The son of a poor man is more likely to learn about tithing first than about wealth preservation.
In a country where people don't even know how to save, I feel it's out of place to preach that people should not save.
That's how people end up in regrets because they're trying to "invest"

Me i don't blame people that don't help "some" family members
They'll spend on their girlfriends but they won't help family members.

Sometimes "some" family members become entitled

Imagine after sending my bro 300k, he still asked me for 10k the other day

Then yesterday he was asking for another 20k loan

Haba

I didn't earn 1 naira in same month I sent him that 300k

Imagine 220 dollars.

I don't regret what I did, but I won't do it again.

He's only confirming what I always say about physical businesses. Imagine after doing something for 2yrs and you're still not balling in profit. Still running around looking for money for solar today, fuel tomorrow
How do you want to live long in that trap called business

There's difference between "business" and "hustle"

I don't believe in just hustling without direction.

____________
Another person would have used that 300k to buy phone for his woman and people will say he's foolish abi wicked for not using the money to support his relative, but he's the one who knows why he made his woman a priority over his relatives.

Adulthood has caught up with us

I think young people need to understand that there's nothing like "having time to do what you love"
You're at the age of responsibilities

You got to put in the work to make money. No one is coming to save you.

If you like continue living with social media delusional "lifestyle"

Your parents didn't wake up every day to go to work because it's what they enjoyed doing. They knew it's what they needed to do to take care of you.

So you go work hard like this come use your 2 months salary buy iPhone 17 grin

Nigerians are really trying
Some it's even 6 months salary

Las last we all know what we're really doing to make money.

It's normal to see someone using a phone that's more than their 2yrs salary

Being on the dollar side of the economy has really messed with view of life.

Earning in naira is VERY hard.
I've never thought of what it means to work and expect payment at the end of the month.
Just 1 day experience and I'm feeling like running away.

Now I understand why nurses were all over posting themselves during the nurses week.

There's no escape route. Whether in Nigeria or abroad, you must "work"

My first time doing something like this and I can't believe this is how people work to make money, omo

I strongly believe that I've been living in a different world in last 5yrs, adjusting to "reality" of life is very hard.

Now I understand the struggle, the process
God abeg

Thank God sha I wasn't careless in my delusion to miss out of getting a first class. That'd have been very painful

I know there's no special benefit. Nobody will give you 10 meters because you jave first class, but i did it for me. Thank God for his grace

Igbo culture puts so much pressure on their people
Maybe they're all rich

Been following this emeka nobis guy. Last year he raised funds for his parents cancer treatment, don't think he was even able to meet up with the total amount, about 80 million naira then

Unfortunately his mum died last month, and he's sharing his experience with people in the village and burial demands
Talking about over 20 million naira expenses for burial

For what exactly?

That it's like a taboo to just dig ground and bury a loved one. The umuada.....

I know not everyone there is a "developer" (nairaland terms) grin
But what's the fate of people that can't afford these things?
It's normal for people to live their loved ones in mortuary for months, sometimes over a year because they're still raising funds for burial.

What kind of culture is that?

where were the village people when they needed money to take care of the person's hospital bills.

Everything about igbo culture is just too expensive, even burial
If you now mistakenly marry someone that's from a struggling background, you'll still have to take care of your inlaws.

I don't think I want to get caught up in a trap like that

This is what people call "love"

The only thing the man will get is sex

An average entitled Nigerian girl thinks her vagina is worth more than 30 billion dollars

That's why she'll still ask you, "what did you even do for me?"

Better use your money and level up

If taking care of another human is what y'all call love then I'm not fit to be a boyfriend grin

Nairaland GeneralRe: F.uck Around and Find Out by AnoNeeMouz(op): 1:50am On May 06
This is a thoughtful breakdown, but it leaves out a hard truth many people in the workforce already understand: compensation shapes behaviour.
You can’t realistically expect Tier 1 output with Tier 3 or even Tier 2 pay. Companies like Moniepoint operate in a global talent market, not a local one anymore. The same “Tier 1” Nigerian talent you’re describing is comparing offers not just within Lagos, but with remote roles paying in dollars or pounds. So when a company says it “can’t find talent,” sometimes what it really means is: we can’t find top talent at the price we’re offering.
There’s also growing frustration because some of these companies expect employees to go the extra mile—long hours, high pressure, strong ownership culture—while offering compensation that doesn’t match that level of commitment. You can’t pay peanuts and expect UK-level productivity or Silicon Valley-style dedication. That mismatch is where the real tension lies.
Yes, the Tier 3 overload is real, and graduate trainee programs are a smart long-term fix. But talent development alone won’t solve this problem. Retention and attraction of quality talent come down to three things: fair pay, clear growth, and respectful work conditions.
Until companies align expectations with compensation, the “talent shortage” conversation will keep sounding incomplete—because it’s not just a pipeline issue, it’s also a value-for-value issue.
They're looking for global talents that'll take local pay.

