Education5 Common Mistakes In English by AISOSKID(op):
Everyday in our lifetime we use the common language to communicate to each that is using The English language to communicate most times we make blunder out of it but who cares! When I think it's time to atleast reduce the error we make if not for anything but for examination here we shall be dealing with " UNNECESSARY WORDS "
1. Using a double comparative.
Don't say/write : He is more stronger than George
Say/write : He is stronger than George.
Double comparative are incorrect : " more stronger" ought to be only " stronger".
However , we can say/write " much stronger. "

2. Misuse of adjectives that cannot be compared.
Don't say/write : My work is more perfect than his.
Say/write : My work is superior to his.
Or : My work is better than his.
Certain adjectives cannot be compared : perfect, unique, preferable, Supreme, right e.t.c.

3. " Return back " used instead of "return "
Don't say/write : She has returned back to school.
Say/write : She has returned to school.
The word " back" cannot be used with "return, "
since " return" means to come back.

4. " Have got" used instead of "have."
Don't say/write : He has got blue eyes and red hair.
Say/write : He has blue eyes and red hair.
"Get" means to acquire; "has got" should therefore not be used unless the intended meaning is has acquired : as He has got his reward at last.
Note. In conversation, however, it is more idiomatic to say, "he has got blue eyes and red hair".

5. "Begin from" used instead of "Begin. "
Don't say/write : Examinations begin from Thursday
Say/write : Examinations begin on Thursday.
A thing can BEGIN only at a point be used to apply to the whole time during which a thing is being done.

EducationCultism Civic Education by AISOSKID(op):
INTRODUCTION
Cultism is one of the greatest social crimes in our society today. This crime is mostly committed in the institutions of higher learning such as the universities, polytechnics and colleges of education. It is sad to hear that cultism is gradually entering some of our secondary schools. Cultism is a menace which should be stopped in totality.
There are various secret cults in our various institutions of higher learning and any time there's rival group clash within the institution, many innocent lives and the lives of cult members are lost in the process. Should we then fold our arms and allow this menace to eat deep into the fabric our society?  There is a need for urgent action against the occultism activities in our societies.
This post is set out to look at cultism, different cult group's in the school, origin and reasons for establishing and joining cult group, consequences of cultism and preventive measures against cultism.

MEANING OF CULTISM
Cultism can be defined as an anti-social or deviant group of people who have unusual religious beliefs and whose activities contravenes the norms or social rules of an institution that is meant to provide education for such individual. The membership, admission, policy and initiation formalities as well as their mode of operation are done in secret and kept secret with their activities having negative effects on both members and non-members.
Cultism is one of the social crimes committed in the universities, polytechnics, colleges of Education and has extended to our secondary schools. The activities of secret cults in our institutions of higher learning have maimed many innocent groups anytime there's rival group clashes.
below is an art drawing of a cult group in the middle of a forest during an initiation rites.

Concur'. The song, released about two months ago, is making waves and its video only recently dropped. Timaya, speaking with Naijatory staff, stated that, “There is just only one collabo I have ever done in my life that till today, I appreciate the artiste, I respect the artiste more even after we did the collabo is Don Jazzy. "Like this ‘I Concur’ song I just did, I only called Don Jazzy, I had finished doing the song and I was in my studio, I said ‘if I put Don Jazzy on this song, it will be nice’ I did not even have his number, so I had to call Skales my boy, and he was able to get me a number that led to calling Don Jazzy. He was busy so I sent him a text to call back and he called back. Me and Don Jazzy we dey close o.” Speaking further, Timaya said, “The project took us seven days and on the fourth day we shot the videos. I put out pictures and next thing the song came out but even at the video shoot when we went I just told him that Jazzy na this time be the video shoot o. "I was even thinking that I was going to suffer the stress of the way some artistes dey do, but Don Jazzy we even on set before me because I was worried about the costumes he was going to wear and he was so patient and stayed you know what, my mindset about that dude just changed, I fell in love with that dude sincerely from my heart. He is not my friend,....lots of respect to him,” he added. Source: http://naijatory.wapka.me/forum2_theme_112523625.xhtml?tema=2

CultureIgue Festival by AISOSKID(op):
Igue festival is a celebration with its origin in
the Benin Empire . It was originally celebrated
as a festival to renew Oba Ewuare 's magical
powers. One tradition state that the festival
date coincided with the marriage of Ewuare to
a wife named Ewere. Celebrated between
Christmas and New Year, the festival includes
the Oba's blessing of the land and his people.
During the Igue ritual season, the Oba is
prohibited from being in the presence of any
non-native person. Naijatory wishes you all ISELOGBE

