‘Be Merciless’ Air Force Chief Aneke Directs Commanders to Deal Decisively With Terrorists. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has directed Air Component Commanders under the Joint Task Force, North Central, Operation Whirl Stroke, to deal decisively and mercilessly with bandits destabilising communities within the zone. He further urged them to intensify air operations in their Areas of Responsibility while sustaining critical support to ongoing military campaigns across the country. The directive was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame. He noted that the CAS issued the charge during his maiden operational visit to Tactical Air Command (TAC) and its co-located units in Makurdi on Friday. During the visit, Air Marshal Aneke outlined the NAF’s strategic shift toward intelligence-led and technology-enabled operations, anchored on a strengthened safety culture. He stressed that operational efficiency would increasingly depend on innovation and the optimal use of recently acquired air platforms and combat assets. He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to air power readiness, welfare-driven warfare, and smarter operational strategies designed to maximise mission impact. According to the statement, the visit formed part of the CAS’s nationwide tour of frontline units to assess operational conditions, strengthen command presence, and reinforce expectations for improved mission delivery. “This is not the time to slow down,” he declared. He added, “To retain the initiative in today’s complex security environment, we must ensure the highest levels of aircraft serviceability, weapons readiness, and personnel proficiency. Nigerians recognise your sacrifices, and they rely on us to remain effective and mission-ready.” Air Marshal Aneke also underscored the importance of personnel welfare, stressing that operational excellence cannot be separated from the well-being of officers and airmen. Reiterating his policy of ‘Welfare for Enhanced Warfare’, he assured personnel that Headquarters NAF would continue to prioritise prompt payment of allowances, improved living and working conditions, and robust administrative and medical systems. He encouraged open communication within the Service, adding: “I want to hear your concerns directly because your welfare affects our fighting power. “While we cannot resolve every issue at once, we will apply a structured, prioritised approach to tackle the most pressing challenges,” he said. He further acknowledged the Federal Government’s substantial investment in modern aircraft, armaments, and advanced training programmes. “The Federal Government has shown immense confidence in us through unprecedented support. It is our responsibility to justify that trust by delivering measurable results grounded in discipline, professionalism, and excellence,” he said. In his response, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, Air Vice Marshal Patrick Obeya, expressed gratitude for the CAS’s clear guidance and pledged TAC’s total commitment to his vision. He assured that personnel across TAC remain motivated and prepared to deliver decisive air power whenever and wherever required. The CAS, in turn, commended their professionalism and dedication. “Your contributions to Operation Whirl Stroke and other operational theatres demonstrate that Tactical Air Command remains indispensable to our mission. Your courage and devotion continue to inspire confidence across the country,” he said. While acknowledging their invaluable efforts, Air Marshal Aneke cautioned that the prevailing security landscape demands sustained vigilance and heightened readiness. He reiterated that the NAF under his leadership will continue to pursue an environment that is safe, supportive, and operationally efficient, with welfare, career development, and combat effectiveness at its core.

Supreme Court To Tinubu, You Can’t Exercise Executive Power Over Case Of Culpable Homicide The Supreme court of Nigeria has written off Presidential pardon on Maryam Sanda as granted by President Bola Tinubu recently. In a split decision of four-to-one, today, December 12, the Supreme court affirmed the death sentence handed Sanda by the Court of Appeal, Abuja which upheld the decision of a HIgh Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). She would now face death by hanging. In a lead judgement, Justice Moore Adumein held that it was wrong for the President to seek to exercise executive power of pardon over a case of culpable homicide, in respect of which an appeal was pending. The Supreme court insisted that the prosecution had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt as required, adding that the Court of Appeal was right to have affirmed the judgement of the trial court. The Apex Court looked at all the issues raised in the appeal she filed against her and dismissed the appeal for being without merit. Maryam Sanda, a housewife in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, was in 2020, sentenced to death by hanging for killing her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, during a domestic dispute. President Tinubu later this year, cancelled the judicial pronouncement and reduced her sentence to 12 years imprisonment on what was termed “compassionate grounds.”

How Matawalle Allegedly Bought Vehicles, Gave Cash To Bello Turji, Shielded Terrorist A former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) in the Zamfara State Government, Musa Muhammad Kamara, has dropped a major political bombshell, publicly accusing Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence and former Zamfara Governor, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, of actively supporting notorious terror kingpins with vehicles and cash while in office. Kamara, who served under Matawalle, insisted in a viral obtained by Sahara Reporters that he personally handled some of the transactions, confirming ongoing media allegations against the former governor as “not false.” Speaking in Hausa, Kamara detailed how vehicles and massive sums of cash were allegedly distributed to highly wanted terror commanders, including Kachalla Halilu, Bello Turji, and Ado Aleru, during Matawalle’s tenure as governor. He backed up claims that vehicles were acquired and delivered to the criminals. Kamara said: “There is a clip I saw where the Mallam said that vehicles were bought. Wallahi, Summan Tallahi Billahi, vehicles were bought and distributed. Vehicles were given to Kachalla Halilu, Turji, Ado Aleru; those motorcycles were truly bought and given out.” Kamara also confessed to being a direct beneficiary of cash payments allegedly distributed to the bandit leaders. “There is another clip I saw again recently that they were ‘settled’, given money. Truly. I, Musa Kamara, was among those who were given that settlement,” he said. He further alleged that funds were disbursed to groups across all 14 local government areas of the state, claiming a sum of ₦42 million was distributed, with each local government receiving ₦3 million. In one of the most serious accusations, Kamara alleged that Minister Matawalle shielded a notorious terror leader, Haru Dole, who was said to possess “over 500 AK-47 rifles,” after his arrest. Kamara claimed Haru Dole was arrested by security operatives at Gusau Hospital and taken to Abuja. However, Matawalle allegedly intervened. “Matawalle sent his aide, Dr. Bashir Maru, to the hospital to take the man and hide him, and that was done,” he alleged. The former SSA also claimed he was personally involved in the purchase and renovation of a house allegedly gifted to terror kingpin Bello Turji. He said: “Malam Murtala also spoke about the house that was bought for Turji. Billahi, Allazi La Ilaha Illa Hu; a house was bought. I was the one who bought the house… The house was bought, completed, and handed over.” Kamara also recounted handling ₦88 million meant for purchasing cows for Sallah distribution to residents. He claimed the money was given to Kachalla Halilu and Kachalla Turji to buy the cattle, many of which were later diverted or stolen. Kamara concluded his stunning revelations by appealing to Malam Murtala Bello Assada, the initial whistleblower who is reportedly facing threats and a petition for defamation, to allow him to serve as a primary witness. He said, “That is why I want to confirm that the allegations being made are true. I beg Malam Murtala Assada, for Allah’s sake, to support me as a primary witness because I will go to court and I will speak the truth; what I know, even what Malam Murtala does not know. I will come with my evidence and prove to the court what actually happened. “I swear by Allah’s law, there are things that people do not know, and I will reveal them in court. The Mallam himself does not know some of them. I will say them because this has now reached the stage where justice must be done for the people.”

