EducationRe: Uniben Sug Exco Passed A Vote Of No Confidence On The President Over #4,000,000 by aieo(m): 4:07pm On Oct 28, 2017
"vote of no confidence"

does this mean that the president have been suspended from office?
i thought only the legislative arm of the SUG can do that, and not the excos.
if the above listed is correct, then he deserves what he's got, how can you do so much against your excos and even students down to the school authority in the the space of 3months of office, not that school have even kicked off the session. this is pure desperation, and i believe he is also been misled.
let's see how it unfolds

Excellent move by NMA, how can Johesu and doctors be earning same salary, they are very stupid.............no matter what, relativity must be maintained. Let me tell johesu members, there is no shortcut in life, u couldn't reach cutoff Mark for medicine, u u couldn't spend six years in school yet u want to enjoy the same benefits as those that did, if u want higher salary or want to be called a consultant, take jamb form and go back to school.......consultant nurse ke, consultant pharmacist ni
oga SHUT UP your dirty mouth.
just the way they choosed to be doctors, others opted for other professions of their choice. must everyone be a doctor. everybody have their various duty, do yours and let me do mine.
whatever JOHESU is demanding is not the business of doctors, after all they went on their own strike action and nobody interfered with them, so they should keep shut!

ultron12345:
The doctor didnt ask for bribe, only the nurse and lab scientist did. Its the same thing those 2 professions do here in nigeria, johesu members are the main cause of the rot in our health sector. Its requesting for bribes like this that slows down treatment which can lead to death of a patient, and when this, they and the general public are quick to put the blame on the innocent doctors. No wonder hospital mortality rates drop when johesu is on strike.
this is a pure hate speech...how do nurses and lab scientists take bribes in our teaching hospitals?
And where did u get the record that mortality drops when Johesu is strike...the few doctors i know won't come online and spew this trash u just wrote. carry this grudges in your mind and i don't see the health sector getting better with you as a doctor

When ARD, MDCAN or NMA are on strike are the consulting rooms open? Who takes over the consulting rooms? Why then will YOU take over premises of those on strike? No matter how you want to garnish it learn to respect others and do that which you again trained to do; not like they will pay you their salary for doing so smh.

It's because of this mentality our health indices are 187/191 very bad indeed. Jack of all trade.....killer of all

Lol.. .i need to first laugh when I see things like this

I'll advice you to read about both courses very well, how they are being paid both home and abroad, seek advice from people who have studied/studying d courses and then follow ur heart.

Both courses are in uniben, I just pray u don't make a mistake and realize later when u ve landed in the wrong course.

BTW Uniben is starting P.ume tomorrow, how come u are making ur choice just now.. ..oh! Connection people, I almost forgot.
post use has been postponed indefinitely.
and for the op, both courses are nice as i am in the medical sciences in uniben too. to the best of my knowledge i know physiotherapy has not gained much ground in the country as it is outside but it's very promising and a lot of people are delving into it, on the other hand dentistry is recognised both home and abroad and i know uniben admits very few of them (i think about 25, maybe more) but the duration and time of the course is long as well as demanding so you have to be well to do. my advice for the money and dentistry. ,

Nursing procedures for critical patients(ICU) are done by doctors.
Leave d patient for a nurse and d patient will croak b4 d next 6hrs.
my guy i have been posted to icu b4 and i know what's up, what are u even saying, who care for those patients when the doctors are away, doctors chose to do those things because they are scared nurses will take the jobs from them, and such things only happens in teaching hospitals, go to private hospitals and see the difference. things like fixing of IV lines are termed doctors procedures, does that mean a nurse can't do it? am still a student and i can fix an IV line let alone a Nurse with years of experience. be it as it may, aside surgeries the doctors work are limited

dokiOloye:
what do nurses do that a doctor can't do?
Serve medications?Make beds?
Just tell them not to lock up instruments and equipments and go away wt d keys so we can see if anybody will notice their absence.
easier said than done. those are just the neat aspect u mentioned, there are a lot you have not said if only you know the duties of a nurse. The hospital will be on a stand still if nurses go on strike..
what do the doctors do aside surgeries ? write medication on a piece of paper and walk away? ward rounds?

sir.... nurses constitute the bulk of JOHESU if that's your claim . it's just that nurses are divided amongst themselves, if not our matters should be number 1 on the table.

