Business / The Way Forward For Nigeria by allweda(m): 9:23pm On Sep 14, 2019
Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa with about 200 million
persons. Nigeria has 371 tribes according to vanguard May 10, 2017 at
10:45 pm News.
Among the 371 tribes are Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo which are the most
populated tribes in Nigeria which we refer to as “WAZOBIA” “come” in
Yoruba: Wa; Hausa: Zo; Igbo: Bia.
Nigeria has over 500 languages been spoken across its territory of which
“English” a foreign language is our official language follow by the three
Nigerian indigenous languages Hausa, Yourba and Igbo that are Nigeria
Unity languages (NUL).
According to Wikipedia, “language is a system that consist of development,
acquisition, maintenance and use of complex systems of communication”
If it is a task for Nigeria to be one, then anything that will promote the
spirit of oneness should be a task done for the interest of Nigeria. The
British came to Africa and colonized us by imposing their language on us,
the English language promotes understanding and relationship between
them and we even till date. Nigeria has an easy flow with the English than
the Spanish because of the power of language.
Language is very powerful tool to achieve an aim, God used it to achieve
His aim at the tower of Babel, and Europeans used it to achieve their aims.
Africans can also use it to achieve their aim. The systems set by the
Europeans are still working perfectly, nothing have changed. Many
Nigerians are not comfortable with only native names; they always have
English names too. We Nigerians, Africans cannot do anything reasonable
and profitable as humans without the European (outside Africa territory)
aid but the Europeans can do everything reasonable and profitable without
the Africans. Have we not lost our identity and dignity as black race? I
think we have and it is retrievable and now is the time. Language is power,
the identity, dignity and entity of a nation is directly proportional to the
value they place on their language system. When the society speak the
same language with equal right for all citizen makes stronger national unity
and that is independence for everyone, so there should not be any room or

any group within the territory to fight for independence. Because when
foreign language is impose on people without mind connections, their
creativity suffocates and decline and that result to fight for independent.
For the consciousness of nationhood of Nigeria going beyond papers to
hearts and minds of Nigerians begins with making NUL official. Our land
have been decolonized since 1960 but our minds are still colonized by the
system that was set during the colonial era. We are living as foreigners in
our own lands. If a foreign language was imposed on us by the British to
get us into a relationship that is favourable to both of us, would it not be
sensible if we Nigerians use some of our indigenous languages to make a
strong-tie within our territory “Nigeria” for the sake of our unity, social-
economic value and reduction of conflict among various tribes?
Over 120 million persons out of population of about 200 million persons
speak Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba. We need to decolonize our minds and
“encolonize” our minds. “Encolonization” is a process whereby a sovereign
state promotes one or more of their indigenous languages to official
languages in order to promote unity, reinforce political stability, promote
social-economic values, reducing the rate of tribal conflict in order to
promote peace among various tribes and languages in the spirit of
nationhood.
Of what good or benefits has our plenty languages done to us as a nation?
We need answers ………………. Are we not earnestly protecting what does
not promote unity but promote disunity among us?
We are only protecting our language from extinction in the name of our
culture at detriment of our nationhood instead of using our language to
raise our potentials that is lying dormant. The purpose of multiple
languages on earth has been achieved many years ago. Our differences
promote, our disunity, while our similarities promote our unity. Language is
power, people that speak the same language are closer to each other, and
it is easier to resolve their conflicts than those with different languages.
The more we speak the same language the more we will easily find
solution to amend our differences. English language do not connect all
tribes in Nigeria in the heart together but on papers, but however connects
all tribes in Nigeria to the British; and other English speaking nations for

business purposes. That was how the system was built to induce
dependency, because no heart connection dependences become a way of
life and that is how it is working until date. Until Nigerians decolonize their
minds and encolonize their minds they will never live to full potential as a
nation. We need to have a united system in our minds not on papers only.
Nigeria territory needs to be land-engage because we are very far from our
father’s land; we are living. Language is the only tool to speed up land-
engage in Nigeria

