PoliticsGovernor Makinde's ally, "Alleluyah" resigns from PDP (Photos) by Ajokeolore(op): 9:21pm On Oct 10, 2025
Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and influential political leader in Oyo State, has formally resigned his membership from the party.

Senator Agboola, known as Alleluyah, was a long-standing political ally of Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde. He was a former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and former Chairman of the Oyo State Advisory Council.

In a letter addressed to the PDP State Chairman at the party’s Molete Secretariat, Ibadan, and copied to the National Chairman at the Wadata Plaza, Abuja, Senator Agboola announced that his resignation takes effect from October 10, 2025.

The former lawmaker expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities it afforded him to serve as a member and a leader at the state and national levels. He also acknowledged the achievements recorded during his period of active participation in the PDP.

According to him, his decision to resign was influenced by his “future political pursuit,” which necessitated his absence from the party’s recent local and state congresses.

The letter read in part:

“You will observe that I did not participate in all the congresses recently local and state — due to future political pursuit which is necessary at this material time. Consequently, I hereby resign my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party effective from 10th October 2025, as I wish the party success in its activities.”

Senator Agboola, who has been a key figure in Oyo State politics for decades, did not disclose his next political move. His resignation, however, is expected to stir political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.

InvestmentOyo State Hosts Chinese Delegation For $500 Million Integrated Agricultural Park by Ajokeolore(op): 6:43pm On Aug 28, 2025

The Oyo State Government has hosted a high-powered delegation from China Overseas Engineering Corporation (COVEC) to discuss plans for a landmark $500 million Integrated Agricultural Park investment, marking a significant milestone in the state’s agribusiness development agenda.

Facilitated by the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), the delegation was led by Ms. Dong Guoping, President of COVEC. The visit is part of a broader initiative to attract foreign direct investment into Nigeria’s agriculture sector through strategic international partnerships.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal, emphasized the transformative potential of the collaboration, particularly in achieving food security, boosting exports, and tapping into the state’s natural agricultural advantage.

“This partnership is not just a step forward in agriculture; it is a leap toward economic stability, export readiness, and a more resilient food system,” Lawal said. “It aligns with the vision of Governor Makinde to position Oyo State as a leading agribusiness hub in Nigeria and West Africa.”

Ms. Guoping reaffirmed COVEC’s commitment to developing a modern agricultural ecosystem in Oyo State. She noted that the project will encompass mechanized farming, high-value crop production, livestock, fisheries, and agro-processing – all powered by advanced technology and global best practices.

“Our mission is to introduce globally tested agricultural practices that will transform farming in Oyo State into a commercially viable and sustainable enterprise,” she said.

The delegation was taken on a comprehensive tour of key agricultural and infrastructural assets across the state, including the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) at Ijaiye, the Fasola Agribusiness Transformation Center, Ikere Gorge Dam and IITA. COVEC is particularly interested in the Fasola site and plans to develop a fishery facility at the Ikere dam, with initial plans to acquire hectares of land for the fishing project.

Dr. Debo Akande, Director-General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), described the partnership as a critical step toward realizing the state’s Agribusiness Roadmap. He highlighted the synergy between the state’s infrastructure drive—such as the Ibadan Circular Road, Lagos-Ibadan rail line, and the ongoing upgrade of the Ibadan Airport—and the requirements of the incoming investors.

“This collaboration brings in the kind of capital, knowledge, and innovation we need to scale our existing agribusiness projects and attract further private sector investments,” Akande said. “We're also improving rural access with 1,200 roads under the World Bank’s RAAMP project, including access to key agricultural locations.”

Mr. Abubakar Yerima, Director of Strategy Services at the NIPC and representative of the Commission’s Executive Secretary, stated that the Chinese investors are part of a broader delegation of 25 agribusiness investors, with 16 currently assessing opportunities in Oyo.

“The NIPC has been proactive in reaching out to global investors, and we are pleased to see this interest translating into real opportunities. The COVEC delegation is looking at a minimum of 10,000 hectares for their integrated project,” Yerima said. “Oyo State has been one of the most responsive and organized destinations so far.”