Who go help you no go stress you.
Anyone saying he can't find 500 candidates, it's because he's looking for competent people that'll collect his 400k per month offer

On their site, you'd see Textbook job description of what they're looking for

But they won't mention salary, all you'll see is "salary is competitive/attractive"

You want a cloud engineer earning in hard currencies to apply for your 500k per month job, lol

No go train people wey ready to learn

In this Nigeria where people will gaslight you that you're unemployable, people that can't even express themselves in proper English are heading big gvt agencies like NNPC
Ask your family members that work in these agencies, the northerners don't insult their people. They empower them with jobs, strategically placing them to take over, but we have animals capping nonsense that they couldn't get 500 candidates.

If your hiring team couldn't get 500 candidates to fill available roles, it means they're incompetent and don't know their job.

Some of these firms have "barriers" that intentionally stop qualified candidates from accessing opportunities

These people that sent me this email for instance, the assessment was all about quantitative abi verbal reasoning

They'll put different squares and ask you to choose from A to E which one comes next

If that's what you think is the best test of people's "competence" then you're not serious.
If that's what you use to say someone is unemployable, them I'm proudly one.

I can bet my gadgets that even the CEO and the HR won't be able to answer the 26 so called critical reasoning assessment in 15 minutes.

Nairaland GeneralRe: F.uck Around and Find Out by AnoNeeMouz(op): 1:13pm On May 05
In a country that produces hundreds of thousands of graduates every year, you couldn't find just 500 people and you're not ashamed to go and say it publicly

Same country where Jerry Eze selected more than 200 people in his recent foundation support

Tony elumelu foundation gave grants to more than 3,000 small business owners

But it's one moniepoint owner that's capping nonsense, insulting the youths that we're doing yahoo and hookup

These people need to be cautioned to stop making careless statements like this. That's how EFCC man said 6 out of 10 undergraduates are into fraud.

Gtbank and other top firms have Graduate Trainee programs for a reason. You can't expect someone who has never worked in a corporate setting to meet all your requirements.

If you can't train them, fuc.k off

Even though I don't want to believe it, I sometimes think there's a curse working against me that makes everyone around me want to "take" from me.
I don't have people that will come through for me if things go south

I'm always the one coming through for others.
I know some people like to cap nonsense that maybe it's God that's using me to answer other people's prayers
But it's nothing more than just emotional blackmail

Imagine this my friend asked me for 20k to complete payment for something because he couldn't access his bank
It's been over 2 months now, and he doesn't want to give me the money

This is someone I helped make his first money online in 2020.
He's someone that should be my "backup" plan if I need help, but unfortunately he's not

I'm trying to see if there's any reasonable thing he's done for me since 2020, but i can't remember any

He's taken 2 powerbanks from me, the most recent being last year. A new powerbank i bought in December 2024
Till today he's refused to give me.

That time when he was still coming up, I do little things for him like paying for fellowship polo, and other things
On my birthday we went out and all the bills were on me.
When he started getting things right, he goes out to some of the finest places alone.
Even for once he's never invited me.

Even information that can help, like piggyvest, nobody to share with me
Nairaland GeneralRe: F.uck Around and Find Out by AnoNeeMouz(op): 10:36pm On Apr 28
Same people you have been helping since 2010 still demanding your help in 2026 and the list of people keeps growing. It is not funny at all
I think to avoid future bigger helps, it looks better to avoid today's smaller helps.
December 2020, I told me big bro I'd find a way to earn small money from completing tasks online. A week or so after, he asked me for 10k
From 10k in 2020, we're now doing 500k in 2026

6years after, no way out.

That 300k i sent him to get that solar, it's just to fulfill all righteousness. Let it not be what's stopping his "business" from progressing

Imagine after a year plus of running a. buiness, you're still looking for who will borrow you money.

Even though I said if I were to go back in time, I'd have given him the money he requested for in 2023
But my convictions still remain the same.
Physical businesses are too stressful

Rent, fuel, etc
When will you scale it to start making profit?

Imagine this kind of careless statement by the efcc chairman

How will other countries take us serious.

Since when did EFCC become antiyahoo
They're no longer chasing politicians
Everytime it's yahoo boys

💯

I can't afford to go back to SAPA levels because just going through my transaction history will make me depressed

It's hard for me to really know how much comes in and goes out in naira, because I move money like someone who's into money laundering

People that come from poverty usually have less regards for money. That's why they find it hard to cross from just "rich to wealth"
Small salary increment from 200k to 500k, you're feeling big and buying perfume of 100k because "you only live once"

Nairaland GeneralRe: F.uck Around and Find Out by AnoNeeMouz(op): 12:48pm On Apr 25
Something as big as this is removed from a woman's body and they'll say "the cause is unknown"
I don't rate our so called "technological advancements"
Diseases like this and a thousand others are reducing the quality of life
Small birds will strike a very gigantic aeroplane and force the pilot to do emergency landing.

For health, I think science should focus more on what we are consuming and how it affects us, instead of providing "solutions". Why not focus on preventing it in the first place.
