CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by agbotaen: 3:55pm On Oct 02, 2013
1. i will not argue with sentimental people , utomi might be popular in lagos , where he lives , but in delta politics , he does not have a grassroot appeal or may be he will win only in aniocha/oshimili area, it is a known truth that okowa is one of the greatest grassroots politician in delta state , and obielum from ndokwa is also a great grass root politician , what will happen to utormi is like what happened to festus keyamo who thought because he was popular in lagos will win an election in delta central and he lost his party primaries ,
2/ for the records , okowa is now the highest political office holder in delta north being a senator of the federal republic, he has been a councilor , secretary to local govt., chairman of local govt., a commissioner , secretary to delta state govt and finally a senator,
3/ okowa was the runners up for the election that brought gov. uduahan into power ,and was also one of the key players in his re-elections.
4. to win an election for governor in delta state , you need to appeal to other ethnicities , and in ika we have men like chief of staff , festus okunbor , sam obi , cairo ojougboh, godson echegile eguabor and ifeanyi okowa , and these men are movers and shakers of delta politics .
5. pat utormi was rejected by igbo people during the 2007 , elections for the presidency , where oheneze leaders , even questioned his igboship , and his name utormi , which they felt was not igbo , and its true , although utormi identifies himself as igbo , so na wao ooo?

6. if all igbodo people love igbo so much , why did they chase the wife of their obi from ebonyi state ? and called her a foreigner ?
the thing is that igbodo falls into parts that genuinely believes they are ika and those that believe they are igbo , and that goes for ekwuoma too , and they speak ika and aniocha , though their ika seems very different from what we speak .
7. the igbo man cannever speak for ika and that is just that, ika people do not lie , we abhour lies and useless propaganda , there are some few ikas that fought for biafra like anuku , but majority fought against biafra , just like some few yorubas fought for biafra like the banjos , ademuleguns , but majority of yorubas fought against biafra .
8. with all intents and popurse ika is a distinct ethnicity , that is totally different from igbo
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by agbotaen: 3:29pm On Sep 27, 2013
1. why igbo people like to lie like this , if you pretend not to know the stance of majority of ikas during the civil war ? where did the nigerian troops kill people and destroy things in anioma,? it is in the aniocha/ oshimili axis . you want to know why ? it is because many of their communities accepted that they were igbos and heavily fought on the side of biafra .
2. majority of ika people including all our kings , rejected the notion that they were igbos and also assisted the nigeria troops to expell biafra from ika land.
3. there were quite some few ika people who fought for biafra , but they were in minority , while the majority fought against biafra.,and that was why ika did not suffer any major disaster during the war , with the exception of some areas like igbodo /ekwuoma , who had many igbo migrants and supported biafra ,and they also did suffer.
4. let it be noted that in or family album , we have pictures of muritala mohammed ,during the war and he resided in owa kingdom, and the owa people and umunede and other ikas gave him total support , infact muritala was giving the title of ojeba of owa kingdom as at that time , and he was very friendly with owa people , in a book published by his royal majesty the obi of owa , dr .efeizomor , he said that due to his suppport of the nigeria army , the biafrans declared him wanted dead or alive , and that his ancestors saved him .
5. during the civil war the obi of agbor, umunede, mbiri, otolokpo, owa, igbanke and others were part of the midwest leaders of thought during the civil war with headquarters in benin.
6. it is not all aniocha/oshimili people that claim to be igbo , and why do igbo people always have need to lie ?
1. ebu kingdom is in anioma , but they are igala people predominantly .
2. ugbodu kingdom
3. ukunzun kingdom , please note that before it was a yoruba name called eko efun, later changed to ukunzu and many other yoruba , olukunkmi communities exist in delta north or anioma.
4. of recent the ugbodu kingdom came out to proclaim their yoruba/olukunmi heritage and many igbo propagandists started attacking them , but my question is why do igbos like to be at logger heads with their neighbours ? why do they think they can always use their population to oppress others ?

6. ika is a people that came to ika land from different ethnic nations at different times and now have fused together to be ika , some ikas came from benin, ishan, ora, ndokwa, igbo, aniocha, and even yoruba , but have fussesed together to be ika, but the major foundation of ika land was laid by people from benin /ishan, before others came.and ika people wish to remain ika , the highest socio- cultural group is ogua/onu ika , majority of ika people and 100 percent of ika kings do not belong to any other ethnic organisation except onu ika, they do not belong to ohaneze ndigbo .
7. if you want to learn correct owa history avail your self of the book , ndiowa and her monarch , that is a book written by committees set up by the whole owa kingdom, and also check www.ndiowa.com . owa people refer to themselves as ika people and never as igbo .
2. intelligence report written in 1913 , by the british about owa , said that owa kingdom was founded by benin and igbo influence, in 1932 another intelligence report said the same thing , that owa has a dual foundation of both edo and igbo foundation.
3. the great german , african historian oli bierer who visited agbor in 1950s , said that agbor/ika is the land of west meet east, and that our culture draws from the benin and igbo culture and that ika/agbor was a facinating ancient land.
4. from all intent and purpose owa kingdom was founded by the binis/ishans around the 6/7th century as the migrated from ikoha led by adagba who was a native of ovia in benin, and ugbasogun from benin.
8. if i say that ika or ndokwa will produce the governor , if it is zoned or shifted to delta north , i know what am saying , but i will give only few reasons, it is from these two axis that we have strong political figures in anioma , now that can appeal to the rest of deltans , and you do not win elections by appealing to only your ethnic group , as delta is a multi ethnic state and any one that will lead must appeal to uhrobos, isoko, ijaws and the aniomas , and right now it is the ndokwa and ika politicians that have that appeal .
9. okowa is right now one of the most popular politician in delta state and the topmost political office holder in delta north or anioma area and there is nothing you can do about that and you cant even stop him from going any where in oshimili /aniocha area , sorry ooooooooooooooo.
or some of the projects he has helped to attract in your area , you wan destroy am ? bad belle no good oooooooooo,
abeg clap for ika people , we no de come last for delta politics, we are always the bride that must be won , .

