The traditional ruler of Awka-Etiti in Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Angus Ojukwu, has joined the November 18 governorship race in the state. Ojukwu said he would contest the poll on the platform of the Mega Progressive Peoples Party. He described the administration of Governor Willie Obiano as visionless, adding that that informed his ambition to aspire to take over from Obiano. He said, “Governor Willie Obiano’s administration has not improved the welfare of the average person in the state, thus the need for change. “My objective is to bring light to Anambra State. It is time for light to shine in our state. This is what the present administration has not been able to do. I am poised to do it,” he added. Declaring his ambition during a ceremony he organised in his country house in Awka-Etiti, in the presence of the State Executive Council of the MPPP led by Simon Anidike, party faithful, town folks and well-wishers, Ojukwu reeled out a 10-point agenda which, he said, would form his blueprint for the governance of Anambra State, if elected. The 10-point agenda include free and compulsory primary and secondary education, free maternal/child care, electricity for all, potable water for all, adequate security network, industrialisation, infrastructural development, employment generation, agriculture and investment. He asked the people of the state to support him, stating that only the MPPP had what it takes to take Anambra State to the land of glory. “We have a people-friendly manifesto and programmes which if implemented, would benefit the state more than what any other government, past or present, has offered. “The APC cannot win the governorship election in Anambra State. The PDP has not yet put its house in order as to stand for and win the forthcoming election in Anambra. APGA is already dead by reason of the leadership crisis rocking it. By the time I take over after the November 2017 election, APGA will be completely dead because its grip is limited to Anambra.” Ojukwu, who was the immediate past Assistant National Secretary of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, said if elected under the umbrella of the MPPP, he would sustain the tempo of security in Anambra and go further to improve it. In his remarks, the Anambra State Chairman of the party, Anidike, told the gathering that Ojukwu was qualified and well-equipped to govern Anambra State. Our correspondent learnt that Ojukwu, whose status as the monarch of Awka Etiti, is still contentious, is the son of the late traditional ruler of the community. https://i1.wp.com/anambra.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/ojukwu_son-poster.jpg http://anambra.ng/2017/06/2017-anambra-monarch-joins-gov-race/ cc. lalasticlala |

According to the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, these boys (Kidnappers) stormed the popular Lounge 24 Night Club and kidnapped the manager, Chidi Ojukwu aka Odaa Opuo. Immediately, the ever ready security operatives were alerted and they trailed the kidnap suspects to a lonely area in Urum where they engaged in a shoot our killing two of the suspects while the third ran into the bush seriously injured. And the victim rescued unhurt. This is the second attempt by these men of the underworld to infiltrate the very fortified security network initiated by Governor Obiano. The two attempts, first being that of Ifeanyichukwu Motors, were unsuccessful leading to death of the suspects. The police are said to have discovered their arms cache and are on the search to pick the wounded gang member believed to be lying dead somewhere in the bush. The police has also arrested an Okada man with a locally made pistol who specialized in collecting Ransom for the kidnappers. Anambra State is widely known as the safest state in Nigeria and a No Go Area for any form of Crime! https://i0.wp.com/anambra.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Kidnapper1.jpg?resize=225%2C300 https://i0.wp.com/anambra.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Kidnapper2.jpg?resize=300%2C225 http://anambra.ng/2017/05/faces-of-the-kidnappers-killed-in-anambra-yesterday-graphic-images/ |
If you have ever wondered how harmonious life will be in the Land of the Rising Sun, then, look no further than the Anambra Central Senatorial Zone. Here, because God so loved us, He blessed us with Senators Peter Obi, Victor Umeh, and Uche Ekeunife as joint distinguished representatives in the Nigerian 8th Senate, on social media. I want us to listen to the ground and hear the footsteps of the ants. This is the story of three caged lovebirds in Anambra state attempting to fly like an eagle with the wings of a wren (nza). The three lovebirds are like three kitchen knives in the house of a very rich-poor man; the one which is sharp has no handle; the one which has a handle is not sharp; the one that is sharp and has a handle is double-edged. Uche, Victor, and Peter are the three sharp, handless and double-edged kitchen knives (not respectively) poking the hearts of Anambra citizens. Since the sacking of Uche Ekwunife by the Court of Appeal in Enugu on December 6th, 2015 as our Senator, local politics in the zone has been devoid of absurdity and arrogance. While we mourn the departure of Uche from the Senate after rat bite, two lizards Peter and Victor, sharpen their teeth with salt. Uche’s disqualification and the harmony in Anambra PDP gave Peter the chance to step in and express his agape love for Victor Umeh. Now we have three tailed lizards that just like procrastination are keeping Anambra citizens up with yesterday. The Scene 1 of Act 2 of BB Anambra show features