Just In: Nigeria Govt Begins Diplomatic Negotiations With Burkina Faso Over Seized Aircraft, Crew Members ECOWAS Initiates Task Force To Combat Terrorism In Nigeria, Neighbouring Countries The Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Nigerian government has opened high-level diplomatic negotiations with Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, to secure the immediate release of its aircraft and its personnel. According to PRNigeria, Senior officials from the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Defence Headquarters, and ECOWAS liaison desks are already involved in the talks. It was learned that Burkina Faso’s civilian aviation authorities and some senior military officers are themselves embarrassed by the political order that reversed their earlier clearance. “The atmosphere on the ground is calm,” one official confirmed. “The Nigerian personnel were well treated. The issue now is purely political, and both sides are trying to resolve it quietly.” A defence intelligence source disclosed that the NAF crew complied strictly with international procedures, which included declaring an in-flight emergency, requesting the nearest safe landing zone, receiving official clearance and landing safely and then undergoing repairs. Under ICAO regulations, any aircraft facing an emergency must be granted immediate access to the nearest available airspace for safety reasons. “This is standard aviation practice,” a senior flight operations specialist also confirmed the procedures. “Once an emergency is declared, sovereignty issues take a back seat until the crew and aircraft are safe.” Diplomatic engagements are ongoing, and officials expect a resolution soon. Sources insist Nigeria is approaching the matter quietly but firmly, given the unnecessary escalation and the political undertones behind the detention. “There is no hostility between the two countries,” one diplomat explained. “But the internal politics of the AES has complicated what should have been a routine emergency landing.”

Insecurity Crisis: Can President Bola Tinubu Be The Jinx Breaker ? With the United States of America (USA) President, Donald J. Trump, recently announcing that he is ready to send his country’s military “guns ablazing” to flush out those he referred to as Islamic jihadists killing Christians in Nigeria, it is as if a hornet’s nest has just been stirred — with bees going amok and stinging anyone and everyone in sight. The state of insecurity has gone so dire in a space of less than one month that Abuja the seat of federal government is said to have become no longer safe. The ugly situation has compelled the law makers who are based in Abuja to actively start helping President Tinubu seek solutions to the crisis. And just as President Bola Tinubu’s administration was celebrating the recovery of the 24 schoolgirls abducted in Kebbi State and the 38 church worshippers kidnapped in a church Sunday , 23rd November in Kwara State — even while security agencies are still scrambling to secure the release of the rest of the more than 300 girls abducted from a school hostel in Niger State — multiple kidnappings have continued unabated across the middle and northern states of Nigeria. In fact, in the past one month, it would appear as if no Sunday has passed without the kidnapping or attempted kidnapping of innocent Nigerians and churchgoers. Presumably, school children (students), worshippers and travelers have become easiest targets for the criminals due to the large number of persons that can be abducted in one fell swoop by criminals. Given the state of insecurity in our country, following the heightened rate of kidnappings and killings, and as a demonstration of my consistency in calling for the deregulation and decentralisation of the Nigerian Police, l have decided to republish this article, which l originally wrote and published on January 15, 2002, about 23 years ago. It is such welcoming news that President Tinubu appears to be on the path to becoming a jinx breaker if he follows through on all his policy pronouncements including the national state of emergency on insecurity aimed at resolving the current crisis bedeviling our beloved country. Below is the full article which l originally published 23 years ago (when Olusegun Obasanjo was the president) in my column and multiple traditional and online newspapers. Deregulating national security system The belief in some quarters that the Nigerian Police has been overwhelmed by criminals may at first sound like an exaggeration of the situation but evidence abound that the nation is at the brink of anarchy owing to the spate of civil strife and armed banditry occurring around the country since the advent of democratic system of government some two years ago. The dismal security situation in the country which has now been further exacerbated by the recent assassination of Chief Bola Ige, the nation’s charismatic Attorney General and Justice Minister has further eroded the confidence of the few Nigerians who had been loath to give up on the nation’s security system. Apparently embarrassed by the surge in crime at the nascent stage of this administration, President Olusegun Obasanjo proposed and the National Assembly endorsed a generous increase in the year 2000 budgetary allocation to the police force. This was followed by improved welfare scheme for officers and men as well as a recruitment drive for four hundred thousand more personnel to make up for the inadequacy of human and material resources believed to be plaguing the force Laudable as these policy initiatives are, crime and ethnic clashes in the country have been on the rise rather than decline. In the light of the above it is now apparent that the problem of the Nigerian Police does not entirely rest on lack of personnel and tools to work with. Rather, it is a question of the increasing sophistication of the Nigerian society which is geometrically proportional to the arithmetic progression of the Nigerian Police Force. In fact, pundits argue that if there is any progress at all in the Police, it must be cumulative experience arising from persistent practice rather than adoption of modern methods of crime prevention which is the ideal expectation. The above assertion is underscored by the fact that with the world increasingly becoming a global village via developments in information/communication technology, the interface of people in the so-called first world like Europe and the United States with people in the third world like Nigeria has remarkably increased to the extent that knowledge gap has greatly been reduced. For instance, at the click of a button, an average person in Nigeria has access to the same information as his counterpart in the United Kingdom or the United States via the Internet. As a result of such virtual integration, the sophisticated attitudes and activities of the advanced societies have been rubbing off on our society. This implies that just as positive knowledge such as science and new technology as well as lifestyles are within the reach of every interested Nigerian so also does insidious information relating to criminality beckon to criminally minded ones. Sadly while security systems in the advanced societies have been geared towards managing sophisticated crime in their society, our security system, no thanks to dysfunctional infrastructural facilities like electricity and telecommunications, is in quandary and therefore unable to cope with sophisticated crimes. Take for instance the professionalism applied in the assassination of Chief Bola Ige as evidenced by the fact that he was shot with a bullet that dissolved inside his body and the careful planning that ensured that his security details were effectively out of the way at the time the crime was perpetrated. It is not by chance that the executors of this dastardly act spared no effort in ensuring that they left no trail either through the bullet or eye witnesses such as the security men who could have put up some resistance and therefore attract attention. Indeed, I am convinced that the present difficulties being experienced by the police in apprehending the culprits of this heinous crime, several weeks after, is attributable to the dexterity of the criminals. The prayer now is that Ige’s assassination should not join the list of celebrated and unsolved murder cases by the Nigerian Police which includes the gruesome murder of Newswatch magazine Editor, Dele Giwa, via parcel bomb in 1986 and the assassination of Octogenarian nationalist, Pa Alfred Rewane in cold blood, in 1995. Having catalogued the increasing sophistication of crime in Nigeria and the frustrations of the police that is compelled to use primordial methods and tools to fight it, it is obvious that nothing short of a radical rethinking of the nation’s security system is necessary for the ugly trend to be reversed. One of such radical ideas that lends itself to our present situation is the deregulation of the security system in the country. Although this may sound naive and even simplistic, the truth is that the solution to the burgeoning security situation in Nigeria is the deregulation of the sector. For the avoidance of doubt, deregulation is about private sector involvement in providing efficient and effective services hitherto considered to be social services and therefore exclusively offered by public institutions which are inefficiently managed. Evidence of the dividends of deregulation is the current improvements in telecommunication services in Nigeria which is attributable to the licensing of second generation mobile phones (GSM), the licensing of more independent telephone operators (Multilinks and Intercellular) and the privatisation of Nigerian telecommunications (NITEL). By the same token, the proposed deregulation of electricity generation and distribution formerly monopolised by NEPA via the establishment of independent power plant (IPPs) by private investors promises to have salutary effects on the productivity of the manufacturing sector of the economy as well as further improve electricity supply to the society. In addition, it is an open secret that the current enviable heights which the nation has attained in the fields of banking, aviation and broadcasting are products of deregulation of the sector via the structural adjustment programme (SAP) of the middle 1980s. That these developments have had positive bearings on the efficiency of the economy in particular and society in general is incontrovertible as the benefits of deregulation are all too glaring for anybody to need further convincing. So why shouldn’t the Nigerian security system as typified by the Nigerian Police which has been generally acknowledged as inefficient and ineffective also receive the deregulation therapy? This is the billion naira question that the Nigerian authorities the Presidency and Legislators must answer. To be continued tomorrow.