10. oga igbo man, the beautiful thing about me is that my ancestors and lineage helped to build owa and they were some of the founders of owa kingdom, so i be son of the soil and not only that i am a descendant of the great obi igbedigin no gidigan , who ruled owa , and prince omigie and agbontaen of idumu-izomor village in owa- oyibu , go and ask of igbedigins lineage or omigie , we have produced great military men like anuku who was the first nigeria naval officer to be trained abroad and first biafra navy commander, edward anuku minister in western nigeria, sam ebonka former deputy governor of delta state, kuti okoro , assistant commisioner of police, chief francis anuku the former chairman of old ika local government, patrick acha, the former chief librarian of college of education agbor, chukwuma ayetin the edionma of alizomor , chief egbai ihama of owa kingdom, chief morka ohormi the late ihama of owa, major general ugo buzugbe the secretary to nigeria army and many others ,uwa ogboi the teacher who wrote many books on ika language, aiguoba agbontaen ,the late professor of economics , university of benin, and others.
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by agbotaen: 7:41pm On Sep 25, 2013
1. i am pure ika and i and majority of ika people will always remain ika , there is no ika king that is part of ohaneze ndigbo or any igbo ethnic group meeting , and anioma is a word that was coined from ika , ndokwa, aniocha and oshimili , so if you remove ika from it then there is no more anioma , what you will is anoma, we have checked through our history and we know that we have never been igbo at any time and that is why the attempt to force ikas to be igbos in 1967 met a brick wall and failed , we know our origin and we are proud of it , ika is an amalgamation of many tribes fussed together to become one , just like igbo is a fussion of many groups who agreed to be one , and ika has never been part of igbo and will never be .
2. we have been great , and that is why even during the reign of the benin empire , it was ika that always engaged in serious wars with benins with varying results , and that is why agbor kingdom was the largest kingdom east of benin , consisting of many kingdoms now in anioma area , that are now independent , and up till date the pagant and glory of agbor kingdom canever be equalled by any other kingdom , with the exception of benin , and itsekiri kingdoms, so we know our history and we are proud of it .
3 . the owa kingdom also made history when it engaged the british in a full scale war in 1906 , and captain crewe reade was killed at owanta by tete okunbor osagie , an owa general , and our obi ogbeihaga eboigbodin igbeoba was captured and deposed to warri, along with chief osaigbovou the ologboshere of owa , and prince usiade , so we know our history and it is well documented .
4. even in aniocha area , there are people who are igalas like ebu kingdom and yorubas like ugbodo , ukunzun and others , they know where the migrated from , and they all agreed to be anioma , while some claim to be igbo , some say they are not igbo and that includes the ika people in majority and that formed their decisions in 1967 , and that is why they are not part of ohaneze today .
5. for you to know that ika people are serious , we do not celebrate igbo day like most aniocha/oshimili communities do and we are not part of ohaneze , those you will see there are people like pat utomi from ibusa , or people from ogwashi and the rest communities , you will not see jim ovia there or omojafor or obaigbena , or irabor , or usiade there , they are members of ogua/onu ika , the apex socio-cultural group for ikas .
6. being igbo or not being igbo will not give ika any thing , but our collective drive for success will lead us to the promise land and as far as delta state is concerned politically by appointment or in business and private life ika has faired very well .
7. i predict that if delta north will become governor of delta state , it will come from either ika area or ndokwa/ukwani area, because of several reasons .
8. most igbos here are very insultive ,and if i insult them back they will become angry , well when people are uncultured from their traditional back ground , they always misbehave ,
9. i am an unrepentant ika revolutionalist armed with correct ika history , and i am proud of being from a great and ancient lineage of ika kings , so blue blood is in my veins and my ancestors were warriors , and i am proud of my village , idumu-ezomor in owa-oyibu ,
like our chants go ---------------------
umun igbegidi no gidigan ,
adhuaran okenyen ,
obi hun gi edeke obi arira uku,
omamburu amaifon,
agbogidi , agbon eforikor.

children of igbedigin the great warrior ,
giant amongst men,
the king that uses other kings blood to wash his legs,
no person can throw stone at the moon,
you are the great moon,
the great ampibious person , may your descendants not dissappear .

long life ika nation ,ika ooye .

