Each type of TV has positives and negatives. Before purchasing a possibly expensive piece of furniture for you home it would be wise to learn a little about each technology. This may prevent you from making a big mistake when you are ready to buy. Once you understand which type of television is right for you it’s a lot easier to take the plunge.

If you are more than 10 years old you probably grew up watching television on a CRT type of TV. CRT stands for cathode ray tube. These televisions are still very popular due to a few advantages they still hold over the newer plasma televisions and other newer types.

If you’ve ever watched a plasma or LCD TV from the side you have probably noticed that the picture is darker from that angle. One of the great things about CRT televisions is that they are still bright even when viewed from the side. Sure, the LCD or plasma television has a great quality picture from the front, but if you plan on placing your TV in an area that will be viewed often from the side you should be testing out all of the different models in that regard. It would be very disappointing to see the great plasma picture quality at the dealer and then get it home and have a darker picture from your viewing point of view.

Another positive with regard to CRT displays is their price. They are more inexpensive than the more modern types of televisions while still producing a very clear and bright picture. They also show the color black truer than most newer models and have no danger of burn-in. On some of the newer models it’s possible to have a bright picture burn into the screen and be faintly visible for the life of the TV.

With all of these positives why are the CRT displays diminishing in popularity? There are two main reasons. One, these television sets are usually bigger, bulkier and heavier. And two, if you want a large wide screen TV that is 42 inches, 50 inches, 60 inches or larger you just cannot find a CRT display that big. So if you have a big wide screen TV in mind you won’t be able to go with the older CRT units.

The last deciding factor about CRT televisions concerns whether you should buy a flat screen or curved screen model. The flat screen versions can be viewed from the side better than the curved screens. The curved screens can distort the picture while the flat screens let you see the picture as it was intended to be seen. The difference may not be apparent when viewed alone, but put them side to side and you will certainly see the difference.

The next type of technology we will look at is the flat panel LCD displays. These come in HDTV (high definition television) or wide screen. If you want to see your DVD movies as you saw them in the movie theater you need to purchase a widescreen TV. LCD is a liquid crystal display and is not only used in televisions, but in computer monitors as well.

LCD displays have a flat screen and are relatively thin in width and lightweight. They have an exceptional picture viewing quality and as with the CRT displays will not produce burn-in. These TVs have high resolution that creates a superior picture.

The biggest problem with LCD flat screens is the fact that their viewing angles are lessened when compared with traditional CRT models. If you get too far off to the side the picture becomes extremely dark. They are also incapable of creating true blacks, another disadvantage when compared to older CRT models. Plus, the larger models can become rather expensive. However, if money is not your major concern and you plan on viewing the TV from directly in front you may decide that this is the best choice for you.

Plasma television sets, also known as plasma HDTV displays, have come way down in price over the last two years. Their prices used to exclude people from buying them, but their prices are now comparable to LCD models.

These TVs have become popular because not only can you get it in a very large screen size, perfect for your favorite movie or sporting event, but it has an excellent picture quality that is also viewable from wide angles. This is a plus over the LCD technology. This TV will give you the perfect “movie experience” at home in your own theater room.

Plasma television displays are great when it comes to picture quality and viewing angles, but their prices may still be slightly higher than other types. They also have a small potential for burn-in. But the big negative is their life span. They are basically not repairable when their bulb burns out. Depending on how much you watch TV you could end up with an expensive unit that will only last a few years. Once the bulb has burned out the TV is generally history. This is not the case with an LCD display where the bulb may cost in the neighborhood of $200, but it can be changed.

Rear projection models also have their positives and negatives. Rear projection CRT HDTV’s are cheaper than the larger plasma and LCD displays, plus they have a flat screen and great picture. The negatives are their size and weight and smaller viewing angles. They are too heavy to hang on a wall and are much wider than the more narrow plasma and LCD units. Also, in a well lit room their picture can seem a little less bright than what is considered ideal.

There are other types of rear projection HDTV units too. The most popular are the LCD and DLP models. Both have flat screens with wide viewing angles, are thin and lightweight which means they can be wall mounted, will not produce burn-in and have terrific picture resolution and quality. Also, when the bulb burns out they can be replaced, unlike the plasma television models. However, they can both be a bit on the expensive side.

Now that you know the differences it’s time to go down to your local electronics store and try them out. A little bit of viewing can go a long way in your determination of what’s best and what’s not. One more piece of advice: when looking at the varied assortment of models at you local store you’ll notice that some have bright pictures and some do not. Do not base your opinion solely on that one thing. The store models will not have their brightness controls all set the same and it’s possible that a dim picture on one of their televisions could easily be adjusted into a magnificent picture.

Since I’ve been spending quite a bit of time at the movies lately, that also means I’ve been seeing lots of trailers. When we’re not seeing a lot of movies, I miss seeing all the stuff that’s coming up, although sometimes that can be a blessing as well. I can’t tell you how tired I got of seeing numerous trailers for “The Eye” and “The Ruins”.

But with the summer movie season about to kick in, there are quite a number of movies coming up in the next multiple months that I’m interested in seeing. Here’s a rundown of them.

I first saw the theatre standee for “Made of Honor”, which is being released May 2, and it didn’t do anything for me, but as I’ve been seeing the trailers, it looks funny. Yeah, it looks to be pretty predictable with standard romantic comedy overtones, but I like the physical comedy I’ve seen in the previews. Here’s the link to the trailer.

When I first saw the trailer for “Iron Man”, which is being released May 2, I was very surprised to see Robert Downey, Jr. in the lead role. I guess everyone is doing these kinds of films nowadays. It looks like it’ll be interesting, though. Here’s the link to the trailer.

I remember watching and loving “Speed Racer” as a child, and even though I really can’t tell you much about what I watched (other than that whenever I’ve been stuck at a train crossing, I’ve always wished I had his car so that I could jump over everything and be on my way), I’m interested in seeing the live-action feature film version, which is being released May 9. I’m not crazy about the Matrix-like funky special effects, but I’m willing to give it a shot. Here’s the link to the trailer.

I enjoyed “The Chronicles of Narnia”, so I’m interested in seeing “Prince Caspian”, which is being released May 16. I’ve never read the books and haven’t yet decided whether I want to attempt them. I’ve got too much stuff in the queue as it is, so it’s not like I’m looking for things to read, but it’s something I might consider in the future. You would pretty much have to be living under a rock to not know that the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones series is being released May 22. I’ll be spending the majority of May trying really hard to avoid spoilers, especially once the film premieres at Cannes. I’m looking forward to seeing the film – the trailer looks great, I’m excited that Marion (Karen Allen) is back, and I’m interested in seeing how Shia LeBeouf does in the film. I hadn’t heard until recently that they were making yet another version of “The Incredible Hulk”, which is being released June 13. The last version didn’t interest me enough to actually see it, especially with the horrid special effects, so I was pretty ho-hum about this version – until I saw the trailer. It looks pretty good, and I find it interesting that Edward Norton is playing Bruce Banner. With the cast also including Liv Tyler, William Hurt and Robert Downey, Jr., I’m looking forward to seeing how this version pans out. Here’s the link to the trailer.

I’ve already talked about being excited to see “Wall-E”, which is being released June 27. We’re planning on getting tickets for opening night at the El Capitan as soon as they go on sale. (You don’t really need me to link to the trailers, do you?)

It’ll be a two-movie weekend since I’m also interested in seeing “Wanted”, which is also being released June 27. I’m not a particular fan of Angelina Jolie, but the trailer looks awesome, and Morgan Freeman is in it, so how could you go wrong? Here’s the link to the trailer.

I recently saw the trailer for “Hellboy II”, which is being released July 11, and it looks kind of interesting. I’ve never seen the first film, and watching this trailer made me think about a city full of the inhabitants of Tatooine’s cantina. The husband wants to see the film, and he’s recommending that I watch the first film so that I can understand this one better. Here’s the link to the trailer.

The second installment of the new Batman series, “The Dark Knight”, is being released July 18. I was looking forward to seeing the film anyway as I love this particular incarnation of the story (I was not a fan of Batman being played by Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer or George Clooney though admittedly, I didn’t see the last couple movies in the series.), but it’ll be sad to see Heath Ledger’s last role, in which he supposedly does an amazing job. The movie I’m most excited to see, “Mamma Mia”, is also being released July 18. It’s going to be a bit of a schizophrenic weekend at the movies. (You don’t need me to link to this trailer either, do you?)

I had heard nothing about “Tropic Thunder”, which is being released August 15, and as I watched the trailer, it wasn’t really the kind of movie I’d normally be interested in – except for one element. The apparently-very-busy Robert Downey, Jr. is in this film, playing a critically-acclaimed Australian actor who undergoes a controversial medical procedure so that he can play an African-American character in the movie-within-a-movie. The trailer footage of him looks incredible, so I think I’m going to have to see this movie just for him alone. Here’s the link to the trailer.

Another movie that I’d known nothing about is “Hamlet 2”, which is being released August 22. But we saw the trailer recently, and we were laughing so hard that it’s one of the movies I’m looking forward to seeing the most. It’s just completely irreverent, and the show-within-the-movie just looks outrageous. Here’s the link to the trailer.

I’d heard that they were doing a remake of “The Women”, which is being released October 10. I’d seen the original film as well as read the original play and enjoyed them both. The casting of this new version is pretty interesting, so I’m interested to see how it comes out. There’s apparently no trailer available yet.

The Automobile Club of Southern California has recently stated that as long as your vehicle has tires that are in good working condition, you would be able to have a good fuel economy and extend the life of your vehicle as well. This is in accordance and with regards to the National Tire Safety Week which started just last April 23rd and would be continuing at the end of this week.

He continues, Under inflated tires can cut fuel economy by up to two percent per pound of pressure below the recommended level. During every fill up, motorists should walk around their vehicles and check tires for uneven or excessive tread wear and proper inflation. Drivers can refer to their vehicles doorjamb or glove box for original specifications or the manufacturer of the replacement tire for tire pressure inflation.

As per statistics that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has, nearly one out of every three vehicles on the roads and highways has a significant under inflated tire. Aside from this fact is that there are some 600 fatalities and around 33,000 injuries that happen every year. These are results of low tire pressure related crashes.

Do you remember when was the last time you looked in your trunk? Statistics have it that the trunk is oftentimes one of the most neglected parts and areas of a vehicle. Also, it is in fact one of the most overlooked and mostly taken for granted parts. Remember that for most of your cars lifetime, you only remember the trunk when you need to put or get something out of it.

More often than not, we store various types of things inside the trunk. And sometimes, these things that we put inside contain various materials and elements that could harm the trunk. So, as a car owner, it is important that you know how to protect and keep your trunk in good condition. Of course, you would like to have a trunk in good condition for if not, where would you be storing and hauling your share of cargo?

To save your trunk from degradation, you have to collect first everything you need before you start on your big project. You would be needing a bed liner spray that would work on your vehicles trunk. There are some that are used to line truck beds. You can ask around auto parts stores. Also, you would need a paint spray gun, a compressor, masking tape, lacquer thinner, sandpaper, and paper.

First, you should be able to strip your cars trunk if it has carpet. Then, clean the surface thoroughly. Try to sand down any high sports or rough spots that may have found their way to your car trunks walls or floor. Make sure that you get the surfaces as smooth as possible. This is to ensure that when you use the bed liner spray, it would actually take much hold on the paint.

When you have done so, mask off the border of the trunk with the masking tape. Remember to cover up all parts that do not need any spraying. Remove your cars seat. Spread then the paper you have around the area so that your cars interior would not be receiving any kind of overspray. Make sure that you tape parts of the paper so that the spray would not get through the cracks.

Wipe the lacquer thinner in your cars trunk. This actually helps the bed liner spray get its grip. Mix the adhesive of the spray and stir for around a minute. Make sure that you follow the directions that came along with the spray. Then, spray it where you would like it to be. Then, mix the lining part of the spray and stir for around a minute. Pour this mixture into the spray gun paint reservoir and use this to apply the liner throughout the trunk. When done, carefully remove the masking tape and paper and let it dry according to the specifications given by the liner package.
