lexylaw40: The “president-elect” saw in Obi's presidential bid, a good chance to reduce the winning chances of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Oyo State, Tawfiq Akinwale, on Wednesday stated that the “President-elect” Bola Tinubu asked popular economist, Prof Pat Utomi to step down for Peter Obi in the buildup to the 2023 general elections.
Akinwale made this revelation while he appeared as a guest on a radio programme on 101.7 YES FM, Ibadan, Oyo State, while alleging that Obi received campaign funds from Utomi, whom he described as Tinubu's "son."
The LP aspirant, who spoke in Yoruba language, said "In the buildup to the 2023 elections, Obi who had purchased the nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), suddenly announced his exit from the party.
"Initially, Pat Utomi had secured the LP's presidential ticket, but when Peter Obi said he resigned from the PDP and joined the LP. Bola Tinubu, a master political strategist, quickly told Utomi, that everyone knows to be his son to step down for Obi.
"The “president-elect” saw in Obi's presidential bid, a good chance to reduce the winning chances of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
"What Peter Obi didn't know is much more that what he knows, he started collecting campaign funds from Utomi, while Tinubu was giving the money to Utomi.
"This went on until Obi's presidential campaign got to a stage it went beyond target. Obi was used without him knowing," Akinwale said after announcing his departure from the party.
Obi defected to the LP after resigning his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and also withdrawing from the presidential race under the party.
The former governor consequently joined the race for the party’s presidential ticket, while Professor Pat Utomi, in June 2022 stepped down for him to emerge as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, unopposed in Asaba, Delta State.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun made this known at the end of the inaugural Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja. Mr. Edun said that the benefit of the subsidy removal will be plough back into various sectors to improve business environment for local and foreign investment. He added that with the increased revenue from subsidy removal, various palliatives have been made available to cushion its effect on a short, medium and long-term basis.
Ofunaofu: Report: Current Govt Added More Debt in Two Years Than Nigeria Accumulated in 55 Years
• Decries Nigeria’s debt service-to-revenue ratio
•Urges FG to declare fiscal emergency
A new policy brief has warned that Nigeria’s worsening debt profile and weak revenue generation have pushed the country into a dangerous fiscal position, with the current administration accumulating more debt in two years than Nigeria recorded during its first 55 years after independence.
The report, released by the Alliance for Economic Research and Ethics LTD/GTE, a Nigerian policy think tank, argued that the country’s debt crisis has evolved into a governance and revenue emergency, as debt servicing obligations now exceed the federal government’s retained earnings. > > According to the think tank, Nigeria’s public debt rose sharply from N87.38 trillion in June 2023 to N159.28 trillion by the end of 2025, with President Bola Tinubu’s administration accounting for about N65.9 trillion of the increase within its first two years in office.
The organisation in the brief titled: “Nigeria Is Borrowing to Breathe—and the Clock Is Ticking”, noted that Nigeria accumulated only about N12.06 trillion in debt from independence in 1960 up to 2015, meaning the current administration added more than five times that amount in just 24 months.
The report stated that while previous governments also contributed significantly to the country’s rising debt burden, the speed of accumulation under the current administration had intensified concerns over fiscal sustainability.
“President Bola Tinubu’s administration has added a further N65.9 trillion in just two years. To put that in perspective: it took Nigeria’s first 55 years of independence to accumulate N12 trillion in debt. The current administration has added more than five times that amount in 24 months,” it argued.
It recalled that Nigeria briefly became almost debt-free externally after the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo secured an $18 billion Paris Club debt relief package in 2005 and paid $12 billion to extinguish about $30 billion in external obligations.