NANNM is the problem we have in Nursing as the are always fighting against the rights of graduate nurses. i hope with hope degree holders hold reasonable positions with them.
they brought the idea of HND in nursing, what one can't find in other profession, all because of internship they initially stood against. God help this us

UGONSA:
The University Graduates of Nursing Science Association (UGONSA) has said that the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) seems not to have learnt from its past mistakes.

In a statement, Thursday, by its National President, Chief (Hon.) Solomon E.O. Egwuenu and National Secretary, Nurse Goodluck I. Nshi, the association said that JOHESU had not learnt from its past irresponsible demeanor that provoked UGONSA into calling off the solidarity of its members during its previous industrial actions.

The statement read: “The purported list of JOHESU’s demands that itemized enhanced entry point placements for Medical Laboratory Scientists and Radiographers, to the exclusion of the graduate nurses, that suffer a similar fate, shows that JOHESU is yet to learn from its past mistakes.
“We wonder why JOHESU thinks it will enlist overwhelming solidarity from all segments of nurses when it displays a divisive and parochial tactic of using nurses' numerical strength to selectively pursue a narrow agenda that will only favour other professions at the expense of the nursing profession.

“Everybody in JOHESU knows that graduate nurses are not only battling the issue of enhanced entry point placement on CONHESS 08 for internship and CONHESS 09 post-NYSC, at the moment, but also the impunity of CMDs in violating extant circulars as a good number of them still appoint graduate nurses on CONHESS 07 against the currently prescribed CONHESS 08 post-NYSC.

“We expected that, having shot itself in the foot in the past, JOHESU would have by now amended its ways to be all-inclusive in the handling of affairs of all the professions under its umbrella. But this seems to not be the case.

“It is on record that JOHESU never supported our struggle for internship yet we successfully achieved it on our own. If they have also decided not to identify with us in our current struggle for proper placement there is no cause for alarm because, like the internship, proper placement is not beyond our capacity to achieve. However, they should not dream of nurses’ solidarity and support because we shall mobilize nurses to jettison whatever flowery antics they may use as bait to lure them into strikes that will not benefit their profession. After all reciprocity is the dynamics of diplomacy.

“We want to put it on record that graduate nurses have no problem with the coalition, but have every problem with the irrationality of perennially having their concerns excluded from what JOHESU presents to the government.

“While the weight advantage of nurses is being used to get the attention of the government, one would expect that nurses' demands would always be on the front burner of JOHESU’s demands. But the situation is so precarious that nurses' specific demands, especially those that have direct bearing with graduate nurses, are not accommodated at all; not even at the bottom of its list of demands!

“We believe that we are doubly armoured when we fight together; we believe in teamwork and have strong faith in team spirit and solidarity. But when issues of concern to nurses are treated with levity and disdain, the latitude of elaboration of our solidarity is stifled as solidarity can only be sufficiently elaborated under an atmosphere of equity, justice and inclusiveness.

For the umpteenth time, we call on JOHESU to be reasonable and realize that nurses are inalienable stakeholders in its project. As much as we do not wish that what happened in the past repeats itself, we shall have no other alternative than to withhold our solidarity and fight our battles alone if our specific problems as enumerated are overlooked and trivialized as usual- the statement said.
i think JOHESU is snubbing graduate nurses because nursing on its own is divided.
and i also believe some of our colleagues who are members / executives in JOHESU are not graduates.
and so the fight is streamlined and in favour of graduate nurses alone, and those of RN are left out. i think that is our major setback.
i must commend the efforts of UGONSA as our rights are being fought for. with time we will stand out
