Gagame:
Hi everyone,

I have seen the responses and comments on this thread. I would like to clarify that the purpose of creating this topic was never to mock or attack the agency. My intention was simply to enlighten others so they do not make the same mistake I made by making payments without ensuring proper documentation and receipts were issued.

At the time, I was assured that everything was in order and was encouraged to continue with the process after making the payment. However, I later discovered that the individual who collected the money from me is no longer working there, which appears to have created room for the current complications.

By God’s grace, I will be visiting the office tomorrow to seek clarification and resolve the matter. I will update everyone on my findings afterward.

I would also like to make it clear that this is not a tribal issue in any way. It has nothing to do with whether I am Yoruba or from any other ethnic group. Looking back, the major issue was my own failure to follow the proper procedure from the beginning and ensure that I received the necessary receipts and documentation.

Thank you all for your contributions and understanding.

Until they arrest you ooo
Sunnykey100:
For more than a decade, South African technology company Optasia, formerly known as Channel VAS, reportedly dominated Nigeria's airtime credit and data advance market, a sector estimated to be worth over ₦3 trillion annually.

However, that dominance is now facing a major challenge following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's decision to support the liberalization of the sector. Acting on recommendations from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), the President approved measures aimed at ending what regulators described as a long-standing monopoly and opening the market to indigenous Nigerian companies.

The FCCPC reportedly argued that Optasia's control of the market encouraged significant capital outflow from Nigeria while limiting opportunities for local fintech companies to participate in one of the country's most profitable digital service sectors. The commission maintained that greater competition would create jobs, encourage innovation, deepen financial inclusion, and ensure that more value generated by Nigerian consumers remains within the Nigerian economy.

As part of the reforms, nine Nigerian technology and fintech firms are expected to enter the airtime credit and data advance business, ending years of single-player dominance. Industry observers believe the move could reshape Nigeria's digital lending landscape by creating a more competitive ecosystem where multiple companies can offer similar services.

Supporters of the policy see it as a victory for local enterprise and a practical application of the administration's "Nigeria First" economic agenda. They argue that Nigerian companies have developed sufficient technical capacity to manage airtime lending infrastructure while retaining profits, jobs, and investments within the country.

While Optasia remains a major player in the sector, its era of exclusive dominance appears to be ending. The opening of the market marks one of the most significant competition-driven interventions in Nigeria's digital economy and could determine how future technology sectors are regulated between foreign investors and indigenous businesses.

The development highlights a broader shift in government policy, one that seeks to balance foreign investment with the growth of indigenous capacity. For many Nigerian entrepreneurs and technology firms, it signals that sectors previously dominated by a single foreign operator may now become accessible to local innovation, competition, and wealth creation.

Whether this policy ultimately delivers lower costs, better services, and greater economic value for Nigerians will depend on how effectively competition is implemented and regulated. Nevertheless, the decision represents a significant milestone in Nigeria's journey toward building a more inclusive and locally driven digital economy.

US-Iran talks laid ‘very good foundation for a successful final deal’, says Vance – as happened

JD Vance said the talks with Iran created a “good foundation for a successful final deal” to end the war.

“The final deal is the house,” the US vice president told reporters. “We set the foundation. We haven’t built the house, but we’ve laid a successful foundation to get to a good place for the American people.”

The vice president also suggested that the US could agree to unfreeze Iranian assets for purchases of American soy, corn and wheat.

KEY SUMMARY:

~ JD Vance said the talks with Iran created a “good foundation for a successful final deal” to end the war. “The final deal is the house,” the US vice-president told reporters. “We set the foundation. We haven’t built the house, but we’ve laid a successful foundation to get to a good place for the American people.”

When asked how soon IAEA inspectors could come to Iran, JD Vance said nuclear inspectors were called at 2am last night – but no one picked up the call. “As you can expect, not many people are answering their phone at two in the morning,” the vice president said.