newsbook: Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has re-echoed his allegation that his predecessor, Mr Peter Obi demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him for sponsoring his election in 2013.
Obiano and his predecessor, Obi have had a frosty relationship shortly after his swearing in.
Obi has however denied that he demanded for the sum of N7.5billion from Obiano, saying that his problem with him was his (Obiano’s) underperformance.
Obi said if he needed the said sum, he would have simply taken it from the N75billion he left for the Obiano administration at the end of his tenure.
But Governor Obiano while speaking on Wednesday evening at Ezechima Primary School, Onitsha where he inaugurated his reelection campaigns in Onitsha North Council Area, said the clarification became necessary because of the recent accusations against him by the former Governor.
He stated that his predecessor had demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him as funds spent in prosecuting the election on his behalf, but that he refused to pay the money because it was not true.
Obiano said he refused to pay because he strongly believed that public funds should be used for public good, and not to settle godfathers.
These, he said, was the reason they fell apart.
The governor said that another reason he refused to pay the money was because he was aware that enough money was raised for his campaign by his friends and associates, all of which were never accounted for by the former governor.
On the actual sum the former Governor claimed he left behind, Governor Obiano made it clear that he inherited liability of about N127 billion debt from him in contracts awarded and other responsibilities, which he has been religiously undertaking in the spirit of continuity.
He said Obi flagged off several roads even on the day he was leaving office and saddled him with the burden of paying for it, but he assured the people that he has his eyes on the ball and will not allow anything to distract him from fulfilling his promises.
The Chairman of the Governor’s Re-election Campaign Committee, Chief Victor Umeh said APGA as the political spirit of Ndigbo, has in the past three and half years, availed Anambra good governance at its best, reminding the people that the upcoming guber election was not about Willie Obiano but about ensuring that the state remained free from political godfatherism.
A former Central Bank Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo in his speech said that at this time, the State needs a tested hand like Governor Obiano who has the experience and expertise to effectively steer her affairs.

anonimi: How we foiled Jonathan’s effort to make Mulika Adeola Speaker, Akande reveals
AS president in 2011, Goodluck Jonathan did all he could to ensure South West grabbed the country’s number four seat, including lobbying then opposition leaders from the zone, to no avail. The North West eventually grabbed the seat, supported by South West leaders in opposition to then ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Former Governor of Osun State and now statesman, Chief Bisi Akande, made this revelation in his autobiography, “My Participations” which is currently dominating political and national dis- course.
Aminu Tambuwal, now Sokoto State governor, won the seat, against the preferred pick of his party, Mrs Mulikat Adeola Akande, from the South-West. Defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, then a fledging opposition, which had Akande and his soulmate, former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu, as front- line leaders, openly asked its elected members of the House of Representatives, mostly from the South-West, to work against their region and back Tambuwal from North-West.
The opposition party’s support carried Tambuwal through the contest against Akande, then ruling party’s favourite for the speakership seat.
In his book, Chief Akande revealed that former president then as incumbent, personally reached out to Tinubu, who is now believed to be nursing presidential aspiration in 2023 and himself, but couldn’t convince them.
He wrote, “President Jonathan, immediately after the meeting (with political parties), called Bola Tinubu aside into a lobby to broach the matter of ACN support for a choice of who would become the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
“That same day, President Jonathan talked to me on phone about the same matter. He disclosed that PDP had zoned the position to the South-West but that only one Muraina and another Mulika won elections on PDP ticket from the zone into the House of Representatives.

Our attention has been drawn to a viral post by a former Governor of Anambra, HE Mr. Peter Obi, CON, on what he described as "Phantom Debts and Ecological Loan Fallacy", which presumably was in response to some statements in a podcast by the Anambra State Commissioner for Finance. We understand that this is a campaign season and candidates often go to the extremes in order to impress. If not that the said post was in his personal handle, we would not have believed that he could have made such wild, and verifiably false claims.
As a government, we are focused 100% on delivering dividends of democracy to millions of Ndi Anambra. However, when a former governor of the state makes some outlandish claims about the state of public debt he left behind and especially when the present government has been spending billions of Naira servicing the same debt, a responsible government owes the public a response in the interest of transparency and accountability. We have l no time to join issues. We will simply state the facts here for the records.
Fact No.1: HE Peter Obi Spent about $4.05 billion (equivalent to N5.4 trillion at current exchange rate) in 8 years and also Contracted US$ 123.77Billion in external debt alone which our government has so far paid billions of Naira in service payments. Let's be clear: hardly any government in the world has zero debt stock. The issue is not whether or not borrowing is good: no business or government can scale significantly without some debt
Yes, we converted the audited and published expenditures using the average official exchange rates during the eight years of HE Peter Obi and they sum to about US$4.05 billion. At the current official exchange rate, it would sum to about N5.4 trillion and he surely governed to the best of his ability. Of course, no government will ever finish the work of development. HE Peter Obi still left a state without any functioning urban or rural water schemes; increasing insecurity and INCREASED POVERTY, ostensibly dead public schools and dead public hospitals with grossly inadequate teachers and medical personnel (indeed 44% of all communities in Anambra, 78 out of 179) did not and still do not have any public primary schools (and this administration is only beginning to close the gap), decrepit infrastructure with huge urban slums, etc. Only about 27% of Anambra residents patronized public health institutions because of poor quality and non-functionality (he even admitted abandoning public health system at the recent NBA conference). We are convinced that many Ndi Anambra would not have minded if HE Peter Obi had borrowed to fix public schools and hospitals, water schemes, infrastructure, or even to reduce poverty and insecurity, Debt, especially for bankable projects and human capital development, is justifiable.
So, HE Peter Obi should stop being irked as if all debt is bad.
Fact 2: As at the date HE Peter Obi left office (17th March 2014), there were and still are 8 different external borrowings his administration left for his successors. As of June 30, 2026, the total balance of such loans left by HE Peter Obi at the official exchange rate stood at N127.4Billion. Here we summarize the latest report from the Debt Management Office (DMO) on Anambra's debt status (as of June 2026), indicating the dates the loans were signed and the balance remaining.

