Thanks everyone for the messages, the links shared and the suggestions provided. i really appreciate them all. My brother is already married to a USC so he's kind of sorted. To answer your question, i see the confusion too and this is what happened. After the filing in 2016, the first mail i received from nvc was in dec 2021 saying my status has been updated and that i should make payments and start submitting my documents which i completed in feb 2022 . When i was done with that, they sent a mail saying my case has been transferred to USCIS and that they will get back to me when they are done reviewing it. i didn't hear anything from them till now and in the recent mail they sent, i just saw that my petition was approved in 2020 which is news to me because i didn't know until now. At this point I'm even tired, this journey has not been an easy one on me and right now, if it so happens that it get revoked then life goes on. Taal17: |
Hi guys My story is sort of long but I really do need help, suggestions or assistance on what to do. My petition is about to be revoked and I have been given 30 days to give good and sufficient cause to show why it shouldn't be revoked. In 2016 my sister using my mum as the petitioner filed for myself and my brother. We didn't hear anything from nvc and we were hopeful. In 2019, my mum passed due to complications from covid in the US and I knew it would somehow affect our filing. In 2020, they said my petition was approved but I didn't get mail or letters from them until 2022 when they said Ishould submit my documents which I did. From nvc, my case was transferred to uscis and each time i checked for update, I was told to wait as they were gong through my documents and will get back to me. Now my sister just received a letter from uscis with the title NOTICE OF INTENT TO REVOKE. Just to add, my brother has been in the US since 2015 because he went through the study route while I'm the only one here in Nigeria but we are both still waiting for this filing to come through and we both received this letter of revocation. They say humanitarian reinstatement is not available in instances where the petitioner has died prior to the approval of the petition and now they say we need to submit evidence in support of the petition and in opposition of the proposed revocation. I don't even know what other type of evidence to submit as I'm not there with them. In this case where the petitioner is no longer alive and we only have our sister whos is the sponsor, what can we do and how do we go about it? Im so confused right now, imagine waiting alone for 8 years and not being able to see your family or even your only parent alive just to get this type of response. Your suggestions will really be appreciated. Thank you |
Hi guys, I want to apply for a UK visa and this is my first time. I have travelled to other African countries and recently Qatar/Lebanon. I own a registered fashion business but I want to apply for POF to use as evidence for my application as my personal funds might not be enough (not sure how much I need) My question is should I fund my personal or business account, also how much should I put in my account on a monthly basis or should I collect a lump sum? How much can I use as POF for a 7 days visit? Should I use a conference or seminar as my reason for visiting instead of just stating tourism? Its my first time and I would prefer not to use an agent. I will also very much appreciate it if someone can put me through the steps. Thank you |

Thanks I would take charge of everything but TWoods mentioned a law which is new to me Hi! First off, you'll need to get over the fear of being rejected. The worst the Embassy could say is a 'No', and then life goes on. Esp since you're not passionate about staying back. With that out of the way, you'll need to do a good work at convincing everyone, not just the VO, that you really want to do this. And it's not just what your sister wants for you. There's nothing stopping you from taking charge of the entire application process. Choosing schools (and locations, taking tests, talking to others about your apps. All on your own. Of course, your sis could provide some guidance. But that's it. Just little help here and there. Not the key ones for which you will be questioned on at the Embassy. That way, it becomes easier to sell your story, and convince anyone you couldn't care less about staying back |
@TWoods, thanks for pointing that out, I really didn't know that law exists. So you are saying there's no point in trying 1. All your family is in the US 2. You already have an immigrant petition filed for you. By law, the number 1 criteria a VO must decide on is that you are not an intending immigrant. Based on the two factors above, how do you expect them to |

Based on the two factors above, how do you expect them to grant you a student visa? @Fredoricko thanks for your questions. My answer Yes I really do want to study because that has always been my plan. Ok then, I will do everything myself. She doesn't have to pick for me. I intend to choose the course myself which will be in line with Public Relations |
Good morning house. Please I need advice, assistance , etc. My whole family stays in the US and I'm the only one in Nigeria. I applied for a visit visa last year but was denied due to the fact that I'm single lady and have no ties in Nigeria. Now my sister who is a nurse in the US says she wants to apply to a school so I can do my masters degree which I have always wanted but I'm scared of rejection again. The issues are a) she has filed for me last year using my mum but that will take a very long time. b) I still do not have any ties here in Nigeria. c) She wants to apply to a school in the same State where she stays. NB she is my sponsor d) I am scared of rejection again because it might look like I want migrate which I'm not really interested in. I have gone through the thread and it seems my chances are kind of slim. Please kindly advice. Thanks |
Good morning VO, I'm in dire need of your advice. My family wants me to come over to the US using a work visa way but I'm saying I should visit first because I'm scared the work visa process might take a long time and also I don't know what my chances are due to the fact that my whole family is based in the US and I'm the only one in Nigeria (no strong ties down here). They don't just want me to visit, they want me to come and stay. Kindly advise me on what to do. Thanks for advance |
