Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, has said that Nigeria’s Northern region will destroy itself if it doesn’t change.

According to SaharaReporters, Sanusi on Monday said that real development will continue to elude the North except the leaders rise up and do the right thing. .

He urged leaders of the region to move away from doing things the old way, which had produced the same negative results but should invest in education, nutrition and primary healthcare. .
He said, “The real change in the North will come from those considered mad people because you look around and say if this is the way we have been doing things, and this is where we have ended up, maybe we need to do things differently.

If the North does not change, it will destroy itself. The country is moving on. If we don’t listen, there would be a day when there would be a constitutional amendment that addresses these issues of quota system and federal character.
The rest of the country cannot be investing, educating its children, producing graduates and then they watch us, they can’t get jobs because they come from the wrong state, when we have not invested in the future of our own children.

You cannot be happy about 87% of poverty in Nigeria being in the North. You can’t be happy with millions of Northern out-of-school children.
You can’t be happy with nine states in the North contributing almost 50% of the entire malnutrition burden in the country. You can’t be happy with the drug problem, you can’t be happy with the Boko Haram problem. .

You can’t be happy with political thuggery. You can’t be happy with all the issues; the Almajiri problem that we have.”

Justice Agatha Anulika Okeke of a Federal High Court, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has convicted and sentenced Nwalozie Onyebuchi Julius, who used the identity of Dr. Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria to commit fraud, to three years imprisonment without an option of fine.

The convict was arraigned by the Uyo Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a one-count charge, bordering on impersonation and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N4.5million. .

Nwalozie’s journey to jail began on December 6th 2019 when he was arrested by the operatives of Uyo Zonal Office of the Commission, based on reliable intelligence on the activities of internet fraudsters, operating in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Upon arrest, the convict confessed to the crime and a forensic analysis of the HP laptop recovered from him further implicated him as several incriminating documents of false pretence and fraudulent extortions were printed from it which he also admitted, emanated from him. .

Investigation also revealed that the convict's specialty was Business Email Compromise-BEC and his modus operandi involved searching for email addresses via Google search and sending convincing emails to his victims. He also confessed to have used a particular email address, (emefielegodwin586@yahoo.com) purportedly belonging to the C.B.N governor, Dr. Godwin Emefiele in defrauding one Omar Deep, who thought he was actually dealing with the real C.B.N Governor

Murdered seminarian buried in Kaduna

Catholic faithful and mourners, on Tuesday, turned out in their numbers for the funeral mass of Michael Nnadi, a seminarian at the Good Shepherd Major Seminary, Kaduna, who was killed after spending three weeks in captivity.

The deceased was among the four students abducted when suspected Boko Haram insurgents invaded the seminary on January 9.

Sarkodie has finally apologized to Nigerian music star Yemi Alade, 3 years after they fell out.
Recall that Yemi Alade called out the Ghanaian superstar rapper for being unprofessional after he failed to show up for the music video of a song they collaborated on in 2017. In an interview with Starr Chat at that time, the Nigerian singer said; .
. “I’ve really tried my best to really not go into details but the long and short on why I don’t want to dwell on this is that is super unfair, unprofessional and unkind for international acts or even artistes to have a dealing with anybody and after agreeing to certain things, you don’t come through at all. .

Soldier’s wife allegedly beats stepdaughter to death over plantain .

The wife of a soldier with 6 Division of the Nigerian Army in #PortHarcourt, #RiversState, has been arrested alongside her husband, for beating her 10 year old stepdaughter to death for eating the plantain bought by the father.

reports that while the woman was savagely beating the deceased, a female soldier ran into the house to intervene, but she was ordered out by the primary suspect’s husband.

The beating allegedly continued until the 10 year old girl slumped. She was then rushed to a Clinic, but it was too late to save her. The couple are now in detention at the 6 Division of Army Barracks.

The Acting Chairman of EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu says one the most wanted suspect by the Federal Bureau of investigation, Oyediran Joseph, has been arrested in Ilorin, Kwara State, for his roles in internet fraud. .

Mr Magu disclosed this on Friday in Ilorin on Friday 30th of August 2019 at a press conference to explain the EFCC/FBI Collaboration in the fight against internet fraud and cyber crime .

The EFCC Chairman who was represented by Ilorin Zonal Head of the Commission, Mr Isyaku Sharu said the anti-graft body has been supportive to the activities of FBI and every other foreign counterpart whose responsibility is similar or analogous to the Commission.

"Three weeks ago, the US authority had written to us for assistance in tracking and possible arrest and prosecution of two most wanted FBI suspects in Nigeria.

Investigation conducted by the EFCC revealed that Joseph had benefited about N60 million from the loot via western union transfers," he said.

Sharu said that within seven months of operation, the Ilorin Zonal office independently arrested over 50 suspected internet fraudsters, secured conviction of 25, and got forfeiture of their exotic cars.

He said that the money acquired from the fraudsters was millions of naira and all gorfeired to federal the government in line with court judgement. .
.
The Zonal Head said that four properties were linked to some of these cybercrime suspects, located in choice areas in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state.

"These properties include Supermarket, Plaza, and so on, and the conservative value of these properties cannot be less than N800 million to N1 billion."