Northern Politicians Not Ready For State Police – Mahdi Shehu Public Affairs commentator, Mahdi Shehu has said that while many Nigerians agree that creating state police is necessary, he doubts whether Northern politicians are truly prepared to support it beyond public statements. He made the comments in a post shared on X on Friday, where he accused political leaders in the North of failing to invest in key sectors that could have prevented the security crisis currently affecting the region. According to him, “State police are more than desirable given the commitment of stakeholders. But I have my doubts if Northern politicians are ready for the state beyond the oral demand.” He said many of the security challenges that later spread across the country started as local problems but became national disasters because leaders in the region continuously and deliberately refused to make investments into critical sectors. “This is considering how they allowed local security issues blown and snowballed into national catastrophe on account of their continuous and deliberate refusal to make investments into critical sectors.” Shehu criticised what he described as years of misguided spending by Northern politicians on projects that bring little or no development to their communities. He argued that instead of prioritising security, education, and health, politicians focused on elite projects that do not stimulate growth, listing several examples such as: “High administrative costs at government houses, Building and renovating government lodges and guest houses, Constructing classrooms without teachers, Renovating hospitals with no drugs and medical staff, Spending billions on luxury vehicles like Prado SUVs, Buying cars for traditional rulers and renovating palaces and sponsoring pilgrimage trips for myopic and selfish reasons. He warned that such spending habits show that the political class may not be committed to the serious groundwork required to establish effective state police.

State Creation: Ohanaeze Commends South East Governors For Endorsing Anioma As 6th State. ABUJA — The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has praised the South East Governors for endorsing the creation of Anioma State, describing the decision as a step rooted in viability, historical justice, and the pursuit of Igbo unity. In a statement issued by the Forum of Ohanaeze State Presidents, the group said the development marks “a new dawn for Ndigbo,” and commended the South East Governors and National Assembly members for what it called their forthrightness and patriotism. The statement—signed by Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu (Anambra), Chief Benjamin C. Igumbor (Delta), Barr. Justice Ọkoha (Ebonyi), the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Imo, and Livingstone Wechie (Rivers)—called on all Igbo groups and patriots within Nigeria and in the diaspora to support the Anioma State creation effort. “Ohanaeze Ndigbo has expressed total solidarity with the South East Governors for endorsing Anioma as the 6th South East state,” the statement read. The endorsement followed a meeting of South East National Assembly members convened by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, during which the legislators consulted their respective governors. The voting outcome was as follows: Ebonyi: 1st choice – Anioma; 2nd choice – Adada Abia: 1st choice – Anioma; 2nd choice – Adada Enugu: 1st choice – Adada; 2nd choice – Anioma Imo: 1st choice – ANIM; 2nd choice – Anioma Anambra: 1st choice – ANIM; 2nd choice – Adada Anioma ultimately emerged the preferred option, securing two first-choice votes and two second-choice votes. The governors reportedly agreed that Anioma stands out in terms of viability, adding significant landmass, population, human capital, and economic potential to the South East—advantages the other proposals did not provide. They also emphasized Anioma’s long-standing quest for statehood dating back to 1939, as well as the historical importance of addressing the trauma of the October 1967 Asaba massacre and the longstanding identity challenges faced by Anioma people. The statement further highlighted the broader unification implications for the Igbo nation, noting that: The election of Senator John Azuta-Mbata, an Ikwerre man, as Ohanaeze President General has strengthened the recognition of Rivers Igbos within the Igbo fold. The creation of Anioma State would likewise reinforce the integration of Anioma communities and counter prolonged identity suppression affecting groups such as the Igbanke people of Edo State. “This is indeed a new dawn for Ndigbo,” the Forum declared, urging all Igbo organizations and individuals to support the Anioma State project as “a call of duty.”

U.S. Action Exposes Nigerian Government’s Reluctance To Fight Terrorism – Timi Frank …Commends Trump for stepping in where Nigerian leaders failed Nigerian political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Friday, accused the Nigerian government of deliberately shielding financiers of terrorism while the country sinks deeper into violence and mass killings. Frank said recent actions by U.S. President Donald J. Trump and the U.S. Congress have “embarrassed and compelled” the Nigerian government into reluctantly taking steps it should have taken years ago. “I wish to thank President Trump and the good people of the United States who have shown sympathy and support for Nigerians at a time when terrorists and bandits threaten to overrun our nation,” Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, said. “I commend Secretary Marco Rubio for the strong visa restrictions placed on terror sponsors. This action is a welcome development and proof that the U.S. is more committed to ending insecurity in Nigeria than our own leaders.” According to him, the visa restrictions imposed by the U.S. on sponsors of terrorism, announced by Secretary Marco Rubio, mark “the first serious international move that has forced Nigeria’s government to even pretend to act.” “Let it be clearly stated: if President Trump had not stepped in, Nigeria’s leaders would still be looking the other way,” Frank declared. “The U.S. has shown more will, more commitment, and more empathy toward Nigerians than the very government elected to serve and protect them.” Frank said the biggest evidence of the Nigerian government’s unwillingness to confront insecurity is its refusal, across two administrations, to release the full list of terror financiers earlier exposed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). “The government already has the list. The UAE gave it to them during the Buhari administration,” he said. “Yet, till today, the names have not been released because many of those sponsoring terrorism are politically connected. Some are members of the ruling party. That is the truth they do not want Nigerians to know.” He added that corruption and political protection have made it impossible for the government to truly fight insecurity despite having the capacity to do so. “The Nigerian government is not helpless,” he said. “It is simply compromised. And that is why terrorists and bandits have become emboldened enough to threaten the very soul of our country.” Frank emphasised that the U.S. government’s intervention reflects a level of concern that Nigeria’s own leaders have failed to demonstrate. “The U.S. has no obligation to spend its taxpayers’ money to protect Nigerians,” he noted. “Yet President Trump and members of Congress have shown more outrage over the kidnappings, genocide and mass killings in Nigeria than our own government, which continues to act with disturbing indifference.” Frank urged the U.S. government not to share any intelligence with Nigerian authorities until the federal government releases the full, unedited list of terror financiers exactly as submitted by the UAE. “There are terrorist sympathizers within the system,” he warned. “Sharing intelligence with people who may be compromised is dangerous. Until the names are publicly released and prosecuted, no sensitive information should be handed over.” He condemned the Nigerian government for what he described as “reckless insensitivity,” citing reports of new luxury vehicles being purchased for political supporters while citizens are being massacred. “At a time when Nigerians are being slaughtered daily, the government is busy buying jeeps and cars to prepare for the 2027 elections,” Frank said. “This shameful display shows exactly where their priorities lie, and it is not with the people.” Frank who also serves as the Senior Advisor to the Global Friendship City Association (GFCA), USA, thanked the U.S. Congress, particularly Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Riley Moore, for championing the call to rescue Nigeria from escalating violence and instability. “On behalf of millions of Nigerians who have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods, we express profound gratitude to President Trump and the U.S. government,” he said. “Their intervention has exposed what our own leaders have refused to confront and has given Nigerians renewed hope that this nightmare can end.”