Evidently, HE Peter Obi borrowed for malaria, erosion control, education, healthcare, etc. So far, this government pays hundreds of millions of Naira every month to service these debts and we are not complaining. It is good for Anambra once we can show the impacts.
Fact No. 3: HE Peter Obi owed verified salaries, gratuity, and pension to retired teachers andstaff of Water Corporation HE Peter Obi made very strong statements about clearing ALL inherited arrears of pensions, salaries and gratuities. That claim is patently false. We do not want to get into the debate between him and his predecessors regarding which arrears were paid by them or by him. Our administration has cleared about N22 billion in inherited gratuity arrears of retired state and local government employees and teachers. However, there are still legacy arrears which have lingered since the time of HE Peter Obi.
First, there is the arrears of salaries to staff of defunct Water Corporation, which lingered throughout HE Peter Obi's tenure, culminating in court processes and judgments. It is this administration that has negotiated a settlement and already paid the first two instalments of the agreed three installmental payments. Second, there are arrears of salaries, pensions and gratuities owed to primary school teachers under the local government system during the Gov Mbadinuju's tenure.
The attention of our administration has recently been drawn to these lingering arrears. We have been informed that the government of HE Peter Obi verified and certified the debt of 16 months of salary arrears and agreed to pay in tranches. It only paid five months and no more until today. This administration has set up a committee headed by the Head of Service to finalise a new verification for us to pay. So, Your Excellency, you owed salaries, pensions and gratuities. Many of these people are still alive and can testify. It is not good to speak loudly without facts or with fabricated figures. How can you say that if we show one person that you owed you will quit your 2027 presidential campaign? No, we don't want you to quit and we wish you well. But you obviously LIED: you owed many, not one, andthose debts are yet to be fully cleared even today!
Fact No.4: HE Peter Obi blatantly lied about any Ecological fund account or deposit with the First Bank of Nigeria, UNIZIK Branch, Awka. In the podcast by the Commissioner for Finance, he never mentioned any N2 billion ecological fund loan. The video is there. Where did HE Peter Obi invent the N2 billion ecological fund matter and went ahead to fabricate LIES about it?
HE Peter Obi wrote without any equivocation that as at the date he left office, 17th March, 2014, he left the "balance of over N2.13 billion in a First Bank Account No.2018779464, UNIZIK Branch, Awka" '. He subsequently charged that if the claim is found to be false, he "would stop campaigning". Well, we have obtained a certified print out of the said account from inception to date. First, the account is an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR)-Consolidated Revenue Account, and NOT an ecological fund account. Second, from 2011 when the account was opened until date, there has never been any such amount—whether as inflow or balance-in the account.
Since HE Peter Obi raised the issue and admitted that his government received such an amount and it is evident that no such an amount ever entered into the account that he cited, it behoves on HE Peter Obi to tell us where exactly his government kept the money or is the money missing? There must be something about this N2.13bn that he should bring it up even when it was never mentioned by the Hon. Commissioner.Curious! Finally, we do not wish to be drawn into the nebulous creative accounting that generated the phantom N75 billion "savings" or "investment" which the previous administration has vigorously disputed. Signed:
Samur Law Mefor, PhD Commissioner for Information & Value Reformation Anambra State Government.