Peter as a drunken fowl and Victor, the mad fox, slugging it out with Uche in her hornet’s nest. Their fans, Anambra citizens, the grasshoppers, are watching and roasting over the fire, meanwhile claiming to be emitting fat. It is very pleasing to watch my brothers and sisters neck-deep in the ocean of absurdity with these cages lovebirds. It is well acknowledged that the brain of an average Anambra man is very outstanding. Our brain has been working round the clock from birth until we fell in love with the three lovebirds. As the beauty of these three caged lovebirds fades, so does the eyesight of Anambra citizens. Subsequently, we end up loving them more. Thanks to the gravitational force, we have been pulled to them that we couldn’t tell when they parked us in the middle of the highway. Like the unfastened masquerades, we jump with the lovebirds from one burial ceremony to another social function in the state. We take pictures and record video clips as they somersault in the arena. As the caged Casanovas ooze out the joyless sermon and incandescent darkness in Anambra State, we share their bravery in the social media. Just like an irrational child that points to his father’s house with the left hand, the citizens of Anambra State have joined this dance of shame. As a matter of fact, we are carrying these poisonous deities on our heads, forgetting that it is the deity that the people worship that kills them. According to Marjorie Allen Seiffert, “A bird is three things: feathers, flight and song, and feathers are the least of these.” To simple knock Peter Obi off the news headlines, all Victor need do is change the length of the feather on his long red cap. Victor Umeh is like a small bird that ate until his stomach was full, but instead of telling his god to come and take him, he is asking us to send him to Abuja. He wants to vomit his undigested orishirishi in Saraki’s chambers. The proverb that is applied to the bird is applied as well to the wren (nza). It is commendable that ‘sane’ Mr. Obi has descended to Mr. Umeh’s level of madness. Peter Obi should keep behaving like a sheep that force-delivered a premature child out of envy when she heard that her friend, Victor, is about to give birth to a child. By now, there is no doubt that Peter Obi is an icon of “good governance” for making Anambra State “ungovernable” for Governor Obiano and acting as a catalyst in denying citizens of Anambra Central adequate representation the 8th Senate. After all, he is the 2-shoed messiah with one wrist watch for 17 years. In Anambra, we resist everything except temptation. So you can understand the commotion in the arena when the only Princes in the state, Uche, stepped in. Uche, a woman who goes to PDP and fights, goes to APC and fights, goes to APGA and fights, is it the market people that are looking for trouble from her, or is she the one that is looking for trouble from market people? Of course, it is the market women. Uche is our chocolate and the favorite of the citizens of Anambra Central. It might interest you to note that even when there was that little quarrel between these lovers, Ohaneze Ndigbo and Anambra elders all came together and prevailed on them to allow adequate representation for Ndigbo. This is the true spirit of obi-nwanne (brotherhood). Nigerians should come, see and replicate the display of true love and brotherhood in my Senatorial Zone. We are a microscopic cousin of the Land of the Rising Sun, soon to be realized. No wonder Nnamdi Kanu referred to my state as a country of savages and animals. So, let’s keep beating the broken drum for Senator Umeh to keep reminding him that a combination of long red cap and a large chair can make a king. Let’s keep urging Senator Obi on so that he will keep attempting to bury himself. Even if one of his arms ends up sticking out, we will not regard him as a deceitful person. Let us join Senator Uche and kill our plantain tree with our own machete. After all, are all the senators in Abuja not in Saraki’s back pocket? Let’s continue to chase rats in Anambra, no need to care about our burning house. Very soon, the electioneering for the 2019 elections will commence. Meanwhile, my Anambra Central that make progress by complicating simplicity are still looking for the 2019 bird in the nest of 2015. In that cage-like nest, Uche is the sweet dream while Victor is the alarm clock and Peter the virgin in a maternity ward, sorry the saint in Osborne Towers. We will forever love you guys even if it means the beginning of the end of representation for Ndi Anambra at the Senate. The lovebirds are currently sailing through the Sahara Desert while Anambra citizens are eagerly waiting for their ship to land on the tarmac of the international wing of the Agu Awka village airport. I have just finished consulting the spirits of the forefathers of Ndi Anambra and they are very happy that we have not only failed to prevent the birds of sorrow from flying over our heads but that we have allowed them to build a nest on our hairs. They asked me to hail all Anambra citizens for falling in love with these three lovebirds without hearts, poisonous, and yet, beautiful. So, if Senators Peter, Victor and Uche are not a triple blessing to Ndigbo and the epitome of brotherhood that Biafra is all about; can someone please rephrase the question? https://secure.saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/styles/normal_medium/public/Newspaper%20open%20advert.jpg?itok=1s0sHtvC A group of 24 Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) Diploma Cadre cadets who allege they were wrongfully dismissed from train[/img]ing camp