Shoot On Sight, Wait For No Order—New Defence Minister Charges Troops. The newly appointed Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has ordered troops to engage armed bandits immediately on sight without waiting for further directives. Musa, during his Senate screening on Wednesday, said this instruction was essential for frontline protection and for restoring confidence in the country’s security efforts. Musa issued the directive while responding to lawmakers’ concerns about command delays during encounters with insurgents. He explained that military personnel automatically assume the mandate to kill armed criminals once deployed to conflict zones. According to him, troops must rely on their training and instincts to protect themselves, their colleagues, and the communities under their watch. He said, “And for the troop, every personnel member that is deployed knows why they’re deployed. You are to engage any criminal or any bandit that is armed and about to kill you. You don’t have to wait. “Somebody’s aiming to shoot at you, you’re waiting for orders, from who? Once you are deployed, you automatically have that responsibility.” Musa added that troops cannot claim they are awaiting authorisation when confronting imminent danger. He continued, “Your colleague is to be shot and you know, there is no other way of stopping it, other than to kill the person. You are to secure the community or property you are protecting, and this they all know. “So if any member of the armed forces deployed anywhere tells you that he’s waiting for an order, he is lying and he’s only a coward. “There is nothing like he’s waiting for any order. The order is automatic. He’s briefed before he’s deployed. And I think that it is very important that we be able to bridge that gap.” Musa also disclosed that the defence ministry plans to withdraw soldiers from routine checkpoints and redeploy them to active conflict zones. He said the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps would take over checkpoint operations, allowing soldiers to confront insurgents in difficult terrain. He stated, “What we want to do is withdraw all personnel and military men from all checkpoints and let the police and civil defence handle those aspects. “These will enable the military men to go into the bushes and take out these criminals, wherever they are as it’s important. “Farmers must be able to go back to their farms… If people can’t eat, you can imagine what will happen.” Musa stressed the need for continuous collaboration between security agencies to secure food-producing communities and restore agricultural activities disrupted by violence. Addressing rising concerns around mass killings across regions, Musa described the situation as one that affects every Nigerian. He said, “People are killed, people are dying. That’s why it’s important, that we must come together and it is when we allow them to have gaps that they penetrate. “They don’t care who they kill. A bunch of evil people that are on drugs… no Nigerians must be killed for whatever reason.” On military recruitment, Musa said the ministry is strengthening background checks to prevent sabotage and ensure that only committed applicants are enlisted. He observed that some applicants avoid postings to conflict areas, while some states contribute fewer recruits to the national pool. He stated, “On the issue of saboteurs normally we recruit from the society. Recruitments are going to be thorough which brings us back to the use of a database. “A lot of people now because there is war, even in the military you find some people not willing to go to where there are conflicts. “Again, we have observed some states, regions that don’t enrol. Currently, we have over 70,000 applying to join, however, we have a way of balancing it so Nigerians can participate.” Musa acknowledged the high expectations attached to his appointment and said he intends to deliver on national security obligations. In his words, “I am also feeling the heat. I know that I cannot afford to fail myself, fail my nation, fail my family.” The minister proposed engaging retired military personnel to support national security structures, noting that their decades of experience should not be wasted. He said, “Some retirees have over 40 years of experience. They are very brilliant and committed, Let us utilize them.” Musa concluded by attributing the persistence of terrorism and banditry to years of neglected security gaps, including weak coordination with communities and government structures. He assured Nigerians and lawmakers that his leadership will prioritise closing these gaps to improve national safety.

State Creation: ADADA’s Defeat of Contenders by Meeting Section 8(1)(a) of the 1999 Constitution, Key to Its Acceptance By Chief Emmanuel Ikechukwu-Jonathan. The proposed ADADA State is currently leading in the ongoing process to identify the area to... The proposed ADADA State is currently leading in the ongoing process to identify the area to be presented to the National Assembly and the President for consideration as the sixth state of the South-East geopolitical zone. This is because it is the only contender that fully meets the provisions of Section 8(1)(a) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). The said section mandates that any state creation request must carry the endorsement of two-thirds of elected representatives from the proposed area across all legislative tiers and local governments. The proposed Adada State which is located in the northern part of Enugu state and has boundaries with Kogi, Benue and Ebonyi States, also ranks highest in several other key variables being considered for the creation of a new state. Information from sources within the National Assembly committee handling the creation of the additional state in the South-East geopolitical zone reveals that #ADADA #STATE is the only area at the moment that has met both the constitutional requirements and other factors of consideration. It is important to note that since the concept of Adada State was conceived and championed by Senator Isaiah Ani between 1979-1983, it has consistently enjoyed the endorsement of two-thirds of elected representatives from the proposed area across all legislative tiers and local governments that make up the proposed state. At the 2014 National Conference, Adada State also ranked first among other contenders from the South-East geopolitical zone and would likely have been created if not for the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election. However, key actors in the committee are attempting to undermine the fact that Adada State is the most constitutionally favoured option, seemingly due to their personal interests. The good news, however, is that their efforts are proving difficult, as the areas they are projecting for creation as the sixth state of the South-East geopolitical zone do not meet the requirements of Section 8(1)(a) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). It is no longer news that the proposed Anim-Oma State, being promoted by Senator Osita Izunaso of Orlu zone in Imo State and Senator Ned Nwoko of Delta North zone in Delta State, has effectively hit a dead end (Rock of Gibraltar). This is because elected representatives of Delta North, across all legislative tiers and local government areas, have vehemently opposed any arrangement that seeks to merge Anioma with any part of the South-East for the purpose of state creation. They described suggestions of merging Anioma with the South-East as “non-negotiable,” and contrary to the historical and cultural identity of the Anioma people. The statement, endorsed by all elected representatives from Delta North, follows renewed national conversations and legislative engagements on the creation of additional states across the country. Meanwhile, the proponents and sponsors of Etiti State are also facing a Herculean task in convincing stakeholders from the areas that are expected to make up the proposed state. Many of these communities are satisfied with their current status within their respective states and fear the possibility of being shortchanged or reduced to a minority position in the new arrangement. It is therefore worrisome that the key actors in the committee responsible for presenting the most constitutionally qualified area in the South-East geopolitical zone for the creation of a sixth state have chosen to align themselves with a setback position, rather than recommend Adada State, which remains the most constitutionally qualified area for state creation. Those close to Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu should advise him to take the path of honour by respecting the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which mandate that any request for state creation must have the endorsement of two-thirds of the elected representatives from the proposed area across all legislative tiers and local governments. It is important to note that presenting #ADADA #STATE as the most constitutionally qualified area for creation as the sixth state of the South-East geopolitical zone remains the easiest and most straightforward route for the committee. Any attempt to promote an alternative option only complicates the process. Undoubtedly, the refusal to acknowledge this fact is a major reason for the delay in the creation of the long-awaited sixth state, despite the readiness of Mr. President and the National Assembly to ensure that the South-East is brought at par with other geopolitical zones.