He noted that COVEC’s proposal includes a full agricultural value chain—from production to processing and distribution—designed to drive food security, industrial development, and employment generation.

The Chinese investors are considering various Nigerian states for the location of the agricultural park, but have shown strong interest in Oyo based on land availability, state support, and existing infrastructure. The decision now rests with the state to finalize its preferred model and investment framework”, Yerima said.

Governor Seyi Makinde’s strategic investment in modernizing Oyo State’s agricultural sector is beginning to bear tangible results, with the establishment of a pepper sauce production company at the Fasola Agribusiness Transformation Center.

During a recent visit to Troli International, producer of *Pepperetti Sauce*, it was evident that the governor’s agribusiness policy is fostering food security, driving industrial expansion, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for Oyo State youths.

The presence of the company at the Fasola Hub highlights how the state’s reforms are strengthening economic growth, attracting investors, and positioning Oyo as a hub for agribusiness innovation in Nigeria.

“This initiative is not just about agriculture, it is about securing food supply, creating jobs, and building a stronger economy for Oyo State,” a stakeholder remarked during the inspection tour.

With more companies like Troli International setting up operations, the future of agribusiness in Oyo State looks promising, reinforcing Makinde’s commitment to transforming the sector into a driver of prosperity and development.
CultureBreaking: Alaafin Gives Ooni 48 Hours To Revoke Dotun Sanusi’s Chieftaincy Title by Ajokeolore(op): 5:21pm On Aug 18, 2025
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Engineer Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, has issued a stern warning to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, over the recent conferment of the chieftaincy title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland on Ibadan business mogul, Engineer Dotun Sanusi.

In a statement signed by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the Alaafin described the Ooni’s action as a direct affront to his authority as the Paramount Ruler and Superior Head of Yorubaland, demanding the immediate revocation of the title within 48 hours.

" The attention of the Alaafin of Oyo and the Titan of Yorubaland , Oba Engineer Abimbola Akeem Owoade 1, has been drawn to the purported conferment of chieftaincy title of OKANLOMO of Yorubaland on a business tycoon, Dotun Sanusi, by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The conferment of chieftaincy title which bothers on Yorubaland by the Ooni of Ife is not only an affront to the referred institution of the Alaafin who is the Titan of Yorubaland and on who hold Exclusive right to confer any chieftaincy title which covers the entire Yorubaland on anyone

The Ooni of Ife is behaving as if there is no Authority to check and call him to order and because of that "above the law" syndrome of his, he is in the habit of walking on everybody’s' back including the apex Court in the country, the Supreme Court, which had ruled on the Exclusive preserve of the Alaafin to confer chieftaincy title that covers the entire Yorubaland on anyone.

The instrument of office presented to Oba Ogunwusi, during his installation, specifically limits his Traditional area of authority to Oranmiyan Local Government which has now been split into three Local Governments, viz: Ife Central, Ife North and Ife South.

The dictum that nobody is above the law of the land is now being put to a crucial test and the reality of our time makes it very obligatory for the Alaafin to call the Ooni of Ife to order and demand REVOCATION of the so- called OKANLOMO of Yorubaland chieftaincy title conferred on Engineer Dotun Sanusi WITHIN 48 HOURS or face the consequences

It is a statement of fact that during the Alaafin's unity tour to Yoruba monarchs, he reiterated his message that there could not be development without unity.

Oba Owoade had told the gathering that ""it is the joy of our forefathers for us to be in unity and they did their part in ensuring peace and unity in Yorubaland; we must also strive to achieve this. God Himself is involved in our matter therefore we must always, at all times, be concerned about the peace and unity of Yorubaland. We say we want development, but no meaningful and sustainable development will come without peace and unity"".

But it seems the Ooni of Ife is misconceiving the Alaafin , Paramount with the Heart of Gold, and his peace initiative, as as the symbol of his stimulity, hence taking taking decisions that are not only Ultra vires, but derogatory to the Titan of Yorubaland .