1 is ika land igbo ? you are just sick and that is why your oji uzor kalu said lagos is a no mans land and he got the yorubas angry .
2. the same thing your brothers did saying ika is igbo land and we kicked you guys out with assistance of federal troops , go and learn to respect others , we dont want to be a part of an expired product like the igbo you are trying to sell to ika people , na by force
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by agbotaen: 5:58pm On Sep 24, 2013
1. whatever you posted about delta state is pure fallacy , delta is made up of many ethnic group , such as itsekiri, uhrobo, isoko, ijaw, anioma , which is made up of ika , ndokwa, aniocha and oshimili people , even in delta there are many ukwani amongst the uhrobos like the orogun people in ugheli, there is the okpe people amongst those we call uhrobo , and the okpe people have started to crave for their seperate identity , in anioma we have the yoruba olukunmi , people , igala -ebu people, in ika we have two language group of ozara and those that speak ika , and amongst the ndokwas they also have isokos , so we are really a mixed and connected tribes or races in delta.
2. igbos are always crying marginalisation and they seem to have also affected some anioma communities with their crying bug, since creation of delta state uhrobos have ruled two times , with iboris 8 years rule being the highest , and now we have an itsekiri governor , so what about isoko people have they ever ruled delta or have a deputy governor ? the answer is no , it is just now that isoko have a secretary to delta governor ,
what about ijaws ? ave they ever ruled delta ? the answer is no , they have never produced a deputy governor or any key post in delta government , and this is the first times that itsekiri is becoming delta governor , and delta is just 21 years old , so why all these cry ? or is asaba not an anioma town ? and the capital of delta state , is it not near iseleuku ?
3. anioma people have occupied key positions in delta state , so they should ask their sons , what they did for anioma ? and hold them responsible and stop behaving like the igbo man that blames every one for his problem except himself.
4. anioma man from ika has been deputy governor , acting governor , secretary to government, chief of staff , accountant general , speakers , and now the new speaker is from onicha olona , i think that is ochei, and other big position, an ika man is also senator , so what have all these people done for anioma , or are we the only people in delta state , right now ika also have an ambassador , and anioma has a minister while uhrobos have none , so who is marginalising who?
5. anioma also has the creme de la creme of nigerian business with the pat utomis, elumelus, the jim ovias, the obaigbenas, omojafors, and the okochas , so why dont they develope anioma and bring business instead of developing abuja and lagos , or is okonjo iweala not from ogwashi uku ? why cant she develope her town ? let animas stop crying marginalisation as that will not give them developement or political progress , they will only end up like the igbos , whos preocupation is to cry wolf , while others strategise and get what they want
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by agbotaen: 5:36pm On Sep 24, 2013
1. well i dont blame you , you are an igbo goat from the bush in igbo land , if not for oyinbo people your fathers were living an unorganised life in the igbo forests, and indulging in eating human beings , ozuor , and your are an obolo, you are also an oseka , le ilolo ,
2. igbo goat , the same lies and propaganda and uncessary proudness that got your people into trouble with the rest of nigeria , and neigbouring tribes is in you , and many of your types , what will an ika person do with a descendant of an unorganised and kingless society , ? we will use you to kwa ese , that means we will use you to do sacrifice , igbo goat, shameless man , from an ever crying tribe, always crying maginalisation , and no wonder your uncles in lagos said that lagos is no mans land , and they got a shove from yorubas , or how else can you come to another persons land and say it is a no mans land ,
and wetin una de find for ika people body , una go see am , well i trust my people they will throw your people out , if they make any useless claim of ika being igbo tribe, or you don forget the 1967 issue , that our fathers assisted in chasing your uncles out of ika land ?
3. you say that ika should stop bearing your names , well , it is for those ikas who have decided to bear igbo names and there is nothing you can do about , luckily ika also bears benin names , infact , it is the benin names that is our family names ,.

4. tell all igbo communities to stop using kingship, because they borrowed it , igbos dont have kings , they took it from ikas, benins, and yorubas , and tell your kings , especially in onitcha to stop using the words agbogidi , because it is a benin name , they should stop using words like ugagbe for mirror in onitcha , or any igbo town because na benin word ,
5. why are igbos so naive and clueless , and why do they like propaganda , this word onu, is used by igbo for mouth , yoruba call it enu , and benin call it unu , so who borrowed it from the other ?

6. mr igbo , even if you give me one million naira , i will never change my ika tribe to igbo , please go and give your tribe a new name or try and slavage its image that is very negative ,

CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by agbotaen: 4:42pm On Sep 24, 2013
1. write any thing you write , on the internet , ika knows who is ika and who is not , ika is not igbo and cannever be igbo , and this igbo you are propagating is just a recent natiionality that did not exist about 200 years ago , like i always say , it is tribe or nationality assisted by the british, and ika has never been part of it, we have viewed whatever makes a person accept he or she is igbo and it is not present in ika, many nigerians are often confussed that is why they still say hausa-fulani , you are either hausa or fulani , there is nothing like hausa fulani.
2. as for the man who wrote about delta state government , the government of delta has recognised ika as a seperate and distinct language and hence , there is now ika news being read on delta radio, and ika is a part of anioma , as that is how many delta north people like to be addressed , we are all not igbo , those who call themselves igbo , are the aniocha/oshimili people , you can never see or hear an ika man call himself igbo , that is abomination,
3. if the igbos love ika so much , let them change their tribes name from igbo to ika , and lets see .
4. it is not size that makes a nation , as any distinct group of people is a nation , ika is also a nation because as a nation we have 3 languages , 1. ika, 2. ozarra, and those that speak aniocha..just like igbo is a nation.
5. there was a time , when isoko was called uhrobo , but later the were able to clearly demarcate themselves as isoko nation.
6. if you combine all ikas is edo and delta state , then you will know that ika is a nation.