HealthSickle Cell by AISOSKID(op): 11:57am On Nov 21, 2015
S ickle-cell disease ( SCD ), also known as
sickle-cell anaemia ( SCA ) and drepanocytosis,
is a hereditary blood disorder, characterized by
an abnormality in the oxygen-carrying protein
haemoglobin found in red blood cells. This
leads to a propensity for the cells to assume
an abnormal, rigid, sickle -like shape under
certain circumstances. Sickle-cell disease is
associated with a number of acute and chronic
health problems, such as severe infections,
attacks of severe pain ("sickle-cell crisis"wink, and
stroke , and there is an increased risk of death.
Sickle-cell disease occurs when a person
inherits two abnormal copies of the
haemoglobin gene, one from each parent.
Several subtypes exist, depending on the exact
mutation in each haemoglobin gene. A person
with a single abnormal copy does not
experience symptoms and is said to have
sickle-cell trait . Such people are also referred
to as carriers.
The complications of sickle-cell disease can be
prevented to a large extent with vaccination ,
preventive antibiotics , blood transfusion , and
the drug hydroxyurea /hydroxycarbamide. A
small proportion of patients require a
transplant of bone marrow cells.
Almost 300,000 children are born with a form
of sickle-cell disease every year, mostly in
sub-Saharan Africa, but also in other parts of
the world such as the West Indies and in
people of African origin elsewhere in the world.
In 2013 it resulted in 176,000 deaths up from
113,000 deaths in 1990. [1] The condition was
first described in the medical literature by the
American physician James B. Herrick in 1910,
and in the 1940s and 1950s contributions by
Nobel prize-winner Linus Pauling made it the
first disease where the exact genetic and
molecular defect was elucidated.
Signs and symptoms Sickle-cell disease may
lead to various acute
and chronic complications, several of which
have a high mortality rate.[2]
Sickle-cell crisis
The terms "sickle-cell crisis" or "sickling crisis"
may be used to describe several independent
acute conditions occurring in patients with
SCD. SCD results in anemia and crises that
could be of many types including the vaso-
occlusive crisis , aplastic crisis , sequestration
crisis , haemolytic crisis , and others. Most
episodes of sickle-cell crises last between five
and seven days. [3] "Although infection,
dehydration, and acidosis (all of which favor
sickling) can act as triggers, in most
instances, no predisposing cause is
identified." [4]
Vaso-occlusive crisis
The vaso-occlusive crisis is caused by sickle-
shaped red blood cells that obstruct capillaries
and restrict blood flow to an organ resulting in
ischaemia , pain, necrosis , and often organ
damage. The frequency, severity, and duration
of these crises vary considerably. Painful crises
are treated with hydration, analgesics, and
blood transfusion ; pain management requires
opioid istration at regular intervals until
the crisis has settled. For milder crises, a
subgroup of patients manage on NSAIDs (such
as diclofenac or naproxen ). For more severe
crises, most patients require inpatient
management for intravenous opioids; patient-
controlled analgesia devices are commonly
used in this setting. Vaso-occlusive crisis
involving organs such as the penis [5] or lungs
are considered an emergency and treated with
red-blood cell transfusions. Incentive
spirometry , a technique to encourage deep
breathing to minimise the development of
atelectasis, is recommended. [6]
Splenic sequestration crisis
Because of its narrow vessels and function in
clearing defective red blood cells, the spleen is
frequently affected. [7] It is usually infarcted
before the end of childhood in individuals
suffering from sickle-cell anemia. This spleen
damage increases the risk of infection from
encapsulated organisms ; [8][9] preventive
antibiotics and vaccinations are recommended
for those lacking proper spleen function.
Splenic sequestration crises are acute, painful
enlargements of the spleen, caused by
intrasplenic trapping of red cells and resulting
in a precipitous fall in hemoglobin levels with
the potential for hypovolemic shock.
Sequestration crises are considered an
emergency. If not treated, patients may die
within 1–2 hours due to circulatory failure.
Management is supportive, sometimes with
blood transfusion. These crises are transient,
they continue for 3–4 hours and may last for
one day. for more information please visit http://naijatory.ml/forum2_theme_112523622.xhtml?tema=6...