Our humble suggestions:
Nigeria government need to go into action now, so that in ten years time
we can achieve a new system, Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo Language in
Nigeria should be made as an official languages while English language
should be use for international relations and businesses.
Method for Encolonization

Non (Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo) should be given incentives for
learning how to speak, read, write and answer crynonymous names
in any of the NUL.
In ten years time, to hold any political office or work in any
government parastatal at all level should be able to speak, read and
write in any of the NUL and English language.
In ten years time, to join the military, police or any para-military, you
must be able to speak, read and write in any of the NUL and English
language.
In ten years time, our constitution should be written in NUL and
English language, signpost, billboard and news in all levels should be
written in NUL and English language.
The “Wazobia” should not be only on radio station and 50 naira note
currency alone, but in every Nigerian heart and mind to promote stronger
tie among us. Until Nigerians exalt our language above foreign language in
our land, the continuity of dependency as a way of life will never end.
About 95 percent of Nigerians adult are tribalistic in one way or the other,
you hardly see a Nigerian who is not tribalistic because our system
encourages tribalism and frustrates nationalism. Tribalism influences our
decisions making at the detriment of nationhood. Tribal clashes and conflict
settlement take a lot of our time and energy that suppose to be use to
channel our common interest in nation building. Nigeria as a nation hate
corruption but we tribalistically pamper corruption at the detriment of the
national economy. Africa do not have a reliable structure or system that is
why some black South Africans are attacking Nigerians and other black
nationals whom they declared criminals instead of arresting them by their
security agents and trial them by their court. Thabo Mbeki has failed the
Africa Continent by his statement about xenophobic attack on Nigerians.
Nelson Mandela could never have made such sentimental statement if he
was around, Africa really miss a great hero

Benefits of Encolonization

Reduction of our differences and promotion of our similarities will
reduce tribal clashed and conflict while promoting Nationhood.
Job creation for many Nigerians who will engage in teaching NUL as
all schools will be involved and job creation for “interpreters”.
Land-engage promote creativity, productivity and dignity of a nation,
we shall be proud and bold to say, “I am a Nigerian” anywhere in the
world and command respect.
Our lawmakers will be more creative and active when using NUL in
parliament.
Nigerians will be more productive, creative and politically stable with
stronger economy because of our strong-tie.
Competences will have more voice than tribalism in Nigeria context
and corruption will be reducing speedily.
In 30 years time, about 90 percent of Nigerians will be able to speak
all the NUL that is higher rate of literacy.
Literacy rate will increase, since the new system will be at everyone
doorstep, education will have more impact on our lives than before,
the more we do the basic (mathematics, physics, chemistry, economics etc) in NUL
the more creative we shall be.
I, Oviemuno Uyo from Isoko and my team BABW appeal to all minorities to accept and place values on NUL like English in the spirit of oneness for
Better Nigeria without tribal clashes and conflict among us, but prosperous
and wealthy nation free from corruption and political sluggishness.
In the spirit of Nationhood in me, I am not seeing weak, humiliated,
impoverish Nigeria but energetic and radiant Nigeria with 24 hours
electricity power supply, strongest economy in Africa, and manufacturers
and exporters of products (machines) especially the ones that overcome
climate change issues that is shaking every part of the world with its
effects. Nigeria shall be very great as we decolonize our minds and
encolonize our minds. God bless Nigeria.
Note: In this context “Crynonyms” are words of different spelling,
different language but the same meaning e.g. come in English, Zo in
Hausa, Wa in Yoruba and Bia in Igbo and king in English, Ovie in Isoko,
Eze in Igbo. Ovie and Eze are crynonymous names. Ovie is crynonymical to
Eze and king.

“Land – engage” means a land very attractive to her citizen and other
national which impel migration.
NUL mean Nigeria Unity language (Yoruba Hausa and Igbo)
