons is a failed banker, but he expects he has garnered a lot of experience from managing a failed bank and is set to apply them at this critical juncture to a failed economy. What twisted logic!!
This is just like saying a man who failed maths in Waec is the best teacher for a student who has failed multiple times.
The Nation should be ashamed of this article.
