I am oyeleke adewale joshua, i am a qaulity control officer and a medium scale poultry and cash crop farmer.

I had over 10 acres of cassava cultivated land. In iya ibaji village oyo state.

On the 1st of august 2024 i went for early morning prayer and returned back to my farm around 11:am in the morning to weed and irrigate my cassava plantation, on getting to my farm, i met hundreds of cows and herders on my farm, the cows were freely grazing on my crops while the herders were also uprooting some for storage. I was caught unaware and was helpless seeing my life investment beeing destroyed right in my front. I confronted the herders to move the cows in order to salvage what is left of my crop but instead they removed my cloths, tied me up, beat me and humiliated me in all manners before chasing me out of the farm.

The following week after treating myself and gaining little strenghth, i made findings and discoverd that the herd of cow belonged to the head of herders in the community and i summoned the courage to walk up to him to demand compensation for my loss, it was right in the palace that his son,( bello) slapped me and told me to do my worst as they can do anything that pleases them. I couldnt bear the insult so i returned the slap and it resulted into physical scuffle. I was once again overwhelmed by the mobs at the residence of the head of herders and was again beaten and almost killed. I took a step and reported the case at the nearest police station hoping to get justice but after few weeks nothing was done.

When i thought the siege was over on the 4th of october 2024 i went for vigil and when i came back the following morning i met the most horrible sight of my life, my house has been burnt down, not only my house but my wife was also burnt down with the house by these same herders just because i had the effontry of reporting them to the authority. My daughter's body was nowhere to be found inthe rubbles and till now i dont know her whereabout. I stayed in a friend place nearby that night but thwy got hold of the information and nearly killed me that night, i had to escaped and i sustaind a fatal injury that night.
