IMSUTH STOOD STILL AS THE CREAM DE LA CREAM GRACED THE FIRST IMSUMSA CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME TERMED INGENIOUS ELITES

All roads led to the multipurpose hall Imsuth on Friday 20th October 2017 . This was billed to be the crescendo and grand finale of the much talked about programme .


A program that was meant to celebrate boundless talents in medicine and transmit new skill outside the box of the medical world , in a fast evolving planet . The program lived up to its billing as the Medical students were totally nourished in the balanced diet of Education, Entertainment and Enlightenment all contained in one perfect meal, *THE INGENIOUS ELITES*

The event kicked off on the arrival the first guest of the day, DR. MRS Angela Uwakwem (s.a to the governor on health) who gave a speech on the topic " *BEING A SUCCESS AND FULFILLED DOCTOR AS WELL AS A FATHER* " . she took her time to give what looked like a homily as she preached the gospel of being a good doctor and it was received with a rousing applause. She was on hand to receive an award of honor conferred on her.

Sequel to to the first speech, the Citation of Dr N. C Merenu (cmd Capital hospital )was read and he also had good words to say as well as hipping encomium on a fellow guest DR. iweala Osuala who was the First NMA chairman Imo chapter and a man who was instrumental in the formation of IMSU medical School .

Dr. Iweala Osuala took his audience on a long drive, sharing nostalgic tales of his romance with imsuth and the Medical school, affirming his undeniable role he played to make sure the medical school came to light and on the same vain bemoaning the deplorable state of things now. BOTH DR. IWEALA AND MERENU RECEIVED AWARDS OF HONOR.

There were side attractions as two teams battled in the quiz competition and a subsequent BPS debate titled imsumsa rumble 1.0 comprising four teams who interestingly were named after four past presidents of Imsumsa.

The debate had a controversial topic ,as controversial as equality between medical doctors and other health practitioners. Midway on the debate, guest bared their minds on what they thought about the debate topic Especially DR. Agu T. C.
THE CMAC of IMSUTH was represented by His secretary ,amongs other dignitaries


It was now time for the skill acquisition segment as The guest Ms ijeoma educated the students on how to make cake, including the icing ,on the other hand MRS OBIOMA taught how to make insecticide, perfume and detergent. This was going on simultaneously with the second half of the quiz.

Their was enough to eat and drink as the event produced a total package.

Prize winners were latter announced for both quiz and debate as both victors and vanquished all had prices to smile home with.


The BURNFIRE NIGHT event also took place latter in the night as all and sundry partied in what was the conclusion of an event that celebrated THE INGENIOUS ELITES ,I. E THE IMSUMSITES

IMSU medical students at Imo State University Teaching hospital (IMSUTH) Orlu took to the streets to protest what they term neglect of duty by the School management on their re-accreditation exercise which has been postponed indefinitely .

It is worth knowing that an average Student in IMSU medical school spend nothing less than 10 years before graduation.

Last year December , The Faculty of medicine failed in its re-accreditation bid and was given 6 months upfront by Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) to put its house in order and prepare adequately for the re-accreditation exercise . MDCN Cited Understaffing and lack of permanent Staffs at the pathology and pharmacology classes as part of the reasons Imsu Medical faculty were denied accreditation. Ten months gone and Nothing has been done to solve the problem .

The Medical Students leaders on their path have had several meetings with top Government functionaries and have met the Imo State governor at some occasion but still no hope, just failed promises.

The free education Governor Rochas Okorocha has not done enough to save the only medical school in his state.

The students are aggrieved that the School management have folded their arms and just watch as things continue to go wrong and students accumulate lost times . They have failed to pressure the Governor or any authority that can facilitate preparedness for an accreditation.

The students were seen dressed in ward coat ,carrying placards and singing protest songs. They Bemoaned the fact that the 10 years they stayed was being threatened to extend to 11 or even 12 years in what is supposed to be a six yeard program.

The Students during the protest Sang against The provost of the medical college Prof. B. U EZEM demonstrating Utter displeasure at his nonchalant attitude in fighting for the re- accreditation of the medical school. The provost and dean were no where to be found during the protest as they had pre-information of the planed protest .