CrimeIbadan Air Force Base: Agboworin Lauds Makinde's Vision, commitment by Ajokeolore(op): 10:08am On May 26, 2025
...thanks CCII, Dotun Sanusi, other groups over commendation

Lawmaker repesenting Ibadan North East/South East in the House of Reprsentatives, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), on Sunday, stated that the vision and commitment of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to a safer Oyo State is taking a good shape.

The lawmaker's comment comes on the heels of the recent commissioning of the NAF School of Business and Accounts in the Air Force Base located in Ajia area of Ibadan.

The lawmaker, in a statement signed by his Media Group in Ibadan, explained that the governor's pivotal role in terms of enabling environment, all-the-time moral and financial support for the NAF cannot be overemphasised.

According to him, the governor's unwavering support and commitment to the project have been instrumental in the success so far recorded in the Base.

Agboworin, who is a two-term lawmaker and Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, highlighted the governor's moral and financial support, which he believes have been very crucial to the progress of the project.

He noted that as the project continues to progress, the base will play an increasingly important role in maintaining peace and stability not only in Oyo State but the entire South West region.

In the same vein, the lawmaker thanked the Central Council for Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), the Chairman of Ilaji hotels and resort, Engr. Dotun Sanusi, and other groups for their commendation on various media platforms.

The statement read, "Personally, I really want to commend my Principal and the governor of our dear state, governor Makinde for his kind and generous support to the Nigerian Air Force Base project in Ibadan. I can boldly say that his vision and commitment to a safer Oyo State is taking a good shape.

"I wish to state that after the commissioning of the NAF School of Finance and Accounts in the Base, a lot of those who admire the project have come out to commend my contribution but, to me, the governor made this wonderful project a reality in our Pacesetter state.

"Talk of commitment, he has shown it in a bid to enhancing the state's security infrastructure, which has been evident in his support for the Air Force Base.

"As we all know, on the day of the project's flag-off, the governor donated a substantial amount of money. And he is still making efforts through regular monitoring to make sure this project is actualized in record time.

"After then, he has continued to do the needful in showing more support, and I am sure he would continue to fulfill his promises towards the Base.

"We should know this project would not have achieved its current level of success without the governor's necessary support.

"We have seen that out of 18 structures that the Base is meant to house, 12 have been completed and commissioned, while the remaining six projects are still at various stages of execution. Can this go without not acknowledging him? No.

"There is no doubt that his support underscores the importance of collaborative governance in driving development initiatives for the benefit of the people of our dear Oyo State. I believe with his continued support, the Base is poised to become a hub for military excellence in the region.

"So, as the state continues to benefit from the numerous initiatives of the governor, residents can look forward to a more secure and prosperous future for Oyo State."

PoliticsOyo Govt To Begin Airlifting Hajj Pilgrims From Ibadan Airport In 2026 – Makinde by Ajokeolore(op): 4:59pm On May 07, 2025
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced that beginning in 2026, Muslim pilgrims from the state will be airlifted directly from the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport, Ibadan, for the annual Hajj exercise.

The governor gave this assurance on Monday while addressing the 2025 Hajj pilgrims at the Oyo State Hajj Camp located at Olodo, in Lagelu Local Government Area.

Makinde, who expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation for the 2025 pilgrimage, said his administration is committed to improving the welfare of pilgrims and easing their travel processes. He emphasized that the initiative to commence airlifting from Ibadan is part of broader efforts to fully utilize the state’s airport infrastructure and reduce the stress associated with travelling to other states for international flights.

“By the grace of God, starting from next year, our Hajj pilgrims will no longer need to travel to Lagos or Abuja for their flights. They will take off right here from the Ibadan airport,” Makinde said, drawing applause from the gathered pilgrims and officials.

The governor also encouraged the intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Oyo State and Nigeria while in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, urging them to pray for the peace and continued development of the state.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing), Sheikh Hashim Atere, commended the state government for its support and proactive measures in facilitating a smooth Hajj operation this year.

The 2025 Hajj pilgrimage is expected to witness hundreds of participants from Oyo State, with officials confirming that all necessary arrangements for their welfare, accommodation, and transportation in Saudi Arabia have been finalized.

The proposed direct airlift from Ibadan in 2026 is expected to significantly boost the capacity and status of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport, and ease the burden on pilgrims from Oyo and neighboring states.

