Google Forms and Sheets can be a good starting point for a small business because they keep order information organized without requiring expensive software. One thing I'd add is to make the form as short as possible. If customers have to fill in too many fields before placing an order, some may abandon it. It also helps to structure the Sheet so you can easily track order status, payment, delivery, and repeat customers. As the business grows, you can then move to a more specialized system if the spreadsheet starts becoming difficult to manage. |
I agree that taking action is important, but I think the quality of the action matters too. Sometimes people stay busy without actually moving closer to their goal. For a business idea, one useful approach is to choose one measurable step each week, such as talking to potential customers, testing an offer, making the first sale, or improving one part of the product. That gives you real feedback instead of just consuming more information. Small actions are much easier to sustain when you can measure the result and use what you learn to decide the next step. |
I think saving up first is a sensible option, but I wouldn't wait until December before testing whether the idea actually has demand. You can validate the business with a simple landing page, social media page, or even a basic prototype before paying for a full website. That way, you can see whether people are actually interested and what they are willing to pay for. If the response is good, you'll have much more confidence when putting your savings into the full platform. And if you eventually bring in a partner, having some proof of demand also makes it easier to structure the partnership properly instead of giving away 50% based only on an idea. |
The approval time can vary quite a bit depending on the lender, the applicant's income and documentation, and whether the property documents and valuation are in order. I would expect the process to take longer if there are issues with title verification or other property documentation. Before applying, it would be worth asking the lender for their current document checklist and an estimated timeline for each stage, from application and property valuation through final approval and disbursement. The older information in this thread may no longer reflect current mortgage requirements or processing times. |