Breaking: FG Publishes List Of 15 Alleged Terrorist-Financing Suspects In Nigeria. Federal Government has unveiled a fresh list of individuals and companies accused of powering the financial lifelines of terrorist networks — a move officials said marks one of the boldest steps yet in Nigeria’s 2024 counter-terrorism drive. The designations, drawn from a far-reaching inter-agency security review, identified nine individuals and six business entities alleged to have aided the flow of money, logistics and other support materials to extremist groups operating within and outside the country, according to reports from a security analyst, ZagazOla Those named in the latest security brief include Tukur Mamu, Yusuf Ghazali, Muhammad Sani, Abubakar Muhammad, Sallamudeen Hassan, Adamu Ishak, Hassana-Oyiza Isah, Abdulkareem Musa and Umar Abdullahi. In addition, the government flagged several firms — mostly Bureau De Change operators and general trading outfits — for allegedly enabling transactions tied to terrorist activities. The companies listed are West & East Africa General Trading Company Limited, Settings Bureau De Change Ltd, G. Side General Enterprises, Desert Exchange Ventures Ltd, Eagle Square General Trading Company Limited, and Alfa Exchange BDC. Security operatives, who worked on the review, said the action was the result of “months of intelligence tracking,” during which investigators dissected suspicious financial flows and worked closely with international partners. According to one senior official, the move is aimed at “cutting off the oxygen supply” that allows terror networks to thrive. Authorities say the clampdown is part of a broader national strategy to reinforce financial-sector compliance, curb the misuse of BDC operations, and bolster ongoing military missions in the North-East and North-West. The Federal Government has also signalled that the dragnet will widen. Officials confirmed that more names are currently under scrutiny as agencies intensify surveillance of banks, money-changing outlets and cross-border cash movements.

To this end, the Forum agrees that the Federal Government should help deploy Forest Guards across the South West States, with each State Government responsible for providing the required personnel. “The Governors reaffirm their collective commitment to reclaiming the forests, and ensuring that these spaces no longer serve as safe-corridors for banditry, kidnapping, or any form of criminal activities.” The Forum expressed concern over unregulated interstate migration, describing it as a significant security challenge. The communiqué stated, “The Forum calls for stricter border monitoring, data collection and self-identification, and each South West State to work with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for proper identification. We agree to intensify security collaboration to ensure that interstate migration does not become a conduit for insecurity.” Issues on Illegal mining activities were also addressed. The communiqué emphasized, “The Forum expresses deep concern over the escalating illegal mining activities across the South West States, which continue to threaten environmental safety, public health and regional security. We call for comprehensive and enforceable licensing framework, strengthened monitoring mechanisms, and strict enforcement actions against violators who may perpetrate violent crimes under the guise of mining.” The Forum reaffirmed its support for the establishment of State Police, stating clearly in the communiqué, “The Time is Now, and it can no longer be delayed.” Commitment to Peace and Stability Finally, the Forum called on all residents of the South West to remain united, stating, “We remain one, indivisible entity that will continue to enjoy and guard the religious tolerance that we have always been known for.”

UAE Visa Ban 2025 – Suspension of Visit & Work Visas for Nine Countries The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has temporarily suspended visit and work visas for nine countries, raising concerns among travelers and job seekers. This unexpected decision has sparked discussions as the UAE is a popular destination for both employment and tourism. In this article, we will provide the latest updates on the UAE visa ban, the list of affected countries, possible reasons for the suspension, and what this means for applicants in 2025 and beyond. List of Banned Countries for UAE Visa 2025 According to an internal immigration notice, the ban affects both tourist and employment visas. Citizens from the following nine countries are currently unable to apply for new visas: Uganda Sudan Somalia Cameroon Libya Afghanistan Yemen Lebanon Bangladesh While holders of existing visas can still enter and remain in the UAE, new applications from these countries will not be processed until further notice. Reasons Behind the UAE Visa Ban The UAE government has not publicly clarified the reasons for this ban, but there are several likely explanations: Security Concerns: Many of the countries on the list face ongoing political challenges and security issues. The UAE may be tightening entry regulations to enhance national security. Immigration Control: The UAE has previously imposed similar restrictions to address problems like overstaying and irregular documentation. This ban could help manage the flow of migrants and tourists until stricter measures are in place. Diplomatic Factors: Diplomatic relationships and regional conflicts may also play a role in such decisions. The ban could be a temporary measure to monitor travel patterns more closely. Impact on Nepali Applicants Although Nepal is not listed among the banned countries, the term “UAE visa ban for Nepali” has been trending due to the reliance of many Nepali workers on the UAE job market. Currently, Nepali nationals are not affected by the 2025 suspension, but applicants should stay informed as the UAE may change visa rules with little notice. Effects of the UAE Visa Suspension For Applicants Those with valid UAE visas can continue to travel. New visa applications from the nine banned countries are currently not being accepted. Travel agents and recruitment agencies have been instructed to halt applications until the suspension is lifted. For Employers Companies and recruitment agencies in the UAE may face delays in hiring workers from these countries and may need to seek workers from other labor markets. For Families Families wishing to bring relatives from the listed countries to the UAE on visit visas must wait until the ban is lifted. History of UAE Visa Restrictions This is not the first time the UAE has implemented a visa suspension. In previous years, applications from Nigeria were restricted due to overstaying and illegal residency issues. Certain work permits were also paused for countries with high undocumented worker populations. These patterns indicate that the UAE government frequently introduces temporary bans to address specific concerns. Future of the UAE Visa Ban Many people are curious about whether the same restrictions will apply in 2026. While there is no official information yet regarding the extension of this policy, experts suggest that the list of banned countries could change based on: Security situations in the affected countries. Diplomatic relations between the UAE and other nations. Changes in the UAE’s immigration policies. Applicants should continue to monitor announcements from official UAE immigration authorities regarding the visa ban. Recommendations for Affected Applicants If you are from one of the banned countries, consider the following steps: Check official UAE channels, such as the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICP). Avoid fraudulent agents who may claim they can still process visas during the ban. Wait for official notifications about when the suspension will be lifted. Look into alternative destinations for tourism or employment until the UAE resumes visa issuance. Main points The UAE has suspended travel and work visas for nine countries in 2025. The banned countries are Uganda, Sudan, Somalia, Cameroon, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon and Bangladesh. Existing visa holders will not be affected by this restriction. There is no timeline for when the ban will be lifted and the situation could change in 2026 depending on various factors. Conclusion The UAE visa ban affecting nine countries in 2025 underlines the country’s strict immigration policies and the importance of compliance. Although the suspension is temporary, it will impact thousands of applicants from Africa and Asia who were planning to move to or work in the UAE. For now, affected individuals will have to wait for official confirmation on when the ban will be lifted. Staying informed about UAE visa updates will help applicants plan better for 2025 and beyond. |