PoliticsRead The Nastic Apology Letter Written By Sen. Natasha To Akpabio by Ajokeolore(op): 9:37am On Apr 28, 2025
SATIRICAL APOLOGY LETTER

From the Desk of Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan

Dear Distinguished Senate President Godswill Akpabio,

It is with the deepest sarcasm and utmost theatrical regret that I tender this apology for the grievous crime of possessing dignity and self-respect in your most exalted presence. I have reflected extensively on my unforgivable failure to recognize that legislative success in certain quarters is apparently not earned through merit, but through the ancient art of compliance — of the very personal kind.

How remiss of me not to understand that my refusal to indulge your… “requests” was not merely a personal choice, but a constitutional violation of the unwritten laws of certain men’s entitlement. Truly, I must apologize for prioritizing competence over capitulation, vision over vanity, and the people’s mandate over private dinners behind closed doors.

I now realize the catastrophic consequences of my actions: legislation delayed, tempers flared, and the tragic bruising of egos so large they require their own postcodes. For this disruption to the natural order of “quid pro quo,” I bow my head in fictional shame.

Please find it in your magnanimous heart — somewhere buried deep beneath layers of entitlement — to forgive this stubborn woman who mistakenly believed that her seat in the Senate was earned through elections, not erections.

I remain,
Yours in eternal resistance,
Senator Natasha H Akpoti Uduaghan

In a show of strong support for GTCO and move to debunk false allegations being levelled against the GTCO and its Executive Management by faceless and unqualified entities using the media, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), issued a Press Release today reassuring the public that their deposits with Nigerian Banks are safe.

The Statement titled, “CBN Reaffirms Commitment to Financial System Stability, Safety of Depositors’ Funds” and signed by Ag. Director, Corporate Communications, Hakama Sidi Ali (Mrs.), begins with a firm assurance: “The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) wishes to reassure the public of its unwavering commitment to ensuring the stability and reliability of the Nigerian financial system.”

The CBN actively ensures that banks adhere to established regulations and best practices to maintain the integrity of our financial system. HealthOyo Govt To Partner US Government To Distribute Over 5 Million Nets Across State by Ajokeolore(op):
In a concerted effort to reduce malaria by at least 90% by 2030, the Oyo State Government has expressed its readiness to partner with the US government through the Global Health Supply Chain to distribute over 5 million insecticide-treated nets to households across the State to prevent malaria.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi made this known in her office while receiving the US GHSC Team. She noted that malaria is a global disease and it is also a life-threatening disease with estimated annual cases between 300-500 million cases. Therefore the support from the US Government to distribute insecticide-treated nets across homes in the State is a welcome development, adding that this will go a long way toward the global target of eradicating malaria by 2030.

The net distribution campaign, which is a project under the Presidential Malaria Initiative (PMI) office, funded by the US Government to manage malaria across the country, is set to distribute the insecticide-treated nets across the State, as a way of contributing their quota to the eradication of malaria disease in Oyo State

Dr. Ajetunmobi reiterated that one of the pillars of Omituntun 2.0 is proper healthcare delivery to all across the State, therefore the present administration is always ready to support Health partners to achieve the desired result in the healthcare system.

She, therefore promised that the Ministry would do all within its capacity as regards the micro-planning involved in the distribution of the insecticide-treated nets, such as the warehousing, funding of the distribution process, the human resources needed for the distribution of the nets, and so on, to ensure that the distribution is smoothly carried out without any glitches and the end would also justify the means.

The Permanent Secretary, SMOH, Dr. Akintunde Ayinde who expressed delight at the gesture by the US GHSC, Presidential Malaria Initiative (PMI), noted that although it is not the first of its kind, however, this is the biggest so far in the series of the net campaign in the State. He therefore assured the team of the Ministry’s maximum cooperation and adequate preparation ahead of the distribution to have better results than the previous ones.

The Acting Director of Malaria Programme for GHSC PMI Pharm. Oludayo Adekunle, expressed their gratitude to the Presidential Malaria Initiative as a project, for the privilege of working with Oyo State through the Net Campaign. He noted that the net distribution is done almost every four years to be sure of its efficacy in each home.