AKUMAZI is an ika kingdom ruled by obi steven osagie , the kingdom had its first obi in 1201, he was called onona
2. then they had akuma in 1307, then itami, iyayi , idinagun, orokonafor, ugbede in 1625, followed by unuehenren, ojere, ekowe, and ojeh in 1740,agwie, diagbon, oyetoyi 1733,uzonta ,ojefor in 1790,diai, usifor 1833,agholor,and osagie the first in 1890,jeghbefume osagie in 1946,and steven osagie from 1953 till date.
akumazi was fouded by a benin migrant called onona and his wife akumaborwei , and the kingdom was named after the wife ,it is one of the oldest kingdoms in ika area
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by agbotaen: 5:13pm On Sep 23, 2013
1, ika is a distinct ethnicity , and quite different from igbo , we have never in history identified our selves as igbos,
2. our ideology about life is different from that of an igbo perso.
3. we ackowledge igbo migratios and some igbo culture in ika ,but we also have heavy benin migrations and culture rooted in ika.
4. ika is an amalgam of many tribes who have intermarried and agreed to become one ethicity, which was clearly definned since 1930,
5. we are a great people and we are proud of our traditions, and our achievements in nigeria, despite our not too large population ,no imperialist forces have been able to keep us down, in ancient times our fathers fought the benins with varying success, during the civil war we assisted in reppelling biafra from our land and defeated their claims that ika is part of igbo.
6. our tribe has made success in politics /governments and private sector in nigeria from the late egbarin who established a doft drinks factory in agbor, dr. oka orewa, the local government administrator per excellence, the okungbowa michael who was first ika medical doctor,
to the first nigerian director of survey chief fortue ebie, the ogbemudias who ruled , and to the late obi of owa ,steven ikokoh, obaigbena who became the first prison cotractor in midwest nigeria, commander anuku who was the first nigeria naval officer trainned abroad and later became the commander of biafra navy,or is it late obi of agbor , obika gbenoba who was a minster in western region or the primate of anglican church in nigeria nicolas dikenriehi orogodo okoh, or prince nduka obaigbena who is a media guru ,or chief jim ovia who founded zenith bank , one of the best banks in africa, or steven omojafor the president of advertising council of nigeria , let me stop here ,
infact ika people una too much, like we say mbie ko bie , obieke omekere ,ni ekpansun hi efan nnedi e ,
7. can an igbo man represent an ika in nigeria , answer is no , ika must be represented by ika.
8. even though we agreed to be part of anioma, the four groups making up anioma know their differences ,but we also share many thigs together , there is a difference between aniocha, oshimili, ndokwa and ika,
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by agbotaen: 5:13pm On Sep 21, 2013
1. i am not digging into any thing , i am simply speaking the language of my people , and yes we have to encourage ika people to learn our language as it is , and give ika names to their children instead of names that do not reflect our language, i am am owa man , and i have never heard my father or uncles or village people speaking , chioma or chidinma , in their sentence , so why should i encourage them to bear names like chidima that is not ika.
2. the ogua /onu ika have taken a good step to revive ika language , by publishing the bible in ika language and encouraging people to write books in ika , so that ika people can learn ika and read it , and also by setting 2016 as the take off date for ika language department of college of education agbor , that will help correct many pidgeon ika spoken by many people
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by agbotaen: 5:07pm On Sep 21, 2013
1. igbo people una propaganda no de end , you also want to teach me ika , you make me laugh ,
2. ika dialect is divided into five or six variations, but it is mostly categorized as three dialects .1. central ika 2. western ika and eastern ika - ika spoken around igbodo , ekwuoma , owere olubor and the rest ,
3. ika language varies from town to town or clan to clan , and i am an owa man , i speak ika as spoken in owa , you cannever understand what happens in an ika village setting unless you are ika proper or from a particular clan , the way we speak our ika is not an igbo mans business , they should focus their mind on their igbo , period .
4. examples are --------------------
1. an abavo person will say nni sia- i said , owa will say ya gha sia - i said,
2. a typical agbor person will say olo- house , while an owa person will ulo, and an ika man in the eastern axis will say uno,
3. agbor , owa, abavo will say ulakpa for police , while an eastern ika person will say unakpa,
4. umunede will say osenobue for God , while owa/agbor will say oselobue ,
5. owa will say mme le - me and , while some will say me ni , they are all ika dialects,

i have often said that there is pidgin ika language and real ika language , just like we have pidgeon english and queens english , i was brought up to speak real ika , as spoken by owa people .
in owa kingdom , even village to village might have certain words and greetings they use also ,
5. in area of greetings some ika clans greet uweoma baba , but in owa kingdom , and abavo , we still retain our greetings ,

1. such as liye or laiwe or laiwezeoooo, or doooo, obori , and others , i bet igbo propagandists will still say they are igbo greetings , found in abia state ,

for the fact that ika has been influenced by the early igbo /aniocha preachers and teachers used in bringing christianity /education via the british , and influence from our neighbours , we still know our language and words that were borrowed that were not in original ika lexicon , and that is why the ogua ika is going to introduce the ika language depratment into the agbor college of education ,
2. if i say, nani , it simply means how are you, are you sick.
irehun rie me i ?
i am going to render a popular christian song , that was composed by a choir master from agbor , and this song won an award in the iseleuku diocees , during quoir competition ,

igbos are just propagandists who are too naive to say the truth , you just pick up one or two words and say , they are igbo words , why dont you pick all my words and say they are all igbo words. the truth is that many nigerian languages share some words together such as -

1. yoruba call mouth enu, igbo call it onu , ika call it onu , benin call it unu, so who stole the word from each other .
2. yoruba call nose imu , igbo call imi , ika call it imin
3. yoruba call ears eti, igbo call it , nti ,
4. yoruba call bag - akpo, igbo call akpa, ika call ekpa
5. benin call dog ikite, igbo ,nkita , ika , nkite or ikite , so who stole it ,from whom ,

are all these words igbo words, my igbo propagandists you never seize to amaze me , why worry about a race that dont want to have any thing with you , even if you cry from now till kingdom come the majority of ikas will always disagree with igbo people and will never agree to go with igbos , for anything , but like i said keep writing your trash on the internet , and finally have you seen any notable ika person or monarch in ohaneze ndigbo meeting , the answer is capital no, the traditions of ika people is very different from that of the igbo people
CultureRe: The Truth About The Number Of Nigerian Languages by agbotaen: 4:12pm On Sep 18, 2013
1. ika is a distinct ethnic group , and as such is as bonafide as igbo or bini, although our language has come under heavy influence of both bini and igbo , the ika language is a mix of many dialects, and if ika is correctly spoken , there is no way , it can be clearly understood by an igbo man , and it is neither standard bini or igbo. our culture seperates us as a distinct ethnicity , and in 1930 , our elders made that known to the british , and i dont know why igbos are mounting a propaganda for ika to be igbo, whether the british or igbo propagandists classified ika as igboid , ika wish and will always remain seperate as ika ethnic group, even the bini claimed ika in 1930 , and it failed , igbos claimed ika in 1967 , it also failed , and today ika do not associate or attend any igbo ethnic group meetings , but ika has ogua/onu ika as the umbrella body for ika ethnic group .
2. due to the influence of both edo and igbo on ika ethnic group, ikas bear both edo and igbo names , but the surname or family names of most ikas are bini/edo names , and most of our towns and villages still bear edo names.
3. initially according to tradition the bini/ishans were the first migrants into ika and they spoke bini/ishan , but later igbos also migrated there , and other ethnic groups too , and so later they spoke both bini and igbo , but as time went on the languages of igbo and bini was mixed to form ika language , and even up till date there is still an edoid language spoken by some towns in agbor kingdom called ozara,
4. the bini had long recognised the eka people as being a seperate entity although having ancestral links with them , but at the turn of the 19th century , the british missionaries introduced education and christianity using igbo teachers and missionaries , so many things were distorted in ika land , but later ikas had to reassert themselves as ika ethnic nation .
5. our language is our pride and the ika language is definitely a unique language of its own , and we are a tribe of our own , ishan and bini have great similarity in language yet , they are a seperate tribe , itsekiri shares many things with both yoruba and bini , yet its a seperate tribe , isoko and uhrobo are very similar , yet seperate tribe , so the ika is a seperate tribe , despite some similarities with both bini and igbo

