Nevertheless, the North- Western alliance is indestructible.
Our shared and mutual agreement is forever bound.
When was the alliance between the north’s three regions and the southeast broken?

The alliance that produced Azikiwe and Balewa in 1960, Shagari and Ekwueme in 1979 and 1983.

The alliance returned in 1999 to produce Obasanjo and Atiku’s PDP deregulation and privatisation prosperity team. It lasted through Yar’Adua and Jonathan with Sambo until Tinubu started looking for cows. 🐄

WizardOfNG:
Interesting read. Shehu Sani is a highly intelligent chap always reasonable, progressive and focused on what is best for his nation and Nigerians.

His talk about rotation of power is spot on and he makes the same point I make always which is that truncating it, by a Northerner winning during what is the slot of the South, is a development taking us into uncharted waters.

Of course, predictably the South, especially the SW, will be disgruntled with Nigeria and likely to agitate and become restive creating a difficult tenure for whoever is President and likely setting Nigeria on the part of break-up.

Yorubas are capable of achieving it as they are never ready to be second class to anyone which the end of rotation will signify since the North can keep power perpetually.

We saw Yorubas move over the Abiola Saga and Against Abacha with actions ultimately culminating in Yoruba 1999 Presidency and the creation of rotation itself for future and lasting peace and equity between North and South.

We cannot forget only Yoruba leaders had the ball to demand regional autonomy under Buhari in 2021 when 5 APC Governors, from Buhari's own Party, and one Non-APC Governor demanded Six autonomous regions for Nigeria.

The North and the world already knows what Yorubas are thinking. Atiku and those behind him are just selfish, inconsiderate and unreasonable people who do not care what is best for Nigeria. Many of those people, as Sani hinted, host personal vendetta against Tinubu,

Ironically on NL , with the likes of Aminda and Odin13 plus Anonimi etal, and in Nigeria it is not surprising it is people from one region of the South , who have traditionally hostwd deep feelings of vendetta against PBAT and the Yorubas, supporting Atiku.

Thhey simply have never cared for equity and fairness plus whatever secures peace and progress for Nigeria. As Sani warns, we should be careful.

Some might be happy with always playing second fiddle and being second class, Yorubas won't accept it. Especially having being honourable always and doing everything to keep the peace and unity of Nigeria while others, I.e North and SE, have historically, and till today, always threatened that very same peace and unity.with their actions.

NLCreator:
Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly.

There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers.

Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million.

The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”.

While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use.

“Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said.

“Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office.

“So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.”

Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future.

Nemere2020:
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

NNPCL’s subsidy payment jump by 47.9% to N7.1trn in 2024

November 26, 2025

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) paid a total of N7.1 trillion as subsidy for premium motor spirit (PMS) in 2024, this sum represents a 47.9 percent increase from N4.8 trillion recorded in 2023.

This is despite the government’s announcement of subsidy removal in 2023.

The company explained that the amount, which it termed ‘energy security expense’ arises when there is differential between the exchange rate used to freeze the premium motor spirit ex-coastal price and the prevailing rate at the point of import settlement.

According to the report, government had instructed that NNPC Limited cannot sell its PMS above a certain regulated price. It added that the cost of petrol import is usually much higher that the regulated price.