~ US secretary of state Marco Rubio will begin a trip to three Gulf countries on Tuesday amid negotiations with Iran to end the war in the Middle East, his spokesperson said. Visiting the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain, Rubio will discuss “the memorandum of understanding with Iran, efforts to secure full and free safe transit through the strait of Hormuz, and the importance of peace and stability in the region,” state department spokesman Tommy Pigott said in a statement.

~ Tehran did not negotiate on its nuclear programme and did not accept any new commitments in Sunday’s talks with the US in Switzerland, ‌foreign ministry spokesperson ‌Esmaeil Baghaei told ‌the official IRNA news agency on Monday. Iran’s interaction with the International ‌Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will continue in accordance with current procedures, subject to the approval of Iran’s parliament and the decisions of the Supreme National Security ‌Council, Baghaei added.

~ Iran’s top negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf is on his way to Oman to discuss joint efforts to “consolidate” Iranian arrangements ‌for ‌managing shipping ‌in the strait of Hormuz, according to a statement ‌on his Telegram channel on Monday. The Iranian delegation also includes foreign minister Abbas Araqchi, the statement said.

~ The US Treasury said it was temporarily lifting sanctions on Iran to allow the Islamic Republic to produce, sell and deliver crude oil and related products until 21 August. “All transactions” that were previously prohibited involving the production, sale, and transport of Iranian-origin crude oil “are authorized through 12:01 am eastern daylight time, 21 August, 2026,” according to a license published by the Treasury Department, which administers US economic sanctions.

~ Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian will visit Pakistan on Tuesday, Pakistan’s ‌foreign ministry ‌has said. He described the visit ‌as an “important opportunity” to discuss ongoing diplomatic engagements following the Iran-US peace deal.

Seun hope this trash won't reach frontpage today
Afrah04:
The write up maybe scattered, I hope u get the point.

The supposed "sacrifice" parents perform for their children is really unnecessary, putting your life on pause, hoping for a future you may never be present in. It's has been a thing of pride for mothers, fathers to enjoy long-suffering, awaiting a day of joy, a whole life paused, a burden on a young child's shoulder to bring that day to pass.
My main point is this; treat children as something you acquire along your journey, do not decenter yourself, do not put a hold on your hobbies, desires or careers or your personalities; I am not encouraging neglect or irresponsibility, I want to see parents who are main characters in their life, and not bystanders, with attachment and the only means to derive Joy from their children's paths. This attachment causes harm both ways; dissatisfaction from the parents, and responsibility on this new life hoping to meet the expectations of some folks that chose not to do anything with themselves. Parents scarcely have a life of their own that is why the house goes echo when kids are in college, married or beginning to pursue their lives; in some extreme situations some can't let go, that is where they try to woo you to school, or marry close to home , that is why when the mother's go for omugwo, they really don't want to go home; because there's actually nothing there to return to, the one thing they've invested their whole being into is no longer there. So dear guardian I say unto you have no fruit of labor to reap anywhere, whatever you invested in your kids, treats it like a game of chance or infact charity, don't expect a definite outcome; also if you die, ur ghost won't see any of their achievements as shown in nollywood. Enjoy now, take urself out, cut inside ur savings sometimes and eat pepper soup during weekends, go out, and have fun,do that thing you've always wanted to do or afraid to do; if nature allows you to stay longer, then enjoy till old age, nod if the outcomes are in tune with ur prediction, and dont get angry when it doesn't. Your life should not be merged into that of your kids!

What next for the bandits?

Now that the bandits in Oyo state have been surrounded, their sympathizers that can reach them should advise them to surrender because the number of people they kill will obviously be deducted from any mercy coming their way. That is the only negotiation that can be easy. A teacher and three soldiers have already been killed.

The best way forward for them is to separate themselves from the kidnapped victims and allow the soldiers to pick them up as that is the surest way that casualties can be reduced. If none of them want to live to an old age, they should keep the victims with them
