A lot of people get the terms mixed up because of the manner they are portrayed. Someone threatening to hit u has committed assault. When that someone actually touches u, the offense is battery. So this is assault & battery on a pregnant woman, amongst an attempted murder charge, and generally behaving like beasts in uniform.