1. sorry for you mr igbo , i have never claimed to be benin , i am hundred percent ika , go and look at all my writings, i am proudly ika , and i think you are only pained by the fact that majority of ika people do not claim to be igbo , i can tell you ika also has yoruba connections too , and even other tribes too migrated into ika area too , ika is a heterogenous community , people came from different places into ika, but later due to intertribal marriages and trade , all these people united to form ika.
2. even the most developed urban area in ika bojiboji agbor and bojiboji owa , was named in yoruba language , as bojiboji is a yoruba word , it has its own history .
3. tracing our history to benin , is just for the records , and some ika villages and towns also trace their history in parts or full to igboland , that is also for historical purpose but the real issue is that ika is now ika , it is an ethnic group of its own , we are no appendage to any nation , be it igbo or benin.

1. AS an ika man , one day i went to a friends house who was a bini person,, and he was telling his brother in benin language to get him a plate and palm oil , and i was able to correctly tell him , what he said in english , his brother was surprised but he simply said , it was because ika contained lots of benin words and sentences, so also when a person is speaking igbo , i will be able to understand,.
2. i am not saying that i understand all benin sentences, but i can safely say , may be i can decipher about 40 percent, to 50 percent , but as a person born in lagos , and i understand yoruba excellently well , i was able to discover that ika has lots of similarities with yoruba in aspect of some cultures and language too, so i investigated , and discovered that yorubas also migrated into ika area, and this is well documented in umunede and other places in ika , and in orogodo area , yorubas have lived for over 100 years there , but the migration , am talking about is more than 300 years ago.
3. although when we talk about ika ethnic group , we usually talk about the influence of both edo and igbo on ika , but little is written about the yoruba connection , but it is still subject to much research , the dein of agbor and agbor history usually says that the first wife of the king of agbor came from ife or uhe as it is called in ika language , while some traditions say she was igala.
4. let me run through some words in ika that is similar to yoruba ----------------------------------------------------------

2. nail in ika is ise ,in yoruba its iso

15. holder of cutlass in ika is omuada , in yoruba is on mu ada
16. shirt is ewuru in ika , its ewu in yoruba,
17. barren woman is agan in ika and yoruba is agon,
18. chair in ika is aga/agarah , in yoruba its aga
19. small child is omomo in ika , yoruba is omo
20. egba is a ring in ika and yoruba its also egba,
21 , adagba is a cloth for men , in yoruba its agbada,
22. a small farm house is ulubi in ika , in yoruba its ileaba,
23. person in ika is ihian in yoruba its eniyan,
24 . deaf is odin in ika , in yoruba its odi
and many more words that needs more research , but i also give credit to my unlce late edion eric ogboi who wrote ika book one to six and the ogua ika for promoting ika language

its propaganda most igbos were fed during the civil war , that the oba was pointing to igbo areas and he told nigeria troops to kill all igbos , and many anioma people also believe in these propaganda, war is not a tea party and you try to win at all cost, although some benins did not behave well to some aniomas during the war , but also why should some aniomA soldiers conive with biafrans to capture benin? so many mistakes have been made on both sides , so i think we should live together because edo and anioma have many affinities,

1. uniting with another people is not by force, germans united out of love , but ika has already united with her kith and kin both in edo and delta state and others with our cultural affinity , no reasonable and real ika person wants to unite under igbo umbrella , at lease 99 percent of ika wants to be ika , except for some ika people in ekwuoma/igbodo , and we the rest are not disturbbed.
2. the igbos and ika dont share same world view , and so such unity is an exercise in fultility , and it seems most igbo people do not know the difference between ika and other anioma people , let them intensify their efforts to study who the ikas are .
3. we have already rejected the igbo option in 1967 , and we dont intend to revisit it , we have moved ahead and our ogua/onu ika is our mouth piece , please go and read more about ogua/onu ika , that speAks for ika ethnic group.
4. igbo, ika, yoruba, ijaw ethnic nationality was a creation of the british , they did not exist 200 years ago , what existed was our various villages, towns or kingdoms or empires, and so africans could cris-cross their ethnicities , it was not a rigid thing , and igbo tribe did not come from heaven but was founded by man , inorder to defend her territory and political nature , and so are all nigerian tribes of today , ika people have taken a view of all existing tribes in nigeria and we believe that only ika ethnicity can guaranty our political safety , and not any merging with any big neigbouring tribe be it igbo or bini, and that was why we reject the theory that benin owns ika in 1930 and in 1967 , we also rejected the theory that ika is igbo , and we succeeded.
5. we are very happy to be ika in a multi cultural nigeria, and we are not interested in being igbo and that is why you cannot see any notable ika person as a member of ohaneze ndigbo or become a mouth piece of igbo people , rather we speak for ika , like our brother obaigbena who spoke to newyork times as being from ika ethnic group, .

