so I got this true life story from a friend of mine, a Lecturer in one of the polytechnics in the southwest. Truth be told, I actually Agree with his point of view in this matter. But I still feel the need to share and hear the opinion of nairalanders.
He is a married man. A young man of less than 37. There was this student (His student) he was toasting. (This is totally wrong. But I wont judge him for this, that babe must be hot and body no be firewood. lolz) The lady repeatedly said "No", for the plain fact that he was married. My guy of course kept trying his luck because the thing enter his eye.
Part of the duties assigned to him in the department is to handle all matters relating to student results and result complaints. This lady in question happen to have so many problems with her results, missing scripts and so on, all of which were in no way the fault of my guy (he said the problems were all there even before he was assigned the duty and many of the problem results were even borrowed courses. My guy, in trying to win her heart (or her pant maybe) painstakingly, even in her absence during her 12 month IT, took the trouble to locate all her results, begged, cajoled and followed up on all course lecturers to forward her result so she could graduate from the OND program. he finally succeeded her result was complete. Yet the babe still turned down his advances, all he got was a "thank you sir".
The girl came back for HND and started lectures while awaiting her CGPA to be computed by Exams department and her results approved (I guess hers was coming late for approval because of the backlog of result problems that had to be resolved).
My guy taught her class a course in the first semester HND1, still toasting the babe and hoping that she will say yes, since he was teaching her and therefore had some control. That one still no work.
They wrote their first semester exam and my guy resisted the temptation to use her exams as an excuse to lay her. According to him, he told her (in his own words) "I will never use my power as a lecturer unjustly over any girl just because of sex. it is against my work ethics. I rather u date me just for money than because u want to pass. As long as it is my course, no matter how much u turn down my advances, u will get the marks u deserve, no more no less".

So exams over and school resumed. Fast forward to some weeks, the babe's CGPA was computed in the Exams department (of registry) and it turned out the girl had less than the minimum (2.5) required to return for the HND program after 12 month IT. She was to compulsorily undertake 24month IT. She was heartbroken. All her friends were in HND and she is already slaying with them as a happening babe. It will be thing of shame for her to drop out due to Low CGPA. She ran to my Guy, begging him to use his influence to get her an upgrade (up to 2.5 cgpa) I guess she assumed that since my guy could resolve her very complex result issues, he could do this too.

Well, my guy said No. It will be Illegal for him to attempt to upgrade a result that has been reconciled. But he could beg one or two lecturers who owe him favours to withdraw her scores and upgrade them to enable her attain 2.5cgpa. That should make the upgrade authentic and (technically) legal.

But he insisted that he will only undertake the process on the condition that the girl sleeps with him.

Now At this point in the story I had to laugh. I asked him why the change of principle and he said this "I am not changing principle. I will still not use my power as a lecturer over the girl. But what happened to her result was no fault of mine. it was of her own doing because she was busy slaying while others were studying. Now what she wants me to do is illegal and wrong. if I am to do something wrong for her sake, then she also should be willing to do something wrong for me"


so that is the story. If u want my opinion, I think I agree with my friend abeg.
As a girl, if u dont want a lecturer's advances, then stay away, do not seek favours from them. Just study and pass. If u always need special undeserved favours from him, u shud also be willing to pay his price.
