Leke Baiyewu, Abuja President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki; Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and former Senate President, Senator David Mark, on Wednesday expressed their sadness over the death of the patriarch of the Ibru Dynasty, Olorogun Michael Ibru, at the age of 85. Saraki, Ekweremadu and Mark, in separate statements, described the death of Ibru as a great loss to the country. Saraki, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja, described the late Ibru as “a colossus and trailblazer who impacted humanity tremendously and positively.” He said, “Olorogun Ibru, as he was fondly called, was a pioneer of great repute who contributed immensely in entrenching private entrepreneurship and business development in Nigeria. “Simply put, he was a trailblazer in the art of running successful business and transforming local concerns into internal brands. He started small, grew great and became an undisputed reference point in the nation’s business firmament and beyond. “He was a businessman, philanthropist, educationist and community leader whose unassuming and humble lifestyle often belied his immense achievement, great wisdom and uncommon managerial acumen. He practically transformed Agbarha-Otor, his hometown with several development projects. “I can say that he is one of the phenomenal personalities in our time who successfully immortalised themselves before bidding goodbye to this plane of existence. His likes are rare. He shall be sorely missed.” A statement by the Special Adviser (Media) to Deputy President of the Senate, Mr. Uche Anichukwu , quoted Ekweremadu as describing Ibru’s death as “a big loss to the entire nation and Africa.” He said the late businessman was an exemplary statesman who paid his due in nation-building and called on the nation to immortalise him. He said, “We have lost an icon. This is a sad event, not only for the Ibru family, which I hold dear, but also for the entire nation and Africa. The late business magnate was an epitome of determination, industry, philanthropy and humility. He not only pioneered many businesses, he equally built countless lives and touched communities in many positive ways. He deserves to be immortalised by the nation. “It is sad we lost him at this critical time in our nation’s economy when his wealth of experience, knowledge, international contacts and goodwill are most needed, but we must submit to the will of God.” Mark, in a statement by his Media Assistant, Mr. Paul Mumeh, lamented that the late Ibru departed to the great beyond at a time when his managerial and administrative skills were needed to navigate through the current economic and socio-political challenges facing the nation. He said, “I mourn the death of Ibru with a deep sense of loss. I know the place of Ibru in socio-political and economic evolution of Nigeria. He was a foremost industrialist who opened the floodgate of commerce and international trade in Nigeria. “Ibru distinguished himself as a man of integrity, honesty and very resourceful entrepreneur . He was a pioneer industrialist who extended his good will and philanthropy for the benefit of the society. “Unarguably, Ibru left his positive footprint on the sand of time . We shall miss this great man. We shall miss his astuteness, entrepreneurship and resourcefulness . He was a great Nigerian who added great value to the society.” #mr.bayo from Unilorin source : punchng.com/saraki-ekweremadu-mark-mourn-michael-ibru/ Cc: mynd44 |

Mohammed Babangida drags ex-wife Rahma to Sharia Court, demands for custody of their kids Mohammed, son of Former Nigerian Military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, is currently battling his ex wife Rahama for custody of their two eldest kids. From the court documents LIB was able to exclusively obtain and also confirmation from a reliable source, Mohammad initiated the custody battle. While their eldest kids Maryam and Ibrahim are reportedly in Rahma's custody, our source reveals that two youngest ones are with him in Minna. Mohammed took the custody battle with his ex wife to a Sharia Court in Minna, Niger state and sources close to the case say they suspect foul play, saying not only was judgement allegedly carried out without Rahma and her representatives being present, but allegations are being made that the Babangidas are manipulating the case, especially since they have notable influence in the state. The Court has now ordered Rahma to hand over the two children to their father, pending the determination of a substantive suit. An insider claims this shouldn't be so. (Read here ) to learm more about Child custody under sharia law.) There is also an allegation about threats to life being made and a police report being filed to address it. Whether it's about the custody battle or the controversial audio that was supposedly leaked via Rahma's Instagram page, LIB can't confirm yet until we acquire proof. From the documents acquired, Rahma has since replied and objected to the Sharia's court judgement via an FCT Area court. #MRBAYO from Unilorin .. source : www.lindaikejisblog.com/2016/09/lib-exclusive-mohammed-babangida-drags.html?m=1

WAKE UP CALL.......By Adefila Abdullahi Ayodeji How is it possible for a poorly prepared students to succeed and a highly qualified student failed. A poorly prepared student with very poor preparation and limited ability, student who had to take college algebra three times before making a passing grade, student who fail trigonometry and had to repeat it, some of this student took more than 5 years of full time study to complete their Bachelor of science degree in engineering, but after some years he becomes a successful professional engineer and a respected member of his community. While a highly qualified student who had gone to the best high schools and had excelled in their advanced mathematics and science courses, yet they did not succeed in engineering study. Some flunked out, some just dropped out and give up. The common denominator for such student was that they were overconfident. They made the mistake of assuming that life after becoming an engineer would be like the one they live in school, they naively believed that their ability would carry them through as it had before. They failed to account for the fact that the faster pace and higher expectations for learning would require substantially more effort and improves learning skills. They didn't recognize that the had move from minor leagues to the major leagues, where the people the are competing against had much more ability. It saddens when you hear that they're working in unrewarding jobs for minimum salaries and to go back and start again but now the circumstances of their lives prevent them from having a second chance. I hope you are not such a student. One early indication of this is how receptive you are to this write up. Thinking there is nothing of value here for you is a sign that you are overconfident. If you are, hope you will consider this as a wake up call. Thinking of what are the key to success in engineering and all other field!!! What are those things you can do that will virtually ensure your success. Achieving success is a process, and each step in the process can be learned, so wake up brother and sister, go out there and learn what can make you a better person tomorrow, learn things that won't be teach in class, learn new things, exploit this world just for a brighter tomorrow. I would encourage you to make a commitment to become an "expert" on success. It's something that you can do. And the payoff will be enormous. #don't limit your learning to school curriculum #for better tomorrow Nigeria need positive idilogy from you and me. #we are black engineers, and all we do is to build the nation. I hope these write up makes front page as to enable all Nigerian students to glean and learn from it . God bless you, God bless . # MR.BAYO from UNILORIN. |