Racoon: Festus Keyamo Defends Tinubu From Drug Trafficking, Says Tinubu Mistakenly Shared Flats With Drug Lords
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, has distanced the All Progressive Congress presidential candidata, Bola Tinubu, from being a drug baron who was involved in the traffic of narcotics in the United States.
Keyamo, who also doubles as APC Presidential Campaign spokesperson, noted that the former governor of Lagos State only shared a block of flat with drug barons about 30 years ago in the US.
His reaction is coming following documents of a Chicago District Court indicting and convicting Tinubu of drug dealings and money laundering in 1993.
The document which emerged online two days ago, described APC standard-bearer as a drug baron, adding that Tinubu entered a plea bargain, leading to the forfeiture of his assets to US authorities in 1993
It was also pointed out that Tinubu forfeited the sum of $460, 000 dollars in his bank account at First Heritage Bank to the US government.
Speaking on Wednesday on Channels TV, Mr Keyamo dismissed such claims, insisting that Tinubu was linked to drug peddlers who were his neighbours.
He said: “What happened was that Tinubu went to open an account. The address which he used in opening the account was the address used by these people. I think some blocks of flats. Maybe, he was happy to be in that block of flats too.
“So, they now link it that the other people they were investigating for narcotics are in the same address used by Asiwaju to open that account.’’

This right here is the difference between what the subsidy Tinubu continues to pay illegally to Malta blending plant importers and Atiku's proposal that will further unleash productivity here as it did in 1999 when PDP implemented deregulation and privatisation policies for widespread prosperity, cheap petrol without huge debt burden.

anonimi: NNPCL’s subsidy payment jump by 47.9% to N7.1trn in 2024
November 26, 2025
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) paid a total of N7.1 trillion as subsidy for premium motor spirit (PMS) in 2024, this sum represents a 47.9 percent increase from N4.8 trillion recorded in 2023.
This is despite the government’s announcement of subsidy removal in 2023.
The company explained that the amount, which it termed ‘energy security expense’ arises when there is differential between the exchange rate used to freeze the premium motor spirit ex-coastal price and the prevailing rate at the point of import settlement.
According to the report, government had instructed that NNPC Limited cannot sell its PMS above a certain regulated price. It added that the cost of petrol import is usually much higher that the regulated price.

