Pop Culture: Beardless Bill Gate with Dangote Trend; what’s the Much Ado about the Narrative:
Last weekend, history was made as the daughter to one of the world richest man; Aliko Dangote had her wedding in Lagos, Nigeria, Eko Hotel and Suites.
Even if you happened to have travelled to the rocks, mars or Jupiter, the news of Dangote’s daughter, Fatima getting married to her heartthrob Jamil, must have found its way to your dwelling place. Abi?

Artiste – Progress

Song – Miracle Worker

Producer – Progress

Duration – 6:04

If you are a staunch listener of breathtaking gospel songs like me regardless of the genre, there is this special kind of feeling that would hit you the very moment the song ‘Miracle Worker’ comes on with the first few catchy liners;

‘’One million words can’t describe half of who you are

You are amazing, so amazing’’

‘’A thousand names can’t explain all of who you are’’

You are amazing, so amazing’’.

As you listen further, there’s this heavenly realm that would literally envelop your soul, you’d be left in awe. Another punchy line which means God’s glory (Chukwu Ebube) in igbo language hits you intensely again;

‘’Chukwu Ebube, Nobody can be like you

You are amazing God, wonderful is your name

Nnarekele, you are a faithful God, all of my praise to you

Wonderful is your name’’.

With real name Progress Effiong, the singer is touted as one of the most promising gospel singer from Akwa Ibom state. Miracle Worker, being his second official hit single for the year 2017, the singer did justice to his self-produced beat by bringing his A-game to the song.

With couple of hit singles to his credit; Ama, Amanam, Worship Medley and several other inspiring tunes, Progress doubles as a song writer and producer that is gradually becoming another contemporary Christian singer that will take Africa by storm in no distant time.

Sampling together elements such as; low key tempo beat, keyboard strings, acoustic strings, rendition of good back-up singers to complements the song, Miracle Worker is a sure hit song that can be best described as classic and timeless.

Miracle Worker carries fire, message of hope and fulfilment of God’s promise to the body of Christ. The song also reflects on the awesomeness of God’s love to mankind and a reassurance of the fact that God is super amazing, our healer and that there is none like him.

With such excellent delivery in the lyrics and vocals, you’d agree with me that this is another gospel hit that will cross the borders of Africa.

#BAAD2017! Why Nigerian Celebs Wed Abroad
By Uti EssienPosted on www.agog.ng (November 27, 2017)

There are weddings and there are weddings! Or let me say ‘there are weddings and there was #BAAD2017.’ Lol.

The past one week had the owner of Instagram making billions of dollars, with a larger percentage of that bar rolling in from the Nigerian angle. Dammit! We were all on our toes for the Wellingtons (and Ebuka, just like that…lol). The euphoria was just on the highest high and trust me, It has never been like this before in the history of Nigerian celebrity weddings. So, I’m looking forward to that love pair having a spot in the Guiness Book of Records.

Like it or yes, everything that surrounds that wedding was just so surreal that one cannot help but wish for the kind of luck the resplendent duo has. Is it the private relationship they had, the shocking proposal in February that was kept under wraps for months, the introduction ceremony, traditional marriage, gang or friend’s game, Asoebi game, bridal escort game, colours, couple goals, what wasn’t mesmerizing about that wedding?

#BAAD2017 was more than love like a movie and no one complained burning data to ‘attend’ and that was quite supportive from fans but what’s with our celebs and wedding outside the shores of Nigeria? Is it the security? That I know is not a problem for heaven’s sake. This country is where they met, loved, stayed, work, became that celebrity fans celebrate today, and will even come back to after the ‘abroad wedding.’ Is it about our Naija style of wedding crashing? Oh please give me a better excuse, you know such cannot happen in celeb weddings because it’s specifically attended by invitees and you are not allowed with even a handkerchief that was not planned for in the invite list. So what exactly is outside there that is not here?

Tubaba and Annie Idibia had theirs in Dubai, Tiwa, and Stephanie’s wedding are also some of the few Nigerian celebs wedding that was held abroad, why? Is there something there that makes marriages last, better or what? Is the ceremony sponsored by an organization there? Funny enough, you still end up going there with all your friends and family- the same audience you needed to have it done right here close to your fans so why the expenses down there? Is it the scenery that we do not have here?

Why do you think our celebrities prefer not to wed in Nigeria and why do you think they should?

Let’s discuss in the comments section…