Pharm. Oludayo added that Oyo State has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the US government investment in terms of the malaria eradication program, this is because Oyo State Government has been doing so much to prevent malaria in the State.

He noted that the net distribution campaign will commence in the first quarter of the year 2025, urging for a smooth collaboration with the Ministry as regards the effective distribution of the nets to ensure it get to the appropriate households across the State.

Present at the meeting were the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Dr. Gbolahan Abass; the Director of Secondary Health Care and Training, Dr. Adekunle Aremu; the Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Pharmacist Moses Adewole; the State Malaria Implementation Officer, Mrs. Foluke Adeyemo and others.

NOUN Students Alleged School Management Of Extortion, Seek Tinubu, Minister Of Education's Intervention

Some students of the National Open University of Nigeria have accused the management of the school of extortion after a sudden introduction of N5,000
payment to each student for their TMAs (Tutor Marked Assignments),

The students made a plea to the Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu, and the Nigeria Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman to investigate and punish whatever was involved in the introduction of the illegal levy imposed on the students of NOUN.

The management of the National Open University of Nigeria has earlier announced to the students the submitted Tutor Marked Assignments ( Continuous Assessments Test ) which cover 30% of the 100% overall assessment's score have been canceled due to the school's detection of malpractices on the side of students after the submission of their TMA on the school portal. The school informed the students that, their examinations which are of 70% total grade had put for 100% after the cancellation of the TMA that covered 30% scores.

Thereafter, on Thursday 13th of June, NOUN wrote their students through the school register, Oladipo A. Ajayi, that has rescinded its decision to base the overall assessments on examinations after several pleas by the students.

" After careful consideration and in response to various appeals from students and members of the University community, Management has decided that the affected students will have the opportunity to retake the TMA."

Thereafter, NOUN said the school decision comes with some implications:

To cause a delay in the release of the 2024.1-semester results;

Each student is to pay a surcharge of N5,000.00 irrespective of the number of TMA courses to be retaken as an administrative cost for the courses while the payment of the surcharge is expected to be in effect from Friday, 14th-23rd June 2024.

However, the N5,000.00 surcharge has sparked outrage and frustration among students, who feel unfairly targeted and extorted, they described the development as a scam.

The student said things started falling apart when the school informed them that the already submitted TMA had been canceled and made the situation look like a written script by the management when they asked each student to pay a sum of N5,000.00 to redo the TMA online.

Some of the students who spoke to Westerndaynews through Whatsapp chats expressed their strong opposition to the earlier decision of the school management to cancel their already completed TMAs (Tutor Marked Assignments) and present demand of
N5,000.00 from student to retake their assessments.

One of the students who chatted with our reporter with a request that her name shouldn't be in print said, " For years, students have completed their TMAs online, which accounted for 30 marks, and then wrote exams either through pen-on-paper or CBT. However, without any evidence or justification, the university has accused students of not completing their TMAs themselves and initially threatened to base their exams on 100% marks but later resolved to cancel our already completed TMAs (Tutor Marked Assignments) and demand that we redo the assignments and pay a compulsory fee of 5,000 naira. This is a time we need the government to fight for us, our schools are not doing well for us.

While investigating further, our reporter chatted with one of the 300 level of the institution, studying Political Science, he said " We believe that the decision made by the school management is unfair and unjustified, it is purely a form of extortion and violation of our rights as students, a breach of trust and confidence in the university.

According to Wahabi Adekunle Fasasi, also a student at the Faculty of Social Science, he said, all that the NOUN management is trying to do is to take in money from students, and with N5,000.00 each from students, they will have close to a billion naira to share.

" So far, everybody knows that the N5,000.00 demanded is illegal and not online with the regulations and practices of the school, we urge the university management to, cancel the compulsory 5,000 naira fee and reuse our already completed TMAs as well as provide clear guidelines and evidence-based procedures for TMA completion.

We refuse to be extorted and demand fair treatment. We request a prompt reversal of this decision and a constructive dialogue to resolve this matter amicably. Moreover, we want Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and our minister,
Tahir Mamman's intervention on the issue, the mastermind of the imposition among the staff of the school shouldn't go unpunished." Fasasi stated.