NLCreator: Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly.
There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers.
Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million.
The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”.
While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use.
“Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said.
“Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office.
“So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.”
Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future.
aduboy: Anambra distributes 177 vehicles to traditional rulers
Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, on Monday in Awka, distributed one SUV each to the traditional rulers of the 177 communities in the state.
Obi handed over one of the vehicles’ key to the state Chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Alfred Achebe, Obi of Onitsha.
He said that the gesture was aimed at helping them run and build better communities, adding that the vehicles would also help the traditional rulers to function effectively.
“If you have better communities, you will have a better Anambra, Anambra today is changing for better and I want this sustained,” the governor said.
“In doing that, the state government and the local government will do what it can to support the building of a better Anambra.”
Achebe said that he was overjoyed because the governor cared about the well-being and welfare of the traditional rulers.
“It is completely unprecedented in Anambra and probably elsewhere in Nigeria,” he said.
“It is a mighty gesture from the governor and for the government of the state to make a distinct impact on the well-being of the traditional rulers in the state.”
According to him, it was one of the several measures the present administration in the state had taken to improve the wellbeing of the traditional rulers.
“We pray that God will give us a successor that will continue from where Obi has left and lift Anambra to the next level.”
How do we know this is not a propaganda scam like the one by Tinubu claiming to have a gold invitation to Obama DNC convention back in the day
FSU: DEVELOPING STORY: How Tinubu Got to DNC’s Convention in North Carolina Thursday, 06 September 2012 10:22
Sharpedgenews.com in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Democratic National Committee is holding its 2012 convention, has obtained proof that contrary to news being sold in Nigeria, President Barack Obama did not personally extend what has been dubbed “a gold card invitation” to notable Nigerian politician, Mr. Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
DNC sources irked by the suggestive news reports which is being interpreted that Barack Obama may have extended a preferential invitation to Mr. Tinubu in spite of similar politicians in his native country of Nigeria said that such notion was further from reality as was alleged that the ACN leader
The DNC source explained to sharpedgenews.com that the invite that was given to Tinubu was a generic type that similarly went to whomever donated more than $5,000 to the Obama campaign.
“The invitation card went to Tinubu, the former senator from Nigeria, was generic and it generally goes from the campaign organization and not personally from President Obama,” the highly placed source explained under condition of anonymity.
The source told sharpedgenews.com that it would be difficult for anyone to implicate Obama in attemots at foisting a preferred leadership on Nigeria or Africa as that would negate the philosophy of Washington’s new international engagement.
“Nigerians are capable of determining its destiny,” said the source.
The source said that politicians are free to strategize, while explaining that “it is immoral to deceive anyone that we are who we are not.”
“This gentleman is not like your popular national icon, businessman Moshood Abiola, who was well-grounded and at home with many people in government and private sector. Americans don’t want to be dragged into the affairs of any country through personal preferences. The man probably did what he had to do in order to gain access to the convention ground.”
The former governor of Lagos State has junketed in a private jet from Nigeria to Chicago in Illinois, Tampa in Florida, Washington DC to London and back to Charlotte, North Carolina in the last two weeks. The Reverend Jesse Jackson is seen as his anchor for a book launch and attendance at the DNC convention.
emkz: Exactly. Tinubu has tackled problems no one has agreed to face. When Buhari-Idiagbon came in, IMF asked us to devalue our naira. Buhari refused, citing it woukd cause economic pressures as Nigeria was import-dependent. IBB came and started Structural Adjustment Programme that started a downward spiral of our economy. Abacha did his best to keep exchange rate stable and boost our external reserves. Then came Obasanjo and Atiku who started defending the naira by pumping dollars into the economy instead of pumping dollars into infrastructure and factories. From 1999 to 2023, almost $390 billion was spent on that scheme. Additional $53 billion was spent on fuel subdidy. Atiku and his team have promised to bring back these subsidies. Tinubu has tackled both problems. Anyone who means well will agree with the Oba of Benin that we do not need to go back to the old ways of doing things. Tinubu is doing well. Is there hardship, yes. Will his reforms yield long term benefits and sustainable growth, yes. What is Atiku's plan? Reopen borders that are open to start transborder trade that is ongoing. Bring bacj subsidy in a way that is not even clear to Atiku. Destroy Tinubu's policy of allowing market forces control exchange rate. Sell NNPC while Tinubu is still paying obligations to former NITEL and Nigerian Airways workers Atiku's liquidation failed to care for. Make his friends rich as they are entitled to be rich as he himself said. Make von Batten Okeke rich by giving excuses on his inability to release FBI files. So no, Atiku is not the answer. Atiku was the problem.
Is this the WORSE result of Tinubu tackling both problems of cheap petrol and cheap dollars that gave us widespread prosperity, peace and security for 16 years under PDP deregulation and privatisation policies
The Stockholm syndrome you are spreading is not for us.
anonimi: Nigeria remains fourth largest economy in Africa despite rebasing
July 21, 2025
Nigeria has retained its status as the fourth largest economy in Africa despite a rebasing exercise that expanded the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced that the economy expanded to N372.8 trillion ($243 billion) in 2024, down from N314.02 trillion in the prior year as more sectors in the informal economy were considered in its calculations.
The statistics bureau adopted 2019 as its base year away from 2010 that’s previously reported.
The rebasing exercise covers the period from 2019 to 2023 and reflects changes in the economy’s structure, sectoral contributions, and data sources.
Despite the overhaul, Nigeria fails to reclaim its erstwhile status as the largest economy in Africa.
According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), South Africa remains the continent’s biggest economy with a GDP of $410.34 billion for a country with little over a quarter of Nigeria’s population.
Following the Southern African nation is Egypt with a GDP of $347 billion while Algeria maintains its third position having $268.9 billion as the size of its economy.
Although Nigeria’s economy grew 30 percent above the projected $188 billion estimate by the IMF this year, the rebasing was poised to place the economy as the biggest in Africa.
Esty11: okay this is getting interesting. looks like this is going to be south vs north.
What part of Nigeria are these roads? Roads that are worse than when PDP gave us cheap petrol and less debt burden.