1. the truth is that all nigerian ethnicity is a result of politics and british influence, 200 years ago , there was nothing like igbo tribe, bini tribe, ika tribe, hausa tribe , yoruba tribe or ijaw tribe , but these different people that came together due to some times language similarities, or cultural similarities or political influence did not exist as a tribe , but we had kingdoms, empires, and villages or towns as seperate units , like prior to the coming of white men , owa KINGDOM, EXISTED AS a seperate entity ,but we knew of the existence of other ika people like agbor , umunede and binis, ishans, and aniochas, ndokwas , due to migration, wars, intermarriages and trade , and later we became part of benin empire, and nigerians, and later western region, midwest, bendel and edo state , and so there was no way ika could have been part of old anambra state , because we never had any political allignment with the eastern nigeria.
2. we took a bold stand of who we are in 1930 , when ika elders declared that they were not binis and that they did not belong to any other ethnicity in nigeria , than being ika.
3. we are very proud of being ika ethnic nationality , i can tell it to the whole world , and i am very proud of my ancestory ,
1. ika had great monarchical government , so why should i not be proud , that our ancestors built great kingdoms such as agbor , owa , umunede, and others , like oligie etc, and if igbos feel that monarchy is not good , why is it that all igbo towns and villages now have igwe this and that collecting money from government and using his royal highness or majesty ?
2. agbor kingdom is one of the oldest kingdoms in nigeria with a beggnning in 721 b.c , it was known as ominijie and the capital was orhue , now in agbonta, and our dein of agbor was crowned as the youngest king in the world ,and in my place of birth in owa , our fathers single handedly battled the british almost to a standstill in 1906 , when we killed the assistant district officer of benin , captain crewe reade , and other great strides of ika people , and i am happy being ika , i dont want to be any thing else .
3. like i have always said all ika people did not come from the same place as some came from benin, ishan, ora, igbo, aniocha, ndokwa, yoruba , and other places , but we only acknowledge that most of the towns were founded by binis before others came , and but the greatest influence on ika language and culture came from both benin and igbo , and these makes ika to be a unique culture.
4. when i was born my father told me that we are from the kingly line of owa kingdom and that we are descendants of obi igbegidi, and that our ancestor prince omigie was a benin man , but that owa/ika had gone through lots of changes and now we are ika ethnic nation, and we are proud of it.
5. for most igbo people here , why is it that majority of ika kings and people dont attend any igbo ethnic meeting or their ohaneze ndigbo ? the reason is that ika in majority believe they are not igbos, but we also have few ika people especially from ekwuoma and igbodo who feel they are igbos, and so that is ok with them, but as for majority of ika people we dont want to have any thing to do with igbo , or any other tribe , but we are happy being ika

1. in ancient nigeria before the colonial times , and just after colonial times , most nigerian tribes had tribal marks to distinguish them , from their neighbouring tribes ,and i have taken time to study many ika people who are 100 years and above or 80 years plus , and i found out that they had a tribal mark called igu, performed by the osigu or okawina and those who had idinwina ,our traditional nurses and midwives , while in benin , they called it iwu also perfomed by owinas, and they are strikingly similar , but that is not to say ikas are benins, and this igu goes clearly to show that ika has always been a different tribe ,unlike igbos that also have their different tribal marks, when i asked a relative of mine who has an igu mark , he said , it also enabled them to be able to move freely in ancient ika/ edo kingdoms and as such they wuold not be kidnapped for sacrifice:{ese}
2. ika now has a new testament and may be later this year , they will print out the old testament , and ogua ika is wrtting many books on ika language /culture, and one man has written a book like a small dictionary of ika words , but not yet a dictionary , but soon we will have dictionaries of ika , so that others will not teach us our language any more,

1. ika has never been nwafors or any other tribe , ika nation has always been vigilant and we have always succeeded in ressisting any attempt by any big tribe be it bini or igbo to colonise us into their fold , and i praise our ancestors for putting up such defence ,in 1930 , ika rejected being benin and wrote to the british and ika stood as a seperate nation, and in 1967 during the civil war , the igbos wanted and claimed that ika was part of igboland, but our fathers rejected and put up a ressistance , and the rest is now history , and ika stood again as a nation, and not an appendage to igbo ,
2. we have strengthened our resolve by founding our own socio-cultural organisation called ogua/onu ika , and 99 percent of ika people are not members of ohaneze ndigbo or any igbo ethnic organisation, what proof do you want again ,
3. let me restate the great ika universal declaration made in 1930 , to the british and it goes like this - ika is not a part of any ethnic group in nigeria, end of story , and on this majority of ika people stand ,but we still have some ika people in igbodo and ekwuoma who say they are igbo , we wish them good luck , but they cannot sway the 99 percent of ika people who believe and say they are ika.
4. i also wish the internet igbo tigers good luck , but when critical desitions will be taken , ika will remain ika , while igbo will always remain igbo

1. keke is yoruba for bycicle , in ika it is ikeke,
2. bottle is igo in yoruba , in ika it is ogorh,
3. jaw is agbon in yoruba , in ika it is agban,

1. okpan , plate in both benin and ika,
2. ihian , human in both edo and ika,
3. ukpe or orukpe is light in ika and edo,
and many more ,
if i say, dodo wehe nim urukpe or ukpe hun ri elu agara ni , it means get me that lamp on the chair , you can see both edo and igbo mixed,
2. okenyeni ka shiani m eri , this man will bear witness for me,
3. iyenren ni eyin jenkorde shime imen ogwua idumu , ke edionma ile ri ogbe enyin,ke gi kokome ebon eyin ile,

the ogua /onu ika is trying to bring back ika language to , its normal status , and correct many things spoken as ika language , especially when people change ika words and replace them with words that were not originally ika , due to influence from our neighbours or the fact that we want to speak like our neighbours , words like dibie, efere, madu, chinyere, chioma, ogbuebulu , akalaka , were not original ika words as we have our words , and ika people should also be careful in naming their children , names that do not reflect ika culture or language , i know it might take a little time , but we shall restore ika language and culture

