N500K in biz terms is a relatively small amount. Having said that, there are many market men and women who have funded entire family endeavours with smaller amounts.
I make the "market" analogy because with your capital of N500K you should be realistically be looking at small scale ventures. You should be aiming at a biz you can start up with N200K,N300K or N350K Max. Why? Simple = Running Costs & Overheads.Trust me on this one. "Start up" and "Running costs" are two very different animals!! You will often find your running costs will exceed initial outlay. What you don't want is to run out of cash just as you start!!

You say you have access to land.Whilst i don't necessarily advocate it,you may (if possible) use it to secure sizeable venture capital.This is of course a very high risk strategy.
You may also use the land in another way as you automatically have a free storage point for goods,why don't you look at contracting in any type of distributorship where storage might be useful. Good luck.

I really appreciate ur sincere advice. The land does not have certificate yet , so using it to secure additional fund is out of it. I just feel the land, borehole water, the three ponds and the N500K should be able to start something.

I need serious advice. I have access to almost half plot of land belonging to my mum in Ikotun,lagos with a borehole and 3 fish ponds(block) though needs to be renovated. I equally have about N500K CASH.

What i need is if i should employ somebody with experience on catfish farming. I would like to go into fingerlings hatching and also the grow-out . There is free accomodation for the person employed. OR i should use the N500K to venture into another business since i observe catfish is no more lucrative. But, i am still employed in a medium-sized company.

Is it that bill for a single term that is so important to the president at this moment of ours. When the country is facing a lot of social problems so numerous to list here. Just how many months after his ascension to the presidency, this is the most important bill to president Jonathan. My God! He can't send a bill that the the teeming unemployed graduates be given a monthly allowance till they get a good job, a bill that NNPC provide PHCN with gas to power light, a bill that the excess crude oil revenue be used to revamp PHCN, and other good things that will create multiplier effect.