The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has declared its spiritual independence from the Church of England following the appointment of Bishop Sarah Mullally as the new Archbishop of Canterbury. According to the statement, the appointment of Bishop Mullally who becomes the first woman to occupy the position marks “a troubling moral decline” within the Church of England’s leadership, given her known support for same-sex marriage. “This election is a double jeopardy,” the statement read. “First, it disregards the conviction of the majority of Anglicans who cannot accept female headship in the episcopate; and second, it is even more disturbing that Bishop Sarah Mullally is a strong supporter of same-sex marriage.” The Church recalled Mullally’s 2023 remarks after the Church of England voted to approve blessings for same-sex couples, in which she described the decision as “a moment of hope.” The Nigerian Anglican leadership said such views have further deepened divisions that have plagued the Communion for over two decades. “It remains to be seen how the same person hopes to mend the already torn fabric of the Anglican Communion by advancing a policy that has caused enormous crisis across the Church,” the statement added. Declaring that the global Anglican family could no longer accept the spiritual authority of the Church of England or the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Church of Nigeria reaffirmed its allegiance to the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) and its principles. “As a member of the GAFCON family, the Church of Nigeria affirms its commitment to uphold the authority of the Scriptures, the historic creeds, evangelism, and holy Christian living, irrespective of ongoing revisionist agendas,” the statement said. The Church also called on conservative Anglicans in England and around the world to remain steadfast in defending biblical truth and rejecting teachings that, in its words, “compromise the Christian faith.” “We encourage all faithful brothers and sisters in the Church of England who have consistently rejected the aberration called same-sex marriage and other ungodly teachings to continue contending for the faith once delivered to the saints,” the statement concluded.

2027: APC Chieftain Endorses Dangote–Otti Presidential Ticket. A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Salihu Isa Nataro, has called for a joint presidential ticket between billionaire businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, ahead of the 2027 general elections. Nataro, a former governorship aspirant in Kebbi State, said the pair represents a combination of private-sector expertise and public-sector discipline that could revive Nigeria’s struggling economy. In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, Nataro said Nigeria urgently needs leaders who understand economic management and industrial growth to tackle rising inflation, unemployment, and poverty. “If Dangote can step down as chairman of all his conglomerates, as he recently did in two companies, Nigerians will support him to contest with Otti to industrialise Nigeria within a short period,” he said. The APC stalwart argued that Nigeria’s recovery depends on the inclusion of reform-minded administrators and business experts in leadership. Mallam Nataro noted that Otti’s performance in Abia State shows his commitment to transparent governance and development-driven leadership. He also praised Otti for seeking low-interest credit facilities abroad to support infrastructure and economic projects in the state. Nataro criticised state governments for neglecting vocational training and agriculture-based industries that could empower young people and curb social vices. “Economic initiatives that create employment will help discourage youths from street crimes and drug abuse,” he added. On fiscal policy, he urged authorities to review revenue collection practices, especially in the Federal Capital Territory, where he said excessive charges discourage investment. “Revenue generation should be pursued cautiously and not in ways that discourage business or investment,” Nataro warned. Nataro also advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to review the performance of his appointees and ensure accountability and efficiency in policy execution. However, as at the time of this report, neither Dangote nor Governor Otti has reacted to the endorsement.Nigeria flight deals

Gjrich:According to biblical prophecy, countries that fight against Israel will indeed face God's wrath. Here are some key points to consider: Nations Mentioned in Prophecy: Specific nations mentioned in Ezekiel 38-39, such as Russia (Magog), Iran (Persia), Sudan (Cush), Libya (Put), and Turkey (Meshech and Tubal), are expected to form an alliance against Israel. These nations will face God's judgment for their actions. God's Judgment: The Bible describes God's judgment on nations that attack Israel, including. Destruction: Zechariah 12:9 states that God will destroy all nations that come against Jerusalem. Punishment: Isaiah 14:12-15 and Ezekiel 38-39 describe the punishment that awaits nations that oppose Israel. Divine Intervention: God will actively intervene to destroy the massive invading force with a fierce earthquake, landslides, self-destructive panic, pestilence, excessive rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Historical Precedents: Throughout history, nations that have abused or attacked Israel have faced God's wrath. Examples include Assyria, Babylon, and Egypt, which were punished for their actions against God's people. Future Implications: The ultimate fate of nations that fight against Israel is tied to their treatment of God's chosen people. As Psalm 122:6 says, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee." |

Wike Dragged Before US Govt Over Newly-Acquired Florida Mansions, Faces Visa Ban. Source: https://politicsnigeria.com/breaking-wike-dragged-before-us-govt-over-newly-acquired-florida-mansions-faces-visa-ban/ Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been dragged before the United States government over alleged unlawful acquisition of multimillion-dollar properties in Florida. Activist Omoyele Sowore, in a petition dated September 22, 2025, asked the Florida attorney general, James Uthmeier, to prosecute Mr Wike for alleged money laundering and to initiate forfeiture proceedings against the assets. The petition, signed by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, also urged U.S. authorities to impose sanctions and visa bans on the minister. The petition, citing Peoples Gazette’s September 1 report and supported with three claim deeds as exhibits, alleged that Mr Wike, with the assistance of his wife, Justice Eberechi Nyesom-Wike of Nigeria’s Court of Appeal, secretly purchased three luxury lakeside homes in Winter Springs, Seminole County, between 2021 and 2023. The properties, now valued at over $6 million, were reportedly transferred to their children — Jordan, 25, Joaquin, 23, and Jazmyne, 20. The identified homes are: 113 Springcreek Lane, bought for $535,000 and transferred to Jordan; 209 Hertherwood Court, bought for $459,157 and transferred to Joaquin; and 208 Hertherwood Court, bought for $465,000 and transferred to Jazmyne. According to the petition, all three purchases were made in cash using quitclaim deeds, a transfer mechanism often used within families but vulnerable to exploitation for concealing illicit funds. “These transactions, executed in cash and hidden under the names of his children, form a deliberate scheme to launder the proceeds of corruption into U.S. real estate,” the petition stated. Mr Sowore further alleged that the properties were never declared to Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Bureau, thereby breaching the Fifth Schedule of the 1999 Constitution, which requires public officers to disclose all assets. He also cited several U.S. and Florida laws allegedly violated, including the Florida Money Laundering Act (§896.101, Fla. Stat.), the Contraband Forfeiture Act (§932.701–707, Fla. Stat.), and U.S. federal statutes on money laundering (18 U.S.C. §1956 and §1957). “This brazen conduct, combined with his unexplained foreign acquisitions, suggests that Florida is being used as a safe haven for laundering the proceeds of corruption,” the petition added. Wike is one of President Bola Tinubu’s most cherished ministers and played a key role in securing his victory in the controversial 2023 election in Rivers State.