1. we know where majority of ika people started or migrated from , it is not in doubt as all our villages and families have a well kept record, agbor , was previously called ominijie in ancient world , and agbor was ruled by ogiso and ogeles in ancient world about some thousands years ago , before the obi or dein dynasty of 12th century , as some of the kings that ruled agbor before the obi era went by the names of ohunmagho , 2. agbonzegbe, uwangue, edebiri, and others , and these were clearly edo related names and people , and most of the towns and vilages in agbor also go aby edo names such , as
1. ihogbe
2. uvbere
3. ozanogogo,
4. alizomor,
5. omumu
6. obiolihe,
7. idumuoza,
8. owuwu and others,

2. the first migrants into owa kingdom , moved in from benin , via , ikoha in ovia local government area of benin , led by adagba ,and founded owa- ofien as the first and oldest owa community, and later ugasogun from benin , founded owa- ekei, all around 6th and 7 th century and in 11 th, century benin and ishan people founded owa- oyibu led by a man called oyibu, and it was not untill later 12th century that edogun or odogun migrated into owa from ute-okpu kingdom, . when odogun came to owa , he met a ruler at imenoyibu called edo aigbedion and he deposed him and took over rulership, there was also migration from abavo kingdom into owa-oyibu , in idumuzugbo area, and idumuesah returnees in ogbeohun all in oyibu.
owa-alero was founded by a prince from agbor kingdom , named omi eborwise , and later others came from uronigbe in edo , otolokpo , ute okpu and ute ogbeje all in ika areas ,while owa-alizomor was founded by people from obazagbon nugu , and ozomor the brother of edogun from ute okpu , and so owa people came from many places to form owa kingdom,
and that is why today , owa has villages like idumu ogbe, iru, idumu ile, idumu eki, idumu ezomor , idumu usuma, and others , like alegwe, amika , and others ,
in owa the nri migration can be traced to ute okpu kingdom , and that is where owa got the igbo migrations from , as ute was already a mixed kingdom in the 12th century , where igbo migrants and benin migrants have started mixing ,
3.abavo was initially called avbabvo , it was an edo name , and the town was founded by prince avbabvo in the 12th century , but the name was changed in 1906 by the british to abavo , and later other people came from other places in both edo and delta state,
4. mbiri was founded thousands of years ago by airen , a prince of king ogiso from benin, and later others came ,0
5. umunede was formerly called ukpehoro kingdom and was founded by prince ede and iye , before others came ,
however this we have always repeated , but igbos will not let us rest , ika cannever be divorced from benins, or ishan, as we share blood ties and cultural ties , we also acknowledge our ties with igbos too ,just like itsekiri acknowledges both her ties with bini and yoruba , but itsekiri is a tribe of its own , isoko and uhrobo are related , and benin and ishan are related but are seperate tribes , so also ika is different from bini and also different from igbos, ika is a tribe of its own, and in history ika has always dissappointed those who want to take over ika tribe , i.e. igbos in 1967 and binis in 1930, let that be a lesson .
6. i am proud of my ika , ancestory and i know what my father told me , he told me , i was ika , and thats what i will always be , as some people on this web were told by their parents that they were igbos and so igbo they are.

1. owa history tell us that obi ewuare who ruled between 1402 -1446 , started igue and ibiewere festival , at the time that another king called ewuare was ruling benin kingdom, food for thought ,

1. it is your ancestors that are pigs , you are an ozuor - fool, an ilolo- a cattle and an obolo, - a crazy person, when my ancestor igbedigin was building a great kingdom in owa in 13th century , your fore fathers were still in the bush , living an un-organised life, you son of an igbon -slave,
2. i think you have still not gotten over the shock our elders gave to your land grabbing people in 1967 , and till date have you seen any credible ika leader join your igbo ethnic organisations?
3. if you think you can insult, i will give you double double , you royaless clan ,i bet you dont even know what it is to be blue blooded, my family left a history that is over 700 years old , so what have your ancestors done ?
4. i am very proud of my ika hood, i know my history because apart from reading , our ihogbe or akanwes -scribe always tell us our history and we pass it from father to son ,

