@ all, yesterday, I finally collected my vehicle after a difficult release process which I do not want to comment on. I want to thank all Nairalanders and others for your support. Without you, this would not have been successful.
I also want to thank the VIO officers and workers at the Cele office for helping to take care of the car while in their custody. God bless you all.

@ all, I thank you all especially those who contacted me via phone and preferred to remain anonymous but worked tirelessly behind the scene to make the solution possible. I equally thank the vio officers at the Alausa office for their understanding.

I also want to thank the guy at computer village. After accepting to buy my phone for 6k - which was actually a steal, but after explaining the circumstances, he converted it to a loan, that if within next week, if - can bring the money, I can have my phone back.

There are still plenty good people in Nigeria. God bless Nigeria.

As one poster stated, PLEASE nobody should abuse this process that fellow nairalanders have used to help me so that it can remain helpful to others. Who knows whom it may happen to tomorrow.

One positive thing I am taking away from all this whole experience is this: I am more than ever determined to help a fellow Nairalander and a fellow human who is in need.

@ all, I have just left Alausa and the officer that fellow Nairalander referred me to have reduced the demurrage from 113k to 15k after personally explaining my plight to him. I have 10k with me and off now to computer village to sell my phone to complete the balance.
I thank Nairaland family and all, who have contributed to help me solve this problem and the moderators for helping make it Frontpage, without which I would not have the necessary exposure. Those VIO boys on the road might be devil,but meet the senior officers in the office and you will be seeing a different class of people, very courteous, polite and kind. Trust me, I will come here at Nairaland to wash the car when it gets released.

if you are talking about the @kayralph vio officer, he told me that he need to talk to the commander to confirm the 50k deal but then I have not heard from him even after sending him recharge card. Bros please help me if you can. I am om my way to Alausa right now based on the efforts of fellow nairalanders. I will update you when I am back

@ others, In my original post, I stated that selliing the car is a LAST option because for now the car provides me with a means of livelhood.
I use it for daily runs etc. On my post in november 2012 I advertised on Nairaland about that vehicle

However. I will rather sell it than to lose it completely.

Siena: Lots of views, very few constructive suggestions, it's all well and good to say God will see this guy through, but why not back up prayer with action? We should be our brother's keeper here. Next time, we could be the ones in trouble, regardless of where we reside.

And those asking why he was driving with a fake driver's license. The question is irrelevant, right now, a brother needs our help. This is Nigeria, so such questions shouldn't arise.

OP, how much exactly is needed to get your car out of the pound?

I will never intentionally drive with a fake License. I got the License from FRSC Abeokuta and have been driving with it since 2011.but that is no longer the issue anymore as I have sorted out the new drivers licence and paid all the relevant fines. My only problem its with the demurrage charge. Going to the court is not an option because I do not have the wherewithal.

@kayralph, you are hinting that this may be a scam. I am so surprised because you were among the first to offer to help me and we haVe spoken on the phone severally. I would have preferred to speak with you one on one, but since you have brought it to this thread. I have to state my own version. Your VIO officer promised to help me. He said that he will talk to the area commander or.someone like that and when everrything is set, I should come to Ojodu berger to collect a letter to assist me. Later he told me that I should send him recharge card so that he can call the commander, which I did. The last time I called the so callef VIO officer was on sunday and. he told me that whenever he gets to the commander, he will call me and that I should go and arrange 50k wHenever he call, that I should come to Ojodu Berger with the money. That.was the last time I heard from him.
so who is scamming who here?

Selling that car is a last resort as I stated in my original post because it is a breadwinner. Ydu can check my previous post last year to confirm

@kayralph, thanks for your effort. I have spoken with the man and he promised to link me up to some senior officer who can intervene on on behalf, but for days now, I have not heard from him. I remain optimistic though.

@ mods despite my appeals and pm I sent to many of you, you still can't send this to FP. I know how many TEHN appeals I have responded to anonymously but when it got to me, just to put my post on FP becomes an issue. I thought that Nairaland was more of an online family but now I know better.

@ everyone, please I still need your help. People, including my kids are now going hungry because of this. Please help.

Please fellow Nairalanders help me. Every suggestion or idea to help solve this problem is welcome. I am counting on you my brothers and sisters, please.

Sometime ago the VIO in Lagos impounded my car as they claimed my Drivers License was fake. They also slammed me a fine of 20k.
As I went to pay the 20k fine and take my car, I was told that I have to go get the new Drivers License. As I was processing the license, I fell ill and was bedridden for some months, but I am ok now.

I have gone back to the VIO, fulfilled all the conditions - pay fine, tax, etc and was given a vehicle release clearance.
Now my problem is with the demurage. They charged 113k which they later reduced to 80k, but I had only 10k on me. I believe that if I beg them with 40 or 50k they may agree. As I have exhausted available source of raising the money, I am asking for help in the following ways:

- anyone who can help me with some contact at VIO. I have been pursuing this alone without knowing anyone. I know this is Nigeria and whom you know might make a huge difference.

- anyone who can loan me the money with interest to release the vehicle even if the person have to keep the vehicle till I repay. It will be easier to pay the interest than to be paying demurrage of 1k everyday.

- anyone who can buy the vehicle outright - though this will be as a last resort.

Please help me on any of the above or on any other way that you can. The vehicle is a 2002 Landrover Discovery. Please call, sms or email for more details on:
