Today, another round of needless bloodshed has rocked Lagos Island this time at the bustling Mandilas–Idumota axis.

What began as a minor disagreement between two young Oso-ahia hustlers, one Igbo, the other Yoruba over the sharing of money from a job, has ended in tragedy.

According to reports, the quarrel escalated into a fight. The Yoruba boy allegedly stabbed the Igbo boy first. In retaliation, the Igbo boy struck back and stabbed him as well. The Yoruba victim later died from his wounds.

What followed was mob violence. A group of Yoruba thugs pounced on the Igbo boy, beating him mercilessly before dragging him to the police station. Reports now confirm he too has died.

Two young lives wasted in just a few hours. Two families left in pain. Two tribes pitched further against each other. And for what? Nothing but anger turned inward.

Here is the bitter truth: violence and killings solve nothing. They only weaken ordinary Nigerians, while the real enemies, corrupt leaders and elites sit in comfort, looting the nation’s wealth and destroying the future of millions. The blood of the poor flows daily, yet those truly responsible for our hunger, unemployment, and hardship go untouched.

We must wake up. Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Ijaw, Tiv, we are not enemies. We are all victims of the same failed leadership. The true fight is not against each other on the streets; it is against the system that has turned Nigeria into a land of suffering.

Until the Nigerian youth realize this and unite as one people, the cycle of killings and divisions will continue, while those in power laugh at our foolishness.

The message is clear and urgent: violence helps no one. Unity is our only weapon.

How low can you ridicule the president of your country?