1. history can be gotten by different people , and the binis certainly have their version , the ikas have theres and the british have theres, for example , when the oba of benin visited owa kingdom in 1990 , the obi of owa addressed the oba from owa royal records oral history , which states that owa and benin had ,had a long relationship, and the benin king that ruled around the early 13th century was facing a rebellion caused by edionehan , or the agbagwala war as we call it in ika , the oba sent for ijue the king of ute okpu , and he sent his eldest son called edogun or odogun to fight in the war and odogun was confered with the title of general , and along with others the oba defeated the enemies and later when odogun migrated into owa-oyibu and met people whom he later subdued ,and he later enlarged his area to include other owa towns , the oba later supported him to become the obi , when he had a dispute with the owa-ofien people, and the obi also told the oba that owa royal records , showed that when oba esigie wanted to go to war against the idah people , he also sent people to owa to ask for the assistance of owa warriors , and the obi ruling then seems to be orghogbua ,the obi of owa, and the oba did not refute this stories , and i am sure this was never recorded in any book on benin history ,
2. before the fall of benin empire in the hands of the british , the agbor kingdom has already succeeded in taking over the trade and royalties that benin collects from the river niger area , and that was why oba overanwen sent 10,0000 soldiers to ologbo and obadan inorder to invade agbor , he sent so many soldiers because agbor was a very strong kingdom , and they had many great warriors , also do not forget that even in benin history , the war that was said to have taken place between agbor and benin around 16th or 17th century in which benin historians said bini won , was also said to be the greatest ressistance that the benin ever had and it is still recounted till today .
3. nyandel existed according to agbor oral history and he wrote down many things , whether write or wrong and he is a european , so he does not need to be hundred percent accurate , and the ancient agbor was larger than what we have today as many areas in present day edo state and some areas of delta north was part of agbor kingdom , up to igbudu akan.
nyandel did not say that agbor was founded in 17th century , he only recorded that AT THAT TIME MANY FAMILIES HAD A LARGE EXODUS FROM BENIN AND SETTLED IN AGBOR AND OBIOR, agbor is many thousand years old .
4. as for the man who said agbor or ika is igbo , i think you are just fooling your self , as ika people have spoken in 1930 and also in 1967 , when they rejected the igbo theory ,that is that , majority of ika people dont want any thing to do with igbo , all they want is ika.
5. as for the likes of ogbuefi and some ekwuoma people saying they are igbos , that is good for them as they are at extreme igbo cultural area and most of their ancestors migrated from igbo land , but there are still many igbodo people whose ancestors also migrated from benin , and the unfortunate thing is that they belong to ika nation , where majority believe they are ika and so their voice cannot be heard , ika people only attend ogua/onu ika and not ohaneze ndigbo ,so let them keep aggitating , may be we will ceed them to igbos , but majority of their town people told their obi that an igbo woman cannot give them the heir to the igbodo throne , so food for thought for igbo people .
5. i dont know why the word benin use to make igbo people go gaga,? but for you information , ika nation is different from bini nation , and igbo nation , or any other nation, ika is ika

1. war is not a tea party , yes many igbos were killed , but also many biafran igbos also killed many other nigerians, and war brings out the beast in man, war does not know brothers, in owa kingdom , some idumus or villages have fought themselves bitterly in the past , even killing each order , ife and modakeke also killed each other and they are yorubas, aguleri and umuleri also killed and destroyed each other and they are igbos, bini and ishan had fought many times, and even the british destroyed many parts of owa in 1906 , during the irede war , and we have moved on, so igbos should learn to move on.
2.but more importantly , they should learn to understand and respect others and not try to impose them selves on others, as these breeds disrespect from them.
3.however , i must also commend them for their ability to expand and excell in any fields of life ,but i am hundred percent ika,and will not give up my ethnicity

1. let me state that ika is a nation and a tribe of its own, and that our fore fathers have long known they were independent of any powerful tribe , and let me specifically mention both bini and igbo , and in 1930 , our fathers made a concrete resolution of their ika nation hood again, when they told the british that they are a seperate tribe of people quite different from any known nigerian tribe.
2. this was declared when bini said they owned ika area , in 1930 , and in 1967 , when igbos came with their biafra , we also rejected them ,and their claim that ika nation is part of igbo nation , and we did succceed.
3. the reality today is that ika nation has its own socio-cultural organisation called ogua/onu ika headed by mr osifo, while igbos have their ohaneze ndigbo ,
4. our close neigbhours and brothers the binis have long known that eka or ika is a seperate ethnicity , and thats why in 1930 , when the great benin historian pa jacob eghrevba wrote a book titled -a short history of benin , he mentioned the eka tribe , and how they migrated ,and how they later got mixed with people that migrated from igbo area , and he specifically believed that ika was bini people in diaspora.
5. however like , i have also said in many write ups , ika also has igbo migrants , and so the landscape of ika is also dotted with igbo culture too, but the problem with the igbos is that , they are bent on claiming ika , which is not going to work , because ika has a seperate identity different from igbo , and cultural differences .
6. those who started biafra knew that ika was not part of biafra and they did not consult our fathers and they did not even included ika area in their biafran declaration, so that is it , .
7. when our ika ancestors where building great kingdoms and an organised society , your igbo ancestors where living in a disorganised setting with no visible rulers or organised society , but thanks to the british and the coming of nigeria , igbos now have kings or igwes and ezes who rule , so that means that monarchy is a more civilized system of rulership? and if you say igbos dont nned kings , why is it that all igbo communities now have kings ?
8. i have often said it my family is a proud ika family that has history and culture and it has been passed from father to son to us for the past 700 years , and i am from the lineage of owa kings , starting from my ancestor obi igbedigin which means , i seek refuge in the great and powerful man , he was the second agbogidi of owa , now refered to as the obi of owa , so i am quite aware of owa/ika history.
9. to answer one of the respondents , ika has always maintained her independence since the creation of nigeria, and to win any election , you need the support of all the ethnicities in delta state , and ika has always been a political stronghold even in old western region or midwest or bendel or delta state ,so get that right,
1. in old western region , we had the obi of agbor james igbenoba, as a minister , and we had chief edward anuku from owa as a minister too .
2. in midwest , we had, anthony okungbowa as minister and prof. osunhon,
3. we also had osaigbovou ogbemudia as governor of midwest ,
4. in bendel state we had ivie jegbefume , edobor osaigbovou as commissioners and others,
5. in delta state , we had sam ebonka from owa as deputy governor to gov.ibru, we had prince sam obi as acting governor of delta state, we had chief martins okonta from abavo as speaker , prince sam obi as speaker too , chief ifeanyi okowa as secretary to delta government, and now he is a senator of federal republic , and we have chief okunbor as present chief of staff to delta government , and chief agbele as accountant general delta state , and others ,
6. so if you are jealous of ika nation tell us , igbo people why dont you go and mind your business and try to solve many of your problems ad leave ika alone or do you want to vote in delta state ? you spend most of your time shouting marginalization , instead of planning to get your self in power , ikas have come a long way and we will keep going higher , we have the strategy and political intelligence to go up,
7. anioma is a coming together of many people , some believe they are igbo and many believe they are not , we live in same area and we know ourselves , so mr igbo go mind your business

5.