are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to address their case in the interest of justice and fairness, as all efforts to appeal to the EFCC have proven abortive. One of the discharged cadets, Chinedu Chukwuemeka, explained to SaharaReporters that he, along with 23 others, applied for the EFCC’s Diploma Cadre recruitment scheme after seeing it advertised in several daily newspapers. After applying for the program, Mr. Chukwuemeka was informed on December 11, 2016, via SMS message, that he had been shortlisted and was therefore invited to attend a medical screening, physical screening, and, finally, an interview, all of which he passed. Mr. Chukwuemeka, along with 23 of his cohorts, were then invited to Cadet Training at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna State. However, on December 31, 2016, the cadets were told in person that they were medically unfit to serve the EFCC and were therefore dismissed. The affected cadets were taken aback by their dismissal, as they had passed earlier medical screenings and had no knowledge of the supposed medical ailments that led to their discharge. In light of this, Mr. Chukwuemeka and some of his fellow cadets went to government and military hospitals to undergo independent medical tests, where they were told they were in good health and fit to serve in the EFCC. With proof of medical fitness, the cadets tried appealing to the EFCC to reinstate them, but to no avail. They had already been replaced by fresh cadets and many are now left jobless, as they had quit their previous jobs after being accepted into the program. SaharaReporters reached out to the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren, who confirmed that the cadets were dismissed for failing the medical exam. However, he declined to explain why the cadets had earlier been told they passed both the medical and physical screenings. Read the cadets’ open letter below: AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI ON UNFAIR DISMISSAL FROM EFCC DIPLOMA CADET TRAINING. His Excellency Sir, with utmost respect to your noble office as the leader of our beloved great nation of Nigeria, we greet you in the name of the Almighty God. Mr. President, your Change policy has proven effective and has gone a long way to heal Nigeria from the syndromes of corruption, in which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), under the leadership of Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has played an instrumental role. Mr. President, for the first time in Nigeria under your Change government, we witnessed an open and transparent recruitment exercise anchored by the EFCC to join the agency as Detective Inspectors under the Diploma Cadre Category, which was advertised on national dailies. As Nigerians seeking opportunities to take part in the fight against corruption, we applied for the recruitment scheme and, shortly thereafter, received invitations for physical screenings, written examinations, medical screenings, and finally, oral interviews. Upon completing the above, each of us soon learned we were successful candidates, as we received congratulatory SMS messages from the EFCC inviting us to attend Cadet Training in Kaduna State. Mr. President, after one month of rigorous training at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna, we were tagged “medically unfit” with illnesses unknown to us and were told to leave the camp, despite earlier being informed we had passed our medical screenings conducted by the Nigerian Air Force Medical Team and the EFCC at the Nigerian Air Force Medical Centre in Kaduna. After our sudden dismissal, some of us underwent independent medical screenings at military and government hospitals and passed; we were told we had no medical ailments and were fit to serve in the EFCC. We were all assured by the training instructors that we would be called back to training since our medical reports came out successful confirming us fit. However, we were promptly replaced by new cadets and were not invited to return to camp. Efforts have been made to reach the Ag. Chairman of the EFCC, but all proved abortive as letters of appeal written to the commission and the Senate have remained unanswered. Mr. President, we plead with your honorable and respected office to attend to our case, as we have been left jobless since we resigned from our previous jobs after being informed that we were selected as successful EFCC Cadets. Mr. President, please apply the universal principle of merit, fairness and due process in redressing this gross injustice melted on us all. Mr. President, we have no godfather but you in which God will use to prevail in our case of being wrongly tagged medically unfit as the basis of our dismissal has been cleared by the result of independent tests conducted at military and government hospitals. Mr. President, we pray for good health and strength to steer the ship of the country to great heights. Trade unions in Anambra state comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC), the Trade Union Congress(TUC) and others, honored the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano as the “Best Labour friendly” governor of Anambra State. Governor Willie Obiano received the Award during the ceremony marking 2017 May Day celebrations at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka. May Day rally is celebrated annually in honor of workers all over the world. It was usually jointly organized by the State Chapters of the NLC and TUC. The workers also used the occasion to endorse Gov Obiano for a second term in appreciation of his provision of better welfare packages, good governance, provision