OyoTunjiUSA: Hey 🤠
1. You posted question in a public forum which i responded to as my right . Even if your wife got admitted into Cambride i can still teach both of you various visa rules . You are just a student in the United States.
2. J1 visa is a USA government exclusively initiated visas with strong rules . Why are you asking about drop-boxing when you have successfully being renewing your J2 cripple visa via DS- 2019 ?
3. Truth is bitter , let's wait and read from the experts who will come and write otherwise. Say the truth about your current illegal standings in the USA. You cannot renew or extend that your J2 in Nigeria .
4. As a J2-visa holder , you will continue as a puppet of your wife (on J1-visa) and if your new Harvard admission is genuine then her visa benefit also extends to you except if you are trying a trick that cannot work behind your wife.
Best Wishes 🙏 How did you know it’s the wife on J-1 and not the husband? |

Hannania: Its about earning possibilities. If he can get the opportunity he needs in Switzerland, moving to the US is of no use because the pay is one of the best globally Someone earning 5,000 CHF ($5516) in Switzerland 🇨🇭 or £5000 in Germany has better quality of life than someone earning equivalent un the United States. CHF is also equally stronger than $$. So I really don’t see any need why anyone would move from 🇩🇪 or 🇨🇭 to 🇺🇸 if quality of life is what they’re after. While I have not lived in Germany before (but I did my findings those times when I was interested in doing my phd in Germany or Zurich in 🇨🇭) but I’ve lived in the USA before and I’m going back there soon by God grace. But if I had the chance to obtain funding for my phd in Germany, I would have preferred..but I couldn’t despite how much I tried. |

Hannania: 1. PHD in Germany is for 3 years, while it's 4 or 5 in the USA(Averagely 5 years).
2. PHD in Germany is regarded as employment mostly, and you're paid better than the stipend you get after Funding in the US.(Not scholarships like DAAD though).
3. After your PHD in US, Your best bet for Green card is EB1 visa and it's by luck. The new German law enacted this year can give you German citizenship a year after your PHD if you learn German to C1 level. With the German passport, you can apply for EBI visa.
4. With a PHD admission, you can get appointment in days for Germany, and visa approval max of 4 weeks.
I stated all those for Germany because I know people have limited knowledge and you'll mostly get for US. If I was you though, I'll go for Germany, earn more in three years , get my citizenship with one of the strongest passport on planet earth.
Congratulations if you have both though For number 3, why the need to apply for US EB1 visa if he already has a German passport? German passport is way stronger than a US passport. Only Japan and Singapore passport can match a German passport in strength |

IbeOkehie: Chai...so bank branch managers earn less than $400/month in Nigeria? I'm assuming this is retail/consumer banking like First Bank, Access Bank and such. I actually suspected it was this low which is why I've always been wondering what the big deal is about a bank manager in Nigeria. But people argue so much I started doubting my own experience. Wow!!!
By the way I looked up some data and there's about 4500 commercial bank branches in Nigeria. Just so we know.
https://techpoint.africa/2023/07/12/banks-with-the-most-branches-in-nigeria/#:~:text=Nigeria%
Very few bank managers, that's why they're highly regarded. Remember PwC data shows 0.4% of Nigerian adults earn over ₦200K/month!!!
Better to migrate and restart as security guard or cook in US/UK abeg if one can't get an equivalent job in banking. Wow, hair braider in USA can make that money with just one customer and remit the money to Nigeria!!!!
Now my understanding is even deeper. No wonder demand for migration is so high. God Bless the King biko, God Bless USA , may we always work hard to uphold the good systems and standards we've inherited from those who built these countries.
Good Luck to Nigerians. Lol. Whatever rocks your story sha

emmaodet: Tbh, I am in-between. I can't totally criticize those leaving nor call those staying back stupid. Moving has it's merits and demerits just like staying back. It is just for someone to weigh his options and know the pros and cons of their actions and ready to face it but generally, the advantage of going to western countries is - 1. Foreign certificate gives you better job with higher earnings. 2. Strong passport that won't make you to be wasting money on visas or delays or visa denial. 3. Their economy is so developed that you can virtually work in any sector and live a good life and can easily get a good job without connections or letters from kings/senator/governor/local government chairman just to get a decent job.
Those 2 points above are good points of moving. In my career, using a Nigerian certificate has really cost me a lot and slowed down my progress and I know and see my colleagues with foreign certificates getting promoted faster than me and even earning better pay at the same level. How does a strong passport benefits you if you don’t have money? Broke people wey dey abroad no dey enjoy any passport. Ask how many countries Nigerians with American passport don travel go |

Gerrard59: The US has always been tough to migrate to legally and establish a stable residency. Even other white folks find it hard to emigrate to the US legally. The economic downturn has exacerbated things. H1B quotas have not been increased, and other legal routes take so much time due to clogs within the system.
The world is going to be more competitive as time goes on. Make people know how dem dey fvck o. US has been so hard cuz they no dey give visa again. It’s like they’ve shadowbaned the green passport, but keep collecting money from us for visa — you’re spending nothing less than 1M+ trying to get appointment, especially if you are thinking of the student route — yet denied. Go to Walter Carrington around 6AM to 8AM, and see crowd , only to get denied and money wasted. Most Nigerians now will rather use their money chop fish and open shop for their wives to be selling beans and rice than to waste such money on American visa |

franchasofficia: UK has adjusted their immigration policy and made it unattractive to most Nigerian Japarians.
Canada did same.
US has been a no go area since Trump's regime.
Germany is now delaying visa appointments, same with most other European countries.
When you join these points with high inflation making naira to lose its value, tell me how else you expect average Nigerians to japa? US has been so hard cuz they no dey give visa again. Who else notice that the japa noise has reduced these days? Or people no longer japa again ? Before, anywhere you go on social media you’ll see things like “I don’t get these things, I just talk to a man who sold his 5 duplexes and 500 cars and 6 businesses in Nigeria to relocate to UK permanently “ “new dispensation”
Is it that people no longer japa ir they’re hiding it now?

tiptoe1: Well you've listed good points but you should also remember that VO's enjoy what is known as ''diplomatic immunity''
They can reject you for reasons like looking too ugly, being too short or tall, or having too much money shown on your pof which makes the vo feel insecure, and there is nothing you or your govt can do about it. They won't tell the real reason for sure, they'll tell you you're being denied cuz you couldn't prove hometies. You're still at the mercy of the vo even if your over qualified 😂 😂 |

Davsidoo: Hi Guys,
For those that have done WES evaluation, how long does it take to pass this stage?
I have gained admission to the department in the school. However, I need to get my Wes evaluation done for the Graduate school to admit me before I can get my i20 Lemme share my timeline with you— however when I did it, I was in the United States that time and I could actually call them directly to know how far.. Paid and submitted on June 8th, and it was delivered to my address on July 10 — that’s around 1 month

fearlessfang: Is it mandatory to schedule a DHL pick up? Or just go there and get your passport after visa/ passport is available for pick up? Try and schedule pickup. Two years ago, I didn’t schedule pickup, and I picked my passport. But it seems it’s a requirement now. That was the email they sent to me this time when I got another F-1 visa
