For this Cacawa that wanted to challenge the Akinphysicist because of his tribal biasness, so all attempt have been made to downgrade his intellegibility but all in vain, that is how he change another account called Inschool with a view to challenge Akin smaltaneously. naturalwaves: The ideal thing is to first of all use the wuru wuru method now before setting out to solve so that one will have an idea of what the answer should look like. It is a smart way of reasoning. However, you are failing to get my points. Sometimes, the answer set may span a larger loop and because of that we need to set out standard ways of resolving such questions for the sake of other people watching( same thing cacawa was trying to communicate to you). You be chairman now. Who would doubt your ability of being able to solve such question. Nothing do you boss. We are all here to share ideas and learn from each other. Lets agree to agree where we can. And agree to disagree on the rest. |

Since Akinphysicist has decided to dance in circles and not provide a suitable solution to the question nor provide an alternative method that is more acceptable, let me solve it through a way that is devoid of wuruwuru and trial by error like he did for the benefits of secondary school students and others viewing the thread. See solution attached below. cc:cacawa Clap 4 yourself. Using my 'wuru wuru' method: No pen and paper needed. And it took me less than a minute. Try it. Its good for your brain. naturalwaves: Why would you make an assumption when there is a legitimate way to go about it without assumption? Because its a fun out of the box kind of way of doing itnaturalwaves: What you did is not different from a child Good. Children can teach you are lot about imagination and creativity. Be a child once in a while and you will see things differently.naturalwaves: being asked to solve for X in 2+X=6 and then you start testing 1,2,3 etc to see which one will give 6. So? - as long as the child knows the answer has to be positive definite so he starts from zero instead of negative infinity. This child has learn far more mathematics than the people subtracting 2 from both sides to see what happens. Whatever its worth the child probably knows the subtraction method too. naturalwaves: That is trial method and it is demeaning for someone of your calibre. It would be trial and error if I didn't know where to start and were to stop. See my post above about the creative child who knows where to start counting from. That is the key. There are quite a few advanced mathematics techniques that employ spanning a limited space to find element or elements that fulfill a particular restraint. This is what I did here. If you are wise you will learn. naturalwaves: Provide a suitable solution that is devoid of trial and error. If you truly believe I cannot solve this problem in the normal (school textbook way) then why are you engaging me in this conversation? |

naturalwaves: You are so funny bro. How will you start up a mathematical solution with " If an integer solution exists". That's not right at all. Okay, what if an integer solution does not exist? What universally accepted principle are you going to use for it? Show it! You can't be substituting unknowns with integers based on logic except incase of objectives or something that requires a fast answer and thaat is not the case here. Uggh! Not again. These people and their wahala Assumptions are part of mathematics. Look it up. If an integer solution exists you will find it. If you don't find it then you will KNOW that an integer solution does not exist. This itself is KNOWLEDGE you did not have prior to the count test. In the absence of an integer solution, then a more general approach can then be used to solve the problem. |

naturalwaves: Your solution lacks a mathematical pathway. When you solve things here, you should consider other viewers as well. A good example was the one you solved for the first puzzle, that was better. At least, people can follow up that solution unlike the second one you posted. If you don't understand then ask questions. Here is my response to someone who was wise enough to seek clarification: Kelvinreality - after giving Cacawe all night to answer the question above, I have concluded he is incapable of basic logic. Here is the explanation:
x^1/2 + (x+15)^1/2 = 15. If an integer solution exist, then you can obtain it by counting. Here is how it works.
Let a = x^1/2 and b= (x+15)^1/2 so the eq. becomes a + b =15. So choose a pair of integer a and b whose sum gives you 15. However, NOT all pairs qualify because a^2 has to be equal to b^2 - 15 (since both have to be equal to x). So all you have to do is count from 0 to 15 to see which pair qualifies. Clearly any pair with a from 0 to 5 fails because in this case a^2 is clearly less than b^2 -15. You don't even need to do any calculation - all you need to know is if b^2 -15 is greater (or smaller) than or equal to a^2. If its equal then you have your solution. No calculator required. Nothing. Just basic logic of counting.

naturalwaves: You are being unnecessarily childish and sentimental on this thread. The Akin guy should have known that such solving methods is archaic and unacceptable in maths. How can he use trial and error method to solve that question? What if the solution is something like 120 or more? Will he keep on counting till he gets there? He knows exactly what CACAWA wants but decides to be clever by half and you are just buttlicking him and trolling cacawa unnecessarily. Archaic and unacceptable? This is not a thread about mathematical etiquette. The OP wanted creative/original solution to a problem. And I supplied it. What Okocha did to Khan (the German goalkeeper) was considered disrespectful but football like math does not give a damn who feels disrespected. The question you should ask yourself is simple:- did I provide a solution for the problem? If then answers is yes, then don't waste your time pontificating. |

CACAWA: if the answer was meant to be a decimal, the counting method would fail. So? If it fails then you employ another method. Ki ni big deal?CACAWA: That is exactly why the ITERATION method was introduced as. Avalid mathematical method for "Counting". The only difference is that it counts by itself until it gets to the actual answer and it stops. Then use iteration if basic/logical counting fails. Again ki ni big deal?CACAWA: The iteration method is not just any "creative" solution either, it was developed using the Fibonacci sequence. Keep your 'lecture' to yourself, I am fully aware of the connection between iteration and FibonacciCACAWA: Go on your calculator and type : Using a calculator to solve this particular problem is like using a machete(cutlass) to kill a housefly. Its shows rigidity. A lack of clear thought.CACAWA: 0+1= Ans
Now, type :
(15*Ans) - √(Ans(Ans+15)) =
Now keep pressing the "=" key until the answer stops changing.
It will stay as 49. Once again iteration is an overkill for this problem. You needed a calculator - I didn't CACAWA: That is iteration. Again that doesn't tell you if there are other solutions. Tell me something I don't know. CACAWA: So to find all other solutions, you need to find out the first derivative, equate to zero, fond its roots, and the iteration process in another direction Way from the first. You can't do basic/logical counting and you think you can give me homework...I laugh in Chinese

Okay. CACAWA before I go let me educate you. This is how you solve that problem without taking SQUARES: You count. Reduce the problem to a + b = 15. Then count. 1 + 14 is disqualified do you know why? 2 +13 also disqualified do you know why? 3 + 12 also disqualified do you know why? 4 + 11 also disqualified do you know why? 5 + 10 also disqualified do you know why? go down the list and you will see only 8 and 7 qualifies therefore x = a^2 = 7^2 = 49 OR use b to get the same result. Cacawa you are a formally trained mathematician but you are not creative. Find out why this method works and get back at me later. I have things to do. BY THE WAY IT TOOK ME LESS THAN A MINUTE USING THE COUNTING METHOD. TRY IT. kelvinreality: Please why do other figures disqualified and only 8 and 7 was accepted? Kelvinreality - after giving Cacawe all night to answer the question above, I have concluded he is incapable of basic logic. Here is the explanation:
x^1/2 + (x+15)^1/2 = 15. If an integer solution exist, then you can obtain it by counting. Here is how it works.
