Akerewe: If it's truly 72ft by 42ft, to do this the drawing is required, but at all at all u can't use 1000 blocks.
BUY the blocks urself this time around. First buy and make sure the 700pcs of blocks u will buy ur self is delivered to the site.
Then monitor the usage. After consuming the 700 blocks, then u can easily count the remaining blocks and buy.
Never allow them to buy materials for you 🙏pls Thanks, sir. I really appreciate it. |

Please share your thoughts on this: My contractor estimates that an additional 1,500 blocks will be needed after the lintel. He plans to lay two courses on the lintel. Do you think the number of blocks is accurate? |

CivilEngineer90: yes! I really appreciate your response. Thanks so much, sir. How many blocks do you think can finish a standard 4 bedroom bungalow together with the ones after the lintel level? |

immortalcrown: I am not an architect. But I think the dining position is wrong. The dining shouldn't be located closest to the living room entrance door. Do visitors have to eat before they are welcomed? Is it not after welcoming them that you decide to offer them food and they will decide whether to eat or not?
I understand that changing the dining position will warrant changing the kitchen position. The lobby, the toilet and the laundry can collectively switch positions with the kitchen and the store.
Or, the bedroom towards the back on the same wing can come forward and the kitchen will go back. The distance between the current position of that bedroom and the parlour is not too far for someone who wants to take food from the kitchen to the parlour. This option will also help to curtail the rate at which food aroma from the kitchen disturbs or distracts visitors in the parlour.
Like I said earlier, I'm not an architect. But this is my opinion. Nevertheless, you've delivered a masterpiece insights that worth note taking. I appreciate you, sir 🙏 |

I need some helpful remarks on the following:
1.How much is the Ideal price should a builder charge for a 4bedrom bungalow to lintel level?
2.What's the cost of iron rod and plank needed for the lintel? Location is Abeokuta. A price range will be helpful to haggle with those vendors. 3. For a standard 4bedroom bungalow, what is the range of total blocks that would be needed? 4. What's the ideal price the welder can charge as workmanship?
All these information, if given, will assist me to negotiate better with the builder.
I would be looking forward to receiving your professional quotes.
Thank you. |

Charisdesigns: Two things that influences door dimensions are 1)Building code standard 2) Aesthetics
The standard dimension for doorway for residencial building is Entrance/exterior = 1.2m x 2.1m Interior = 0.9m x 2.1m
Anything more is for aesthetics purposes, and yes doors with wider width and height are more aesthetically pleasing than the standard dimension.
You can decide to do a 1.2m x 2.4m or 1.5 x 2.7m. Primarily, the width should not be less than 1.2m because of moving in and out of home furnitures and other appliances.
Pics 1 is a design we did with standard door size 1.2m x 2.1m Pics 2 is has a dimension of 1.5m x 3m. Thanks, I really appreciate it. 🙏 |

I salute all the experts in the house.
Please, what is the standard size of doors now in vogue?
The reason for my question is that, I see some houses with big entrance doors? Is that the new design? What's the size of this door? Also, is it the same for bedroom or those ones have their own sizes.
I would like to know the height and length of these doors for reference purposes.
Thanks. |

Rany4all: I would have preferred the master bedroom to be at a corner of the building so it can be better ventilated by having windows on adjacent walls instead of just one wall. I'd ask the architect to edit the room at top left hand corner into the master bedroom.
The lobby is an enclosed space without a window so it will be very dark round the clock and without any ventilation. Your architect should do something to remedy that. Removing that dining/lobby wall like someone suggested earlier is an option, but that will effectively add to the living room and dining space, hence requiring more air conditioning power to cool that entire space. I'd prefer to just add a fixed non-transparent window to that wall to let in some daylight from the dining into the lobby
The laundry should have an external window for lighting and ventilation. I'd also add an internal sliding window on the wall demarcating the laundry from the lobby to ventilate the lobby and also add some daylight from the laundry into the lobby. Wow! Impressive! Thanks for these valuable suggestions, sir. We shall consider them thoroughly. |

Charisdesigns: Both designs are really cool Pretty much the zoning of the design are same.
However I will choose B
1) It has the propensity to throw in more light to the lobby. (if the marked wall can be brought down), another advantage to bring the wall down is that it makes the dinning space looks and feels bigger.
2) the lobby at 1500mm offers a bigger space than in A, hence two people can pass easily
3)interior wise, furniture placement for B ante room will be more functional than A
4)The wardrobe placement for B are intentional for all the spaces, unlike A where any available space is assigned wardrobe space.
5) Exterior wise, B will be more visually and aesthetically pleasing than A, because of the interesting roof design it will produce (which is a function of all those, recess and wall shot outs).
Disadvantage B will be more expensive to construct than A.
Kudos to your architect he did a good job. This is amazing ! You really analyzed everything with great knowledge. I appreciate it, sir. I'm taking notes of these modifications and suggestions for final drawing. Thanks once again, sir. |

Rany4all: It's B for me. I like the fact that the anteroom also opens into the lobby, so one must not go through the living room to access the bed rooms. Also prefer to access the guest room through the lobby rather than directly from the ante room.
Also prefer the laundry to have it's own exit door so laundry does not have to go through kitchen or ante room.
I also prefer the living room and dining ventilation in B.
I would still make some modifications though. Well analyzed. What modification would you like to make? I'd love to hear about it for correction, sir? |
