Ask yourself why they are going ahead everytime... And those teams chasing them, they prefer to be chasing because of their excellent mentality?

Sincere answer
Nigeria creates chances especially set pieces and we have osimehn who is a specialist in scoring such even though he would miss 4 to score 2

But they need to realize that defence is everyone matter and they have to be rugged about it especially when leading...hold possession in the dying minutes,do not play long balls in the dying minutes, hold your opponent to their half in the dying minutes that's how to prevent a team from attempting a successful comeback against you

Nigeria has gone ahead in a lot of matches but you also have to remember they went ahead against civ in the finals and we all know how that ended

They might find themselves in such a situation later today but let's see how they cope

Cameroon took their chances and SA did not...the better team won tonight but the quarterfinals is looking really scary now

Morocco, Senegal, mali and Cameroon are through....I expect civ, drc, Egypt and Nigeria to join them too

Mali has played the worst Haram football I have seen in a long time (two out of their three goals have been penalty ) similar to SE last Afcon outing where they win or draw 1-0 or 1-1 but I have to give it to their defense,it's been solid and they could definitely drag ot out with Senegal to penalties and then it's anyone game

Morocco has shown that theres level to this shit because I remember being scared of them in 2024 or so when they were scoring a minimum of 4 goals per match but it was against continental minnows....they struggled against mali to get a draw and mali imo is the weakest side among the quarterfinals entries so far so Cameroon would likepy win that match with a 1 nil gd

Nigeria path to finals is tough but they can do this with the right mentality and if they take their chances, Osimhen especially! Lookman and chukwueze would also have to keep their form so far.

Good luck to SE tomorrow and good night to everyone

why should Nigeria come from 2 goals down. Why should we allow our opponents score 2 goals before we start fighting back when we can score first 😳😳
Why are you all talking like it's not football we are talking about...no team wants to go two nil down but in knockout football you're bound to find yourself in such situations and your ability to respond in 90 minutes determines if you get to go further or go home

Civ didn't want to go 2 nil down against Gabon
Ft Gabon 2- civ 3

Senegal didn't want to go 1 nil down against Sudan but they did

Ft Sudan 1 - Senegal 3

Cameroon against Mozambique as well

That's what I want to see happen with super eagles cause it shows they have the mentality of champions even the Barcelona someone mentioned overcame a 5 nil aggregate to win 6 -5.

That's how you spot a champion!

What will happen if Nigeria score DRC or Algeria 2 goals first, can they fight back?
Tunisia almost did recently.... Tanzania too then there's civ in the final of the last Afcon or SA,Jamaica,Trinidad and Tobago,Gabon, Zimbabwe etc

Algeria and Drc definitely have the attacking capabilities, mentality and strength to fight back from 2 goals down especially against Nigeria defense

They showed it against South Africa, Gabon & Tanzania
Yes they can
Nigeria 2 - 1 Mozambique
They didn't...we scored first in all those matches irc so no

For you to find a match where Nigeria came from a goal or two down and won the game eventually..you'd have to go back nearly 6 or 7 years in time

Afcon bullies don dey enter quarterfinals ooo😅😅…allowing teams like Cameroon,Egypt,CIV to near quarterfinals wahala don dey oo…i trust my super eagles sha…we have to show no mercy to Mozambique tomorrow sha…play them like tiffs oo
Should Nigeria make it out against Mozambique....then quarterfinals is their likely bus stop....they can't match Algeria or drc in 90minutes and concede goals unlike the last Afcon

What Nigeria lacks is a comeback spirit....where you're two goals down against an under dog similar to Gabon v civ or France v Argentina but you believe that till the last minute, the game ain't over....that's the spirit that wins you tournaments

The super eagles have so far scored first in all of their Afcon fixtures in 2025....what would happen when drc or Algeria scores two first??

Can they comeback?

Philosopher1979:
If peseiro had not left after the nations cup we would have qualified. His leaving at the wrong time created crisis and we could not get a replacement on time. Finidi was too inexperienced and could not command the respect of the players. Also the decline of omeruo and eking and I think injury to ajayi. We refused to call new players to beef up our defence. Al. That. Chelle is now creating some stability. That's all.
This is why I'm a fan of the 4 year Afcon because I believe it will give stability to a lot of African teams since the FA seems to sack coaches after every Afcon then having a 4 year gap would give the coach enough time to build the team to his best and justify any sacking after spending 4 years building the team

Chelle should be given such a timeline as well as the NFF should sit up and I believe Nigeria football would be rejuvenated to the peak it was in the 90s