What Tinubu and APC can’t destroy does not exist. 11 years of change and 3 years of reform with subsidy removal TWICE along with huge debt cum tax burden on people, why should we have roads worse than when PDP gave us cheap petrol and cheap dollars without piling up debt?
“This is how the Benin–Asaba Expressway looks yesterday, Thursday, August 20, 2026. Look at how cars and trailers are stuck because of the bad road. Mr Peter Obi advised the APC to start fixing existing roads, but instead, they are att@cking him. Instead of Dave Umahi focusing on… pic.twitter.com/k3V0eCNOo8
234GT: Sir,only very few Nigerians have sense. You wrote what you wrote becasue you have sense. Smuggling should only lead to scarcity of the product, not increase in price. What Dangote is saying in effect is that petrol prices will continue to increase even when crude oil drops to 60 dollars per barrel becasue there will still be smuggling to neighboringcountries...so it is no longer the Iran war again? He can only say this nonsense because he knows majority of Nigerians are foolish
Are the most foolish Nigerians those who have reinforced APC failure since 2015?
How much do you think you have been FORCED to pay as subsidy for the massive corruption in APC’s oil industry in the past 11 years?
anonimi: Petrol should never cost more than N70 per litre, says APC
January 19, 2015
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as mere tokenism the reduction of petrol price from N97 to N87 per litre, saying the petroleum product ordinarily should sell for N70.
On Sunday, the federal government announced the reduction of petrol price, citing the fall of global crude oil price.
But the APC through Lai Mohammed, its spokesman, on Monday accused the government of making a show out of deceit, saying “a 10.3 per cent slash in the price of petrol was a mere tokenism at a time the price of crude oil has crashed by about 60 per cent”.
It argued that the pump price of a litre of petrol should not be more than 70 Naira, alleging that at N87 per litre, the government was forcing Nigerians to subsidise the massive corruption in the oil sector by N17 for every litre of fuel.
sweetjohn: Oga all your monopoly products are the most expensive in Africa from cement to petrol. All of them. And you want to also include poor people via shares in your criminal IPO
Dangote does not have monopoly on petrol. In addition to NNPC refineries producing since 2015 according to A-looter Propaganda Conmen, APC, Tinubu is continuing to import petrol from their Malta blending plants and paying them illegal subsidies under a different name to sabotage the PDP licensed private refinery.
Do you know now who the devil destroying Nigeria is
anonimi: NNPCL’s subsidy payment jump by 47.9% to N7.1trn in 2024
November 26, 2025
Goinhard: Reason for cement hike ? Smuggling too. Richest man in Nigeria my foot.
Misplaced aggression.
Did Dangote promise you to crash petrol prices below N185 before he was allowed to grab power from Buhari? Is Dangote responsible for securing the border?
Wickedfacts: You can't get the nexus between IGR and economic viability. After all, you are a disciple of Bode George and his Lagos Pdp clowns.
Shebi they will toll the coastal road, wait till they start tolling the 2nd Niger bridge so your eyes can clear and the meaning of of economic viability will sink in.
How much IGR growth from increasing tax burden happened in the four years of UPN progressive governor Jakande’s unparalleled tenure?
What fraction of the 1979-1983 achievements has been replicated by Tinubu and his puppet successors since 1999?
Splashme: The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.
Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.
The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.
Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”
The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.
Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.
He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

WHO SAYS 4 YEARS IN OFFICE IS NOT ENOUGH FOR MEANINGFUL ACHIEVEMENTS?
IT'S A FACT THAT 90% OF GOVERNORS IN NIGERIA SINCE 1999 WITH REVENUES AT THEIR DISPOSAL CANNOT BOAST OF A QUARTER OF THESE ACHIEVEMENTS EVEN WITHIN THEIR EIGHT YEARS IN OFFICE.
Vision101: Sorry PDP made you eat your today yesterday. Now the pot is empty and you are crying. We have heard in the past of structural adjustment program - SAP, austerity measures, SURE-P etc. The presidents avoided the foundational problems because they are difficult and will not be popular. You better brace up and face the challenge in the interest of your children. Nigeria is in safe hands. The president just needs to adjust one or two things and we match on. Sorry dear we can't go back to the days of feeding bottle economy. It's not sustainable.
For 27 years, Lagos has been in the unsafe hands of the master strategist of a-looter propaganda politics.
What foundational problems have been addressed by the balablu bulaba clueless town hall clown? Water supply to all households or free education for all children? What has Tinubu done with the 100 times budget growth to N4.2 trillion? Is he just stealing the money like he is stealing the 53% solo share of subsidy savings and other revenues in FAAC, unlike the 27% shared by 36 governors?
In the interest of our future, we need to return to the better days of PDP deregulation and privatisation policies that grew our economy to the biggest in Africa while giving us cheap petrol, cheap dollars, low interest rates, low debt and tax burdens with low unemployment rates and less insecurity from jobless people.
What patriotic Nigerian won’t WORK for us to return to PDP better days

Kindly share the source for this claim of 25 million, noting that APC presidents Buhari and Tinubu have failed to do scheduled census in 2016 and 2026.