Boko Haram Overruns Nigerian Army Barracks in Borno, Seizing Weapons as Soldiers Flee. Source: https://share.google/1UpVl1s5NZ9hEIEwl Suspected Boko Haram insurgents stormed a military barracks in the border town of Banki late Thursday, forcing soldiers to abandon their posts and flee across the border into Cameroon while seizing a cache of weapons and ammunition. The attack, which residents described as a coordinated overnight assault, has displaced thousands and reignited fears of a jihad IST resurgence in Borno State, the epicenter of a 15-year insurgency that has claimed over 40,000 lives. Eyewitnesses in Banki, a town long scarred by Boko Haram's brutality—including a decade-old occupation and repeated raids—reported hearing intense gunfire and explosions around 9:30 p.m. local time. "The militants came from the bush in large numbers, overwhelming the soldiers who had no choice but to run," said Aisha Modu, a 42-year-old mother of four who fled with her family toward Cameroon. "They set fire to vehicles and looted the armory. By morning, the town was empty of troops." Security sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the insurgents—believed to be affiliated with Boko Haram or its splinter group, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)—targeted the 152 Task Force Battalion, a key outpost guarding the Nigeria-Cameroon border. The militants reportedly burned several military vehicles and made off with rifles, grenades, and other equipment before withdrawing under the cover of darkness. At least nine soldiers and 31 civilians were killed in the chaos, according to local accounts, though the Nigerian Army has yet to issue an official casualty report. The assault triggered a mass exodus, with an estimated 5,000 residents—many already displaced by prior violence—pouring into neighboring Cameroon for safety. Humanitarian agencies, including the United Nations, warned of an impending crisis, as the influx strains already overburdened refugee camps. "These people have lost everything: homes, livelihoods, and now their sense of security," said a spokesperson for the International Committee of the Red Cross. "Banki has been a flashpoint before, but this feels like a step backward." The Nigerian Army, reached for comment, did not immediately respond to requests from this news desk. However, recent military statements have touted ongoing counterinsurgency operations in Borno, including ambushes that neutralized eight ISWAP fighters just days ago.

The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards cultism and continues to carry out intelligence-led operations across the state. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activities to help security agencies restore safety to their communities. As the clampdown continues, more properties with established links to cult activities are expected to be demolished, reinforcing the government’s declaration that there is no safe haven for cultists in Edo State.

The Edo State Government has demolished four houses linked to suspected cultists and arrested more than twenty individuals in a major security operation across the Etsako West Local Government Area. The action was carried out by the state’s Special Security Squad, known as “Operation Flush Out Cultists and Kidnappers”, under the leadership of the Chief Security Officer to the Government House and the Governor’s Principal Security Officer. One of the properties demolished, located on Egbiadokhai Street behind Otaru Primary School in Auchi, belonged to a wanted cult figure known as Too-Believe. The building had been identified as a regular meeting point for the Confraternity. During the operation, security forces recovered two cut-to-size guns, two black beret caps, and one sharp axe from the premises. Too-Believe remains at large. Another property demolished in the Anoguele Street area of Iyakpi, South-Ibie, was owned by a cultist named Kuwat, a member of the Eiye Confraternity. He is accused of being the main mastermind behind the recent brutal killing of a local barber and also managed to escape before security forces arrived. A third property in the Ogodomiza Area of Ibie-Nafe, belonging to another cult leader, was also levelled. Prior to its demolition, two young men—Momoh Austin, 17, and Joseph Oyazojo, 21—were arrested at the location. They confessed to being brought to the area to engage in cybercrime, commonly referred to as Yahoo Yahoo. Authorities also conducted raids at the Hybrid Hotel and Suites in Elele, Uzairue, where additional suspects were taken into custody. The government’s action follows the expiration of a 166-day grace period offered by Governor Monday Okpebholo for cultists to renounce their affiliations and accept offers of soft loans and skills acquisition training. That window was widely ignored, prompting the current crackdown. John Izegaegbe, Secretary of the State Security Squad, stated during the demolition exercise: “The Governor gave 166 days of grace to all cultists to renounce, offering soft loans and skills training. That window was ignored. Now, desperate times call for desperate action. This demolition is a warning to all landlords and cultists, stay out of cultism or face the full wrath of the law.” He confirmed that the demolished building in Auchi was directly connected to a murder committed earlier in the week. Another security official, Eribo Emwanta, issued a broader warning: “We are advising parents and hotel owners to be vigilant. We are cleaning out these communities, and hotels harbouring criminals are next.” The operation signals the state’s strict enforcement of the Secret Cult and Similar Activities (Prohibition) Law 2025, which prescribes life imprisonment or a minimum of 21 years for cult membership. The law also stipulates that landlords who permit cult activities on their properties face at least ten years in prison, in addition to forfeiture and demolition of the building.

Israel issues evacuation warning for Hodeidah, says will attack Yemen port city in next few hours. “For your safety, we urge all present at Port of Hodeidah and the ships anchored there to evacuate the area immediately," IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee said. The Israeli military has issued an evacuation order for the Hodeidah port in Yemen on Tuesday, while warning that it will be attacking the area in upcoming hours, Reuters reported. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Col. Avichay Adraee urged residents in the port city to evacuate ahead of the attack. “Urgent Warning to Everyone Present at the Port of Hodeidah in Yemen… The Defense Army will attack in the coming hours in the area specified on the map in light of the military activities carried out by the terrorist Houthi regime there,” Adraee said in a post on X. “For your safety, we urge all those present at the Port of Hodeidah and the ships anchored there to evacuate the area immediately,” the IDF spokesman said, adding that anyone who chose to stay back in the area would “put their life in danger”. This comes days after Israel carried out heavy airstrikes in Yemen, killing dozens, in response to the Houthi rebels' drone attack which struck an Israeli airport. The Israeli strikes in Yemen on September 10 killed at least 46 people, wounding more than 160 others, with most of the casualties being in the country's Capital Sanaa, according to the Houthi-run health ministry. In Sanaa, a military headquarters and a fuel station were among the sites hit, the health ministry stated. Al-Masirah, a Houthi-controlled satellite news channel, had also reported that neighbouring houses near the military building were also damaged. This would be the latest in a series of airstrikes carried out by Israel, with the one on August 30 leading to the deaths of the Houthi prime minister and other top officials. This was a major escalation in the nearly 2-year-old conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed militant group, and the first such which targeted senior officials in Yemen.

