We have oil wells (offshore) in our international waters. These are oil wells that are not on any land (onshore). By the provision of the onshore/offshore dichotomy act, states with access to the international sea (littoral states) can claim 13% derivation from oil wells that falls within 200 nautical miles of their shoreline.

Based on the above, Cross River was considered a littoral state and earned 13% derivation revenue because of their access to the sea through Bakassi Peninsula. In 2005 however, Nigeria lost Bakassi at the World court in Hague and the peninsula was ceded to Cameroon. Based on this decision, Akwa Ibom went to court and argued that since Cross River lost access to sea through Bakassi, the oil wells revenue should now go to Akwa Ibom instead of Cross River. The Supreme Court in 2013 gave judgement in favour of Akwa Ibom state and all the oil revenue that used to go to Cross River was awarded to Akwa Ibom.

Basically, Cross River has not received 13% oil derivation revenue since then. However, they recently went to National boundaries commission and RMAFC to present new scientific data showing some oil well still falls within the boundaries of cross river and that it is wrong not to classify the state as a littoral state. So, this write up is urging the government to rectify the injustice done to the state and reclassify it as a littoral state based on new scientific data.

So how did akwa ibom even enter d matter since bakassi was taken from cross river n not from Akwa ibom??

I don't really have a playbook for this, but you have to understand how a platform like patreon works first.

It's a platform usually for creatives and creators where fans and audience members can willingly donate money monthly to subscribe to your page, in exchange for exclusive content or to fund your projects to keep you going and creating more "content" it could be videos, art, music, story writing etc.

In my case, I guess I'd call myself an Artist and I draw stuff, some people seem to enjoy it.
I have no education in the arts, I'm just some guy that grew up watching anime (naruto and the likes), and taught myself to draw it.

So here are the steps.
1. Have a personal creative interest.
2. Create a social media account for it, and post stuff to gain an audience.
3. Create a patreon account and post exclusive stuff on there.
4. Advertise your exclusive works to your audience and hope they subscribe. If you're good enough they will.

I understand these are vague and doesn't really help someone get started, but they really are the steps.

In my case, a couple of years ago, after I graduated uni, ASUU went on strike and I hadn't collected my statement of result yet, I couldn't do NYSC immediately, so I had a period of free time, where I taught myself to do digital art, to draw on my phone using an app called Ibispaint X.

I kept drawing even during my NYSC service and after. In the process of learning, I experimented with a lot of things, styles and niches, I posted on my Twitter account, Reddit account and Pixiv account.

In the process of experimenting, I decided to challenge myself to draw a comic with a short story and few pages to force myself to learn to draw different poses, angles, and some environments.
That was the thing that popped off, and I got a massive influx of followers and I got my first art commission because of it, and people started willingly subscribing to my patreon account just so they could see more.
It seems for some reason I tapped into something a number of people really liked there, so I kept doing it.

So that's my story, I can't really make a tutorial or course on how to, as I think, I was just more or less lucky here. Also choosing to draw mostly attractive women helped.

I'm surprised this thread is still moving. Also I'm a bit better now and less depressed. But I still feel doom and gloom once in a while. I have started attending a Nigerian church again but the thing just looks so ceremonial to me. Dancing and Thanksgiving and collecting tithes and offerings is all the Nigerian church seem to be interested in. I still think I need to take time off work but with the few leave days I get here I don't know how that will be possible. Anyway keep me in your prayers, I guess. Direct withdrawals from your Patreon account to your Nigerian Naira bank account, or to a USD account are now available.

I've been running and growing an Art Patreon account for the past 2 years, and one of the most frustrating things about it are the payout methods available to you as a Nigerian.
You were only given options to withdraw through PayPal or Payoneer.
Paypal is not exactly functional for Nigerians, as they do not officially allow Nigerians to receive payments using their platform. You could attempt to acquire a foreign Paypal account, but they are relatively expensive and you run the risk of having that account flagged, and you lose any money you had in said account.
So you are basically stuck with Payoneer, while payoneer works for Nigerians, I will say they are very predatory and unfriendly to small earners, for the following reasons:
•Every withdrawal from Patreon to your payoneer account costs 1USD
•Payoneer has an annual 30USD service fee, for earning less than 2KUSD in that year. (Feels like punishment for small earners)
•They have a minimum withdrawal amount of 50USD to a Nigerian account, and a minimum 25USD to a US account. (This means your money is stuck if it's below these thresholds)
•Another 3% charged for all withdrawals from payoneer wallet to a bank account.
•They also carry a risk of account flagging (I have not experienced this, but plenty of Nigerian users have reported their accounts being restricted for no reason and having to deal with their slow customer care).

The new direct bank withdrawals for non-US creators is unfortunately still being processed by Payoneer, however the pros outweigh the cons here.
You do not need a payoneer account, minimum payout amount is also lower with this method from previously 25USD to now 10USD, and lastly withdrawal fees are now significantly lower.
Fees for withdrawing to a Naira account are 0.25USD + 1.55% of payout amount. However you will be subject to payoneer's exchange rate which varies, and from recent experience it is roughly 60naira below official rates.

And Fees for withdrawals to a Geegpay US account for example is a flat 0.50USD, excluding the platform's own deposit fee.

Patreon has been my main source of income for a bit of time now, and this was something that has been bugging me, and now it has been better resolved, so I'm sharing the news.