The Chief Medical director of IMSUTH DR.Fredric Anolue was on hand to address the aggrieved medical Student .He stated That the hospital was ready for the re-accreditation exercise but will pressure the university management to do their own part ,affirming that the Hospital and The college are two different entities.
Furthermore he expressed shock at complaint that their are four classes in a single level ,and the fact that some classes have one lecture in a week and some have non at all. Their were further complaint to him that a class that wrote their 2nd mbbs exam in 2014 are yet to write any other exam 3 years down the line. The CMD stated that their will be an advertorial for prospective employment to meet the MDCN demand in less than 48hours and urged the students to go on with the protest peacefully to press home their demand.

The protest is set to continue as announced by the Imsu Medical Student president Comr. Nkwogu Chukwuebuka. During a closing speech said that he had ignored pressure from the school management to halt the peaceful protest and its first phase will last for a week.

Remember that in 2015 ,Imsu medical Students protested at and around Imo state government house in the state capital owerri
to let Gov. Rochas Okorocha to know the true condition at The medical school and they were tear gased and assaulted by men of the Nigerian police force .

Army Invasion: Nnamdi Kanu Petitions UN, Seeks International Protection Status

Following the invasion of Nnamdi Kanu's residence and the attempt made on his life by the Nigerian Army, a team of IPOB international lawyers based in US and Nigeria has petitioned the
Office of the United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights, Palais des Nations CH-1211, Geneva 10, Switzerland, over the violation of Nnamdi Kanu's rights to freedom of speech, association and religion.

The petition seeks the intervention of the UN human rights arm in the ongoing show of force, house arrest stage-managed by the Nigerian government through its military on the IPOB leader as well as the shooting of the visitors that come to pay him(IPOB leader) a visit.

Recall that the Nigerian government sent its army to the residence of Nnamdi Kanu both to disperse his visitors and to keep him under house arrest.

They started the exercise on the 10th of September 2017, when they shot many people, both passersby and some IPOB members who visited their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, at his home residence, Afara-Ukwu Ibeku, Umuahia.

The show of force, aggression and barbarism worsened on the 12th of September, 2017, when some groups of soldiers who have been deployed to carry out Operation Python Dance in the southeast, laid siege at different locations and attacked IPOB members who were journeying to see their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leaving many dead and others badly injured.

To stop such crime against Biafrans, the team of the US-based lawyers: Bruce E. Fein, W. Bruce DelValle, alongside their Nigerian-based Attorney, Aloy Ejimakor, approached the UN human rights on behalf of the IPOB leader, IPOB members and pro-Biafra agitators.

Re: Nnamdi Kanu-lmpending Genocide of Nigeria's Igbo People

Dear Mr Commissioner:

On behalf of the 50 million Igbo people of Nigeria, organized under the umbrella of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), led by Nnamdi Kanu, the Nelson Mandela of Nigeria, this office together with Nigerian Barrister Aloy Ejimakor (IPOB general counsel) calls your attention to the Nigerian government's authorized shootings and killings of Mr. Kanu's guests at his home by elements of Nigerian Army late Sunday, September 10, 2017.

We are convinced the Nigerian government intended to assassinate Mr Kanu because of his Igbo ancestry, Judaic religion, and political views. It's nefarious designs were thwarted by the unanticipated presence of numerous visitors to Mr Kanu at the time of his scheduled extrajudicial murder by the Nigerian Army under colour of Nigerian law.
According to 10 credible Nigerian newspaper reports, many of the visitors were seriously wounded in the Army attack. Fatalities have been reported. Due to the developing nature of this incident, definitive information is unavailable at this time. But enough is known to justify an international response to prevent convulsion in Nigeria that would threaten international peace and security.

Mr Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB have been peacefully protesting the systematic persecution of
Igbos - who overwhelming Christians and Jewish -- by Muslim and Hausa-Fulani president Muhamadu Buhari and his murderous administration. (Twelve northern Nigeria States have adopted sharia as their legal code). They have been brutally attacked with lethal force by Nigerian Security to punish the exercise of their fundamental rights to freedom of speech, religion, and association. Credible sources, including Amnesty International, have confirmed that more than 100 unarmed Igbo/IPOB members have been murdered in separate incidents implicating the Nigeria Army.