In just three days, Israel has carried out strikes in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia, Qatar and Yemen. On Tuesday, Israel launched a targeted air strike on a Hamas leadership compound in Qatar’s capital, Doha, during a meeting to discuss a US-proposed ceasefire for Gaza. The strike killed six people, including the son of senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, the director of al-Hayya’s office, three bodyguards and a Qatari security officer. However, its top leaders are reported to have survived the attack. The attack was part of a wider wave of Israeli strikes extending beyond its immediate borders, and marked the sixth country attacked in just 72 hours and the seventh since the start of this year. On Monday, 67 people were killed and hospitals received 320 wounded, including 14 people killed while seeking aid, while six people – among them two children – died from famine-related causes. On Tuesday, another 83 people were killed and 223 were injured. Israel is continuing its assault on Gaza City, targeting high-rise buildings, destroying infrastructure, and forcing residents from their homes, leaving many with nowhere safe to seek shelter. Since its onset in October 2023, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 64,656 people, including at least 404 who have died of starvation. Thousands more have been lost under the rubble and are believed to be dead. Despite a truce, Israel bombs Lebanon On Monday at 1:00pm local time (10:00am GMT), Israeli warplanes carried out strikes in the Bekaa and Hermel districts of eastern Lebanon, killing at least five people. Israel’s military claimed it had struck weapons depots and military facilities used by Hezbollah, though the assertion could not be independently verified. Hezbollah has not yet issued a response. The attacks marked the latest breach of a ceasefire agreement signed last November. Despite the truce, Israel has continued near-daily assaults on Lebanese territory, particularly in the south, and maintains an occupation at five border outposts in violation of the ceasefire’s withdrawal terms. On Tuesday, an Israeli drone strike was reported at the entrance of the village of Barja, about 30km (19 miles) south of Beirut, wounding a Hezbollah member. On late Monday night, Israeli warplanes struck several sites in Syria, hitting a Syrian air force base in Homs and a military barracks near Latakia, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). Residents reported powerful explosions in Homs and ambulances rushing to the scene in Latakia, though there were no immediate reports of casualties. Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the attacks as a “blatant violation” of its sovereignty and a “direct threat” to its national and regional security. State media described the strikes as part of “a series of aggressive escalations” by Israel aimed at undermining Syrian sovereignty. Since the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, Israel has launched hundreds of strikes on military sites and infrastructure across Syria. It has also expanded its presence in the occupied Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarised buffer zone, in violation of a 1974 disengagement agreement with Damascus. The SOHR reports that Israel has already carried out nearly 100 attacks this year, including 86 air raids and 11 ground assaults, destroying approximately 135 sites and killing 61 people. On Monday night, the Global Sumud Flotilla’s (GSF) main ship, the Family Boat, was struck by a suspected Israeli drone while docked at the Tunisian port of Sidi Bou Said, igniting a fire. The 23-metre (76-foot) vessel, sailing under a Portuguese flag and carrying the flotilla’s steering committee, had six people on board. According to the GSF, the blaze damaged the main deck and storage areas but was quickly extinguished by passengers. All crew and activists were reported as safe. The Family Boat is part of a coalition of more than 50 vessels with delegates from at least 44 nations seeking to challenge Israel’s blockade of Gaza. It departed on August 31, 2025, before joining other ships at Sidi Bou Said port. A second attack followed late on Tuesday night, when another flotilla vessel, the Alma, sailing under a UK flag, was also targeted by a suspected Israeli drone in Tunisian waters. The GSF said the strike caused fire damage to the ship’s top deck, though the flames were brought under control and no casualties were reported. Since 2010, several flotillas have attempted to break the blockade of Gaza, with most being intercepted or attacked by Israel in international waters. Israel targets Hamas leaders in Qatar The attack on Qatar, nearly 2,000 km (1,243 miles) from Israel, marks the first time Israel has struck the small Gulf nation, which has hosted multiple rounds of negotiations between Hamas, Israel and the United States. The explosions were heard across Doha with thick smoke rising above the skyline. Israel’s military later confirmed it had struck a compound in the West Bay Lagoon area, a district which is home to foreign embassies, schools, nurseries, supermarkets and residential compounds housing native Qataris and foreign residents. The Hamas leadership has been hosted by Qatar at the request of the United States, which also has a regional command centre, CENTCOM, located just 35km (22 miles) away from the location of the attack.

Our enemies must know, since the creation of Israel, the blood of Jews is not cheap-Netanyahu According to a report by The Times of Israel on September 9, 2025, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a forceful address at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, following a targeted airstrike in Qatar that killed senior Hamas officials. His remarks underscored Israel’s uncompromising stance against terrorism and reaffirmed the state’s readiness to confront threats without hesitation. “One thing our enemies must know, since the creation of Israel, is that Jewish blood is not cheap,” Netanyahu declared, stressing that Israel would not permit attacks on its citizens to go unpunished. His statement came against the backdrop of an operation described by Israeli officials as one of the most significant strikes against Hamas’s external leadership in recent years. The prime minister revealed that the targeted site was not chosen at random but was the very location where Hamas leaders had celebrated the October 7, 2023, assault on Israel, which resulted in mass casualties and international condemnation. “This strike was not just a message it was justice,” Netanyahu said, adding that the airstrike represented Israel’s determination to hold those responsible accountable. He further warned that the so-called “age of immunity” for terrorist leaders who operate from safe havens abroad was over. “The blood of Jews is no longer cheap since Israel’s establishment. We will pursue those who harm us, wherever they may be,” he declared. Netanyahu’s comments also touched on international diplomatic frameworks. He noted Israel’s alignment with principles earlier endorsed by U.S. President Donald Trump, arguing that the ongoing war in Gaza could end immediately if Hamas accepted those conditions. “If Hamas is ready to embrace them, there is a way to peace,” he said. Speaking directly to the people of Gaza in English, Netanyahu urged them not to be deceived by Hamas’s strategies. He accused the militant group of showing complete disregard for civilian lives, pointing out that its leaders shelter underground in fortified tunnels while leaving ordinary Gazans exposed to bombings and shortages above ground. “They use you as human shields while ensuring their own safety,” he remarked, portraying Hamas’s leadership as cynical and self-preserving. Regional analysts suggest Netanyahu’s speech was designed both to project strength to Israel’s adversaries and to reassure a domestic audience still grappling with the trauma of past Hamas attacks. The prime minister has faced mounting pressure from within his coalition to demonstrate decisive military action while simultaneously navigating delicate diplomatic relations with Washington, Doha, and Cairo. International reactions have so far been mixed. While some Western leaders quietly acknowledged Israel’s right to defend itself, human rights groups expressed concern about the risks of escalation, particularly given Qatar’s role as a mediator in hostage and ceasefire negotiations. Critics argue that the strike could complicate efforts to revive talks and deepen humanitarian suffering in Gaza. Nevertheless, Netanyahu’s framing of the operation as a moral and strategic necessity appears to signal Israel’s commitment to a long-term campaign against Hamas leadership abroad. By invoking historical memory and the founding ethos of the Jewish state, he sought to remind both allies and adversaries that Israel views the defense of its people as non-negotiable. “The world must understand,” he concluded, “that Israel is not passive. We will continue to defend ourselves, and those who shed Jewish blood will pay the price.” he said.
