Many people are under the wrong impression that Christians are people who have grown up in church and "Leave it to Beaver" homes. That is a lie from Satan. Before we became Christians we were educated fools, whoremongers, high school drop-outs, drug dealers, crack heads, theives, liars, atheists, PhDs,blasphemers, lovers of our own selves, adulterers, drunkards, cussers and anything else that is evil. Peter lays it out in I Peter 4:3-4: For the time past of our lifemay suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when WE walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries...I get my fair share of e-mail and it never ceases to amuse me when folks basically accuse me of being self-righteous. I quickly tell them that I know what I am without Jesus Christ a rotten, stinkin' sinner dead in trespasses and sins. I broke practically every commandment. That begs the question: What has changed me and why don't I live like Satan's world anymore? BECAUSE NOW I KNOW JESUS. I'm here to tell you that God is in the clean-up business. He says in
Isaiah 1:18:
"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall beas white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."How does He clean you up? With blood. The blood of Jesus that was shed on Calvary's cross almost 2,000 years ago for your sins."But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

If you are:
*.sick of living for nothing but yourself,
*.sick of the folly of chasing education,
*.sick of feeling empty; and,
*.sick of trying to depend on yourself,then what you need to do is REPENT of your sins. Tell Jesus that you realize that you are a sinner and you're sick of living without Him. Tell Jesus that you want Him to be your Lord/Master and your Saviour from sin. Tell Jesus that you believe that He died on the cross for your sins and that He rose from the dead on the third day. Ask Him to save your soul from hell and give you that peace that surpasses all understanding. If you do this in faith, you will become a child of God. Christ Jesus will take you and love you up and transform you into an entirely new person if you let Him. The Bible says "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold, ALL things are become new." I am a living testimony to this fact and I know lots of other people just like me. Jesus is still savin' today in 1998! His blood will never lose its power.Jesus cleaned me up and He is the sole reason that this page exists. Without Him, I'd still be DEAD in trespasses and sins. But, glory to God, I'm ALIVE in Jesus Christ. I still sin, but NO WHERE NEAR WHAT I USED TO. I try to avoid sin but when I do sin, I ask for forgiveness in accordance with I John 1:9. God told Christians in His word,

"Be ye holy, for I am holy."

We are to take His commandment seriously and live the way Christ would.If you will bow your knee to Jesus, your life will never be the same. When I look at the things of this old wicked world, they turn me off completely. I mean, it is so gross like the vomit and mire mentioned in the Bible. Is my flesh sometimes tempted? Yes, but never to the extent that I want to live like I did without Jesus Christ in my life. No way! Jesus Christ IS my life. Me and Him got a relationship going on. I'm not unique, you can have the same awesome relationship if you want it.If you are not saved, your life is meaningless and you have the wrath of God abiding on you, to boot. This is all so needless. Repent of your sins and believe the gospel: Jesus died for your sins, was buried, and rose again the third day

Many in our secular society believe Halloween is nothing more than a harmless festival that allows kids to collect candy. But is it? Its origins lie deeply rooted in the occult, and Christians should stay away. Here are ten reasons why.

1. October 31st has long been known as "The Festival of the Dead." The Celtic tribes and their priests the Druids celebrated this day as a marker for the change from life to death.

2. Halloween today is performed usually by adherents of witchcraft who use the night for their rituals. Witches celebrate Halloween as the"Feast of Samhain," the first feast of the witchcraft year. Being a festival of the dead, Halloween is a time when witches attempt to communicate with the dead through various forms of divination.

3. Christians should not be involvedwith occultic practice or divination. Note God's command against divination in Deuteronomy 18.

4. Occultists believe Halloween is a time of transition between life and death. Some occult practitioners practiced divination and believed you could learn the secrets of life and wisdom by Iying on a grave andlistening to the messages from the long-departed.

5. Occultists also taught that spirits and ghosts left the grave during thisnight and would seek out warmth intheir previous homes. Villagers, fearful of the possibility of being visited by the ghosts of past occupants, would dress up in costumes to scare the spirits on their way. They would also leave food and other treats at their door to appease the spirits so they wouldnot destroy their homes or crops but instead move on down the road. That is the real reason why kids dress up in costumes today and go door-to-door seeking treats.

6. Occultists also would try to scare away the spirits by carving a scary face into a pumpkin. This horrible visage would hopefully move the spirit on to another home or village and spare that home from destruction. Sometimes the villagers would light a candle and place it within the pumpkin and use it as a lantern (hence the name, Jack-o-Lantern). This is the origin of carving pumpkins at Halloween.

7. In some witchcraft covens, the closing ritual includes eating an apple or engaging in fertility rites. In the Bible (Genesis 3), eating a piece of fruit brought sin and death into the world. In witchcraft, eating an apple is symbolic of bringing life.The practice of bobbing for apples brings together two pagan traditions: divination and the fertility ritual.

8. Schools are removing any religious significance from Christmas (often called winter break) and Easter (spring break). Isn't it ironic that most public schools still celebrate Halloween even though it has occultic origins?

9. Participating in Halloween gives sanction to a holiday that promotes witches, divination, haunted houses, and other occultic practices.

10. Christians should avoid Halloween and develop creative alternatives. Churches can hold a Fall Fun Festival and/or celebrate Reformation Day (also October 31). They should not endorse or promote Halloween

Whenever a member gets a ban on nairaland, it is usually the practice for a reason to be given in his 'profile' page for any such ban, and I am of the view that when the reason given is not clear enough to him/her, the member has every right to seek an explanation in order to understand why the ban was placed in the first place.

Placing a ban of one year is very uncommon in these paths of nairaland and whenever such rare occasion props up, it is usually backed by a very sound reason. The fact that LB had sought an explanation for his ban shows that he is yet to understand the rationale behind it and it will boil down to a miscarriage of justice if his request is snubbed, hence my complaint.

Logicboy03 deserves to know the following:

1) Why he was banned.
2) The justification for his ban.
3) Why the ban had to be for one year.

If the appropriate justification cannot be provided for the above, satisfactorily, then I am left with no option than to ask that my account be banned for one year also, and this I ask with the utmost of respect for you, HBG.
