Rotary Club of Ilorin Diamond Hosts Historic ‘Quintuple Landmark Event’, Installs 10th President, Inducts New Members, Honours Humanitarians Rotary Club of Ilorin Diamond, District 9126, made history on Saturday, 27th June 2026, with the successful hosting of THE DIAMONDTARIAN QUINTUPLE LANDMARK EVENT at Sinclair Hotel, Ilorin, Kwara State. The landmark 5-in-1 event commemorated Charter Day, Handover Ceremony, 10th Presidential Installation, Induction of New Members, and a Fundraising Dinner, while also celebrating excellence in service through a Humanitarian Award Ceremony. The night formally ushered in Rtn. Dada Opeyemi Ifeoluwa as the 10th President of the club for the 2026-2027 Rotary year, under the Rotary International theme: “Create Lasting Impact.” Key Highlights of the Night: 1. Charter Day Commemoration: Reflection on the club’s founding ideals and decade-long impact in Ilorin. 2. Handover and Installation: Transition of leadership to the new board led by President Dada Opeyemi Ifeoluwa. 3. Induction: Admission of new members to expand the club’s capacity for service. 4. Humanitarian Award Ceremony: Recognition of distinguished individuals and organizations for outstanding contributions to humanity. 5. Fundraising Dinner: A successful drive to resource the club’s 2026-2027 service projects across Rotary’s 7 Areas of Focus. 6. Special Recognition: The club presented a SPECIAL CITATION to PP Abayomi Magbagbeola, President 2025-2026, in appreciation of his exceptional leadership and the solid foundation laid for the new administration. Speaking during the handover, PP Abayomi Magbagbeola said: "Serving as President 2025-2026 was an honour. We laid blocks, and I am confident that President Dada will build a lasting structure on it. To all Diamondtarians, thank you for your support. Service truly never ends." In his acceptance speech, President Dada Opeyemi Ifeoluwa stated: "We stand on the shoulders of giants. PP Abayomi’s SPECIAL CITATION is well deserved. This year, we will CREATE LASTING IMPACT by turning every handshake into a project and every project into a legacy. I thank our guests, sponsors, awardees, and all Diamondtarians for making this night historic." The Board and Members of Rotary Club of Ilorin Diamond express deep gratitude to all awardees, sponsors, guests, and partners for their presence and support.

UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN PRESS STATEMENT The management of the University of Ilorin is saddened to announce the occurrence of a motor accident on campus this afternoon. The lone accident involved a commercial bus conveying ten passengers going out of the campus. As soon as it occurred, the University Management immediately commenced rescue operations, and all the victims were moved to the University Health Centre. They were attended to by a team of medical personnel at the University Health Centre. One of them needed advanced treatment and was referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) after he was stabilised. Four had minor injuries, they were treated and discharged. Five victims, consisting of two males, two females and the driver, are currently being treated at the University Health Centre. Unfortunately, one of the victims was brought in dead, the body has been transferred to the morgue, and the University management is making efforts to contact the next of kin. The Management regrets this unfortunate incident, condoles with the family of the deceased and prayed God to comfort the family while we pray for a quick recovery of the injured victims. My first long late night travelling experience was a nightmare. Ibadan to ife, the road is so bad I was just running into potholes my car headlight was bad to crown it all it was raining, everywhere was dark including the road,car coming ahead with their lights entering into my eye. Chai. I suffer that day ooo. that was my first time plying that road |