of maximum security of lives and property and friendly disposition towards the workers and in anticipation of more goodies from him. The theme of the year’s celebration is “Labour Relations in economic recession; an appraisal.” In his May Day address, Governor Obiano acknowledged that his administration has kept it’s promise of improved welfare to the workers for the past 3 years. He said it was in line with his slogan of developing human capital alongside infrastructure, that he had increased the workers salaries without prompting, even in the face of the widespread economic recession in the country. He promised the workers that if they help him increase the state’s Internally generated revenue (IGR)which presently hovers around N1.4 billion and N1.5 billion Naira to N2.4 billion, he will increase their salaries again, urging them that it is possible if they are committed to it. The governor also gave directives to the State Civil Service Commission to immediately commence the process of promotion for civil servants in the State which will be completed by December this year. Appreciating the huge support his administration has enjoyed from the workers which he attributed to their belief in his administration’s ability to turn around the fortunes of the State, Gov Obiano thanked them for the endorsement, promising that their faith in him was not misplaced. In his address on behalf of the NLC and the TUC, the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Jerry Nnubia , said Governor Obiano has shown a lot of goodwill and friendly disposition towards the welfare of the workers evident in his consistency in payment of salaries, pensions and leave allowances as well as the extension of seasonal largesse to them. Nnubia pointed out that workers remain the worst hit by the prevailing economic recession in the country because as the price of goods and services continue to soar, their salaries had remained static. He made a case for a state of emergency to be declared for the upward review of workers salaries all over the country. In his contribution, the member representing Dunukofia state constituency Hon Lawrence Ezeudu described Gov Obiano as a leader with golden heart, and an epitome of good governance. Also he said that Obiano’s great achievements in just three years were unprecedented ,considering how he has taken the welfare packages of the workers as top priority. http://anambra.ng/trade-unions-endorse-obianos-re-election-bid https://i0.wp.com/anambra.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Willie-Obiano.jpg?w=400 cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44 |
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has vowed to do everything humanly possible to produce the next governor of Anambra State during the November 18, 2017 election in the state. Speaking during a meeting of South-East leaders of the All Progressive Congress hosted by The Hon Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, at his Alor Hometown in Anambra State, National Vice Chairman of the party in charge of South-East Zone, Chief Emma Eneukwu, said the Anambra State Governorship election was one in which the APC must show the nation that Igbo people were fully prepared to play the mainstream politics expected of them in the country. In its serious desire to take over the Anambra State Government House this year, the party set up a seven-member Anambra State governorship election planning and strategy committee, with former governor of old Anambra State, Dr. Jim Nwobodo as chairman, while former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, will serve as vice chairman. Senator Emma Agboti from Enugu State will be secretary, while Senator Ifeanyi Ararume (Imo), Senator Nkechi Nwogu (Abia), Chief Maduba Cosmas (Imo) and Chief Gbazueagu.N. Gbazueagu (Enugu) are members. Describing Anambra State as the South-East’s industrial and business hub, Eneukwu said every right-thinking Igbo person strongly believed that the state could not play the leading role required of it to open up the South-East economy from the opposition. He regretted that notwithstanding the alliance the present administration in the state formed with the past Federal Government, Anambra State failed to actualise the needed economic revolution in the South-East geo-political zone because the alliance was flawed. He said: “The time to take over Anambra is now. The Federal Government is our own. It is of APC; the minister (Ngige) is our own and so the governor, come this 2017 election, must be our own for the needed economic revolution to begin to free us economically and otherwise.” “We must utilize this golden opportunity to salvage our zone and our people must be told of this imperative truth.” Enenkwu said he had it on good authority that the incumbent government in the state was sponsoring some of its cronies to APC, claiming they were governorship aspirants under our party, adding that their sole aim was to create discord, distrust and disaffection within APC. He said further: “We have set up a very powerful team to uncover this plan and checkmate their activities. Our members are therefore, warned to be careful of dubious characters claiming to be aspirants in the party. “We have guidelines and until they are announced, and any interested member meets the requirements of the guidelines, one is not an aspirant. “I heard one announced his aspiration over the social media, and some days ago, claimed he had joined forces with the incumbent governor. I want them to know that we understand their primary school tactics.” http://anambra.ng/we-must-produce-anambra-state-governor-this-year-apc/ |
