The 32-year-old Nigerian man who destroyed five embassy cars in London, out by using iron rods and stones to destroy vehicles pyesterday, has been arrested by the police.

According to reports, Jeffery Apkovweta Ewohime initially caused problem at the Belgian embassy where his passport was confiscated.

After he was turned back by the embassy because he arrived "late", he lashedarked within the embassy's premises.

Muhammed Babandede, the Comptroller General of Immigration Service confimed the incident in a statement Monday night.

According to him, Ewohime arrived the Nigerian mission in London for passport services. He said, "He arrived late and was told by the Security that the Mission has closed for the day. .

He went about destroying Nigeria's diplomatic vehicles worth hundreds of thousands of taxpayers money. The passport in question has been issued since 6th of June 2019. .

He did not leave any self-addressed envelope for delivery." Meanwhile, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, senior special assitant to the president on Foreign Affairs, has also reacted to the embassy incident.

In a statement by her media aide, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Abike described the action as "unpatriotic, and an unconscionable act of indiscipline."

In her account of events, Dabiri-Erewa said she received a report that Ewohime went to the Nigerian Embasy in London on Monday.

He had approached the Embassy to collect his passport which expired since November 2017, at about 2 pm, and was told collection of passports closes by 1 pm.

He then insisted on collecting his passport, and was told to bring his collection slip which he could not produce. According to reports from the Embassy, it would be wrong to hand over his passport to him, without his collection slip.

He, thereafter, left agitated and returned from a nearby hotel to destroy about seven cars, five belonging to the mission, and two to visitors who parked nearby.

Egypt’s ousted president Mohamed Morsi has collapsed during a court session and died, according to state TV.

The 67-year-old was attending a session in his trial on espionage charges when he blacked out and then died, state TV said.

His body was taken to a hospital, it said.

Mr Morsi, who hailed from Egypt’s largest Islamist group, the now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, was elected president in 2012 in the country’s first free elections following the ousting the year before of longtime leader Hosni Mubarak.

The military ousted Mr Morsi in 2013 after massive protests and crushed the Brotherhood in a major crackdown, arresting Mr Morsi and many others of the group’s leaders.

A student of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU), Ikot Akpaden, has been suspended “indefinitely” from the school for allegedly calling the university vice chancellor ‘foolish’ on Facebook.The student, Joy Nkanang, was in her second year in the department of performing arts before her suspension on May 9. .


Ms Nkanang, from Akwa Ibom State, on May 5 made the following post on Facebook: “AKSU what is happening? A dry cleaners shop was robbed last night along college road….”Ms Nkanang’s Facebook post, was about the increase in cult activities and insecurity around the university campus. .

The post attracted some comments, including one Facebook user calling for a protest against insecurity in the university. “No…. we don’t want to spoil the schools image…. foolish vc,” Ms Nkanang wrote on the social media site, in response to the call for protest. .

The university’s attention was drawn to her “foolish vc” comment which the authority, in the suspension letter, described as “gross misconduct” and a “breach of matriculation oath”. Ms Nkanang would remain suspended from studies and barred from entering the campus until the conclusion of investigation on her case, the university said.

The suspension letter, signed by the school registrar, John Udo, said Ms Nkanang admitted before a meeting with university officials that she did call the vice chancellor foolish. .


But a source who witnessed the meeting proceedings said the student was not allowed to make any comment when she appeared before the officials. “They just asked her where she’s from in Akwa Ibom and who her father is. “At the end of the meeting, they told her she is dismissed from school. She knelt down and begged, but nobody listened to her,” the source said.

The country was very peaceful. I grew up in a village in Osun State. I am a native of Modakeke. My mother was a teacher while my father was a peasant farmer.

I was trained as a marketer and I am a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. I had my Higher National Diploma at The Polytechnic, Ibadan. That was where I got a degree in marketing and after that, I took the professional examination of the most respected institute of marketing in the world, got qualified in 1993 and became a fellow in 1998.

I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth so my plan was that immediately after my education; I would become a bus conductor. Molue (a popular type of commercial bus seating 44 passengers and allowing many others to stand, which was popular in Lagos) was still operating in Lagos at the time and I had a friend who had one. I had already made plans with my friend that after school – my HND – I would come and be his conductor. I was exempted from taking part in the National Youth Service Corps because of my age. Being a conductor was my plan but that was not God’s plan for me.