OYSIEC: Ad-hoc Staff Lament Continuous Delay In Payment Of Allowance, Seek Gov. Makinde's Intervention

- some of us receive N5,000 bribe - Ad-hoc Staff

Barely three weeks after Local Government election was held in the 33 Local Government areas of the state, the ad-hoc staff recruited for the smooth conduct of the election on Tuesday lamented continuous delay in payment of their allowance by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).

OYSIEC conducted the local government elections across the state on April 27, 2024.

Before the poll, the Commission had recruited over 1 thousand ad-hoc staff, in the following categories: Assistant Presiding Officers (APO), Presiding Officers (PO) and Supervisors (SU).

Others are Ward Collation Officers (WCO), LGA Returning Officers (RO), Assistant Electoral Officers (AEO) and Electoral Officers (EO).

According to a report, the commission recruited the ad-hoc staff to assist its workforce in conducting free and fair elections, but unable to set out a certain amount to be paid as allowance to the recruited ad-hoc staff.

One of the recruited ad-hoc staff who pleaded anonymous said after the one-day exercise, OYSIEC is yet to reward them.

The ad-hoc staff who served as a presiding officer in one of the polling units in Ward 11, Orisunmibare Adabi, Egbeda Local Government area of the state, expressed her grievances over the development.

She told Westerndailes on Monday evening that, every ad-hoc Staff employed for the election has not been paid till date.

According to her, allowances for both the training and the election proper has not been paid 18 days after the conduct of the elections.

"We went for training and we were engaged for the local government election on Saturday, April 27. The commission promised us that the money would be paid into our various bank account two days after election which was Monday April 29th, but we are yet to see alert as promised.

"We heard that, the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde had provided enough funds to cover the allowance of all ad-hoc staff engaged for the April 27 Local Government election but some people that be in the commission are still holding on to our money.

"To us, with the fund provided by the governor, there is no reason the commission should be owing the hired ad-hoc staff as of today.” he said.

Another Ad-hoc in Ido Local Government who craves anonymity said, he attended the election training as well as the election proper but yet to get paid.

The staff further said he slept over inside the council secretariat in Ido as recommended by his electoral officer so as to meet up for the collection of electoral materials on Saturday morning but his efforts were not rewarded.

" We were all legitimately engaged by OYSIEC. We performed all our duties satisfactorily but we were not paid. The Electoral officer promised us that we would be paid the following Monday, which is the 29th of April but they failed to fulfil their promise. Even if they are not willing to pay for the training, I think, the election payment shouldn't be delayed.

Another Ad-hoc Staff who doesn't want her name to be in print told our correspondent that one of the people who commented on a WhatsApp platform created for ad-hoc staff in Ibadan North Local Government was filled with complaints over delay in payment of allowance by OYSIEC.

She said many are afraid to come out and complain about the development, thinking that the allowance would not be paid due to the insincerity of the officers engaged to lead various wards.

According to the lady who also served as Presiding Officer at one of the polling units; "after the election of the day, a few of them were given N5,000 ( thousand naira ) for transport while many who also worked with them were not given. She said it was during their discussion on the Whatsapp group the following day that many got to know that they were entitled to a token for the job.

"Some Ad-hoc Staff were given N5,000 on Saturday evening after we finished the collation of results and submitted the election materials to them, but many were not given. In fact, some of us received a call the following day and were asked to send account details. According to reports, their local government heads credited them with just N2,500. Why the money was given was not stated, but it was rumored that one political party gave them as gratification.

In a swift reaction, the Public Relations Officer in OYSIEC, Mr. Adegoke Damola told Westerndailes on the telephone that the commission is in the process of crediting all the hired staff.

"OYSIEC is going to pay officially hired staff. I guess they misunderstood their local government electoral officers. They were told they would submit their bank details to the commission at the state office for process on Monday not that they would start getting credit alerts from that Monday.

" The payment is a process, and we have begun the process. Soon all submitted bank accounts will be credited," Damola said.
