This is very wrong.

They weren't even married.
But then, married or not, no one has the right to lay hands on his/her partner unless on the grounds of self-defense.

That's why we really need to sentisize couples while they're preparing to get married. When their kids keep observing their father 'disciplining' their mum, it would only seem normal to them, and this would go as far as affecting them all the way down to when these kids get married some day.
