To the topic, if the duties on imported rice stands at 60%, why is the imported rice cheaper than the locally produced ones? Nigeria we hail thee.

The cost of production is extremely high here. And since there is no massive demand to make up for the high production cost, the price is better left high. That way farmers won't run bankrupt.
